Merry Xmas 2024!

Merry Xmas again, especially to R1999 and the 37 fans!

This gag popped into my head while I was away from home on Christmas Day, and I didn't want to lose it. (I also wanted to find an excuse to draw 37 ha ha's!) So, I rushed to finish this piece as soon as I got back home, to make sure it wasn't too late to share the Christmas spirit.

Start

Plot/AU: you are a part of Port Mafia and you work as a dentist in Mori's clinic(?) And headquarter, looking after young user ability who join the Port Mafia, taking care of their teeth, and dealing with anything that requires the assistance of a doctor. Your personality is very strange and unsettling... but anyway, No one knows you are a part of Port Mafia.

A child's toothache can be cured by eating a piece of a toothfairy's wing, while an adult with an ulcerated tooth would need to swallow a whole toothfairy raw.

For this reason, she carries many glass jars of toothfairies and wears special braces. She captures them, keeps them in captivity, and cooks them when necessary. The toothfairies hate her for it. They curse her and have sworn to take away every one of her teeth.

When not working, she travels the world collecting teeth of all kinds: children's teeth, animal teeth, critter teeth, and fake teeth. This is partly due to the necessity of breeding toothfairies and partly as a personal hobby. But when all is said and done, it's the children's tiny baby teeth that give her the most pleasure. They are soft, delicate, and irreparable.

ชอบดีไซน์ของตัว ToothFairy แพทช์ 1.2 ของ Reverse1999 ไม่คิดว่าจะออกแบบตัวละครหญิงที่ใส่เหล็กดัดฟันได้ดูเท่ขนาดนี้ เนื้อเรื่องกับความเป็นมาของตัวละครในแพทช์นี้ทำได้ดีกว่าแพทช์ที่แล้วมาก ทำเอาวันแรกที่อัพแพทช์กะจะลองเข้าไปแตะๆ ดูว่ามีอะไรก่อนปิดเกมไปทำงานต่อกลายเป็นนั่งเล่นรวดเดียวจนจบโหมดเนื้อเรื่องของแพทช์เพราะเขียนเรื่องได้สน��กจนวางไม่ลง (นานมาแล้วที่ไม่ได้เสพสื่อแล้วมีความรู้สึกเหมือนกลับไปตอนยังเป็นเด็กที่ติดอะไรงอมแงมแบบนี้) แต่สิ่งที่ชอบมากที่สุดในเกมนี้คือ 'ทัศนคติ' ซึ่งนี่อาจเป็นจุดที่ทำให้เกมจีนยุคใหม่แตกต่างจากเกมญี่ปุ่นและเกมเกาหลี

ถ้าให้วิจารณ์เกมนี้แบบละเอียดก็เกรงว่าจะยาวเกินไปงั้นพอแค่นี้ก่อน

การได้เล่นเกมที่ทางทีมงานมี passion ในการผลิตและใส่ใจในทุกรายละเอียดแล้วก็รู้สึกดี จะจำความรู้สึกนี้ไว้ตอนเขียนงานตัวเองจะได้ส่งความรู้สึกดีๆ แบบนี้ต่อให้กับผู้อ่านบ้าง

ช่วงนี้ทำแฟนอาร์ตบ่อยหน่อยเพื่อเปลี่ยนบรรยากาศและทดลองอะไรหลายๆ อย่าง หยุดเขียนไปนานยอมรับว่าสนิมขึ้นนิดๆ (ฮา…) กำลังปั่น In the Closet ตอนใหม่อยู่ถ้าเสร็จทันจะรีบอัพเป็นของขวัญปีใหม่ให้กับผู้อ่านทุกท่าน

Spathodea from patch 1.5 of Reverse: 1999 was one of my favorite characters in this game. I appreciate how the developers didn’t hesitate to assign ‘masculine’ professions to female characters, as this time they made Spathodea a boxer. Around 20+ years ago when I started my career as a comic creator, I faced hatred, bullying, and sexual harassment for featuring non-sexualized women as my protagonists and assigning them ‘masculine’ professions like police officers or soldiers. Back then, I couldn’t imagine that society would ever become as open-minded as it is today (but sadly, in my country still not so much).

I hope that someday gender discrimination can be resolved, allowing women to pursue any path they choose without judgment from society. May all female characters in open-minded media reflect this future.

สิ่งหนึ่งที่ผู้เขียนชอบในเกม Reverse: 1999 คือการที่ผู้พัฒนากล้าที่จะกำหนดให้ตัวละครหญิงมีอาชีพที่สังคมมองว่าเป็น 'อาชีพผู้ชาย' เช่นในคราวนี้ที่กำหนดให้ Spathodea เป็นนักมวย และไม่ใช่แค่กำหนดอาชีพเพื่อ sexualize ตัวละครแบบการวาดสาวอกสะบึมแต่งชุดวาบหวิวถือปืนซึ่งดูแล้วไม่น่าจะมีความสามารถในการรบแล้วบอกว่าเป็นทหารแต่สร้างบุคลิกและภูมิหลังของตัวละครให้ดูมีน้ำหนักมากพอให้เชื่อได้ว่าคือคนอาชีพนี้จริงๆ เมื่อเทียบกันแล้วสมัยผู้เขียนเริ่มอาชีพนักเขียนการ์ตูนเมื่อ 20 กว่าปีก่อนผู้เขียนโดนเกลียด โดนบุลลี่ และถูกคุกคามทางเพศเพราะเขียนงานที่มีตัวเอกเป็นผู้หญิงที่ไม่ตรงตามมาตรฐานความงามของสังคมและกำหนดให้ตัวละครมี 'อาชีพผู้ชาย' อย่างเช่นตำรวจหรือทหาร ตอนนั้นผู้เขียนนึกภาพไม่ออกว่าจะมีวันที่สังคมเปิดกว้างมากเท่านี้ (แต่น่าเสียดายที่บ้านเรายังไม่ค่อยเปิดกว้างเท่าไร)

ผู้เขียนหวังว่าสักวันผู้หญิงทุกคนจะสามารถประกอบอาชีพและใช้ชีวิตได้อย่างอิสระโดยไม่โดนสังคมตัดสิน และหวังว่าจะมีสื่อที่เปิดกว้างกล้าแสดงบทบาทของผู้หญิงที่หลากหลายขึ้นในอนาคต

ปล. หลังจากทดลองหลายๆ อย่างกับแฟนอาร์ตทำให้รู้ว่าการเลือกสไตล์เส้น สี กับสัดส่วนตัวละครให้เข้ากับมุกตลกนี่ยากจริงๆ มุกบางประเภทถ้าใช้สไตล์เส้นที่ไม่เข้ากับมุกก็จะสื่อสารความตลกออกมาไม่ได้กลายเป็นแป๊กไปซะฉิบ

Plague Doctor : Tooth Fairy's Costume Design

Tooth Fairy is one of my favorite characters from Reverse: 1999. Her initial design is already cool but I'd like to see her in an alternate costume that better complements her profession and equips her to face more danger. Initially, I was torn between a strictly medieval design and a futuristic one (the classic Plague Doctor design was tempting, too). Ultimately, I decided on a fantasy-retrofuturism design that aligns more closely with the costumes of other Foundation officers (after all, she is one herself so her outfit should reflect that, right?).

Tooth Fairy เป็นหนึ่งในตัวละครจาก Reverse: 1999 ที่ผู้เขียนชอบมาก ดีไซน์แรกของเธอดูเท่อยู่แล้วแต่ผู้เขียนอยากเห็นเธอในชุดอื่นที่เข้ากับอาชีพของเธอและช่วยให้เธอเผชิญกับอันตรายได้มากขึ้น ตอนแรกผู้เขียนลังเลว่าจะออกแบบโดยอิงจากชุดในยุคกลางดีหรือเอาแบบล้ำสมัยไปเลยดี (ดีไซน์ของ Plague Doctor แบบคลาสสิกก็ดูเท่ไปอีกแบบ) ในที่สุดผู้เขียนก็เลือกที่จะวาดแบบกึ่งแฟนตาซีกึ่งล้ำยุคให้สอดคล้องกับดีไซน์ของชุดเจ้าหน้าที่คนอื่นๆ ของ Foundation ในเกม (Tooth Fairy ก็เป็นเจ้าหน้าที่ของ Foundation คนหนึ่งชุดเธอก็���วรจะดูสมกับเป็นเจ้าหน้าที่ด้วยจริงมั้ย)
