Since May 2016 I’ve kinda been a little bit absent, I kinda disappeared. I got really, really sick. I developed anorexia nervosa when I was 16 years old. I nearly died, my organs were shutting down. In the last 2 years, I’ve needed to be admitted to the hospital 4 times, totaling about 5 months. I spent more than half my final 2 years of high school too unwell to attend. I was really alone, I was too embarrassed to tell anyone what was wrong with me and why I was so sick, even my best friends. The only people who knew I what was wrong was my immediate family. I was really alone. I spent most of my time while I was really sick, painting, colouring, (crying lol), and listening to Taylor’s music. I started uni this year, and I’m studying a bachelor of nursing, so very soon (well in 2 and a bit more years) I’m going to be an RN!!! Unfortunately, the start of uni was tough for me and within weeks I was back in hospital for the fourth time :( But since I was discharged in April of this year, I've really progressed in my recovery. It's been tough and they've been lots of setbacks and near hospitalisations but I pulled through and for the first time since I was 15, I'm almost at a healthy weight! And I'm actually really happy and proud of myself.

The first picture was me the week after I was admitted to hospital in 2016, I was so scared and so sick. The second picture is me last month, I'd just finished my first clinical placement and I was/am so happy! Sure I still have bad days but slowly but surely the good days are starting to outnumber the bad!!

In about 2 weeks I'm traveling from my hometown a few hours north of Sydney to Melbourne to see the Reputation Tour!! I'm traveling for the first time without my parents and I'm so nervous but also so excited, to see Taylor and meet so many of my friends!! Then the next week I'm going to the Rep tour in Sydney!!!! 3 months ago I didn't think I would be well enough to go to the tour!! let alone travel on my own!! I'm so excited!!!!

I’ll be with my cousin Mel and her daughter Abigail - this is our 2nd time seeing you together, last time was the 1989 tour, and Abigail’s first concert ever!!

here is a photo of my best friend Kira and I. we grew up together and were four when we first heard ‘tear drops on my guitar’. my mother says that we would dance to it for hours (obviously not truly understanding what it meant).

in 2008, Kira was diagnosed with cancer, a rare and aggressive form which claimed her life only a short year later. half way through her treatment, ‘Love Story’ was released. it was our favourittttee. there are videos of us in the hospital wards, singing our little hearts out it made her so happy. it’s almost been 10 years without her. we never got the chance to attend your concerts together, but since the Speak Now Tour, I’ve been taking her picture to your shows.

today I saw that ‘Ronan’ was added onto Spotify in Australia. for years I have been listening to it on Sound Cloud. every time it plays, tears come to my eyes. it’s lyrics are so beautiful and poignant, reminding me so much of Kira, and how even when she passed, I played with her toys, pretending that she was still there.

today I’m feeling especially grateful for Taylor and her lyrics, which resonate so deeply within me.

i can’t wait to see you in Sydney Taylor. i know that Kira will be with me, singing ‘Love Story’ from her home in heaven.
