i guess this is my talking about wonders post now, but i’ve been listening to retrowdw podcast and they brought up the point that pavilions aren’t really pavilions anymore in the way that you would walk into wonders and spend time exploring all the different offerings, part of the fun was in the discovery! and of course there’s always been headliner attractions but even in the case of something like imagination there was the imageworks and the magic eye theater which have become a tiny play area inside a gift shop with features that have not been updated since 2002 and a screening of shorts that you can watch on disney plus. it’s definitely a matter of generational shift where the smaller exhibits aren’t as interesting anymore now that they’ve become lower-tech than what’s on your phone, we have VR in the home now, whatever. hell, the jumping fountains outside used to be considered a feature on their own. but innoventions was my favorite part of epcot as a kid and that kind of discovery is just missing from epcot now…. i’m tired of it GOD i’m tired of modern themed entertainment.

more importantly, i have confirmation from my mom that i did, in fact, go to the wonders pavilion as a very small child! so at least i have that. i’ve scoured my childhood photo albums already but the trip that she specifically remembers going to wonders i’ve never seen photos from so hope is not lost if we can find wherever those trip photos are from. i would like to confirm that i saw buzzy with my own eyes

even in hindsight i would not have ridden body wars given the opportunity. what sick freak dreamed this up

At first glance, these three photos from Walt Disney World in 1971 appear quite ordinary. They show a young woman posing in front of Cinderella Castle while a custodial cast member walks by.

But is that really all there is to see?

Let's add a touch of animation and a dash of fictional prose to our Magical Trash and uncover the hidden story within these images. --- It’s October 1971, and Walt Disney World has just opened its gates. Glasses Girl stands confidently by Cinderella Castle, ready to pose for the perfect moment. Just as the camera is about to click, Castle Can Guy rolls by with his cart, interfering with her shot. Her annoyance quickly turns to a simmering rage as she glares at him, unnoticed by the oblivious cast member. Days turn into weeks, and Glasses Girl’s frustration festers into a dark obsession. She begins to follow Castle Can Guy, learning his routines and habits around the Magic Kingdom. Every blocked photo, every ruined moment fuels her desire for revenge. She starts to leave subtle traps and obstacles in his path… a spilled Citrus Swirl in Adventureland, dumped popcorn box in Fantasyland, each garbage drop more sinister than the last. One night, under the cover of darkness, she sneaks into the park, her heart pounding with anticipation. She knows tonight will be the night she finally gets her revenge. As Castle Can Guy makes his rounds, he finds himself in an eerily quiet part of Frontierland. Suddenly, the lights flicker and go out, leaving him in complete darkness. He hears a whisper behind him, “Magical Trash always comes first, right?” Before he can react, Glasses Girl steps out of the shadows, her eyes gleaming with a vengeful fire. The last thing he sees is her triumphant smile as she exacts her long-awaited revenge.
