Everything Has Changed

Taylor told Digital Spy: "It's about falling in love. It's about meeting someone and all of a sudden your entire perspective on the world changes - you're thinking for two, instead of one." It was written the week starting 20 May 2012, after Harry arrived in LA.

Music Video

The scene where the class is watching a move these are scenes of Paris, a hint toward Begin Again and Paris being special to Harry and Taylor. Eiffel Tower, Pont Alexandre III - Bridge over the Seine appear.

The school play scene is reminiscent of Harry's actual first performance in a school play when he was 6, Harry also recreated part of this in the Daylight Music Video.

It's full of adorable moments where the two kids, (who return for the Joker and the Queen) where the boy and girl are apart from other kids in their own private world. The tent scene is later in Willow:

The little boy reads the Notebook, Harry's favourite movie to the girl. The girl is doing embroidery (!! very loml coded! LK does too)

The girl tattoos the boy, as is in IKYWT and reality Taylor was there when Harry got the ship tattoo.

The kids communicate by text, rather like two pop stars who live in different countries would and do, such as this famous VMA exchange, and the letter exchange in the Delicate video.

The Taylors Version Lyric Video also uses Pink & Blue text and butterflies.

Taylor performed it with Ed on the Red Tour. It wasn't played on the 1989 or Reputation tours. It was a surprise song, with TIWWCHNT, on 22 July 2023, the date of Harry's final Love on Tour show.

The draft lyrics refer to a Gemini, which Taylor has not dated. Maybe someone in Ed's life, a veiled reference to a twin (which Taylor uses again in TTPD) or Harry does have Gemini in his chart.

Secret message

The secret message is "Hyiannis Port" rather than "Hyannis Port". The additional 'I' may be a typo - but knowing Taylor's attention to detail I think it is "H-and-I" Harry signs short messages 'H' and 'y' Spanish 'and'.

This secret message is often thought to indicate Conor Kennedy, However Taylor met Connor 4 July 2012, 2 months after the song was recorded. Taylor owned the house in Hyannis Port house from August 2012 - March 2013, she was dating Harry for almost all of that time. As in Alex and Sierra's I Love You and August they spent time there.

Here though, she is taking down the walls and letting the muse in.

Doors are a Haylor Theme

Butterflies - while butterflies were key in the artwork for Lover and appear in spotify canvases for it, Taylor only refers to them twice - in this song and Clean. "When the butterflies turned to dust that covered my whole room" Harry referenced in Olivia "The summertime and butterflies / All belong to your creation / I love you, it's all I do". He also has a large butterfly tattoo on his chest.

Flight is also a Haylor theme

Pouring rain is later referred to in many key songs about Harry and Taylors relationship. It is the key metaphor in Clean, which is an ending in the relationship, Everything Has Changed being the beginning. In Clean:

This reference in Clean as rain washing their love away is again referred to in My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys: "The voices in his head called the rain to end our days of wild"

The imagery of rain pouring down, washing away but also as a metaphor for depression has been a theme in Harry and Taylors songs. Most remarkably in the music videos for Falling/Cardigan. Rain is also in How You Get The Girl: "Stand there like a ghost, shaking from the rain"

When Tina Turner, who has died aged 83, walked out on her abusive husband Ike in Dallas, Texas, she feared it would spell the end of her showbusiness career. It was 1976, and she had been performing with Ike for two decades, since she had first jumped onstage and sang with his band at the Manhattan club in East St Louis, Missouri. Yet, although she was desperate and had only 36 cents in her pocket, she was on her way to a renaissance as one of the most successful performers in popular music during the 1980s and 90s.

She had to endure several lean years, but a turning point came in 1983, when David Bowie told Capitol Records that she was his favourite singer. A version of Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together followed. Produced by the electro-poppers Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh from Heaven 17, the track went to No 6 in the UK, then cracked the US Top 30 the following year.

Turner cemented the upturn in her fortunes with the album Private Dancer (1984). Driven by the huge hit What’s Love Got to Do With It? (her first American No 1), the album became a phenomenon, lodging itself in the American Top 10 for nine months and going on to sell more than 10m copies. Suddenly Turner was one of the biggest acts in an era of stadium superstars such as Michael Jackson, Dire Straits and Phil Collins.

In 1985 she was recruited to play Aunt Entity in the film Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, for which she recorded another international chartbuster, We Don’t Need Another Hero. A second Thunderdome single, One of the Living, won her a Grammy award, and she was an automatic choice to join the Live Aid benefit concert in that year, as well as to participate in its American theme song, We Are the World.

Her follow-up album, Break Every Rule (1986), launched Turner on a global touring campaign, during which a crowd of 184,000 watched her in Rio de Janeiro. The tour spun off a double album, Tina Live in Europe (1988).

The album Foreign Affair (1989) sold 6m copies and generated another trademark anthem, The Best, which was subsequently used to add oomph to numerous TV commercials and adopted both by the tennis ace Martina Navratilova and the racing driver Ayrton Senna. The subsequent Foreign Affair tour ended in Rotterdam in 1990, after which she duetted with Rod Stewart on the old Tammi Terrell/Marvin Gaye hit It Takes Two. Designed as the theme for a Pepsi advert, the track was a chart hit across Europe.

Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, to Zelma Currie, a factory worker, and her husband, Floyd Bullock, a Baptist deacon. Abandoned by their father and temporarily by their mother, in 1956 Annie and her elder sister, Alline, moved to St Louis, Missouri, where they encountered Ike Turner and his band the Rhythm Kings. After Annie had talked the initially reluctant Ike into letting her sing with the band, he recruited her as one of his backing singers.

It was in 1960 that Tina – who had by then changed her name because it reminded Ike of the cartoon character Sheena, Queen of the Jungle – first sang a lead vocal with Ike’s band. A session singer failed to turn up, and Tina’s stand-in performance of A Fool in Love was a hit on both the pop and R&B charts. Ike immediately rebuilt his act around Tina, and christened it the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. They married in 1962.

Featuring nine musicians and a trio of skimpily dressed backing singers, the Ikettes, the Revue took the R&B circuit by storm. Tina rapidly developed into a mesmerising performer, radiating raw sexuality and bludgeoning audiences with the unvarnished force of her voice. They began to pepper the charts with hits, including I Idolise You, Poor Fool and Tra La La La La, and even if they only intermittently crossed over from the R&B charts to the pop mainstream, the band’s performing reputation was second to none. Evidence of their stage prowess was preserved on the 1965 album Live! The Ike and Tina Turner Show, recorded on tour in Texas.

However, the seeds of the couple’s destruction were being sown in their successful but intense lifestyle. Ike was a habitual womaniser, and also developed a destructive cocaine habit. This provoked violent outbursts against Tina, who, as she later revealed in her 1986 autobiography, I, Tina, was beaten, burned with cigarettes and scalded with hot coffee. She gained a glimpse of what life beyond Ike’s intimidating orbit might be like when she worked with the “Wall of Sound” producer Phil Spector in 1966. To Ike’s frustration, Spector refused to allow him in the studio while he worked on the single River Deep, Mountain High, which subsequently became regarded as a high point of both Spector’s and Turner’s careers.

The Turners’ work won them the admiration of many of their peers, not least the Rolling Stones, who invited them to open a UK tour for them in 1966, then to join them on their American tour in 1969. Mick Jagger was regularly spotted at the side of the stage during Tina’s performances, fascinated by her stage presence and dance routines. One of the high points of Live Aid in 1985 was Tina and Jagger performing together at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.

Working with the Stones prompted the Turners to import a rock-orientated edge into their work, a ploy that worked most successfully when they recorded John Fogerty’s Proud Mary in 1971. It was their first million-selling single and a Top five hit on the American pop charts. In 1973 they notched up another landmark with Tina’s feisty composition Nutbush City Limits, inspired by her Tennessee origins. She took the role of the Acid Queen in Ken Russell’s film of The Who’s rock opera, Tommy (1975): her performance was one of its few critically acclaimed moments, though her spin-off solo album, The Acid Queen, made little impression on the charts.

After her split from Ike, Tina stayed with friends and was forced to survive on food stamps. When their divorce was finalised in 1978, she preferred to take no money or property from the settlement, to establish a complete break from her husband. She earned cash from TV guest appearances on the Donny & Marie and the Sonny & Cher shows, but her late-70s albums Rough and Love Explosion sold poorly.

In 1980 she signed a management deal with Roger Davies, an Australian promoter working in the US, who secured some lucrative engagements in Las Vegas. The following year the Rolling Stones galloped to the rescue once again by booking her as the opening act on their Tattoo You tour of the US, and she also appeared with Stewart in a California concert broadcast internationally by satellite.

By the time she was inducted (with Ike, though he was then in jail) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991, Turner had little left to prove. She was able to spend more time at the homes in Switzerland and the Cote d’Azur that she now shared with the German record executive Erwin Bach. A singles collection, Simply the Best (1991), reeled in more platinum discs as Turner entered the senior stateswoman phase of her career.

In 1993, as she launched her first US tour in six years, her film biography, What’s Love Got to Do With It, based on I, Tina, was released, starring Angela Bassett as Turner. The film brought forth a bestselling soundtrack album and another hit single with its opening track, I Don’t Wanna Fight.

A three-disc anthology, The Collected Recordings – Sixties to Nineties, appeared in 1994, and the following year came Turner’s recording of GoldenEye, the theme tune of the eponymous James Bond movie. The tour that accompanied her eighth studio album, Wildest Dreams (1996), became another record-breaker, grossing more than $100m in Europe alone. Twenty Four Seven (1999) teed up what Turner announced would be her last major arena and stadium tour. She had intended to tour with Elton John, but the idea was scrapped after she argued with him about the piano arrangement for Proud Mary during rehearsals for a TV special, Divas Live ’99. Her subsequent solo dates became the top-grossing tour of 2000.

A quiet period ensued, during which Turner confined herself to hand-picked events, such as a 2005 performance on the Oprah Winfrey Show. She contributed a version of Edith and the Kingpin to River: The Joni Letters (2007), a tribute album produced by Herbie Hancock. She performed alongside Beyoncé at the Grammy awards in 2008.

That October she went back on the road with the Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour, synchronised with the compilation album Tina: The Platinum Collection. In 2010 she became the first female artist to score top 40 hits in the UK in six consecutive decades (1960s-2010s) when The Best bounced back into the UK Top 10. Her Love Songs compilation appeared in 2014, and her remix of What’s Love Got to Do With It with the Norwegian DJ Kygo in 2020 made for a seventh decade containing UK hits.

Between 2009 and 2014 Turner appeared on four albums by Beyond, an all-woman group formed with her neighbours in Küsnacht, near Zürich. The music reflected the spiritual and religious beliefs of the participants, with Turner considering herself a Baptist-Buddhist (she was raised as a Baptist, but began practising Nichiren Buddhism in 1973).

In 2013 she married Bach and gave up her American citizenship to become a Swiss citizen. Three weeks after the marriage she suffered a stroke, and in 2016 she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer, then suffered kidney failure when “the toxins in my body had started taking over”, as she put it in her second autobiography, Tina Turner: My Love Story (2018). Her husband volunteered to give her one of his kidneys and a transplant operation was carried out successfully in 2017.

The following year, the biographical stage musical Tina opened at Aldwych theatre in London, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and starring Adrienne Warren in the title role. Turner received a Grammy lifetime achievement award, to go with her existing tally of eight Grammy awards and three Grammy Hall of Fame awards. Among her vast collection of honours, Turner also had five American Music awards, two World Music awards and three MTV Video Music awards.

In 2021 she joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an outright solo performer and sold the rights to her music catalogue to the publishing company BMG for an estimated $50m. Ready to retire fully, she bade farewell to her fans with the two-part HBO documentary Tina.

Alline died in 2010. Tina’s eldest son, Craig, from a relationship with the saxophonist Raymond Hill, took his own life in 2018. Ronnie, her son with Ike, died in 2022.

She is survived by Erwin and two sons, Ike Jr and Michael, from Ike’s first marriage.

Fell into a Shinee rabbit hole and i can’t get out

Even when i didn’t know them much i really felt bad with Onew being sick and when i saw their concerts while scrolling TikTok i legit yell cause he looks so so healthy, and im so happy he was allowed to take time and get better. Im so happy he is back.

Also looking at shinee now whilr knowing what theyy went trough Danm they are strong. And im happy they are still enjoying what the my do in spite of everything.

I can't stress enough how incredibly popular and respected they are in Asia, especially Korea and Japan. I was lucky enough to attend SHINee World VI in Tokyo in November 2023, and went back for Taemin's Metamorph in March 2024. I went to SK both times too. Without trying, I saw more to do with SHINee and SM artists while out and about than uh, that other group that shall not be named. Key, especially, is a top talent in Korea. He's partnered with such huge sponsors his face is all over the place. There are giant laundry billboards of him right now. In Tokyo, he had an entire pop-up store for his face products. Even in Incheon, they had his special Valentine's Day Longtake perfume sets. SHINee is loved, lol. And their fandom is worldwide. I don't think people realize they were touring the US way before others and were name-checked by Obama, lol. They did SHINee World in Dallas, of all places.

In terms of public reputation in Korea, my understanding is they are still viewed as the Princes of Kpop, even in their 30s. And Taemin is the "national maknae"; even on the news they refer to him as Taeminie. 💀 And because of what they went through, and how they handled it and have honoured Jjong's memory, plus the fact that they're one of the few kpop groups whose skills are world class (they can actually sing live and sound like their records), they are treated so well, as you can see on Jayseok's show in that clip.

In 2018, they did an hour long, very difficult interview but it was an honest one with a lot of self-reflection. And they had a beautiful comeback with The Story of Light, that incorporated songs and choreographies that explored their grief instead of hiding or running from it. And Onew taking time off when sick to prioritise himself shows this. He set such a good example for all of us.

Basically, what I'm saying is that they're people who take the hard road and don't stop. I think it's admirable.

Storia Di Musica #272 - Thin Lizzy, Black Rose: A Rock Legend, 1979

Phil Lynott non è alla vista il classico irlandese: carnagione scura, capelli afro, figlio di Philomena, irlandese, e Cecil, guyanese di passaporto brasiliano che all’età di tre anni si trasferisce a Dublino. Avrebbe una voce perfetta per il soul, ma si innamora al nascente hard rock tanto che a 17 anni fonda la prima band, siamo nel 1968, insieme all’amico batterista Brian Downey, a nome Orphanage. Quando si unisce un signor musicista, Eric Bell, che faceva parte dei Them di Van Morrison, il trio sceglie come nome un ricordo d’infanzia: la scelta cade infatti sul nome di uno dei protagonisti dei fumetti The Dandy, uno dei più antichi almanacchi di fumetti del mondo, che si chiamava Tin Lizzie, cambiandolo in Thin Lizzy, con quella “h” a sottolineare l’accento irlandese che pronuncia tin come thin. Il trio comincia a farsi notare e va a suonare anche a Londra. Nel 1971 pubblicano per la Decca il primo album, Thin Lizzy,  e nel 1972 pubblicano il primo singolo di successo, un traditional irlandese, Whisky In The Jar, che diventerà poi una delle canzone dell’heavy metal nascente (si ricordano le numerose versioni dei Metallica per esempio). Bell se ne va, e viene sostituito prima da Gary Moore, poi dal duo di chitarristi Scott Gorham e Brian Robertson, e con la formazione a 4 pubblicano il primo grande disco: Nightlife del 1974, che ha due singoli di successo in Philomena (dedicata alla madre di Lynott) e Still In Love With You. Iniziano i tour di spalla ai grande gruppi del rock, e lo stile inizia a delinearsi: un hard rock venato di blues ma che sa pescare anche nel folk e nella musica tradizionale dell’isola verde. Dopo Fighting del 1975, è Jailbreak del 1976 che li fa conoscere in tutto il mondo: contiene infatti uno degli inni rock degli anni ‘70, The Boys Are Back in Town, che ancora oggi passa frequentemente nelle radio. Pressati dai fan e dalla casa discografica di sfruttare il successo, pubblicano nello stesso anno di Jailbreak addirittura un altro disco, Johnny The Fox, che ha un’altra canzone mito, Don’t Believe A Word, ma il clima cambia pesantemente: problemi di alcol e droga, Robertson che dopo il disco non parte in tour, e viene sostituito da Gary Moore. Bad Reputation è prodotto in Canada da Tony Visconti (1977) e vende moltissimo, e l’apoteosi si conclude con un live, Live And Dangerous (1978), che arriva al numero 2 in classifica inglese ma passa alla storia per essere considerato un “finto live”, manipolato ad arte in studio da Visconti per passare come tale. Vanno a Parigi, con Moore che prende il posto di Roberston anche in studio, e registrano in 3 mesi al Pathé Marconi EMI Studios. Se dal vivo si presentano come una pirotecnica band heavy metal, con tutti gli eccessi del caso, dal vivo sono molto più sperimentali e il disco che ho scelto oggi lo dimostra in pieno. Black Rose: A Rock Legend che esce nell’aprile del 1979, in piena scossa punk, prende il nome dall’ultima canzone, Róisín Dubh, un traditional irlandese (dove la rosa simboleggia l’Irlanda, martoriata dall’invasione inglese) che mette in medley con altri canti tradizionali: Shenandoah, Will You Go Lassie Go, Danny Boy e The Mason's Apron, ovviamente arrangiato con il piglio di Lynott e Moore. Il disco si apre con il rullante potente di Do Anything You Want, rombante, e che mostra ancora una volta il timbro vocale affascinante di Lynott, che a fine brano canta “alla Elvis Presley”. Toughest Street In Town è il loro lato più radiofonico, S & M ha un ritmo funky, Waiting For An Alibi è il singolo del disco, che arriva in classifica in UK fino al numero 6. Sarah è una dolce ballata dedicata alla neonata figlia di Lynott. Got To Give Up e Get Out Of Here sono due brani che fanno esplodere tutta la bravura chitarrista di Moore e Gorham, che si trovano a meraviglia, e davvero da riscoprire è soprattutto la seconda, maestosa. Chiudono il disco With Love, che è il brano più furbo, e si chiude con i 7 minuti spettacolari di Róisín Dubh. Lynott, con gravi problemi di droga, inizierà una carriera solista, che destabilizzerà la band, che perde Gary Moore per l’ennesima volta: viene sostituito prima da Midge Ure, che diventerà poi famoso con gli Ultravox, e poi da Snowy White. I risultati sono scarsi, ma c’è l'ennesima svolta: nel gruppo arriva John Sykes, giovane e talentuoso chitarrista, con cui Lynott rinasce, e lo dimostrano due grandi dischi: Thunder And Lightining e Life\Live, entrambi del 1983, con quest’ultimo che in un brano vede la presenza sul palco di tutti i chitarristi precedenti. Sarà il canto del cigno, perchè la band si scioglie e nel 1986 Lynott muore, per abuso di droghe, dopo 10 giorni di coma. Il nome Thin Lizzy continuerà a esistere, ma diventerà una sorta di band commemorativa di un decennio vissuto a tutta velocità da un irlandese che non sembrava un irlandese, che aveva un gran talento.
