The antique icon of the Resurrection that you can see in the featured image is a good example of the influence of Western European art on Russian iconography. The icon itself was painted by an anonymous master from the Russian North (Vologda region) in the 18th century, while its silver oklad was made much later in St. Petersburg in the 19th century. The work is considered a wonderful example of the late Baroque style of Eastern Orthodox iconography. Learn more about it on our blog.

Matthew 28:2-3 Link: bible-illustrated.blogspot.rs/2015/10/matthew-282-6.html
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

To help us avail ourselves of that loving mercy, Fr. Brooks focuses on what we know of God's Mercy, our response to His Love, how we can become merciful to others, and how to become apostles of mercy.  Bonus: At the end of this presentation, the Divine Mercy chaplet is led by Fr. Francis Peffley, Mark Forrest - an Irish tenor, and Muriel Forrest. We hope you enjoy it. You don't want to miss it!  #Catholic #CatholicTO #Radio  #DivineMercySunday #StpopejohnpaulII  #God #Jesus #Toronto #catholicMedia  #Passionists #Teopoli #radioTeopoli #Prayer #Prayer #BeaPassionist  #Brampton #Mississauga #AM530  #EvanovRadioGroup #CatholicRadio #Podcast #Love #Easter #ResurrectionofJesus #StFaustina  #Saints #DivineMercyChaplet #Rosary  #CatholicDevotions

Baptism Into Christ
What is Sin and why is it so important to get rid of it?
1 John 3:4 according to God’s Word Translation tells us “Those who live sinful lives are disobeying God. Sin is disobedience.”
To sin is to separate yourself from Christ and reject all He has done for you.
While studying Romans 6, i saw something that some of us may forget, choose not to remember or may not understand. Romans 6 goes on to talk about our baptism into Christ and explains it in details.
You have been tied to Christ!
Romans 6:1-7 (GW)
No Longer Slaves to Sin, but God’s Servants
What should we say then? Should we continue to sin so that God’s kindness will increase?
That’s unthinkable! As far as sin is concerned, we have died. So how can we still live under sin’s influence?
3 Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 When we were baptized into his death, we were placed into the tomb with him. As Christ was brought back from death to life by the glorious power of the Father, so we, too, should live a new kind of life. 5 If we’ve become united with him in a death like his, certainly we will also be united with him when we come back to life as he did. 6 We know that the person we used to be was crucified with him to put an end to sin in our bodies. Because of this we are no longer slaves to sin. 7 The person who has died has been freed from sin.
Romans 6:3-4 says we were baptized into Christ. That means we have been tied to all He did and Has done including the baptism of death.
What is... The Baptism of Death?
Oh my! Well, it’s the moment you were tied to the First Son of many (Jesus) in death. After all man had died and Jesus had to die to give life to man. He became like man. Hebrews 2:17 “Therefore, it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then he could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.”
Before Jesus came, He had a LIFE in God and that Life was God Himself. God needed to share that LIFE with you and I. Hence, He sent that LIFE to come and die for us but also with us. That life was and is Jesus. He came to connect us with that LIFE. In fact, when He came as that life he mentioned it in John 10:10 (NIV) “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” He also mentions it in John 5:40 “Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life.” The Baptism of Death represents us being tied to Jesus in death so in death, burial and resurrection we shall remain one and share in the Glory of His Father. What the tying did was when He was raised from that death through the Glorious Power of the Father, we would be pulled up along with Him.
So let’s take a scriptural look at what went down when Jesus was pulled out of death and when He ascended along with those who had been tied to Him.
Matthew 27:52-53 (NIV) “and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead. They came out of the tombs after Jesus' resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.”
Psalm 68:18 (ESV) You ascended on high, leading a host of captives in your train and receiving gifts among men, even among the rebellious, that the LORD God may dwell there.
Ephesians 4:18 (ESV) Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”
Romans 6:9 (GW)  We know that Christ, who was brought back to life, will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him.
What does this mean for Christ and for us who have been made one with Him?
Well for us to understand this we need to understand death and what purpose it serves.
Death is a judgment received for sin aka disobedience.
“The payment for sin is death, but the gift that God freely gives is everlasting life found in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (GW)
God talking to Adam in Genesis 2 was also God telling Him about this verse. Take a look below:
Genesis 2:16-17 (AMP)
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may freely (unconditionally) eat [the fruit] from every tree of the garden; but [only] from the tree of the knowledge (recognition) of good and evil you shall not eat, otherwise on the day that you eat from it, you shall most certainly die [because of your disobedience].
The First part represents God’s free gift (everlasting life) while the other part represents the wages of sin.
Let’s get back to Jesus having to die.
Jesus couldn’t die if he had no sin upon Him! Sin is the passage way to death.
Now, that same verse (Romans 6:9) makes us understand that death no longer has any power over Him. Death can only have mastery over that which is under its control - the dead (those who have received their wage of sin). He took away the sins of the world so death has no power over any one.
2 Corinthians 2:14 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.
Create time to study Romans 6 and let God show you all that HE has done for you.
Choose to be in God’s protection!
Live His LIFE!

Dear Jesus Generation,
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come!
If you are in Christ, meaning, if you have accepted Jesus, as your Lord & Saviour - then you are a New breed, New Race, New Creation, New Species, New Life-form, because of The Blood of Jesus, The Finished work of Jesus on The Cross and by The Resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
You are Special. You are Unique. You are a Masterpiece.
Have these thoughts in your mind, even as you start this new day.
God bless !!!

The Orthodox icon in the featured picture is distinguished by the inclusion of “The Only Begotten Son” scene, also known as Monogenis. It is enclosed in the medallion in the uppermost tier. What you see is the illustration of the troparion (a short hymn of one stanza) to the Church dedicated to the Economy of Salvation. Traditionally, the scene of the Resurrection is the centerpiece surrounded by the Great and Minor Feasts and images of the Four Evangelists. The work was created in the 1840s in Palekh.

Matthew 28:4-8 Link: bible-illustrated.blogspot.rs/2017/04/Mt2804.html The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word.
