❝ that’s all history is after all: scar tissue. ❞
{ cis-man, he/him }  huh, who’s FROY GUTIERREZ? no, you’re mistaken, that’s actually SCORPIUS MALFOY. he is a TWENTY-TWO year old PUREBLOOD wizard who is A HEALING APPRENTICE. he is known for being CAPTIOUS, RETICENT, FACETIOUS, DISMISSIVE, and DRAMATIC but also RESOURCEFUL, CONSCIENTIOUS, FERVENT, INNOVATIVE, and OBSERVANT, so that must be why he always reminds me of the song IN DREAMS BY BEN HOWARD. i hear he is aligned with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, so be sure to keep an eye on him. { merry, 24, gmt, she/they }

Full Name: Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy Gender/Pronouns: Cis man | he/him Age: Twenty-three Birthdate: January 20th Parents: Draco Lucius Malfoy & Astoria Céline Malfoy (née Greengrass) [Not biologically Astoria’s due to her health, if you ever point this out he’ll flay your eyeballs] Siblings: N/A. Birth place: St. Mungo’s Hospital, England Height: 5’11” Weight: 56 kg Sexual/Romantic Orientation: Demiromantic Bisexual Nationality: British Body Alterations/Marks: A ragged diamond shape scar at the base of his throat.
Blood Status: Pureblood Hogwarts House: Slytherin Wand Arm: Right Pet: His pet toad, Jarvis, recently passed away. Patronus: Arctic Fox Wand: 11 2/3 inches, Willow, Supple, Dragon Heartstring.
Willow is an uncommon wand wood with healing power, I have noted that the ideal owner for a willow wand often has some (usually unwarranted) insecurity, however well they may try and hide it. While many confident customers insist on trying a willow wand (attracted by their handsome appearance and well-founded reputation for enabling advanced, non-verbal magic) my willow wands have consistently selected those of greatest potential, rather than those who feel they have little to learn. It has always been a proverb in my family that he who has furthest to travel will go fastest with willow.
Personality Traits: Brilliance, innovative, empathetic, individuality, openness, social consciousness, inventive, logical, practical skills and self assertion; lack of attachment to people outside his circle and the “real world,” over-intellectualizing of the emotions, dismissive, anxious, crotchety tempered, facetious, rigid, prone to self-isolation, intellectual arrogance, and stubborn. Zodiac Sign: Aquarius/Capricorn Cusp Moral Alignment: Neutral Good Core values: Loyalty, Knowledge, Hope Four temperaments: Melancholic
HOGWARTS HOUSE ANALYSIS
Slytherin Primary and a Burned Ravenclaw Secondary.
Slytherin Primaries prioritize their own selves and loved ones first. Slytherins don’t feel guilty or selfish about this– they feel righteous and moral. The most important thing is to look after your own. Abandoning or hurting one of your own is the worst thing you can do.
A Burned Ravenclaw Secondary might want to be skilled, curious, and prepared, but they feel like they are (or like people think they are) limited, clumsy, or inconstant. Gathering knowledge, hobbies, skills, or tools is the right way to achieve their goals, but Burned Ravenclaws know that’s not going to work within their capabilities. So they take other paths and use other tools– maybe a Gryffindor’s bluntness, a Slytherin’s flexibility, or a Hufflepuff’s slow and steady dedication.
You may have a Hufflepuff Secondary Model.
Hufflepuff is the House of grit, reliability, and determination, and Hufflepuffs use those values to help live, act, and succeed. If you model Hufflepuff Secondary, you also value these things and like to live by them. You like to be hardworking, dedicated, and consistent– but you wouldn’t feel guilty for abandoning those values in the service of other, higher priorities. If there’s another, easier way to get what you want– you’d take it. You think hard work provides valuable rewards– and those rewards are why you work. The work doesn’t have persuasive value in itself.
Despite his very best resistance he’s always been pretty empathetic in nature, he tries to rule his emotions as well as he can but fails more often than not. He was always one of those toddlers that if another kid started crying he’d be right along with them, not because he wanted attention but because he just couldn’t not. A bit of a crybaby, has researched how to magically seal up his tear ducts. Obviously managed to keep the family’s flair for the dramatic there as well. After a few years he leant into the sarcastic vague-snobbishness to hide the core of overwhelming anxiety.
Just managed to scrape through his schooling with nearly all top grades, this isn’t really due to him being a model student. He has always accrued information with a voracious appetite. Any knowledge he could find, even if most people would consider it entirely useless. His mind clicks into that place? You can’t keep him away. However, when there is not an immediate stir of interest on his approach to a topic he has to fight with himself tooth and nail to carry on.
Predictably found exam season highly stressful, was never open about it but was quietly competitive and silently smug over his good grades. Could comprehend well above his reading level from an early age and would often look into experimental research and complicated magic but found himself lost in OWL level History of Magic when chapter upon chapter lay ahead of him about something that didn’t catch his interest. Some people he beat just to spite cause he hates them. It worked, whatever.
Tends toward introversion and finds himself tired sometimes quite easily by a large amount of social interaction. Witty and big-mouthed when he feels comfortable or is in the presence of those that embolden him and very likely to get flustered and snap at people when things are becoming a bit too much. Especially if he feels however unjustly that someone is blocking his escape. Has matured slightly in this since leaving school but it happens still, he’s just anxious. Quite fickle and can at the drop of a hat decide that he’s done with you for the day once his Give Me Attention Meter is maxed. Could be an absolute bloody brat when he felt like it but feels he has grown out of it, which he mostly has.
Always been very, very aware of many people’s distrust of him and his family, he used to sneer and play it up if anyone tried to bring up his dad and go on the offensive but was genuinely affected quite deeply by it all. In his early school years, despite his weakness to the cold, he constantly had his sleeves rolled up to the elbow so that his blank forearm was bared as a statement to just about everyone. I am not marked, I never will be. Now he’s older he has more of a handle on things and can be diplomatic in situations where people are clearly discomforted by his presence and his family history.
Even though the war culminated far earlier in this verse I imagine Scor would have had to have been relatively sheltered as a child if not for how emotionally sensitive and prone to periods of ill-health he was, it was definitely for his own safety. He is still the grandson of a known high-ranking Death Eater and that made him a media target and put one on his back for anyone else that might happen to be watching.
Never produced much of a talent for offensive magic and wouldn’t resort to those methods unless he had literally no other choice, not a front line fighter by any means. His talents with strategy, potion-making, healing and his perseverance with defensive magic are what define him to the Order. While everyone kind of knows who he hung out with at school and who his friends are he is deliberately very mischievous with releasing rumours and misleading people. He deliberately keeps his cards very close to his chest so most people don’t know that he is aligned with anyone, he usually uses glamours or a scarf to conceal his identity if he has to.
While he is knowledgeable about healing and anatomy, he is the WORST at taking care of himself. The literal embodiment of Healers make the worst patients, tends to forgo sleep and basic bodily needs if he’s locked into what he’s focusing on. Sometimes needs reminders to sleep and eat, like a child.
Healing is the most satisfying part of his life and he would never give it up, he likes to experiment as he has a fascination with magic and muggle science and where they might intersect. A fucking nerd honestly. While he thinks he’s being fairly subtle about it a large part of his academic life has been doused in research into blood maledictions, for obvious reasons. He does his best not to flutter too obviously around his Mum. She is capable and ten times stronger than he is.
Lives in a small studio flat in Diagon Alley that is mostly stacks of books and makeshift shelves.
the stillness of the world the moment you take the first step into fresh snow, cashmere and fine wool, the pearlescence of dreamless sleep draught, the scratch of a quill on parchment, faintly tremoring fingers, a shiver up your spine in a warm room, the exhilaration of a problem solved, a thunderous grey overcast sky, the bite of a stitching charm, sleeves rolled up to the elbows, petrichor, the burn in your eyes before a well of tears.
Always had somewhat fragile health tending toward sickly. Hands are never warm, his existence is an endless heat seeking mission.
Went to one Slug Club meeting and used his time to verbally berate and or challenge most of the contacts in attendance, he was not asked to return.
Potions Club, Charms Club, used to sometimes be willing to be dragged to Dueling Club but didn’t enjoy himself.
Plays quite a bit of chess.
Bruises like a fucking peach and scars so easily.
Views quidditch as a good fly spoiled.
Is a very skilled pianist almost entirely due to his Grandmother’s tutelage.
Surprisingly great with children/toddlers/babies, no one including himself expected this, he mostly feared them beforehand.
Bit of a mummy’s boy in that he practically GLOWS when people talk of Astoria’s achievements.
When he has time off from healing he will have chipped black nail varnish on.
Highly intelligent but rarely manages to match a pair of socks, chews his quills but no one else’s.
While very eloquent and well spoken, he is markedly less posh than when he first arrived at Hogwarts.
When he isn’t prone to bouts of insomnia he can take a nap pretty much anywhere. He was once found in a tree after several frantic hours search.

congratulations nyla !  this application was nothing short of exquisite. andrea is wholesome, and well rounded in the way you have thought her out and she seems like the perfect mortal counterpart to ATHENA. even through your descriptions and your sample, we could feel the regal hints and athena’s natural class shining through. we’re excited to see you interact with your first faceclaim choice: RACHEL WEISZ.
☆゚*・゚  OOC INFO.
Hello my name is Nyla and my timezone is PST. I’m an avid fan of Rick Riordan’s writing and have always loved Greek mythology. I’m currently in university working towards a dual degree in classics and English literature so you could say that studying Greek mythology makes up a big part of my life

☆゚*・゚ MORTAL NAME. JOB/OCCUPATION. BOROUGH/NEIGHBORHOOD.

The sound of stilettos on freshly waxed marble floors, signed contracts, expensive fountain pens, classic statues, glass cases of artifacts, a stack of books, hair wrapped into an elegant chignon bun, brownstone apartments, appointment books filled with cursive writing, impeccable perfection, expertly winged eyeliner, lunch break walks across central park.

I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take // vi. Everybody falls down, all the way down // vii. Ink on her skin incomplete // viii. Fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes // ix. I can hold the weight of worlds // v.In spite of all my fears, I can see it all so clear
☆゚*・ HOW WOULD YOU PLAY THEM?
Athena is completely at peace when she is hard at work. She does not enjoy remaining idle with nothing to do, she enjoys a challenge and would like nothing better than to be strategizing and solving problems all day as she is well aware that her mind is leagues beyond everyone else’s. A master of linguistics, she’s able to converse with anyone that she meets, understanding not only the language, but the inherent focus of what people try to tell her. She is comfortable in her solitude, conceding that her intelligence alienates her and puts barriers around her that make it seem like she is unapproachable, however, to the brave souls who do cross that self-made barrier, she is a loyal and determined friend and source of refuge. Athena is a very difficult goddess to impress, as she requires nothing less than perfection with every task, but that being said, she is also a goddess who will come to those who need her and help them when she can. She is not the most forgiving of the goddesses and has a penchant for striking back at those who go against her, making sure that she always has the last word, and that attitude extends to her fellow gods and goddesses – she can hold grudges for a very long time and she would not hesitate in retaliating when she feels that she’s been slighted.
Andrea was raised with a silver spoon in her mouth, adopted by a wealthy railway tycoon who was based in New York, she was more of a publicity stunt for his more charitable benefactors than anything else. It took time, but her adoptive father did grow fond of Andrea, spoiling her and ensuring that her thirst for knowledge was quelled with the finest education that money could buy, and a seat on many of the city’s philanthropic committees as she grew older. She attended Oxford university and holds several degrees, including an undergraduate degree in art history and a doctorate degree in curatorial studies. Having studied in London for most of her post-secondary career, she was able to travel Europe and become immersed in the art and culture that the world had to offer, but New York called and she decided that achieving her educational accomplishments, it was time to come home. Andrea has inherited Athena’s fierce and relentless nature, but she is warmer, and easier to approach, eager to help whenever she can. While she is very particular about the standard of her own work, she understands that she cannot demand the same level of perfection from everyone and regularly tries to check herself and adjust to come to the safer middle ground between her expectations and what is possible. She is highly respected in New York society, not by her adoptive father’s name, but because of the work that amazing work that she does in bringing great examples of art and culture to the city. Andrea has yet to tap into the battle and strategy side of her goddess counterpart, but she has always been interested in the history of war, and is sometimes approached by federal organizations like the CIA and Departments of State due to her expertise in foreign affairs and linguistics – both hobbies and subjects of interest that she picked up in university and continued to study in the little free time she had when she was not working on acquisitions for the museum. She lives alone in a brownstone townhouse in the upper east side, where many of her walls are covered from floor to ceiling with books and documents. She surrounds herself with them as they bring her joy, and she likes to know that her personal collection can rival those of the world’s most intellectual bibliophiles. Andrea is well connected but doesn’t keep many close friends because of how intimidating she can be, often resorting to dry humor and raised eyebrows. She questions people, and picks them apart from mere observations and often doesn’t even realize that she is being blunt or revealing truths that people would rather not hear.
1. are they more likely to stand with the pantheon or against it?
Athena will definitely stand with the Pantheon. She believes in necessary order, and believes that the Pantheon is the only way to achieve this. She believes that each God and Goddess has a role to fulfill, and without the order that this balance maintains, the world is sure to delve into complete chaos and discord.
2. what is their stand on mortals?
She sees humans as important. She is not naïve, and doesn’t believe that they are unnecessary because of their lack of powers in comparison to the Gods, but she does see how easily manipulated they are by their emotions. It irks her to see so many problems come from the human inability to control themselves, and has little patience for the errors that happen as a result. That being said, she does not give up on the human race as it is not in Athena’s nature to back down from any challenge, and she believes that with guidance and proper shaping, mortals have plenty to offer the world.
☆゚*・ SAMPLE PARA (OPTIONAL)
Heels clicking on the freshly waxed marble of the empty museum halls, Andrea looked around. In her opinion there was no greater privilege than the one that her job as curator provided her, being able to wander these halls and have access to all the art and history that the walls of the museum housed.  She knows everything there is to know about every piece, observing them and taking them in as if each object has a life of its own that is worth knowing, for that is how she feels about knowledge – something to be appreciated as one would appreciate another human being. Perhaps that was her mistake, seeing more worth in her solitude looking at the displays, than in idle conversations filled with small talk and topics void of substance.
She passes through the artifacts of war exhibit, impressed as she always is, with the job that the display staff have done to showcase the great artifacts on loan to the museum from Greece and Rome, but she can’t help but succumb to the chill that goes up her spine when she looks at some of the items. The freshly shined brass of the swords, the murals of battles from the myths that she knew almost too well… it’s almost as if she was a part of the history, and not just the acquisition of each item. Yes, she had chosen each piece and planned the exhibition in her head spending many sleepless nights going over the blueprints and plans, but looking at them now she felt like she could see the battles taking place, with flashes of faces that she did not completely recognize invading her mind as she walked through the room. Her hands grew cold, remembering scenes that she knew she had not taken from any movies, watching in disappointment from above at the recklessness that fueled battles, always thinking that there was a more strategic way to go about each play.
Chalking it up to lack of sleep and an attachment to the museum’s newest exhibit she cleared her throat and took a final look at the space, satisfied with her final run through before the ribbon cutting ceremony that afternoon, and sparing one last glance at the spears and shields that were displayed in their full splendour in the middle of the room, stamped and brandished with the familiar symbol of an owl’s intelligent eyes.

Creative Problem Solving Interviews
Robin Robin is a marketing specialist. She most recently worked as a Market Integration Manger for SEMI where she  was responsible for planning, development, implementation and monitoring of inbound marketing campaigns.
How do you generate ideas? I look for ideas in a variety of ways. Past experience, what the competition is doing, what is happening within the industry, what's new/original outside the industry that could be adjusted then applied for my need. Oftentimes, the best ideas come to mind when I’m not trying to come up with an idea, ie. while running.
What process(es) do you use to solve problems? Depending on the complexity of the problem, I may need to begin by identifying all the elements to the problem, then figure out the primary source of the problem. I’ll explore a variety of ways to solve the problem, depending upon the situation, who it impacts and how, and the urgency to resolve. I’ll reflect on resolutions to similar problems and their level of success. Then I’ll put together a plan (again depending on the complexity), implement, then measure the results.
Carlos Carlos is a graphic designer located in Santa Cruz, California. He is the Senior Graphic Designer for the Sereno Group Design Studio where he does real estate marketing for agents and specializes in photography.
How do you generate ideas? I primarily focus on first finding out what has been done in the past by others (creativity comes from observation!). I then organize what I like/dislike from other designs and combine them into a style that suits me. Google, Pinterest, Communication Arts Magazine are my best sources of inspiration. When the above doesn't work, I tend to organize my thoughts on paper until something clicks... A good relaxing walk by myself can also be quite rewarding to my thought process. I believe that there is also great power in letting things settle with time, so that the more refined brilliant ideas can surface.
What process(es) do you use to solve problems? I tend to design primarily on the computer, and only resort to sketching out ideas if I'm totally unsure of the direction I'm taking (I know, it seems backwards, but it works in a high speed work setting!). I find Mind mapping as a very useful way of linking random thoughts together that could lead to great results! My biggest challenge comes from not knowing how to execute an idea on the computer well enough, so in those cases, a great deal of time is spent researching tools and other ways of portraying what's in my head to digital form. Practice makes perfect!
Brooke Brooke is the Project Manger for the Sereno Group Design Studio where she is the liaison between the real estate agents and the designers. She manages the distribution of projects amongst the designers as well as manages office tasks. She has a background in graphic design and has been working in real estate marketing for over 10 years.
How do you generate ideas? Pinterest, Searching on the internet, making a checklist, talking to people, bouncing ideas off friends, going for a long ride and ideas just come to me (that actually works quite well), going for a drive and clearing my head to let things flow. It can happen anywhere and it's mostly through conversation or if something, I encounter something through my day to day activities that trigger something. I guess other people's success, art, problem solving where I see a need. Having to come up with ideas on the spot. Like writer's block, writers/creative block. Probably, the time of the day: if I'm tired or lack of sleep. I usually take a break, usually step away from it and try not to force answers. Then going back and going through what I do to problem solve.
What process(es) do you use to solve problems? Identify the problem. I'm good at writing stuff down, writing a checklist, writing stuff down that needs to be solved. Then going from there. Talking it through and then going through all the other steps to how to fix it. It depends on the project. I can recall a project in college, I didn't know what to do. Literally an idea popped in my head as I was driving, I wrote down all the notes as they come. I speak with other people to see if they agree or disagree and then I just get it done and completed the project. I don't make things harder than they need to be. A lot of people make things harder than they need to be which just causes more problems for themselves. I try to dumb things down to what things I need to do to get it done and eliminate all the unnecessary steps. I’m driven on getting problems completed so for me, it's very rewarding when I can complete a project and get it done and behind me, then I can feel rewarded.
