The Royal Rumble Marathon: 2004
We’re rumbling into 2004.
Spoilers for past Rumbles.
The undercard:
Evolution (Batista/Flair) vs the Dudleys in a table interference. Okay match with a Coach run-in. Evolution won.
Jon Cena interviewed by a young Josh Woods. Interrupted by Rob Van Dam.
Rey Mysterio vs Jamie Noble, accompanied by a “blind” Nidia. I loved Noble and Nidia back in the day, they were hilarious. Rey wins after mis-timed interference by Nidia.
Eddie Guerrero vs Chavo Guerrero, accompanied by Chavo Sr. Eddie wins and beats up Chavo Sr after the match. I miss Eddie, he was fantastic in the ring.
Benoit promo interrupted by ¾’s of Evolution
Brock Lesnar vs Hardcore Holly. Holly wants revenge against Brock for the broken neck he suffered after he stupidly tried to sandbag Brock. Brock wins.
Shawn Michaels vs Triple H in a last man standing match for the World championship. Hunter retains when both men are unable to answer the ten count. Lame.
Before the Rumble can begin, we have a mini-brawl between Austin, Heyman, and Bischoff.
Goldberg promo interrupted by Lesnar.
The Rumble entrants, in order of appearance:
1) Chris Benoit
2) Randy Orton
3) Mark Henry
4) Tajiri
5) Bradshaw
6) Rhino
7) Matt Hardy
8) Scott Steiner
9) Matt Morgan
10) The Hurricane
11) Booker T
12) Kane
13) Spike Dudley
14) Rikishi

20) Rico (accompanied by Jackie Gayda)
21) Mick Foley
22) Christian
23) Nunzio
24) Big Show
25) Chris Jericho
26) Charlie Haas
27) Billy Gunn
28) John Cena
29) Rob Van Dam
30) Goldberg
Highlights:
Kane is distracted by an Undertaker-return psych out, is eliminated by Booker, and takes his frustration out on Spike, preventing the smallest Dudley from entering the Rumble.
Ernest Miller and his sidekick’s dancing routine in the ring (somebody call his mama!),
Foley knocks Test out and Austin orders Mick to replace Test in the Rumble – Mick beelines straight to Randy Orton.
Jericho eliminates his “good friend” Christian for a second year in a row.
Lesnar attacks Goldberg during the Rumble.
Big Show uses his rump to send Kurt Angle flying.

Smackdown! vs Raw: Part 4 - the Monstrous Bubba Ray Dudley
LuLu, bitter that he was unable to kidnap another woman, enters his match against Bobcore Bob Holly with piss and vinegar.
He still loses. After the match, Renee DuPree pops up and condescends to LuLu. That fucking Caucsoid dares talk down to LuLu? It’s on.
Dupree, a classic 21 year old Has-Been
Dupree and LuLu bicker - DuPree calls LuLu junior and acts like he’s been here for decades, because I get the feeling this storyline was not made with him in mind, while LuLu makes annoying marvel quips. DuPree reveals he has a friend. It’s-OH FUCK
Bubba, still furious that I beat up Charlie Hass that one time, beats the shit out of LuLu from behind after he tricks him with a fake entrance. DuPree and Bubba continue to beat the shit out of LuLu, and DuPree boasts that he’ll end LuLu’s career!
The next week, Kurt Angle comes out to denounce the beating. Calling it one of the most heinous he ever saw, and summons Bubba Ray, angry that he hospitalised LuLu.
Yeah he’s real "upset"
Bubba Ray smugly tells him that he was just providing exciting TV - “How could I know he was so… fragile.” Kurt, a glint in his eye, smirks. “He wasn’t as fragile as he seemed!” LuLu marches in, enraged…
...and very fragile, all crippled up.
LuLu announces that he’ll strike back at No Mercy, and Angle makes it a No DQ match. Revenge will be served! Backstage, Rey Mysterio expresses his admiration for LuLu’s courage. While Rey’s not White, he’s still not Black, so LuLu tells him to fuck off.
Rey sulks off, and LuLu remains partnerless for his feud against DuPree and Bubba.
Next week, LuLu confirms to his millions of fans(?) that his doctors are saying he’ll be better by No Mercy and calls out his attackers to a match - both of them, even though he has no backup, because he is retarded. LuLu "enjoys" a nice handicap match.
He very, very, very narrowly won the match by making DuPree tap out. But the fucking obvious happens after the match.
DuPree and Bubba walk away, and LuLu prepares to face them at No Mercy… sort of. In a handicap match, they need to tag in to get support, or else be DQ’d. But while the match in No Mercy is a single against Bubba, who LuLu has never beaten, DuPree willI be present, and be impossible to DQ. His only hope is that Bubba is too proud to rely on DuPree, and gentle Lutalo can use weapons well enough to beat Bubba…
Truly, LuLu will show Bubba... No Mercy!!
Bubba swings at LuLu, but LuLu is able to counter into a grapple that takes Bubba down for just long enough to escape the ring and grab chairs. LuLu alternates between beating Bubba down and taunting to raise his Finisher bar. LuLu is able to crush Bubba’s throat with the chair, and goes for a pin!
AND THEN
DuPree gets into the ring to break up the pin, and Bubba uses the distraction to take LuLu down. When he takes LuLu down, he hits him several times with a chair and then uses a chair finisher and beats LuLu in roughly two minutes like LuLu had done nothing to him before that. It was so fast I didn’t get any screenshots of it. DuPree stands over LuLu's body and taunts him.
The camera focuses on LuLu’s broken body, and the show comes to a close.
And the biggest part of the tragedy is that no one offered to help.

The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog #2 - Some Random Thoughts (Pro-Wrestling NOAH, Toni Storm & Ricky Starks)
The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog
THEBLUEBRANDWRESTLINGBLOG.BLOGSPOT.COM
The Blue Brand Wrestling Blog #2
Some random thoughts (Pro-Wrestling NOAH, Toni Storm & Ricky Starks)
Hey there guys & girls,
I’m Andy Mac, AKA The Blue Brand owner and creator (@The_Blue_Brand) on X / Twitter. I thought I would delve into the world of blog writing and what better thing to write about than my favourite pastime Professional Wrestling.
Today I thought I’d discuss a few random things in the world of Professional Wrestling -
Pro Wrestling NOAH
First of all, let’s discuss Pro Wrestling NOAH, a company based out of Japan, founded in the year 2000 by former All Japan Pro Wrestling ace Mitsuharu Misawa. My interest in the company first peaked in Autumn 2022 whilst watching Café De René on YouTube. (If you’re not already watching the live streams Rene Dupree and company upload usually around twice a week you’re really missing out.) Stumbling across this channel by chance, I discovered that René had been working in Japan for quite some time and latterly worked for Pro Wrestling NOAH before returning to Canada from Japan. Don't get me wrong, I had heard of the company previously, but never knew where to watch it, the history of the company etc..
I’d been having a little bit of a slump with my enthusiasm for Professional Wrestling at the time – I was tired of watching my Ruthless Aggression playthrough on the WWE Network that I had started during the pandemic in 2020. The current WWE product is hard to watch at times for a fan who has watched religiously through the Attitude Era and the Ruthless Aggression Era. So, this left me with watching podcasts of stars I enjoyed in the past and fondly remembering the old days with YouTube channels like Wrestling Bios. (Another great channel to check out!)
When I noticed the advert for Pro Wrestling NOAH on the end of a Café De René show on YouTube one day, I thought to myself, why not check this out? Pure wrestling, hard and stiff with great storytelling and a roster full of talent.
Three of my favourites that have stood out so far are Kaito Kiyomiya, Kenoh and Naomichi Marufuji. Kiyomiya is a fantastic young talent, my first NOAH match was Kiyomiya Vs Kenoh for the GHC Heavyweight Championship in September 2022. Kenoh, leader of an awesome faction called Kongo came into this match as the champion, in a stiff and hard-fought battle the two men battered each other for 26 minutes before Kiyomiya managed to get the win.
If you’re looking for some great and hard hitting, back and forth action with good story telling then give NOAH a chance. I’ve found it refreshing and I’ve even signed up to Wrestle Universe, an app / website that can be bought for ¥900/month (Just under £5 here in the UK) I’ve been using it this week to catch up on the N-1 VICTORY 2023 from the 3rd September.
If you want to maybe watch a few matches first, get a feel for the company and what it has to offer then I would recommend checking out the Pro Wrestling NOAH Official English Channel on YouTube. It uploads the occasional full-length match on there – Oh, and don’t worry it has English commentary. If you decide to check it out, let me know what you think!
'The Illustrious’ Toni Storm
Secondly, lets quickly discuss Toni Storm and her recent shift in character on AEW television. Her backstage interviews with Renee Young, Lexy Nair and Tony Schiavone across AEW Dynamite and AEW Collision have been extremely entertaining. She’s nailing it with the change of look, slight change of accent, facial expressions, comedic timing (Bouncing off the interviewer with chemistry, funny moments, and perfect timing – And of course throwing the shoe!) and the creation of an interesting character within the AEW women’s division. I’ll openly admit I’ve only just started paying attention to AEW again in the last few weeks, but Toni Storm has immediately stood out as the best thing going in their women’s division. If they book her right, this incarnation of Toni Storm has a lot of longevity in it – Let’s keep an eye on the illustrious Toni Storm moving forward.
Side note – If there are any other women wrestlers on the AEW roster I’m sleeping on, let me know!
Ricky Starks
And finally, just a quick note on Ricky Starks. Apart from CM Punk, FTR, Christian Cage and Samoa Joe on AEW Collision, Ricky Starks is the most entertaining and interesting character on the show. With CM Punk now gone (As discussed in my first blog) I’ll be expecting Ricky Starks to become even more prominent. I like his pairing with Big Bill (Big Cass), his segments with Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat were entertaining and his feud with CM Punk was an interesting one, unfortunately due to Punk’s conduct we were robbed of this final showdown. (Regardless, Danielson and Starks had a great match at AEW All Out last weekend)
Presentation is a big part of getting someone over in Professional Wrestling – Quite often I have found AEW are average with this, but I must admit they’ve done a good job with Starks. I like his entrance, it makes him feel like a big deal, a star and someone with a desire and determination to become the best by any means possible. He can talk and looks great. I’m interested to see what’s next for him in AEW.
Anyway, I’ll stop rambling on now. Thanks for checking this second blog out. I’m a self-confessed WWE fanboy, always have been since I started watching WWE as a child. However, as you can hopefully and probably tell I’m trying to broaden by Professional Wrestling palate and horizons. If there is anything else you can recommend I’m open to suggestions. I’m taking a break from my 9-5 office job at the moment and trying to fill my time!
Please leave feedback, if it’s constructive then I’ll always appreciate it. I’m always happy to learn and to become better. Please keep it respectful though, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Take it easy guys,
Andy
