Here is the main rival trio. They’re essentially the rivals of the main duo when they travel through the Kanto region.

Kenzie Hemlock (ReviveShipping) - Purple’s main rival and eventual girlfriend. Their rivalry is similar to that of Red and Blue’s rivalry. They were childhood friends, but when both were ten, they got into an argument over who was responsible for the broken glass. Additionally, their rivalry started off as an unfriendly one. However, they started to gain respect for each other before eventually rekindling their friendship. Eventually, Purple and Kenzie got into a romantic relationship with each other.

Akina Natsume (FemmeGymShipping) - Olive’s main rival and eventual girlfriend. She befriended Kenzie after beating Gym Leader Forrest during her journey. Unlike Purple’s rivalry with Kenzie, Olive’s rivalry with Akina was always friendly. Over time, they grew even more close, and they eventually started dating each other.

Skyler Koga (FatherlyShipping) - Purple’s other rival and Akina’s best friend. He befriended Kenzie as well during his journey. In addition, him and Purple share a friendly rivalry. Skyler is also a ninja.

i'm in a selfship server and our daily prompt was choosing a song that reminded us of our selfship and explaining why if we could

i've already done a brief one about wesker (that i should probably go into further detail for at some point) so this time i wanted to do my emmet selfship!

[insert is austin renée (they/ve/any), using renée for short]

the song is love foolosophy by jamiroquai!

and now for the brief analysis i gave on why this song is basically the theme song for this relationship LOL

the song's about feeling strongly in love with someone to the point of feeling a fool over it. my s/i, austin renée (i'll just use renée for short) is head over heels for emmet, who's their battle rival, and feels like a complete moron because emmet seemingly is dodging every attempt of renée hitting on him, which makes them feel it isn't reciprocated. thus, from the refrain: "my love, it means nothing to you / so maybe i'm still a love fool". which has some irony because their love does in fact mean something. which makes them the "fool" as well

HOWEVER! this line ALSO works from emmet's perspective! emmet is significantly more in denial of his feelings for renée, but also when he registers that he's being hit on, he'd always assume it was some form of teasing because he didn't actually think someone was going to be shooting their shot mid-battle. thus, the part before the previously stated line being "all the lies you're telling / tragically compelling". same irony as renée's perspective

the refrain also having "this love foolosophy is killing / previous illusions that / i had in my mind about you". they were mutual rivals. they were fine with just being rivals. and then they just HAD to fall in love and entirely start perceiving the other in a different light /lh

verse 2 starts like it's coming from emmet's perspective. "she shimmers like a california sunset / lady lady, glitters but there's no gold / she carries sweetly infectious magic formulas". the first two lines are very literal, because renée tends to wear verrrrrry sparkly clothes. yep! the line is also about the person being generally attractive, and i think emmet finds renée decently attractive (despite renée's own self-esteem secretly being in the negatives). the "but there's no gold" bit, while not literal (renée's outfit has gold accents), can be about drawbacks. emmet likes renée a lot, but finds them generally kind of annoying. the "sweetly infectious magic formulas" is because i think emmet doesn't want to admit he's in love at first, but also isn't quite sure why he's so obsessed with them (spoiler: he's got a cruuush :3c)

"i don't want the world, i want you". this is renée's perspective, i think. renée's background before being reborn as their current self was that they were a huge weakling with major hubris, but now they actually have skill to back up their pretend ego. but then they realize, like……being at the top alone sucks. sure, it's fun blowing up and being this cool ace trainer, but if emmet isn't there by their side, it feels…..kind of meaningless, honestly? there isn't a point to them being the best if they can't have emmet constantly there trying to usurp them, honestly (also, the repeated "i want you, i want you, i want you, i want you" just feels representative of how intense they feel about emmet LMFAO)

plus the song just generally has a feel for their vibes. they both love funky music i'm so serious

Austin Renée is verrry dedicated. Yep! No matter what happens. Win or lose. They are always back at the Battle Subway for another round. I like this about them. Sometimes this is not true of them. But now they are much better at it.

🧡 orange ― is there somewhere you'd like to visit with (austin renée)? what would you do there?

I want to see the Battle Frontier. The one in Hoenn. I will challenge Austin Renée. First to get gold symbols from every Frontier Brain wins. Yep! We love the challenge.

💚 green ― what was the first thing you ever said to (austin renée)? why?

I said what I say to every person on the Battle Subway. Yep! "I am Emmet. I am a Subway Boss. I like Double Battles. I like combinations of two Pokémon. And I like winning more than anything else. So let's start a great battle in which every Pokémon uses various moves."

We met on the Double Train. They were annoying. But they won. And it was fun! Yep! Verrry fun. First of many battles.

We were at a fair. We had a competition. First to five prizes win. I love winning. And I love prizes. So it was fun! Before we started there was one game. It was the game where you throw darts at balloons for a prize. Austin Renée said they could beat it easy. They were verrry confident. They missed every shot. Not even one balloon popped. Nope! They played it off well. They said it must have been Opposite Day. It was funny! I knew Opposite Day is not a real holiday.

That led to our competition. We tied. It was a great day. Austin Renée confessed that night. Verrry fond day of mine. Yep! We laugh about it now. Even if they admitted it was embarrassing at first. Now it is a fun memory.

for context, they have a face-off to see who can be the first to five prizes won, and the deciding game ends up where they're both compete at the same game at the same time. in this case it's that water guns squirting game, and they managed to set off the machine at the same time. they got stuck with only one prize so now they split it with joint custody </3 ironically the joint custody schedule was figured out with ease but they have yet to agree on the name for the cubchoo toy
