RW Repurposed: I'm Sorry
A short story based on the winner of this silly little poll.
Suns regretted everything they ever did for and to Pebbles. However, a sorry doesn't fix everything, does it? And now, it's too late for words. It's time for action.
Yes, I delayed making this comic for months now and people have forgotten about it. And no- sunstone is not canon in Repurposed, I just used the ship name because it's easier to describe character interaction. Trafficlight ftw bois
So yeah, enjoy!
===
QNA for the blog is still open! You can ask the characters that are present in the comics as well!

BONUS:
Tumblr media
The joke is that Pebbles cannot "disperse" Midnight and therefore takes an L from a spectral scug.

One of my rain world ocs. Some Place Warm belongs to the Winding Depths local group.
Background and Descriptions below
Personality: Empathetic, Self-Conscious, Optimistic, Naïve, Creative, Sweet, Warm, Emotional, Impulsive
Background: Some Place Warm was a construction unit repurposed into an iterator by the head house member of Unfathomable Depths, Veins of Gold. Due to a programming error in construction of a nearby iterator, SPW inherited the remaining parts, resulting in her superstructure being, roughly, twice the size of a normal iterator.
Yet, due to inheriting said error, her original body (the puppet) is not fully synced up to her superstructure. This causes her great pain when she utilizes over 20-25% of the threshold. While there is a solution to fully sync the two mechanical bodies, it would require a complete factory reset of her programming, which would cause her memories and personality to be wiped. Since the head of the household did not see this as mandatory (since SPW was still capable of doing her job and cooling her systems under her max threshold) she did not force her to undergo the procedure and left it as the iterator’s choice.
While she is programmed to solve the great problem just like other iterators, her priority is creating materials and repairing superstructures of neighboring local groups in the vicinity. However, after the destruction of Diamonds in the Sky and A Silent Orchestra, the transportation systems that linked her and other groups were destroyed and irreparable, making the task impossible.
With the eventual decline and lack of communication with her senior and other iterators—as well as many local wildlife dying due to climate change—SPW mentally breaks and decides to initiate the factory reset and have her puppet properly synced with her superstructure. With her memory wiped and her personality slightly altered, Some Place Warm continues to thrive into a new era no other iterator would be able to experience.
Songs/OST:
Bulbel – Binary Haze Interactive & Mili
Habits (Pastel Ghost) – Mr. Kitty
Birth - Gavin Luke
Voice: Pascal from Nier: Automata (English: Alexis Tipton)
Tumblr media
Misc.:
+She helped create her other local group members, including her senior
+She enjoys making plushies of iterators she has met
+She lets a tribe of slugcats occupy one of the unused warehouses on her superstructure
+both have a positive relationship with each other
+she helps some plants thrive in the warehouse and other parts of the structure
+sometimes she babysits the pups when they have group hunts/gatherings
+She loves to collect pearls the slugcats give her
+She has a crush on Civil Authority and Five Pebbles
-She is prone to having anxiety attacks
-Sometimes she acts before she thinks (with the exception of her construction job since she was heavily programmed to be concise as possible with it)
-She is actually one of the few that never believed in the ancients’ core belief system of cycles but she’s worried that others would outcast her for it so she stays quiet
-She has her reasons, but the matriarch had the same belief so she is also biased in the principle as well
-She fully believes no one is supposed to leave the cycle and that the void below is a hazardous material that exacerbated this claim
+-She has a theory that the void is either a cognition hazard made up of heavily toxic materials and oil or it is a physical manifestation of anti-matter

You know five pebbles, you should really allow the pipe cleaners (also known as slugcats) to live in your in your can. You can teach them how to eat the rot or even kill it.
You can get them to live in the upper city area or maybe purpose a few to live in there. I purposed mine to eat the rot after it grew a bit on S.O.S’s scanners back when they were functional…Worked like a charm!
I’m just saying man, those pipe cleaners are much more handy then you think.
I do not know the state of the species in your can, but mine are not pipe cleaners. They are, as far as I am aware of a different genus now, they have outgrown the purpose of cleaning and do it terribly now.
I cannot repurpose or in fact purpose any organism anymore, the rot and decay has definitely taken a toll on that system. And to replace an infestation with another one? I might understand it if it came from someone more friendly towards lower life forms, like NSH or LTTM, but I will not tolerate any infestation.

incinerator au info!
i think i'll edit this as i think of more stuff or just like. reblog but i wanna write down what i have for it so far ! before i forget ( update 31/07: renamed the arsonist to bunsen burner! since i've seen a few named the same and i wanted to avoid any confusion :] there's so many fire-based scugs i love them all ) the incinerator au essentially focuses on the story of a fiery slugcat called bunsen burner, who was created by [golden ochre, longing desires] (aka gold) to assist him in his work. though he didn't care for her much at all, so she left to create her own family, one which she eventually lost due to the rot.
bunsen burner decided that she'd make it her life mission to destroy every last piece of rot. to spare herself and other creatures from that same fate, at a hefty cost. much of the rot came from iterators, so they ultimately ended up as her main target (out of an apathetic malice rather than hatred towards iterators in particular, though she heavily dislikes gold and destroys any overseers' of his that she finds)
i think it would tie together a few smaller plotlines rather than follow one massive plotline? so for example, gold is trying to locate an unknown iterator that sent out a distress signal. around this time, [five pebbles'] structure is heavily damaged and so he *needs* help (whether he likes it or not). and when gold eventually realises that the iterator he's searching for is in a rot-infested region, he needs to figure out how to get to the iterator before bunsen burner does? something like that!
i think another pretty big difference to the standard rain world formula is that. one of the oc iterators, known as for a [dream true, on cloud nine] (nine), is an engineer! a highly skilled individual that knows how to repurpose iterators' puppets in order to let them leave their structures. with high-risk but high-reward stakes; i don't think every semi-local iterator went through with their experiment, such five pebbles, but i like the idea of some of them being able to walk around :] and i think nine helping moon out after her collapse would be sweet.
time-wise i think it takes starts off just a little after the survivor-monk timeline? before rivulets, so the rot within five pebbles' structure isn't as severe, but still a massive threat to his well-being. bunsen burner is an older slugcat, she was small when gold first started his search but left for a long time shortly afterwards
i'm not sure who i entirely want to add but im sure i'll figure it out! i think having my own au versions of the favourite iterators would be cool since i love them so much. + NSH i could easily fit in if i give him some form of rot, given it's already a known and researched topic, and he *was* the one that made hunter. i just want moon to be happy and to be able to gaze at the shoreline properly this time too i think she deserves it
the main canon iterators are probably in one local group while the oc iterators are in their own local group, nearby their region. then there's also the wastelands rather than the shoreline for the oc iterators, where a lot of residue, rot, and general dangerous waste ends up dumped in.
this is a. ramble! but i wanted to get that out there anyway plus. writing it out helps me figure out what i wanna do for the au in my head. reading all of five pebbles and moons' lines and all the broadcasts makes me appreciate the iterators so much more than i already did so i'd love to make use of their communication styles ...
extra information / drabbles:
a bit about upgrades and rivulet
bunsen burner design?

As you continue to climb down The Wall, you see that thing coming closer to Five Pebbles’ wall. Though, with you now just below the clouds, it’s still just as hard to make out what it is. Right now, though, you have other concerns, such as not dying to the newest enemy.
Tumblr media
Behold, The Strider(s)! What do they want with you? They want you dead! Why do they want you dead? You’re a traitor to their creator! Who is their creator? Get a new pair of eyes and look at the symbol on their chest! Why did Five Pebbles make them? Look under the cut with the pair of eyes you just got!
The Strider (aka MirosCat, aka Miroscug, aka Oh Lawd They Comin’)
HP: 4
Attacks: Cleanse, Big Kicky
Cleanse: the user forms 6 balls of anti-rot liquid, then shoots them like a shotgun, with one ball having perfect accuracy. Deals 6 damage to everything but rot cysts, if all 6 balls connect. Deals 72 damage to all rot cysts except for Mother Long Legs and Sister Long Legs. Deals 12 damage to Mother Long Legs and Sister Long Legs. Exclusive to The Strider.
Big Kicky: the user kicks whatever is nearby with their massive metal legs. Takes a long time to deal damage. Deals 2 damage if it hits (it won’t hit if you’re smart enough to stay away or parry it). Exclusive to The Strider, Miros Birds, Iterator puppets, and Manually Repurposed Yeeks.
Weaknesses: throwing a spear into their cannon arm will cause them to violently explode when they next attempt to use Cleanse.
Abilities: cannot be detected by rot cysts
Drops: 1x orange pearl
Unique pearl: the orange pearls that they drop upon defeat contains instructions on their purpose.
Lore: Long before you rose to power, Five Pebbles experimented with purposing slugcats to fulfill certain needs of his. This was before he developed the rot, but he was afraid of catching it, so he began purposing slugcats to fulfill this role. He decided against repurposing inspectors, because he worried that they would be too slow in the event that they needed to run from a rot cyst and would be absorbed into their mass. In the end, he deemed slugcats the only creature that was both mobile and smart enough to do what he had planned.
He began selectively breeding slugcats to have red saliva that could create small explosions on impact that reacted particularly violently with rot cysts. He couldn’t test it, but he could send these over to other iterators to have them tested. Once he was satisfied with the results he got back from SRS and NSH, he began replacing parts of adult slugcats with robotics, including some that came from miros birds. To prevent their tails from getting caught in the machinery, he cut those tails short enough that they couldn’t reach over.
After a few generations of testing, the scavenger queen of the time (your great great great great grandmother) began to notice that their explosive saliva was a very effective tool against most forms of creature, and started imprisoning them to experiment. She found that when the saliva came into contact with specific metals, it would harden and wrap around those metals, creating explosive spears and grenades.
This raised an issue for Five Pebbles. After just a few generations of testing, he was forced to call back all units and cancel field testing so that they didn’t keep getting hunted by scavengers.
After thousands of cycles, some of the bacteria in the saliva that they produced eventually formed a symbiotic relationship with an ancestor to batnip, and after thousands of more cycles, eventually evolved to become the cherrybombs that scavengers now use to create explosives. It was quite convenient, because at about that time, the last of their captured slugcats were dying of old age.
However, just a few hundred cycles before Flood Of Pain came to happen, one of the slugcats kept in Five Pebbles escaped captivity and sought refuge in Outer Expanse. This individual would become The Artificer. After a few hundred cycles, just 34 before the Flood Of Pain began, The Artificer decided to revisit Five Pebbles and show him the kids she had had. But, you know how that went.
When Five Pebbles heard word that you were on your way to destroy Moon, he decided to deploy some of these around his structure, since he believed that just one would be plenty enough to defeat you.
These purposed slugcats have had extra legs added to them, and their right arms replaced with a blaster that lets them shoot out their saliva directly. The explosions aren’t very big at all, just barely larger than the projectiles themselves, but they can still pack enough of a punch to do serious damage. Good luck!
