Here is my doll that I made for @retrodollsus Celestial Beings Swap that sadly got cancelled due to the outbreak. I was inspired by the beautiful elaborate dresses featured in the Beijing Olympics and the legend of Chang’e, so I decided to make a queen of the cosmos with inspiration of Chinese fashion. I have always wanted to make an elaborate Chinese headdress for a doll, it was tough making one this tiny. It was made out of a pixie sculpt, gold paint and lots of rhinestones and is secured with a pin that is removable. The colorful spandex that was from @yayahan’s cosplay fabric line was perfect for doll scale because it drapes over the skirt perfectly and I didn’t need to fray check it, the effect reminded me of auroras. Meet Ginger. She is the witch from Hansel and Gretal. I know, she’s bees described as an angry old hag that wants to eat children, but really that story was a lie. Those kids were trouble makers. That’s the real reason their father left them in the woods. He was at his wits end with them. They are destructive, mischievous trouble makers. They were asked nicely to not tear my house down. But they wouldn’t stop! I’m a creative architect actually. My mother makes all these beautiful candies and I wanted to show her how amazing they are, so I built my house out of them. I surround my self with everything that inspires me. The colours and smells from the candy is my inspiration. Sure, I’m a witch too but that has nothing to do with it. I mean my broom is purple, how evil can I be?!? I was fed up with those kids so I did catch them, but I totally took them back to their father. I didn’t want them destroying everything I make. He was pretty embarrassed, so they created this lie about me being evil and having to kill me. Whatever, as long as they keep their grubby hand off my designs!!! The hardest thing about being a creative person is people saying “I can do that” or “you should do this” or just being negative. Enjoy the art and concepts that have been created. All that time and effort that’s gone into it, believe me there are blood sweat and tears involved in most pieces, but most of all there is love and soul. Don’t diss someone’s work when it hold apart of their soul in it. . . . She gave me some awesome ideas to go with, but I was most excited to create the Witch from Hansel and Gretal. It took me so long to create as it was the first doll I started working on after Winter Belle ❄️🛎 was born. So, she’s even more special 😉. . . I was so excited. She has a number of tattoos I drew. Surprised myself with how they turned out! Yay for magnifying glass lights!!! . . I attempted doing curls with perm rods... that was an epic failure. Instead I used a curling iron. Easier, but a bit more burny. I hand painted tiny details on her shoes AND... AND, I totally made a broom!!! I was pretty happy with how that turned out. Go me! I made a broom!! Ha! I can’t sew well, but I can make the crap out of a broom!!
