—The clan Rethan has famously built a hunting lodge halfway-or-so to Hla-Oad, at a place called Odai Plateau—most singular location in a way of being at the intersection of three different biomes, each encapsulated by mountains: the swamps of Bittercoast, the fungal verdance of Odai valley and further down the stream—a taste of ash-swept wastes. Though not much of a hunter myself, having went on a few hunts hosted by Rethans I can say those sport a kind of a unique, kaleidoscopic, quality—both in terms of weapons used and the variety of game (including the one Bosmers infamously call: the most dangerous prey in the world). The day-long hunt commenced in Bittercoast, proceeding clock-wise across the river by a boat which kept coursing alongside the bank for our convenience. Among the score of Netch, Nix Hounds, Shalks and one Kagouti, I've managed to down a flying flock of Cliffracers with a well placed fireball—quite an accomplishment, if I do say so myself.
P.S: I've also attained some proficiency at telling hunting stories, which in the same way as big-fish stories of the Isle of Stirk lean towards exaggeration.

Backstory
There once was a pirate crew feared along the northern coast of Tamriel. They created chaos and plundered countless towns within the Empire. One day, not long after they had raided Dawnstar, they heard something start to cry. The captain ordered them to search for the source, so the crew did, and they found an orc baby.
The pirates, though cruel, would not harm the child. Instead, they named her Ragash and took her along to be their chore girl. She spent ten years with them before a long-building mutiny split the crew in half. The captain won, but Ragash ran off with the few survivors.
They found a ship and built up their own crew and a hoard of treasure over the next four years. They weren’t as famous, but they were still good. Ragash played a key role in this time, so when their captain got captured in a town, she took his place despite only being fourteen. She led them like a storm. Despite the danger during this time, the crew had lots of fun.
However, Ragash’s impulsivity came back to bite her in the butt. At sixteen, she trusted a new recruit to steer the ship at night despite all the ice in the sea. The recruit hit an iceberg, and the ship sank. Ragash was the only survivor. She made it to a town, but she got captured and taken to an Imperial prison. Eventually, she was transferred and met the emperor.

after i found that out i knew exactly where to look for the hlaalu one bc i had also been there to kill everybody, but also bc even before that, before the time in the game when rethan manor is constructed, i always thought it was just a weird empty place that had like, its own path up to it. turns out that's bc game design baby!
also i like that that map has the house stronghold locations marked on it (uvirith's grave, bal isra, and the odai plateau)

A vast improvement on the Hlaalu Stronghold in Morrowind, today's Mod of the Day is taking a look at the beautiful Rethan Redivivus mod by Istreddify. Overhauling both the exterior and interior of this Hlaalu abode, this mod transforms Rethan Manor from a rather neglected little estate on the Odai River into a proper cozy home fit for a Hlaalu noble, with expanded and redecorated quarters, including lavish dining chambers, a proper study, kitchen, storage room and vaults where you can lock away your most precious possessions.
This is certainly one of the better looking Rethan Manor overhauls out there, and while it doesn't expand the settlement in any way or add any new quests, it's still a vast improvement over the vanilla game, and perfect for those wanting a better Hlaalu player home but don't want a big expansion to the Odai Plateau.

A truly scenic and beautiful expansion and overhaul to the Hlaalu Stronghold on the Odai Plateau, today's Morrowind Mod of the Day is Resplendent Rethan - Jewel of the Odai by Team Azturnal. A complete transformation for the Odai Plataeu, this mod includes a visual makeover for this slice of the Odai, adding scenic waterfalls and a new road that connects directly to Hla Oad. In addition, it adds 6 new buildings, which will appear at various development stages, giving your stronghold the look and feel of a proper trading town, with docks, stables, and even an expansion for your egg mine. Combined with a cozy and atmospheric overhaul of Rethan Manor itself, this is honestly one of the best expansions and overhauls for the Hlaalu Stronghold out there, though it does come at the cost of a large number of mod conflicts. Still, if you're a fan of Great House Hlaalu and you're looking for a Rethan makeover, this is an absolutely fantastic mod to check out for yourself!
