Very Late but...

When I found out Carrie Fisher had died, I was in the mall with my family. We were outside of this arcade and my mom looked at her phone, rolled her eyes and said, “Carrie Fisher died.”

I stopped. I started tearing up when my ‘’mom’ yelled, “YOU DIDNT EVEN KNOW HER! DONT YOU DARE START CRYING!” I choked back my tears.

But the thing is mother mine, I did know her. She was a better role model for me then you ever were. I loved her like a daughter should love her mother. She helped me love my illness. She was amazing. She was unapologetic about who she was and that was the most beautiful thing about her.

Even though I don't really know much about Debbie Reynolds and what movies she's been in, I'm still so sad because mother and daughter passed away way too close together! The year began with the death of Bowie, and ends with the passing of the Princess. In-between, we lost so many legends, and suffered many personal trials. Still, I choose to keep fighting.
