Among the Bulgarians whose memory we honor are Paisius of Holender (1722 - 1773), who in 1762 wrote "Slavic-Bulgarian History" - the first National Revival work of Bulgarian historiography, St. Ivan Rilski (876 - 946). ), revered as the patron saint of Bulgaria, writer Ivan Vazov (1850 - 1921), called by the people "the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature" and others.
