to quote my cognitive psychology prof
“I have never met a single good researcher in my field who’s ever been sure of anything. there’s the scientist guy in the movies who explains yadda yadda in exact terms who is absolutely right. every good researcher I’ve personally met is the most infuriating person to get an answer from because their answer to any question is “I mean, yes it could be that…but it could also be this, or this, we don’t know completely for sure.”. I mean, those movie guys might be out there. but I’ve never seen them. I’m not totally sure.”
that was his opening lecture, to explain to be a good scientist and researcher, you have to be aware nothing can be fully proven or disproven based on your evidence. you have to keep all points in mind to fully understand what you’re researching and your own limits.
unfortunately this also means any good researcher is pretty unsure of themselves because they’re considering all the different ways they might also be wrong here. so the stereotype of a nervous frantic scientist is very true, the haughty know it all who knows Everything Absolutely is pretty wrong unless you’re talking to someone who actually only knows jackshit. they’re just trying to convince you that They’re Right, not that the information is.
chatGPT is a formula for success, meaning it’s going to Lie to you for Success. it was created not by scholars but by people who prioritized speed over accuracy. no real scientist is going to give you an answer in a second. they’re gonna want to sit you down and talk extensively on the subject (time and person willing) because that’s their passion! there’s so much passion and wonder in science, it’s not supposed to be cold and calculated at all. cgpt takes human passion and creativity just to cannibalize and commercialize claiming it’s the same thing.
in a world where it costs so much money to be creative, cgpt is thriving because nobody wants to spend time on creativity they think can be done without effort, money, passion, or time. because nobody has any of that anymore. it thrives on consuming what little we have left to give to churn out More because we have nothing left to give in the machine of capitalism. we’re all so tired. but that’s never a reason to give up on our collective humanity and fake our way through our own creativity, our passion, our love for discovering the world, and expressing ourselves in it, no matter how hard, long, and badly we do it.
so yes the work you do matters, no matter if you’re doing it unsure, unsteady, or badly, at least you’re not faking your humanity. all it literally takes is passion to find out something more and to keep learning. fuck ai, fuck social judgment, and most of all, fuck capitalism. love your work and the communities you’re in bc without them, you’ll lose your mind. good luck and happy researching/writing/crafting!

Brainstorm's optics focus on the data pad in his servos, a hum resonates from him along with a small chirp as he filters through the multiple different subjects he had been doing research on. His processor aches from the amount of engex he had consumed the cycle before while at swerves.  The seeker haphazardly pays attention as he walks down the hallway of the corridors of the ship toward the lab, his optics flicker when they lock on the one of  liaisons, very specifically the Ambassador that he along with many others from the night before hand had been ‘fantasises’ about. 
 
 He had so many questions he wanted to ask them in person about human biology but in honesty didn't know where to start, they were an organic species, bipedal mammals who in many aspects were very similar to Cybertronians. His optics linger on them, taking in their frame type, tone and all up rather visual appeal. He could understand why humans were so sought after on the black market, they were soft and rather plus from what he could observe. 
" heya stormy" they call out with a smile as they make their way over to him. Brainstorm jolts from his musings, systems heating with embarrassment at being caught distracted by his thoughts, his engine lets out a hitched whine as fans whirl. But their smile seems warm, non-judgmental, and he relaxes fractionally, they didn't have the ability to read his processor, he was fine he rationalised to himself. 
"Ah, greetings, Ambassador!” He attempts to mask the fluster that was creeping across his plating, wings twitching lightly. "Lovely sol to find you up and about, I wasn't expecting to see you down in the labs this Cycle." He pauses with a. Raised optic rid wondering why they were down their way, they normally didn't make it a habit to visit the scientist. 
“ picking up some equipment Nautica got for my team, she's been helping a lot with our long range transmitter and also with us getting supplies on Ultra Magnus' request” they hum while carrying a small crate. 
His field radiates enthusiasm, if they were down here at that moment perhaps they had some time to spare him for his own pursuit in knowledge.  "Might I beg for a moment of your time? As Cybertron's chief scientist, I was hoping to inquire about Human biology if you had the time. our records only have some much information on your people and i believe a lot of it is rather outdated, if you'd feel comfortable sharing it could offer insights aiding our alliance." He asked, it was worth a shot and if they Were to busy he could always ask one of the other humans.  
They give Brainstorm another sweet smile as they begin walking beside him towards his destination, they hike their crate of equipment highter as to keep grip on it. "Sure I'm happy to answer questions, it's not like I have much going on at the moment, last I heard Megatron and Mags have Rodimus doing my paperwork as punishment for trying to take Rikko Asteroid surfing.” they laugh as the words fall from their lips. Remembering the look on the speedster face when he had more reports dropped on him. 
“ but if we are gonna play twenty questions you better make it fun!" They tease in a singy song voice. Brainstorm's optical ridges curiously curiously beneath his faceplate at the human's playful jest. He lets out his own amused chuckle at the idea of Rodimus suffering even more paperwork, he didn't envy the Captain and even less so the aching processor he was most likely nursing after the drinks from the late cycle. 
"Scientific inquiry as a game, eh? Now there's an intriguing proposition!" His wings fluttered, promptly intrigued with the idea. Data collection through entertaining exchange sounded rather fun compared to the normal exchange he had with Perceptor. A mischievous lilt crept into his tone as he slowly matched their pace walking together his optics flicker down to them taking in just how small they were compared to him. They just met his knee plating joints. humansWeren't nearly as small as a lot of Cybertronians were lead to believe. He remembered the first time ever seeing them he was quite taken back over their size originally expecting them to fit into the pal of his servo. But seeing them in real life had made him realise a lot of what he believed or old records were rather incorrect over humans, and their biology. 
 "Very well. First question: what gives you energy - nutrient paste, energon, the taste of victory?" His visor gleamed roguishly the last question was more a tease but he found it amusing to watch their reaction. The liaison lets out a hearty laugh at the first question. " hahahah oh by the stars, you really don't get alot of human Visitors do you?. So most of what humans as a whole eat is a mix of meat, fruit and vegetables. We need a mixed diet due to being an omnivorous species, but it varies person to person" they explain, giving his leg a gentle nudge with their elbow. 
Brainstorm cycled his optics,parsing this new data on their nutritional requirements with keen interest, it also gave him more information to jot down later.but he is utterly fascinating that a species derived sustenance from multiple organic compounds rather than a single standardised fuel source. "Meat, fruits and vegetation, you say? Truly extraordinary." He made a note to research Earth's ecological climate zones and harvest periods, he was rather interested in seeing what earth produced, Earth had become one of the largest suppliers of energon when cybertron was being rebuilt as it was a common occurring element on earth, it became the main trade source between the two planets.
"What about cybertronians? Do you guys only consume Energon or do you have other things, i know earth supplies quite a lot of energon to cybertron but do you guys only consume it ?" As they returned the query, he waved a languid hand. "Energon in its various forms comprises the bulk of a Cybertronian's fuel intake, though rarely do we consume it in its raw state. Refining introduces necessary additive alloys and minerals to suit an individual's frametype and occupation. Medics also develop specialised fuel mixes for patients. But we do consume other elements, oils, metals and crystals are other necessary for different platingsor frame types " His wings fluttered in delight talking about the different compounds of energon and how it was used. He was no chemist but did enjoy dabbling in creating different flavoured energon.
 "Recreational enjoyment of other sustenance is not unheard of, however. Certain sensory-inducing additives have been experimented with at social gatherings, such as High grade, energex are a subcategory of energon which has a different effect on a processor compared to casual energon, med grade and such" he hums while explaining the different types of fuel, from the causal to the luxurious. 
“Ah so similar to Alcohol for humans, that's quite amusing actually and explains why Rodimus tends to look like he's hung over” they chuckles again remembering how dead on his feet he looked that morning when they had met for a meeting with the command.
“Oh I wasn't aware humans also had similar, but yes energex and high grade have a rather intoxicating effect and lossens intakes while in group gatherings.” He replies. As they make their way into the laboratory. Perceptor is off in the distance and shoots them both a look as Brainstorm slowly lifts them up onto the bench. Before continuing their conversation. 
“ you mentioned something about chemists, what do cybertronian chemists do?” The Ambassador asks while they place their crate down and begin engaging in conversation once again. Brainstorm felt Preceptor's optics tracking the pair curiously as he began another explanation. “Chemists tend to have a range of different fields, the easiest way for me to explain would be to say that Swerve is a Chemist” His optics shimmer in delight as they trade back Information with the human sitting on the bench. 
“I thought Swerve was a bartender?” They reply with a tilted head, their brows pinch in an almost adorable expression to Brainstorm. He has to keep his engine from making a whine at the adorable look. His EM field dances with interest for them. 
“Indeed, chemists work with making, distilling energon and other substances. So in one way Swerve is a chemist but so is Ratchet but they make very different products” He explains. 
“That's so cool, almost like being a human chemist, baker and bartender in one” they hum as they take in the new information they were learning. His optics linger on their hands for a moment before he decides to change the subject of fuel sources. 
"With your permission, I find human epidermal structures utterly absorbing," he began. "The intricate pigmentation patterns, tactile sensitivity... might I?" A single digit hovered millimetres above a forearm, awaiting the liaison's consent before even the faintest contact. It takes them a moment to register the terms from Brainstorm but once they realised he was asking to examine their arm. “Oh sure just wait a second” reply before rolling their sleeves up, hold their arm out to Brainstorm to look at. It catches Preceptor's attention as he raises an unamused optic at how brasin Brainstorm was being.
 "Also heads up you don't need to treat me like glass, humans are pretty resilient so you're not gonna hurt me by touching me unless you're actually trying" they inform. "My thanks for the clarification, as I explained earlier, a lot of our records on Humans is rather outdated, however I'd rather not cause you harm" he responded gently, servos dancing over their arm gently as he takes in the man different markings, patterns and colours that mark their skin. It's highly fascinating to him and he found another reason he believed humans were sought after. It wasn't a subject of cybertronian history he liked but he was interested in learning why humans were so sought after. Soft, pliable, small and would have mostly been very docile. It sent a rattle up his spinal struts as he tries to push the thought a side. 
A single digit traced the patterns of tactile receptors watching the way the little bumps spread across their skin in a visual response to his touch. "Fascinating... your epidermal sensory network far surpasses initial database entries. I've never seen such colours either its stunning" His field pulsed appreciative curiosity as he traced the lines and marking that look like they are hidden under the Ambassador's skin, it makes him wonder how far the marking go but decided it would be pushing it to try and see more, but he knows he will be fantasising about tracing the markings. 
From the corner, Perceptor cleared his vocalizer. "Yes, human biological studies hold fascinating merit. Brainstorm, do refrain from unnecessary experimentation." The other bots voice calls out as he shoots Brainstorm, another disapproving look. 
Brainstorm dips his helm respectfully as he pulls away lwtting the Liason pull their sleeve back down. "No disrespect intended, Perceptor. Merely exploratory observation. Scientific progress warrants cross-cultural exchange plus we need to also rework our old records on human functions, biology and culture." His visor brightened, dispite Preceptor's tone Brainstorm was thrilled with the new knowledge he had gathered just from this meeting.
"Oh don't worry Percy. I doubt Stormy brought me here to experiment on, plus he's curious. I can't say I'm not also curious about you guys either, Earth doesnt have alot of information on Cybertronians outside of the small stuff we had from when you guys were stuck on earth. So i'm happy trading information because we are both interested in learning about each other's people. " They shoot back at the other scientist. Preceptor's optic ridges pinched ever so slightly at the human's familiar tone, though he made no further protest. If they felt at ease with Brainstorm's studies, who was he to force caution upon willing participants? "See that your... observations proceed responsibly," he calls out, it's aimed at Brainstorm but the seeker does not fret too much. 
The two continue chatting between each other trading information with small jokes between them every now and then. The liaison kicks their legs back and forth on the table. It gives Brainstorm the opportunity to truly look at them and appreciate how soft they are, a lustful thought crossing his mind and EM field pulsing lightly which makes Perceptor snap his helm to look at them again. Perceptor narrowed his optics warily at Brainstorm. :. Brainstorm a word.: the other scientist states through comms which makes the seeker go ridged, wings flickering in discomfort. 
Clearing his vocalizer loudly, Perceptor took a deliberate step forward. "Perhaps we will catch you another Cycle Ambassador, Brainstorm and I have much work to attend to, and we wouldn't wish to keep you any longer" he interjected coolly. For his part, Brainstorm cycled a ventilation and reined in his field, hed just had Perceptor call him out on it and the embarrassment was showing with each flutter of his wings. 
The Liaison gives the two scientists a wave once they are set back on the ground. "Well I'll catch you both another time, I'm going to go talk with Swerve about energon, you have me rather intrigued to learn more " They call out lifting their crate back up while heading to the door. Once they had left the Lab it had Brainstorm shifted warily under the weight of Preceptor's dissecting gaze. 
"The human liaison has graciously undertaken representing their kind aboard an unknown vessel to foster cooperation between species. Jeopardising such an auspicious start through any misguided impulse would severely damage relations." 
Pausing his tasks, Perceptor affixed Brainstorm with a searching stare, optics bright with both caution and care for his foolish yet brilliant colleague. "I need not remind you of one of your talents, the fragility of organic creatures compared to our frames.”
Brainstorm shuffled awkwardly beneath the Preceptor's scrutinising gaze. His usually nimble processors faltered grasping a suitably cogent response, field radiating discomfort through scrambled modulations. How to explain such rash intrigues ebbing his usually steady rationale? "Ah...you raise entirely fair points, as always, Perceptor," he demurred, fidgeting with a gripper. "To be perfectly forthright - and at the risk of sounding like a sparkling with his first crush - there's simply something innately captivating about these diminutive humans! Their resilience, ingenuity, curiosity..." His plating flustered with static. 
"And I'll admit, it's not just my scholarly interest piqued. Even the most stoic among us seem charmed by our new small friends." He cycled stabilising ventilation. Wings fluttering weakly, Brainstorm inclined his helm. "Brainstorm pleas for the love of whatever deity you believe be it primus or else Do Not Frag the Ambassador!, they are one of our heads, they work closely with our captains and if you mess Slag up it will be your helm" Perceptor groans out as he pinches his nasal ridge.
Brainstorm's plating flared hotly at Preceptor's emphatic directive. "I - of course not, you must think me a complete naïve sparkling!" he sputtered, waving his gripper defensively. "Mere scholarly observation was my intent, nothing untoward, I assure you, yes I'm intrigued by Humanity and the liaison is rather charming I'm interested in the scientific study of humanity, to rewrite the small knowledge we have on them!"  
Venting sulkily, he leaned against the bench servos tapping into the metal. "Though I'll note, my interests seem far from singular. Last night's engex-fueled discussions had a few of us a little too invested in compatibility. All I'm saying is curiosity seems widespread! So while your cautions are well-founded..." His plating flustered again helplessly, wings fluttering as they would when he was interested in something. 
 "Brainstorm we are not doing this" Perceptor states as he turns away from his fellow scientists. "Wait just a klik, Percy - don't think I fail to spot tangled undercurrents in that rigid plating of yours," he pushed, emboldened by this newfound insight. Cycling closer, his field pulsed a teasing nudge against his colleague's. "For all your lofty speeches cautioning restraint... could it be you harbour doubts following your own advice?" He teases only to get a nasty glare from the other mech. but decides it's better to just ignore Brainstorm at that point. “you know Swerve has bets on you, says your a dark horse waiting for a chance to sweet the Ambassador off their Pedes” Brainstorm states trying to get a reaction out of Perceptor. It gets a wrench thrown at him.

Turquoise Lotus Father (Treasure Seekers Saga 2) - Chapter 13 - Etrian Odyssey 5 Fanfiction

Chapter 13:
“Are you sure you’re up for this? You still look pale.”
Drayce paused at the steps that led into the Council Building and turned to give Blayke his attention. Ever the worry-wort, Blayke looked at him with a frown on his lips and a concern furrowed of his brow.
In all honesty, Drayce didn’t feel the greatest. He slept surprisingly well, hadn’t awoken once. It was likely due to the fact that Zohar had kept watch over him, which wasn’t as awkward as it probably should have been. But he still felt a little bit nauseous and had a headache from hell. Both side-effects of that sleeping tonic or whatever that was used on him last night.
But he needed to tell Ramus what had happened to the token and how they were robbed. And if Drayce himself didn’t go to inform him, then the little prince would just worry needlessly.
“I’m all right,” Drayce managed a reassuring smile. “Just a little tired due to…whatever they used on me last night. It’s quite potent. As if they have a botanist on their side as well.”
If it was at all possible, the frown on Blayke’s lips deepened. “I see…”
“I’m just glad they didn’t go after Faelen or Caelem again,” Drayce continued as he turned and moved toward the stairs. He, however, shot a grin over his shoulder at Blayke. “Besides, you pulled an all-nighter, too.”
Blayke snorted lightly. “I still don’t look like shit like you do.”
“Rude.”
Mid way up the stairs, Drayce paused again and turned to Blayke with a request in mind. “Hey, Blayke, don’t mention to Ramus what happened to me in the library last night. I don’t want to worry him.”
Blayke took a moment to consider that and finally uttered a sigh. “Fine.”
‘But if it happened again’ was left unsaid. But Drayce definitely heard it in his head, in Blayke’s voice and all. And Drayce hoped that it indeed didn’t happen again. But…if it had to, for whatever reason, he hoped that it happened to him, and no one else of his guild.
They fell into silence as they made their way up the grand stairs of the Council Hall and entered the foyer. Once more, there were a throng of explorers lining up to speak with Ramus, the prince dutiful as ever.
Remembering Ramus’ request to not bother to waste time in lining up, and ignoring the side-eyes of annoyance from explorers in said queue, the two of them skipped to the front. And immediately gained the young prince’s attention.
“Ah, you’re back,” Ramus greeted them with a smile, somewhat surprised to see them again so quickly. But he seemed pleased to see them nonetheless. Yet, his smile dimmed significantly as a flicker of concern appeared in his eyes. “…Is there something wrong?”
“Oh, just a long night,” Drayce instinctively responded as managed a smile in an attempt to ease the prince’s concerns. “Nothing to worry about. “
Blayke side-eyed him before he turned his full attention toward Ramus. “We need to have another little…chat. If you’re not busy.”
“Of course not,” Ramus immediately replied as he motioned toward the hall leading to his office. “Come.”
The path to Ramus’ office was taken in silence once more. And the scene of them as they shuffle in, taking seats before the large oak desk, and Ramus shutting the door quietly was becoming increasingly familiar, too.
“I assume that something…untoward happened?” Ramus asked as he took a seat at his desk, much like he had done yesterday.
Blayke roughly folded his arms across his chest as he decided to take the lead for this conversation. “I’ll explain it as frankly as possible.”
He then promptly launched into a short, precise near rant about what had occurred in the library last night. He kept his word, thankfully, about not telling Ramus about how Drayce was also…attacked (for a lack of a better word). Or how he was still feeling the effects of the sleep tonic or poison that they used on him.
As Blayke finished his explanation, Ramus nodded his head quietly. And the expression of worry on his face was quite obvious.
“That’s…unsettling,” he murmured.
Blayke managed to stifle the desire to snort, and instead nodded his head as he leaned back into his chair. “No kidding.”
Ramus’ gaze trailed down to stare at the top of his desk as he folded his hands idly in front of him. “These bandits are proving to be quite dangerous,” he said after a moment of silence. “I will ask the guards to keep a look out for them.”
“That may cause them to take even more drastic actions,” Blayke was quick to point out.
The frown on Ramus’ lips deepened and he nodded his head slowly. “That’s true…though, we simply cannot let them run amok within the city’s limits so freely. Though…they do have free range, as they say, within the labyrinths.”
That was true. The guards of the city couldn’t patrol every nook or corner of the labyrinths. And the official way to the third floor hadn’t even been discovered yet. Intrepid and inquisitive explorers would know more about the halls of the labyrinths than the guards who are confined to rules and regulations.
And it was difficult to prove events or even crimes that occurred with no willing witnesses.
After a moment of contemplative silence, Ramus shook his head as if to clear it. And lifted his gaze from his desk to turn toward Drayce. “Do you mind if I ask how your research of this Turquoise Lotus Father is going?”
Well, that was his cue to get involved in the conversation!
“Ah, we’ve found a few pieces of information. And there’s a few individuals involved.”
Drayce took a second or two to practically gather his wits despite the thumping headache and actually remember all the pieces of information that both Shashi and Caelem had reiterated to him. And then he had to think of the best method to explain all of that to Ramus.
“Turquoise Lotus Father created the weapon known as Shining Lotus in order to enter the Legendary War because his brother, known as Blood Lotus Brother, had been possessed by a dangerous blade known simply as Cursed Blade. We don’t know who created this Cursed Blade or why it forced him to fight alongside The Despot. But from what we can deduce, Turquoise Lotus Father achieved his goal of freeing his brother, but the Cursed Blade still existed. The Blade Brothers and their close friend, a therian known as Sorataki, helped them to hide the blade to prevent another from being possessed by it. However, there is a fourth party involved. Another who was jealous of the Shining Lotus and wants to gain control over the Cursed Blade. From what we understanding, they also hid the Shining Lotus and left clues behind for future generations to uncover should the Cursed Blade ever awaken again.”
Ah…Yeah, he was pretty sure that was everything!
Wow, talk about a word vomit, huh?
Ramus fell silent as he tried to take all the information in. It took him a few moments as, really, there was a lot to digest. And with four individual parties potentially involved (perhaps even more), there were a lot of factors to take into consideration, too.
“And those bandits are after the Cursed Blade?” Ramus finally asked cautiously with a slight frown. “So why are they collecting the tokens?”
Drayce shook his head. That was a very good question. And the fact that they were involved made the entire thing far more complicated and confusing.
“I’m not entirely sure,” he replied. “I’m fairly confident that the clues we’ve discovered are meant to lead us to the Shining Lotus. And yet, they also seem to be indicating the Cursed Blade.”
Ramus gave a slow nod of his head before a curious expression flickered across his face. “Perhaps it depends on the intention of those who discover the clues?”
“That’s…possible,” Drayce murmured.
Like with how the Moon Legacy was created with good intentions only for those good intentions to become lost to time. Perhaps the brothers and their friend believed that the treasure chest with the map would remain in the hands of dedicated ancestors, only for the true reason to be forgotten. Or even stolen.
He hadn’t considered that possibility. He would need to speak with Shashi about it when he returned to the Crescentia.
“I’m afraid I am unable to offer you much assistance this time round,” Ramus went on to say with genuine regret in his voice. “The records of the Legendary war are quite ancient and I’m ashamed to admit, that even we are missing many a piece. I scarcely found any information on my ancestor’s trusted generals.” He shook his head, truly disappointed as his gaze downcast toward his desk once more. “It’s shameful.”
“Don’t feel bad,” Drayce immediately said in an attempt to reassure the prince. “It’s been a thousand years. And well we’re here now. We might be able to fill in the missing pieces.”
Ramus lifted his gaze and looked toward Drayce. A small smile made its way to him lips as he nodded. “Hmm. It seems that your library has far greater resources than the one we have here at the council.”
Drayce returned the smile with a playful one of his own. “Honestly, I have no idea what we actually have in that library of mine.”
Ramus continued to look at Drayce for a while, his gaze studying him. A very light furrow appeared upon his brow. But that was soon lifted and an expression of regal politeness made its way on his features once again.
However, there was a sense…of worry in his gaze.
“…You’ve been working hard,” he said, his gaze trained completely upon Drayce. “I understand your determination to put an end to this, but…take care of yourself.”
Drayce felt a sense of guilt appear in the centre of his chest. But he quickly squashed as he focused on smiling reassuringly at Ramus once again. “I’m fine, don’t worry.”
Ramus’ face was passive, but his gaze remained the same. And he didn’t appear entirely convinced. Drayce must look as washed-out as he felt. He…would have to try harder next time. If there was a next time, of course.
“We should get going,” Blayke was the one to state, prompting putting an end to both the conversation and Ramus’ inspecting, worried gaze toward Drayce.
“Yes, I imagine you have some…planning to do,” Ramus agreed as he pushed back his chair and took to his feet to do his duty of holding the door for them.
Drayce took to his feet, too. Purposely moving at his usual pace and ignored the way his head spun ever so slightly from the sudden movement. “We’ll be sure to inform you immediately should anything else happen,” he promised before he and Blayke bid their farewells and left the office.
As they headed down the stairs and past the still rather impressive queue of explorers and locals alike, Blayke suddenly grasped Drayce by the shoulder. Drayce had thought it was because he wanted his attention. But it was likely because he also missed a step on the stairs, his head still annoyingly spinning.
“He’s observant,” he said.
“Yeah,” Drayce murmured around a sigh as he touched his forehead tiredly. “So much for not worrying him.”
As they walked toward the carriage boarding area located outside the Council Hall, Drayce suddenly remembered something he deemed important. And since they were out and about, they might as well add a little errand to their schedule.
“Wait,” Drayce said as he and Blayke headed toward an empty carriage. “We need to head to the market place and get some more Ariadne Threads. For just in case something like yesterday happens again.”
Blayke looked mildly annoyed, obviously feeling fussy and just wanted to get Drayce somewhere he deemed safe. Yet, he also saw merit in the minor detour. “Fine. I’ll go in,” he said as he pushed Drayce to the carriage door. “You stay here with the carriage. You’re still too pale looking.”
“Ah, I’m fine,” Drayce instinctively replied as he took his seat on one side of the carriage. “I’m feeling better than I did this morning, I promise.”
Blayke didn’t verbally reply to that, however the look he gave him spoke volumes. It was a look that Drayce had seen multiple times in his life. A look that stated that while he didn’t feel like arguing, he believed that he was right. And would argue if he had to.
And, honestly, Drayce didn’t feel like getting into a sparring match with the other. Besides, Blayke would feel better if he could just be all protective and such.
“Alright, you worry-wart, I’ll stay put,” Drayce relented as he settled into his seat.
Blayke soon directed the driver toward the market area of the city before he climbed in himself. He promptly sat on the other side of the carriage. The carriage soon moved into motion and as they rumbled along the stone-cobbled streets, Drayce reached into the pocket of his trousers to pull out some money.
He thankfully had the habit of keeping a few en in his pockets for such occasions. In addition to the money for the carriage ride, of course.
The carriage soon pulled up toward the entrance of the market place. And Blayke once again gave him a stern look.
“I’ll be right back,” he said.
Drayce stifled a chuckle. If he didn’t know his best friend as well as he did, that could have been taken as a threat. “And I’ll be right here,” he promised as he handed him the money necessary.
As Blayke slipped out of the carriage, pausing only a moment to tell the driver to wait for him, Drayce leaned his head back against the head support of his seat. He heard the door of the carriage close and the sound of footsteps outside.
After that, he began to idly listen to the incoherent murmurings of voices of others going about their business outside. The noise was comforting in a way, and yet it also agitated his headache.
Man…whatever that harbinger used on him last night was potent. He also couldn’t help but feel that he had done something similar to that a few times before. The chloroform or whatever it was he used was far too potent to have been done once or twice. It was crafted to perfection. Not only did it render a person unconscious almost immediately, it reduced them to near-complete helplessness for hours afterwards.
Seriously, he had to make sure no one else came into contact with that…toxin.
Drayce was confused when he heard the door swing open and felt the weight of the carriage shift not long after Blayke had left. He was even more confused when the weight seemed to be leaning toward the other door.
He lifted his head up and opened his eyes. “Hm? You’re back early-”
However, instead of appearance of Blayke greeting him, there was another. Someone he could have done without seeing ever again. Long brown hair, an eye-patched, dressed in the garbs of a dragoon.
“Well, if it isn’t the Pretty Boy Treasure Hunter.”
Drayce reacted by slamming his back against his seat in an attempt to get away from the other man. “You…”
“It must be my lucky day,” Keane grinned as he lounged all-too comfortably in the carriage seat across from him.
“Pity I can’t say the same,” Drayce bit out before he had a chance to consider his actions.
“Now, that’s just mean, don’t you think?” Keane all but cooed at him.
“You would know a lot about that, am I right?” Drayce returned swiftly. “Like those two bandits of yours that followed me in the labyrinth the other day. And broke into my guildhouse.”
Keane gave a short, sharp laugh. “My, are you bitter about that?”
“Exceptionally so.” Drayce mustered up a glare, though he wasn’t entirely sure how…effective it was with him still combating the side-effects of whatever it was that was used against him last night. “There was no need to take a guildmate hostage.”
“The method is inconsequential when the end result is the desired one,” Keane responded and literally waved his hand dismissively. He soon dropped his hand to his knee casually as he leaned forward slightly, only to stare straight into Drayce’s eyes. “Besides, that's what you get for trying to deceive me.”
Drayce gritted his teeth. So, what happened last night was in response to the switching of the tokens. “…What do you want?”
Keane tapped his cheek in a mocking attempt to appear contemplative. “Oh, where should I start? Maybe I should start with you.”
He then suddenly reached forward to snared a hold of Drayce’s chin. But his grip was cold, harsh, and the first thing that raced through Drayce’s mind that it was nothing like the tender touch of Zohar’s hand.
So, he reacted by immediately slapping the hand away.
“Don’t touch me.”
Far from angry or even agitated, Keane actually looked sadistically delighted by his reaction. “A feisty one, hmm~”
Feisty? Probably not. Disgusted? Definitely.
“Why are you after the lotuses?” he demanded.
Keane tilted his head to the side. “Hmm? Well now, I don’t give information away for free. You need to pay the fee first.”
Yeah, he had figured as much. Bandits wouldn’t do anything without a price. “Then forget it. I’ll find out on my own.”
“Oh, so cruel,” Keane mockingly purred. “I would have told you for a kiss.”
Drayce instantly felt queasy at the prospect. The clenching of the stomach type of nausea. It was…something he had never really experienced before. It was unsettling. “I’m even more determined to do it on my own now,” he managed to bite out.
Keane laughed. Not a joyful laugh by any stretch of the imagination. It was mocking, almost spiteful. A twisted grin appeared on his lips as he rested an arm on his knee and leaned forward. “But you’re not on your own, are you?”
Drayce didn’t respond. He couldn’t. Even as Keane stood up to lean over him, planting a hand against the wall of the carriage behind him, causing Drayce subconsciously sunk into his seat in a futile attempt to put some distance between them.
“You have others to worry about,” Keane continued. “Weaknesses.”
Drayce gritted his teeth. “Get out.”
“Since you asked so nicely,” Keane smirked, knowing full well that he hit a nerve. “Before that, listen carefully;”
Keane unexpectedly lashed out and pressed his hand against Drayce’s throat. His fingers wrapped around his neck as he pushed him back harshly into the seat behind him. Drayce’s hands immediately flew up to grasp at Keane’s wrists and he clenched his jaw painfully as he peered at him through one eye. That nausea returned when Keane moved his face toward his, that obnoxious and yet still menacing smirk on his lips.
“If you don’t want others to get hurt, you’ll hand over the map.”
Drayce squeezed his eyes shut when he realised that he couldn’t breathe properly. Mercifully, Keane released his grip on his throat and Drayce began to cough harshly as he held his neck with his hands.
The carriage shifted to the side as Keane thankfully stepped out into the street.
“I’ll be seeing you later then,” he said, that arrogant smirk of his in place before he slammed the carriage door shut.
Drayce starred through the small glass window as Keane walked away, toward some back alley located near the markets. His back was straight, his posture relaxed and somehow incredibly smug. He definitely looked pleased with him.
The door located on the other side of the carriage opened and as the weight shifted to indicated that someone else had entered, Drayce snapped his head around. Half expecting to see another bandit.
Thankfully, it was Blayke. And Drayce uttered a sigh of relief as he continued to rub his neck.
As Blayke took a seat, he turned to face him. His mouth was open, no doubt ready to tell Drayce that he had gotten the Ariadne Threads. But he stilled, and his brow soon furrowed deeply. “What? What happened?” he practically demanded.
“Let’s…just head to the Crescentia,” Drayce managed to utter, though his voice was surprisingly hoarse.
Blayke was having none of his dismissiveness, however. “What happened?” he actually demanded.
Drayce sighed as he rubbed his forehead. He was already anticipating yet more fussing when he returned to the Crescentia. “Keane just paid me a visit.”
“What?!”
The volume of Blayke’s voice did little to help with Drayce’s headache.
“He didn’t do anything,” Drayce replied, though that was a bold-face lie. And Blayke probably knew it from the paleness of his face in contrast to his throat. There was likely to be a handprint there, too. “But he’s after the lotuses all right. Why, I don’t know. Let’s…just go home.”
Blayke, of course, wanted to know more. Every little detail. But Drayce found himself becoming lost to his own thoughts. Especially in regards to that not-so subtle threat of Keane’s. He wanted the map. And he expected Drayce to just hand it over. Yet, that threat…he was going to force him into giving up the map, wasn’t he?
He didn’t know why Keane was after the tokens, or the lotuses, but he couldn’t allow that lowly bandit to get his hands on such treasures. But he…also couldn’t allow Keane to hurt anyone. Especially not someone from his guild.
A material treasure wasn’t worth that of a living being. His grandfather would always say that. But that Dark Blade. Someone like Keane shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near it.
…What should he do?

The type of people who are so chill, so down for anything. Ready to grab their gears, their friends and GO. There’s constant movement and physical activities, like socializing is fun and nice and stops the depression -- but also going home is like, 
Home time is me-time y get me?
These people may seem like the type to be like fun and motivating cause they literally urge people to do stuff (’hey let’s go let’s do it’) but at the same time they’re also private??
Do you even know what their home life is like?? Do u know what their domestic sphere is Like at all??
Privacy is important to them--- as much as they like being Out There and Different, the comfort of their own home and having control over that aspect of their life (who they let in, who’s intimate, who’s family) is sacrilege
Like they’re -- a conspiracy theory, what doeth goeth on inside thy humble abodeth? 👀 They put so much energy into their public/social persona that often times--- getting to know what their ‘me’ time is like feels like you only know half a person??? 
There’s a lot that Leo/Sagittarius has to deal with on their own, emotionally. They recuperate and contemplate a lot, but at the same time-- if they don’t get out and Do something they get dragged down into boredom/insecurities or constant thoughts/ideas/whizziness (Sagittarius itchy restlessness/anxiety) that’s why they’re always like ‘im bored let’s do something lets go’ all the time (needy/whiny)
They’re the type who’d go out, follow the crowd and do something completely crazy (’take a chance!’) because they LOVE a good story to tell ugh 
They like hearing about gossip/drama and rumours, especially one about them (gasp) because they’re like---- ‘yes keep talking about me i love it’ it boosts their confidence
These Leo/Sagittarius combos are anxious about not being in trend, not being heard or fitting in sometimes. While they’re independent to a degree, they’re also creature of social inclusivity. They want to be included in stuff, in groups and hang outs. They want to be appreciated and admired, wanna be talked to and about. 
They aren’t shy about owning their confidence/worth, because there’s so much more to life that they could be stressed over?? The small stuff-- like surface level things like oh popularity or admirability or social standing-- those things are important but pshhh, it’s nothing like dealing with their deep inner thoughts/turmoils and anxiety y know?
Won’t ever let you know when they need help with those stuff though, they’re NOT the type to disclose information about themselves unless YOU bring it up 
They’ll try to advise you, work through THEIR problems by mirroring/projecting through you and figuring it out from there. But you won’t have a clue??
Like there’s something to be said about how Sagittarius does make someone a deep and intellectual thinker. There’s an emphasis on academic and respectability, they know this. Social standing is important, but so is ?? maverick and progression (context).
Think smart not hard, work efficiently not longer. Underneath that fun, care-free and spirited exterior, you ARE a smart, serious and professional person.
The thing is,  I think you know your concentration is shit. You LIKE the rebellious life-style mostly because it makes you feel accepted for who you are. Your Sagittarius won’t settle down, so you adapt and make due. 
You turn it into a life-style where you encourage and rally people around you to ‘not be so hive-minded’ and show them your critical thinking (but quickly ease back into careful nonchalance and silliness, because you don’t want them to think you’re serious all the time/more than necessary)
Because of your 1) impatience, impulsivity 2) need to for good story to tell you can sometimes be a slave to acting recklessly and carelessly-- sometimes physically putting yourself in danger or seeking out ‘thrills’. 
You’re a child at heart, and this can sometimes worry people. Because you are--- as signature of Leo, naive and innocent to an extent. No matter how much you grow up, how you’ve matured. How responsible or hard-working or whatever you have in your ‘social-front’ --- you’ll always be a slave to inner ‘thrill-seeker/wanting adventure’ because of it
You may encourage others to open up about themselves, yet you never open up about you. You believe, strongly in your opinion (research, studies, made up your mind) -- you’re critical and cynical, albeit optimistic/alternative as a person. 
The thing about you is-- you believe in frankness and openness, but is boo boo the fool--- clownery when you don’t give back the things you ask for (slip n’ slide, you know you’re charming so you make sure the other person forget about you not opening up by overwhelming them with attention/questions about themselves)  
Sometimes you can have the view of ‘uselessly validating someone create hive-mindedness without critical thinking/pushing’ is something like a pet-peeve, but realize that this is out of obliviousness to how emotionality work.
You realize that-- if someone IS upset about something, you’re not supposed to beat down on them or make light of it at the time. Yet you’re unable to keep your mouth shut, unable to support or help others because you’re not in touch with your OWN sensitivity (never let it out) so you hurt others intentionally because it’s ‘my way or no way’ 
You’re reckless, and that’s not going to work in the long-run. You know this, but reprimanding you is like reprimanding your internal child. You huff and whine and is egoistic, you don’t listen to anybody else and can sometimes think your opinion (informed, thought out, decisive) is arguable more substantial and stronger than weak-mindedness 
While you like to challenge others to prove you wrong, realize that your attitude is the problem. You can charm, you can slide, you can be as ‘good’ or morally chaotic as you want. What matters is that you learn how to not HURT people through it, because sometimes-- you really do make those close to you feel like they don’t know you or can’t help you. Because you keep them at arm’s length at all times.
(tl;dr: Sagittarius expands your ego, your emotions. It makes Leo’s needs and combined impulsivity stronger. You can sometimes take on or be too much of something, and believe yourself to be something without considering other people’s feelings/emotions.

So I was deciding on whether or not to make a post about this, but I'm really mad that people just demonize my mental illness (any mental illness actually)  for their "uwu edgy" au nonsense.
I understand that now its apparently a trend for people to make mental illness AUs in any fandoms, and I see it ALOT in eddsworld now. Its usually used for shipping and angsty shit, which is a big NO NO! I do not want my fucking schizophrenia to be used for a romance plot in a damn fanfiction or fanart! I dont want ANYONE'S mental illness used for that!
It's not fucking cool to have kids swoon and romance the shit out of it. Its not fun to see kids say "Oh!!! i hear voices in my head! I must be a psycho!!" Like yes, I hallucinate, but it doesn't make me a fucking monster. I'm not a monster.
I'm a human being with REAL feelings. I have emotions, I have goals, I have a LIFE. I am not here for you guys to use as a trope in your fanfiction because you think its "uwu". Do NOT sexualize/romanticize my struggle just because of your weird obsession with it. It's gross, and I dont think people with mental illnesses want to see their struggles being used for shit like that.
If you really want to make an AU with it, then you better sit down and research the shit outta the stuff you wanna use in your aus. Don't even THINK about using someone else's own ideas for what people have, dont use the media as an example, dONT USE HORROR MOVIES/GAMES FOR YOUR RESEARCH. LOOK FOR ACTUAL SYMPTOMS ON THE INTERNET ON HOW PEOPLE WITH THESE MENTAL ILLNESSES ACT.
Even better! If you know someone with it, maybe ask them how they deal with it, if they are comfortable with talking about it. If they aren't, then back off. But if they are comfortable, ask them so you don't fuck up. AND if someone with the mental illness you are writing about comes up to your post and tells you that you are writing it wrong, DONT FUCKING TELL THEM THAT IS HOW YOU SEE THEM ACT. You better apologize and change it.
Like I have schizophrenia, people use my schizo as a plot device for murder and being an evil monster who hallucinates. I dont murder people, I just hallucinate and cant sometimes tell if what I saw was real or not. Also sometimes people think I can't find someone who loves me because I have schizophrenia (ive been told a lot by ONE person in particular that im an unlovable monster because I have this disability). But guess what? I have a girlfriend who loves me for who I am. She doesn't care if I hallucinate, she loves me for ME.
And think about this, what if people started making up shit about mental illnesses and other people thought it was true and began to spread false information about it. And so when someone with that particular mental illness comes along and sees all these lies someone made up about them, what do you think is gonna happen?
If they try and expose the lies, they will be cast down. No one will believe them because someone's lie got too powerful and now their life is all fucked up because they are called an "attention seeker".
Look all I'm saying is just dont make AUs with this type of content unless you know what you're actually talking about! Dont romanticize it, dont sexualize it, don't "uwu" it! Just dont!

Meta descriptions are not factored into Google’s ranking algorithms, however, they have an impact on a page’s CTR which can increase the page’s ability to rank. As well as title tags, meta-descriptions also allow people and search engines to better understand the content of the page. This brief summary of a web page functions as an advertising copy and its goal is to encourage people to click.
Hint: Google and other search engines bold keywords in the meta-description when they match search queries. It can catch attention. Match your descriptions to search terms as closely as possible to maximize click-through rates on search engine result pages.
As with title tags, it’s important that meta descriptions on each of your pages are unique, and adjust to the page’s content. Adapt backlinks to content concerns as well.
Backlinks – clean them up
If many websites link to yours, the clear signal is sent to search engines:
“Hey, Google, look how many pages link to this website, it’s something valuable! Let’s put it higher.”
Backlinks from other websites have a huge influence on historical page ranks. If relevant websites link to your pages, your brand receives “special points” from Google. The result is that during the searching process your domain gets higher rankings.
– What does “relevant websites” mean?
Let’s assume that you run a sports magazine and you’ve got a lot of backlinks from websites dedicated to fashion. This is the moment when Google says:
“Something is wrong. I haven’t already trust you!”
And then it removes your website from the Google index or devalues your rankings.
When the algorithm finds that your website has a lot of backlinks from places which are unrelated to your topic, your page’s potential will be reduced. Backlinks which lead to your website from spammy or low-quality pages are called bad and hurt your domain. Links should always come from topically similar websites. For a sports magazine, a good backlink is from a website about football.
To get searches trust and, as a result, appear higher in SERPs, it’s necessary to find and remove bad backlinks linking to your website. You can do it thanks to Google Search Console. This tool is a free service that helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your site’s presence in Google Search results. After connecting it with Google Analytics, you will receive very important data about site search, phrases, keywords, positions, etc.

– Is it possible to be very high in SERPs without backlinks?
Yes, although it’s still related to links.
Building a strong structure of internal links increases a chance to be higher in search engines. The way it works is that subpages with strong content, searched by long-tail keywords are arranged in structures that go from the detailed to the general. Look at this table:

The idea is that every subpage type 1 collects value from many smaller, more detailed subpages (type 2 and 3). When subpage type 1 links to the home page, Google receives a signal that there are many interesting subpages about your topic that pass the value of the main page.
This website structure builds a trust connection between the search engine and your pages which become reliable and worthy of attention. There’s one more thing which can deepen it.
Brand awareness gets you higher
Imagine that you’re searching for some product. One of the results is a brand you know/heard about, another is a brand you don’t have any connection with. Which one would you click?
It doesn’t matter how familiar you are with the first brand – you will click it, because of some little piece of information about this brand in the back of your mind. Your role as a publisher is to make sure that people have this piece of information about your business in their minds.
When you create great content and run a readable magazine, the internet starts talking about you. Every positive opinion about your brand has a big influence on your search position.
How does it work?
The better opinions you have, the more people look for you and the higher Google puts your website. Building brand recognition thanks to social media such as Twitter or Facebook (depending on the target group) works in a similar way. People see a great, branded video on their newsfeed and then look for it in a search engine. Consequently, Google gets a strong signal that people look at this brand, so it can be something really important and valuable.
Double trust
A while ago, to stay on the market, the publishers had to build trust only in people. Today they should do it also with Google.
Optimizing title tags and meta-descriptions, taking care of backlinks’ quality and building appropriate website structure are ways to deal with the second issue. Stunning and long-term effects can be achieved when you improve both of them. There’s one magical, strong force which no algorithm update can change – having readers on your side.

Two types of information are most useful in job analysis: job descriptions and job specifications. A job description is a list of the tasks, duties, and responsibilities (TDRs) that a job entails. TDRs are observable actions. For example, a clerical job requires the jobholder to type. If you were to observe someone in that position for a day, you would certainly see some typing. When a manager attempts to evaluate job performance, it is most important to have detailed information about the work performed in the job (that is, the TDRs). This makes it possible to determine how well an individual is meeting each job requirement. (p. 171)
The authors continue:
A job specification is a list of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (KSAOs) that an individual must have to perform the job. Knowledge refers to factual or procedural information that is necessary for successfully performing a task. A skill is an individual’s level of proficiency at performing a particular task. Ability refers to a more general enduring capability that an individual possesses. Finally, other characteristics might be personality traits such as one’s achievement motivation or persistence. KSAOs are characteristics about people that are not directly observable; they are observable only when individuals are carrying out the TDRs of the job. For anyone who has internet access, this website seems like a treasure trove of information, which would help people to find their direction. Of course, a lot of the training and assessments have to be conducted by a trained professional, who would have the proper materials necessary to conduct the training! I even took the interest profiler test, which I have taken before, because of my interest in figuring out what my interests are and how I can apply them to a career and/or careers! The results displayed what is typical for me!

Responding to my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats when involving my (KSAO):
My weakest link, when it comes to being a musician, is creating an image that goes along with the music. Sonically, I’m most of the way there. Selling my product comes down to the image I present. The logic and reasoning that goes along with my story is there. The visual image is what I need to work on most. 
SMART Goals – Specify two or three SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and established with a timetable/date for completion) for gaining KSAOs that are lacking or need greater enhancement.
So far, when it comes to my social media presence: I have 70 likes on my newest Facebook Fan page; I have 620 followers on Twitter; I have 1,084 followers on Instagram; I have 16 followers on my YouTube Channel. And, I have 30 followers on my Tumblr page. 
On my Facebook fan page, my last post garnered 96 views; which is more than the number of people who like the page. For the same post, on Instagram, I garnered 9 likes. 
My top tweet on Twitter, over the last 28 days, earned 231 impressions. In March of 2021, I’ve had a total of 208 tweets. I had 7,758 tweet impressions. I had 4,183 profile visits. I had one mention. And, I earned three new followers!
The video, on my YouTube Channel, with the most views, is a short post about a new product in the sex industry: sex dolls. lol I earned 182 views on that video. I also recently released my first music video, with the help of a videographer whose channel is called Coast Vibes. On his channel, my video garnered 178 views, with a total of 6 thumbs up and 1 thumb down. On my channel, which I posted about a week or two ago, I’ve garnered 10 views, and no thumbs up, and no thumbs down!
When it comes to, at least, measurable, achievable, relevant goals, I feel like I am getting closer to reaching some goals I’ve had. People are starting to understand my branding and geopolitical positioning. This is bringing about more awareness. 
I have struggled with building interest, though, because of how complex my products and services are, and because of the area I am operating out of at the moment. Muncie, Indiana isn’t exactly a hot bed for rap and hip hop artists. Muncie, Indiana is a college town. And, that is where I am hoping to unearth a lot of my fan base from, in order to help me grow. 
I would also like to create music in other genres, such as: country, pop, grime, drill, slightly political music, and maybe a little bit of rhythm and blues. I get the sense that the city I am operating out of would prefer my country and pop music! 
Ultimately, with the skills and knowledge base, skills, and abilities I have, I am hoping that I’ll be able to appeal to audiences across the geopolitical landscape; especially in the United States. I am attempting to reach people, mainly, based on behavioral and psychographic segmentation. However, I do realize I also have to consider demographic segmentation and geographical segmentation somewhat! 
And, I also realize that people, across the world, have different tastes and preferences when it comes to auditory and other sensory information. Some of my music will relate to other parts of the world, and the rest of it will hopefully appeal to people in different parts of the United States. 
The difficulty in doing this comes down to consumer behavior issues and/or problems; especially when people are attempting to discern what the “in” groups and “out” groups are doing. When you are attempting to bring people together, you have to recognize that not all of the people in these groups are going to accept what you have to offer. They surely wouldn’t consider you to be a purest in their eyes; especially when I’m attempting to shape thinking and feelings when involving issues like sexuality, gender identities, race relations, political party affiliation, issues and/or problems involving criminology, etc. Cases like the one provided in “ Prejudice, Stereotypes, and Labeling Effects: Sources of Bias in Person Perception”, show that there is a correlation between labeling a person and people displaying bias! (Jussim, L., Manis, M., Nelson, T. E., & Soffin, S., 1995)
My geopolitical positioning and branding is set up for me to attempt to be a diplomat and mediator across the world. As such, I’m more interesting in moderating different crowds, so as to attempt to be a solution for societal problems across the world! So, groups will likely have a favorite artist, who I am attempting to include in my vision for the world! My products are so complicated that it definitely helps to involve myself in arts, sciences, and  You know, as Novartis said, “Every disease is a musical problem; every cure is a musical solution.”

Murina- Phonetically related to “muirneach” Gaelic for beloved and one letter removed from murinae the scientific family name for rodents. It is from her middle name that her father’s nickname for his most beloved “little mouse” was born.

How long have they been in Foxcroft:
The day Ivy rolled into Foxcroft, the day Adam Foxcroft was murdered, seemed like any other. The only difference was that she was exhausted and the siren’s song of a blinking motel sign was irresistible after spending so many nights sleeping in her van. She had no way of knowing how what was supposed to be a one night pitstop would change her life…change her. The police only asked her to stick around for a few days but the swamps insisted on her continued attention so she’s been devoting her time to studying them ever since. She’s been staying in the local motel for the past few months but lately, as her work seems unlikely to finish any time soon, she’s been looking at properties by the swamp.
Sexuality: Pansexual - Ivy has traded kisses all over the globe. Like most of her actions it’s curiosity and affinity that fuels her affections she wants to understand people…to explore them. It doesn’t always work out but some of her explorations left her with a store of tenderness and understanding between souls. But then there were the goodbyes…always the goodbyes and after the first few heartbreaks Ivy learned not to tie her heart so strongly to places and people she was bound to leave eventually.

Ivy is a seeker. She’s spent all of her life in search of something whether it was just the right sample or book to pull the pieces of whatever puzzle was occupying her attention or a new adventure. She devours knowledge like it’s the only thing that can sustain her and with a life spent more devoted to her work than anything else it’s often true. She made friends during her journeys and at school and some people found her enthusiasm for the natural world and all the secrets and connections left to be discovered charming but as many found her odd and rarely staying still has left her with few connections of her own. Although each discovery fills her with a sense of accomplished joy she’s never quite satisfied. She feels as though there’s still something more just out of her reach. She’s a girl who has lived all over the world but never in one place long enough to truly call it home. The country house of her youth comes close, how could it not when it was full of so many things she loved?, but it still felt more like a hideaway than a place where she truly belonged.
When she left, loading up her second-hand van with tools, plants, and her pair of rats- Daisy and Puck, she thought her mission was the same as her parents’ had been. To explore, to learn, to report. It was the life she was raised for and when she found out about the swamps in Foxcroft she thought she’d found an interesting stop on her journey. That was six months ago and instead of being close to wrapping up Ivy only feels like there is more for her to learn. She lived and breathed the swamps and filled notebooks full of sketches and figures but her curiosity has only grown fed by rumors, legends, and an odd prevailing sense of strength and belonging that clings to her like mud on her skin.

How did this character react to the death of Hazel Abrams? Adam Foxcroft? (1+ paragraphs)
Ivy arrived in Foxcroft too late to know Hazel and her life overlapped Adam’s in the town by only hours but the more time she spends in town the more she can see the spaces they’ve left behind like the ripples of an extinction on an ecosystem. There’s a boy that leaves whispered trails of murderer in his wake who looks like he’s had the color bled out of his vision. Two girls who circle each other as though the thread between them is frayed from twining two snapped connections into one. A beautiful woman who holds herself as though the merest misstep might send her sprawling. Ivy is too fresh to the town to have felt the loss but she still hears the rumors. Rumors that name the dead as an angel and a prince-both roles ripe for sacrifice. Rumors that cast the blame as much on her beloved swamps as on any human culprit. As always Ivy wonders why? What happened that made the town so frightened and disgusted of the beautiful wetlands that cradle their home? What is it about the water that so repulses them while it sings to her?
How do they see the town and its people? Think about the different groups of people and prejudices the town holds about them.
Ivy is still relatively new in town and she’s seen the swamps and the inside of her motel room more than anything else. Still on the occasions she does pull herself away from her work long enough to venture into the town proper she can’t help but…notice things. Ivy has lived in all sorts of places all over the world- there were plenty of isolated places but stints in villages, small towns, and big cities were not uncommon. Still as many places as she’s seen she’s never been anywhere quite like Foxcroft. Most small town folks can hardly wait to invite you to church or bring you a welcome casserole. Not so in Foxcroft, well with the marked exception of the bakery owner who did both although the invitation to church seemed almost hesitant and the “casserole” was a beet and kale quiche, where people seemed to move in set circles and most judged her outsider without ever saying a word. It was a strange town that eschewed religion but held tight enough to their superstitions to move their children across the street to avoid the town witch and looked at Ivy as though she’d spat out a heinous curse every time she said ‘swamps.’
For non-human characters: What does this character know about what they’ve become? Have they had any experiences that made them aware that weren’t exactly human? Elaborate.
Ivy hasn’t really acknowledged the way she’s felt since the day she woke up in Foxcroft. It’s easy to write off her connection to the place as fascination with the swamps after all there’s still so much more of them she needs to see and document before she can leave, right? She tells herself the burst of strength and belonging she feels there is only because a research site is her natural element not because there’s anything supernatural about the swamps no matter what the townspeople might say. Still… some of her readings are curiously unexpected and it seems like the more time she spends in the swamps the stronger the feelings… and the plants grow. It’s just spring. But it had started before spring and even the few plants that had been doing poorly after being transplanting into the inside of a van suddenly seemed to burst back to life.
Ivy has responded as expected. She stays up late comparing notes and double checking readings. She spends full days in the swamp measuring changes and searching for potential outliers and causes. She squints through the smile that automatically blooms on her face at the sight of her recovering plants. But whatever she does she keeps circling back to one thing…
It’s something about the water.

Need to know- Ivy has so many questions, more than even she is aware of, and she won’t rest until they’re answered. Sooner or later she’s bound to come across something in the swamps that strongly supports the town’s general opinion that there is something off, Ivy would prefer the word exceptional, about them. I want to work with her urge to discover and how it affects things when she turns her curiosity towards the town legends or finally decides to investigate the changes in herself and the sense of belonging she feels in Foxcroft.
Like spreading vines- It’s becoming more and more apparent that Ivy isn’t going to leave the town any time soon. Between the actual work she has left with her research and resulting discoveries and the excuses she is more than willing to make to stay it’s starting to almost feel like the town is…home for her. She feels close to Dominic from their time spent tracking through the swamps together and she finds Shae interesting, even if she looks at Ivy with eyes that ask “What are you doing here?” as much…or even moreso than anyone else does, but if she’s going to put down roots and grow she needs to find a way to be less isolated and make connections. On that note I’d love to see her get close to a Foxcroft when she starts looking into the history of the town after all their family founded the town so if anyone has access to information that might assuage some of her curiosity it’s bound to be them.n

How would you feel about this character dying?: Okay so I’d be a little heartbroken if Ivy died but lbr she’s about to go stomping day and night through a swamp that has played murder scene twice already and start digging at secrets in a town full of darkness so… if the plot led to her death I’d totally understand. As always all I’d want is some warning, a little creative input on her death, and a chance to stick around with another character.

My precious plant-babe with her boundless wonder and unrealized desire to put down roots somewhere. The Missing Black and Brown Girls Situation is More than a DC Thing . . . And the recent CIA hacking situation . . .
       Excuses, Excuses, These recent happenings have been going on for decades, a lot of the photos shares on the internet of some of the girl, have actually been missing for years, This isn’t a new phenomenon there are many articles and information about this missing situation all over the net, and have been for years., and ain’t no way all of these missing cases are runaways, Idc how what anyone thinks of me after saying this but I truly believe the US Government and the police are behind and involved in a lot of these kidnappings that are happening at an ample amount on these black & brown girls and just in general, so much evidence to prove so if you look into it plus, a lot of this information is hidden in plain sight . this human/sex trafficking and organ harvesting has been happening for decades but these recent cases and the fact that many black and brown girls have been coming up missing in the matter of 24 hours in the last couple of weeks is puzzling and alarming. and sadly, it doesn’t surprise me that the media isn’t actively covering these cases and creating a state of emergency AND the police aren’t doing there job says a lot. But what’s new from the group that works with a system the was build to stagnate black folks and was created to carry an agenda to continue the genocide and destruction on black lives. 
     THEN, they proceed to say ALL OF THESE GIRLS THAT ARE MISSING ARE RUNAWAYS … BULLSHIT… .SO ALL OF THEM …JUST DECIDED TO RUN AWAY. Just an excuse to not look for them, something I figured they would do in the first place. And even if there are runaways that doesn’t mean they are excluded from being kidnapped, they are usually the targeted and prime suspects for the seekers. All over social media people are posting ads, emails and reporting they’re getting weird calls about job interviews they never applied for, basically creating new methods to lurk in and abduct these girls. (Some of the info online is exaggerated, false, misleading, and rearranged, I choose to ignore all that cause there isn’t any proof or evidence, but for what is, I choose to share). Thankfully, a lot of us aren’t that idiotic to be blinded by the facade of their false allegiance of safety and justice. this shit had been happening for DECADES without any attention. these people never cared for us and never will. hopefully people will understand this now, and realize we have to do the work, and share these stories and take precautionary measures to protect our black and brown girls. teach them how to protect/defend themselves, to be extra aware of their surrounding, teach them ways to defend themselves, and watch out for them.

I want to expand more on this but ill just give a piece and leave references and encourage you guys to do your own research. Its too much to cover, too much information, ill share some of it briefly though.
 Speaking on happenings in the news, all of these recent happening are connected to one agenda that’s being carried out now; the robbery of the 4th amendment(that I felt we never truly had, but due to the terrorist attacks, it makes it justifiable for them), and ISIS’s involvement, and how america is trying to find ways to handle ISIS through this ordeal, the matter of the fact is that, America cannot defeat ISIS because america IS ISIS. This group is funded & trained by Amerikkka & Israel. this group, like Al Qaeda , was created to instill fear and cover up the US Government’s planned attacks. Why? to create ways to take away our rights, for control And for other reasons. they plant fear tactics so they can go in and do what they’ve planned to, we’ll see that as ok because these scare tactics that are planned out force us and makes us feel taking away rights is necessary to do.
    for example, Now, the CIA are trying to find ways to further surveillance and spy and monitor every step we take, every word we speak and interrupt/invade our privacy more than what they are doing now, not just in the US but also abroad. But they know what they’re doing, they put out the information they say, “oh, its nothing to worry about”(documents have to be released after a certain amount of time), and of course it’ll be downplayed, we believe whatever the media tells us instead of doing our own research, so if they say its nothing to worry about, we’ll go back to our regular scheduled program(ming) but it is a big deal because what’s the reason for all of this? Its not like its specific people, it’s everyone’s cell device, TV, laptop, and smart TV. They claim its not a big issue but yes, when out right a are slowly being taken away, for example, “Your Fourth Amendment Right to Privacy. The fourth amendment to the constitution guarantees the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, and is often argued as protecting our right to privacy.” So it is, and just because it’s something they do, doesn’t make it right, and we shouldn’t normalize their bullshit because it enables more bullshit. But don’t just take this from me, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. To be honest, I never though we’ve ever had real rights in this country, black people specifically and especially… that’s why I’m not surprised, yet, it’s still not right. And I do think it should be a concern to us all. Again, The same corporations that control the government, control the media. If the government can lie and do all these things to us, don’t you think the media will too? They have been trying to downplay and play left with this information.  Invested to manipulate us, keep Us stupid, in fear, and blind. This is just a tip of the iceberg, like everything else I’ve written and spoke about, And what’s been out so far.

But when you scan the company’s careers page, panic starts pouring over you. The job you wanted to apply for is no longer open. It’s gone. And as you stare at your laptop screen in shock, you can’t help but think you’ll never be able to join your dream company.
What should you do in this situation? You can’t just put your job search on pause until the company opens the position again. How do you express interest in joining a company when the position you want isn't currently available?
One of the most effective ways to grab a hiring manager’s attention and get your foot in the door is by writing a letter of interest to the company.
What Is a Letter of Interest?
A letter of interest lets a company know that you want to work for them in a role that they’re currently not hiring for. In hopes that the company will contact you when they do open this position or another relevant position, your letter of interest focuses on how your skill set and culture fit can benefit the company, not how the company can benefit you. You can send a letter of interest at any time, regardless if the company is actively hiring.
Sending a letter of interest is a great way to introduce yourself to a company, and it shows them you're willing to take the initiative to proactively reach out. This can keeps you top of mind when the company starts recruiting for the job you inquired about or if they have any upcoming job opportunities that could be a good fit. If you’re really impressive, some companies might even create a position just for you.
Other times, sending a letter of interest can lead to a coffee chat or an informational interview with the hiring manager of the team you want to work for.
Writing a letter of interest sounds like an easy way to get your foot in the door at any company, but it’ll only pique a hiring manager’s interest and elicit a response if it actually resonates with her.
To do so, we recommend following a formula called problem-agitate-solve. It’s modeled after an old copywriting framework and has helped one job seeker skyrocket her cover letter response rate from 0% to 55%. We’ll flesh it out below.
How to Write a Letter of Interest
To compel a hiring manager to read your letter, respond to it, and consider you for a job, there are four crucial elements you need to include in your letter of interest:
1. Hook the hiring manager with proof that you understand her problem.
Hiring managers don’t hire people just to be nice. They hire people to help them run their team better. To immediately grab a hiring manager’s attention, you should show how you understand the problems she’s trying to solve, like the hook below:
“As a two-year blogging veteran in the marketing technology industry at companies like Return Path and SlideBatch, I know how hard it is to write well. I also know how challenging it is to get found on Google.”
By describing a similar experience you’ve had at your current or prior job, you can relate to her on a deep level, which will engage and prompt her to read the rest of the letter.
The hardest part of this step is discovering the hiring manager’s problems. One way to figure it out is by listing off the job’s responsibilities and asking yourself why these tasks are important to her team. If you keep analyzing until you reach a dead end, you’ll usually find her needs there.
2. Agitate the problem to remind the hiring manager she needs a solution.
How do you make a hiring manager realize how valuable a solution could be? You remind her just how painful her problems are. And to make her visualize her dreaded problem as vividly as possible, you need to be specific, just like the example below:
“According to HubSpot’s careers page, you’re not currently hiring, but, in the future, if you’re looking for someone who can not only engage an audience with clear, concise, and compelling blog posts, but also optimize them for search engines, while hitting every deadline, you can count on me.”
When she realizes how much pain she’s actually in, she’ll have more of a sense of urgency to resolve it. And this’ll push her to respond to you because you might be her fastest route to a solution.
3. Prove that you’re the solution with an example of your skills and experience.
If you’re really the solution to her problems, you must prove to the hiring manager how you’ve used your skills to solve similar paint points in previous experiences. Then, you should describe how you’ll be able to use those learnings to help solve her current problems. Check out the example below:
“Last year, at Return Path, I was the top performing blogger, writing weekly posts that averaged 7,500 views, 1,000 social shares, and 35 new blog subscribers gained. The year before, at SlideBatch, I devised and implemented a new keyword strategy that increased organic page views for our Visual Marketing 101 blog series by 15%.
I’ve read HubSpot’s blog every day since I started my content marketing career, and I’m inbound, content, and email marketing certified, so I strongly believe I’ll be able to hit the ground running if I were to work on HubSpot’s blog team one day.
Whether I’d be uncovering high opportunity keywords or crafting blog posts to support and develop your team’s new pillar cluster model, I’m confident my skills and experience can help your team crush their goals.”
By quantifying your accomplishments and researching the company’s pain points, you’re proving your worth. But if you just list your skills and work experience, you’re only proving to the hiring manager that you’ve failed to make an impact.
4. Confidently request to move on to the next step.
At the end of your letter, you should express your interest in exploring upcoming opportunities or ask her to keep you top of mind when an opportunity opens up, like the call to action below:
“I’d love to learn about any upcoming roles on your team or be considered for a position later down the road. My resume is attached, and my contact details are listed in my email signature below. Thank you for your time! It was a pleasure connecting.”
These call-to-actions are crucial because they tell her how to get the ball rolling. If you don’t tell the hiring manager what to do next, then nothing will happen.

Steps to Take Before You Send Your Letter of Interest
After you finish writing your letter of interest, you need to make sure the company will actually open it. So before you send your letter, it’d be ideal if someone on the team personally knows who you are.
To do so, ask your connections or alumni that work at the company to introduce you to the team’s hiring manager. If you can’t do that, you could add the hiring manager on LinkedIn, tell her why you want to connect, and send her your letter of interest.
Getting your foot in the door will ultimately help you stand out from the crowd of job seekers who are all sending the same “hire me” pitch to her.
