One Sided Love Triangles: Tokyo Debunker
Link to Twisted Wonderland Post
Because I hate when people have to lose. Though I'd be way more comfortable writing a normal love triangle for tdb than twst... there's a few of these bitches who could stand to be knocked down a peg or two.
Haru vs Peekaboo- betrayal never comes from your enemies does it. Haru wants to be happy you get along with his baby, and he's really grateful for your continued help in the anomalous animal sanctuary, really. He even originally found your interactions with Peekabo really cute! He's got a bunch of videos saved on his phone and everything but he can't help but feel just a wee bit bitter. He really wants to be the one with his head in your lap getting scritches and being told how cute he is. Something he'd never say to your face but whines about at the bar enough for Romeo to record and send to you. "For free?" Yeah for free he's had enough of this shit please come get your man MC.
Kaito vs Luca- this one is cannon to a degree I think... Kaito is deeply insecure about how much more confident Luca is around MC compared to him and how the girls on campus seem to like him more. The fact that he's so painfully oblivious doesn't help, meanwhile Luca is just overjoyed that his two best friends are in such a good relationship. You're genuinely perfect for each other, why all these secrecy and making him promise not to tell the other about the nice things you say? Isn't it natural to gush about your partner???
Towa vs Ren- Towa is such a pouty baby who doesn't fully understand his feelings and Ren is just happy to have a friend who understands the concept of a log in bonus. Neither of you fully realize that Towa is attempting to flirt, or would it be closer to say woo? All you know is one minute the two of you are casually chilling and talking about horror movies or something and then *BAM* Towa's thrown some flowers at Ren and pulled you into his lap. He's happy you wiggle to get comfy with him but very upset that you keep up your conversation with Ren. Stop being a good senpai and pay attention to hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim.
Tohma vs Leo- just hear me out. I don't think Tohma really gets jealous? He seems super secure in himself and his abilities so he doesn't have much of a reason to get whiny and silly over MC, that's your role in the relationship. And he knows, logically that this little video Leo uploaded is bait to test the security on campus but it doesn't stop him from damn near cracking his phone in half when he sees it. That's how Leo wants to play this little game? Well fine, Tohma hopes he's ready to be thoroughly humiliated. No one can flirt with another man's partner quite as well as a bitch with a monocle. Leo is totally unaware any of this for the most part, he just assumes the extra irritation he's picking up on from Tohma is because he keeps spying on him and Alan. The fact he keeps teasing MC doesn't even cross his mind, he's just doing that to irritate you.
... as a side note can you imagine how confused everyone would get if Leo and MC kept picking fights about their upcoming "divorce" when no one even thought they were ever technically together. Except for Ritsu who sits you down to seriously try to talk you in to let him being your divorce attorney and still doesn't fully get that it's a joke by the time you're done. Actually while I'm at it:
Leo vs Ritsu- where that's exactly your dynamic but Leo starts catching some genuine feelings when he tries to crack a joke about you cheating on him with your divorce attorney only to realize that makes him unironically angry. How dare you, after everything you've been through. Wasn't he he enough? You know he can't treat you like he can. And you're just like "what can't treat me wrong?" And then you have a very toxic make out session Sho has to hear both of you scream about later while he seriously considers taking up a drinking problem.
Taiga vs Haru- this game has one character named Haru (ginger, baby) and one named Haku (green, evil?) Which confuses me an unreasonable amount. I already mentioned I wanted a serious Taiga vs Haku love triangle... but Taiga vs Haru would just be silly. You have MC who loves anomalous animals and hanging out in Jabberwock and Taiga who hates emotional intimacy and his feelings for MC just as much as he hates the idea of you being with anyone else. And of all people why Harry? He thought they were friends... or cool at least even if he won't let him eat that chinchilla thing. And now he's got MC playing defense for it too, it's irritating. He already has to fight himself to remember who you are every time he sees you again and go through the annoyance of recognizing he's a bit in love and now he can't even break into the animal sanctuary without tripping over himself and paying attention to you instead. It's annoying and it's all Haru's fault for having everything he wants. (If you ask he'll say that complaint is about Peekaboo but Haru and Romeo know it's not.) Haru is just trying to get some help from a trusted friend he's so stressed out ;-;
Sho vs Jin- Sho and his excuses... he doesn't want to just invite you to hang out and he doesn't want to ask you to come help him with the food truck because you've got so much else to do. You deserve a chance to rest, and he wants to be who you come to do that with. But Jin... he'd make that so much easier if it was him wouldn't he? He's rich and connected, and you're so sweet he's sure you could thaw that frozen heart enough for him to see you as human and not a gopher. Sho knows you, the moment he started paying attention to you he saw you as a person. But he still hurt you... and Jin didn't really do that did he? Jin doesn't like Sho because he's in Vagastrom and he doesn't trust him with your safety. Sho might see a rival and a better option, but what he's really dealing with is MC's disapproving dad who can't stand that their boyfriend has a leather jacket and a motorbike. He bets he's got tattoos and an arrest record too doesn't he MC, Jin is judging you so hard.

TU CORAZÓN ES MÍO — ORQUÍDEAS X WINBRE.
There is absolutely no one like him. All you hear is that young love is nothing more than miserable. With him, though, it's the complete opposite. He is your present and future, going through thick and thin together. Your heart is his, and his heart is yours.
STARRING . . . Ren Kaji, Jo Togame, Toma Hiragi. fem! reader
Tumblr media
DICEN QUE EL AMOR EN SU JUVENTUD
SOLO TERMINA EN DOLOR... featuring REN KAJI
Ren Kaji was tired of hearing the same bullshit that came from every old fart's mouth. That young love isn't meant to last, not one bit. Every second spent together will eventually crumble, and it's best to go your separate ways before life itself sets you apart. Right?
Hell fucking no. Ren Kaji was sure that they must have had shitty, unhappy lives, because there was no way he could imagine life without you.
Sure, things were not always a bed of roses. Kaji knew that he wasn't exactly the best type of person to deal with, so he knew that it could take a bit for him to get used to things. And truth be told, he was glad you were patient.
Relationships weren't his strong suit—hell, you were his first one. His inexperience and his temper made it a wild ride, but you were willing to welcome him with open, loving arms. Your embrace made him forget about everything else: no person, comment, or action could come between the two of you. You were inseparable.
His first date, first kiss, first time, you were present in all. The more Kaji spent his days with you, the more he realized how many idiots he had heard say that this wouldn't last. He was determined to prove them wrong.
And he knew that he was being hasty, the way the velvety box slipped from his fingers many times was enough for the world to know that for the first time, Ren Kaji was anxious.
Fresh out of high school, he bolted through the busy streets. His destination? Your home.
Because after a nasty fight, he knew he had to make things right. He couldn't afford to lose you—not now, not ever.
When you heard a knock on your door, what you saw left you speechless. Your boyfriend was absolutely disheveled, with his hair all over his face, his eyes brimming with tears, and an open velvety box in his hand, revealing a thin band with your birthstone.
"I don't give one shit that we're young, but I want you to know that my heart is yours. This ring's all I have for now. Yn, marry me."

WHAT DO THEY KNOW?
THEY'RE MISERABLE, BROKEN, AND ALONE... featuring JO TOGAME
It had to be kept a secret. For both your sakes.
Because if the townspeople were to know that Bofurin's most beloved princess was involved with Shishitoren's second in command, frankly, a war was to take place.
It wasn't as if Togame was a complete asshole, but first impressions were always of upmost importance. And Jo Togame had screwed up by being a douche to Bofurin and falling for someone in enemy territory.
He was running out of excuses.
From having to run errands, being too tired and having to head home early, or even having to go to the bathroom and mysteriously spend hours looking for one, Togame always had a little lie up his sleeve in order to sneak out. It got difficult with time as Choji offered to accompany him in his errands, and Sako questioned him on why his lips were swollen, a red tint smeared across them.
"So, who's the lucky gal?"
"Dunno what you're talking about, I drank beet juice, that's all."
"Does beet juice leave your hair messy and give you hives on your neck?"
Togame chuckled as he raised his hands to his head, patting down his hair in an attempt to fix it. "Don't push it. I'll bring her over when I'm ready."
Sako stared at Togame with wide eyes, seemingly unable to process that he had indeed accurately guessed Togame's secret activities. "It's that serious?" he asked, with his raven haired friend humming in return.
"Best thing to ever happen to me. Keep it on the low, will ya? Don't want this spilling out."
Togame’s secret was well kept until a few weeks later, when he found himself inside a popular restaurant which was the borderline between Bofurin and Shishitoren territory.
And technically, he tried his best to be discreet. The restaurant’s popularity had skyrocketed overnight, which essentially meant he was to be more wary. A cap was on his head, with some dark aviator shades covering his eyes. All that hard work for nothing, as his infamous jacket was still draped over his shoulders.
The ‘disguise’ was worth it, though, as a smile grew on your face from how ridiculous he looked. It was a sign that Jo Togame was willing to go above and beyond in order to make you happy, and you were sure to keep that in mind.
“Jo, aren’t those your friends?”
The look on his face was indescribable. He whooshed his hand in the air in an attempt to call a waiter and ask for a check, and ended up drawing more attention to him.
And there they were, Choji Tomiyama and Kota Sako, making a beeline towards his table, wide eyes and shit eating grins plastered on their faces. Choji was the first to speak up, his hand patting the cap on his friend’s head. “What’s with the look, Kame-chan?”
"Is this the girl you told us about? Wait—isn't she—"
"She is" he sighed, "which is why I wanted things to be lowkey."
Sako looked distressed, his hands stuffed inside his pockets. "Do you know what'll be of us if Bofurin was to find out about this?"
Togame simply smiled in return, intertwining his fingers with yours.
"If Bofurin finds out and has a problem, it means they're miserable, broken, and alone. I love Yn, and I'd to through hell and five steps beyond for her."

A ESTAS CALLES NO VOY A REGRESAR PA NADA
TENGO ALGUIEN QUE ME AMA... featuring TOMA HIRAGI
No matter how many men you met and dated, you never seemed to find yourself comfortable with them. From them being too little or too much, you thought you'd never find the perfect match.
And your best friend Toma Hiragi had the pleasure to hear all about it.
"I mean, the date was horrible!" you exclaimed, running your fingers through your hair. "He spent the whole date on his phone talking to his friends, and when it was time to pay, he expected me to do so! I got so angry I stood up and left him on the spot. Even the waitress supported me!"
Toma sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "And ya went on this blind date because...?"
"Because I want someone who can treat me right, Toma, and so far I've found nothing but assholes."
He loved the way his name rolled so smoothly off your tongue. You were his closest friend, the one he went to for everything. Hearing about your love life mishaps was enough for him to stuff his whole stomach with pills.
"Oh, for fuck's sake..."
"What?"
"Ya know what? Friday. 7pm. Dress nice."
"Why—what for?" you asked, to which Hiragi just facepalmed. "You complain so damn much about assholes, figured I'll just take ya to dinner instead. So, dress nice, and don't make me wait."
As soon as you heard those words, you knew your life was about to change. Because Hiragi doesn't do things for anybody, so for him to ask you to dinner was huge.
It wasn't a one time thing. Each week, you found yourself in various food places and arcades with Hiragi, with his excuse being that 'this was a way for you to shut your trap.' And it worked?
There were no more blind dates, or random hookups. Just Hiragi taking up more and more of your time every day. You couldn't lie to yourself, it felt like heaven.
"Toma, why do you keep taking me places? I don't want you to do it if it's out of pity, y'know. Save your cash."
He shook his head in response, "Save it? I've been waitin' for this since forever ago, ya think I'm gonna waste my chance?"
"What do you mean?"
"My heart's always belonged to ya, stupid. It's about damn time ya know."

Chapter outlines
Chapter 1: Heath arrives in the Philippines in 1987 after a transfer. He meets Lt. Page Fontanilla-Sy who is newly mintrd after years of being a Sargeant.
She will enter the Narcotics Division. But their meeting isn't well. Heath underestimates her.
"There are some culture aspects you have to deal with." Donald Rogan said, across Heath.
"Filipinos are touchy with level of closeness. Only call them by by their title and family name. No first names. Only reserved outside of work. Friends. Lovers. Other than that, you know which mostly unlikely, leaving shoes ."
"I will only be there for a few years wouldn't I?"
"Sure.'"
"Asia. Few miles down at home." Heath tapped his fingers.
"Your family-- all packed and ready?"
"Yes, we'll be going together soon."
"okay good luck."
The flight to the Philippines from LA Airport is in the air for four hours now.
Sara Heath, still rosy from the Mexican tan, as she flips through the tourism magazine.
"A mix of past and present. East meets west. Traditional and Modern. Exotic and western. Hmmm---" She looks at his husband, Ed who did not react and just rose an eyebrow.
Philippines had been an American colony, but they grew more in terms economic and technological advancements. Philippines is richer than Mexico so to speak and more advanced than US. THEIR number competitor is Japan. With progress comes drug addiction.
The next week was Sara's duty to register their kids, Bill and Rocky aged 18 and 15 to the schools. New one.
Except this time they don't need to learn the local language as the country has four official languages including Spanish and English. The others, Chinese and Tagalog, it would be interesting.
Ed meets the DEA Administrator Carl Holsbrook.
"I have to warn you, Ed, what you do in South America is quite different here. The Filipino government here, well, they have pride. Too much, I'd say thinking they can topple the drug Lords themselves. We can't go to China, so this is the closest."
Carl stopped at a studio, glass full open allowing to see the match. Carl points at one of the grapplers, tied auburn hair, in white fighter uniform and black belt.
Ed raised an eyebrow. "She's the squad leader for Precinct 07, PNP Narcotics Division."
"A she?" Ed asked a bit disgruntled. Though he sees her flipping the enemy on its back and tying back her hair again.
"Yes, she just became a Lieutenant months ago. And when the division was created, the General himself presented her."
Ed smirks almost mockingly. "I know a lot of women in the police force, but this isn't, drug business is not a place for a woman "
"Try telling that to my face." Almost chillingly, Paige spoke beside them, as she drinks from a bottled water. Her hands soaks wet from washing her hands and wipes it off.
"Lieutenant, how's that poor guy?" Carl asked.
"He won't tneed to visit a chiropractor, that's for sure."
"Darn. Anyway, this is the DEA attache, director of operations, Special Agent Heath. Ed, Lieutenant Paige Fontanilla-Sy of PNP Narcotics."
Ed extends her arm to her but she shakes her head starng at his large, hairy hands. "I would shake your hand but, it's all sweaty."
"I wouldn't mind." Ed quipped but Paige turned away. "I thought the formal introductions will happen tomorrow."
"We have pressing matters at hand." Ed said, "We thought you'll have a quick judgment of it."
"just as how quick you judged me for having non-existent balls?"
Ed side glanced Carl and cleared her throat.
"I apologize But I mean well."
They walk through outside, a table is there.
"We have a tip this morning, and we're going to have a raid with Cho Ren Shi. He's getting help from some Mexican, Tonto, given that you're came from Mexico, an Intel is best shared."
"What's the game plan?"
"Cut his source. Make him lose money."
"Hell only lose more."
"Hmmm... I doubt that "
"You need a better perspective."
Paige but her lower lip controlling her anger. "This is my operation, we've been working on this for dayzs, so no better perspective of that than I have."
Carl stopped Ed, said something and left.
Ed is by the nightshade in his office, in the Mabini house. An ancestral house he and his family is assigned to live. He flips a document of the Lieutenant and he expects that the Lieutenant also has a file of him to her bedside or office table. Or maybe in her locker room.
Ed reads the whole thing but Carl says she has a thing for being anonymous and always professional.
Still intrigued, he read the whole file.
Paige Gerona Fontanilla-Sy. Filipino, born 1949. Born to parens who are now deceased. Married but name is not mentioned. He was told that Filipino women don't change their maiden names but just attach the name of their husbands next to theirs.
No other kin.
Light brown eyes, auburn to black hair. Light skin. Manly built of 5'9 and his wife is about 5'4.
She flips and her education and employment is written. She studied in the Philippines until 66, she went to Stanford and study Chemistry. Signed up for the West Point Academy. Just like her father.
Ed remembers at that time, he was already in the police force in Narcotics too.
Paige was sent to fight the Viet Congs in 75 for a year. She received a purple heart and went back to the Philippines. Joined the police force and the rest is history.
Top-performing cop.
Ed stares at her photograph, of 2 by 3, black and white. She was younger in that photo than when she met her in the morning. But slightly different. Asians are surprisingly younger than their age. She must be 37 now but she looks like a college girl. The type that he would have been chasing when he was in undergrad in Harvard. And in law school.
Ed closed the folder not wanting to go in details with her work accomplishments and arrests. The thickness of it is enough.
Meanwhile, Paige is on the raid and unknowingly the DEA agents is also on their own with no coordination with the National Police.
"Hands down!" Paige's voice resonates. Loud. Barking. Her Smith and Wesson in the air. Jacket around her with PNP label. Steve and Javier raise their hands, "We are DEA!"
"Boss, DEA daw."
"I heard. I'll be the judge of that." Paige cuffs Javier.
"Call the embassy. They'll confirm we are under operation."
"Okay, big boy." Paige drags him then inside the police jeepney.
The next day, Paige receives an awarding for her successful raids. Heath visits her offering congratulations. Paige is wearing her official uniform in a pencil skirt. Flowers in hand as she meets Heath in the hallway.
"Congratulations."
"Thanks. Two men are claiming to be part of DEA."
"I know they are in your station."
"I haven't told about this. You could have informed me."
"Paige-- I know I have said something out of line--."
"It's Lieutenant Fontanilla." She squints.
"Okay, Lieutenant... Fontanilla." He breathes and checks her hands have no ring. He is too. Rings are annoying for him.
"Can you release them first? And we'll talk."
"Fine. There are talks about joint force, I think that's a better option. They were in the way so you're lucky I want charge them."
"We still have rights to operate."
"Agent Heath, this isn't american colony anymore. Your rights to operate? That's nothing. My operation, my rules. You can talk to the president about it if it bothers you ."
"I have to remind you that under clause we are given immunity to make arrests."
"Okay, sure. Go be a lawyer about it."
"It's better we set up a meeting to discuss this."
"Works for me."
"Can I shake your hand now?"
Ed asks.
Paige shows her hand with the flower in one and her cap in another. "Maybe next time."
Ed smirks.
Before she turns around, she says, "Come by the station, and pick up your agents."
In the meeting room, General Trojes, Holbrook, Ed, Paige, and Defense Secretary and Solicitor General are in the meeting room. A joint task force called Operation South Bound will be arranged. It will be awarded off course to Lieutenant Paige Fontanilla. Her whole precinct, and three DEA agents will join the task force. Help is included.
Paige rolled her eyes when told that she still has to report to Ed not as a boss but more of an equal liaison so Ed will get what the taskforce needs in terms Intel, weapons, technology or additional manpower or even laws if it mattered. Ed waits for Paige to end her discussion with the Holbrook and the Trojes and as the men exited the conference room, Ed cornered Paige.
"Pai-- Lieutenant, I hope this finds us in a good working mood. For whatever was in the past."
"I don't harbor bad feelings, Agent Heath." Page extends her hand, and Ed receives it with the other and shakes on it before Paige walks out. Her pinstripe suit with powder blue inside, higjoghts her authority.

HEALER
One lucky Stormtrooper. That’s all it had taken to land a shot on the former Knight, to send a blaster bolt through her thigh. Luck had allowed the Trooper to land the hit, but it was luck that kept it from killing her, from firing through her bone or blood vessels, crippling her and leaving her to bleed out.
It hurt like a bitch, though, and it took every bit of strength she had to fight the urge to limp back to the Resistance once the fighting was done. When asked if she was wounded, she shook her head. Old habits die hard, and years of living under Snoke had taught her that admitting to any injury, any weakness, was suicide. She could power through it, and the wound would heal, and no one had to know.
Nearly a week after the battle, however, the wound still hadn’t healed. The medics had noticed the bandages and bacta she had stolen the day after the battle, which prevented her from going back, and left her with the option of merely cleaning the wound every day with hot water.
It didn’t work, the wound was definitely infected, and still Ursa pushed on with her daily routine, unwilling to let her weakness be known.
Exactly a week after the battle Ursa found herself in the mess hall, sitting with Ren and his new Resistance friends, struggling to remain conscious. She shivered ever so often, the air much colder than she remembered it being, though she was sure she was sweating despite it. Her head hurt, her body hurt, and she just wanted to go back to sleep.
“Hey Ursa?” Poe said, it taking far longer than it should have for her to register that he was speaking to her “Are you alright? You’re looking sort of terrible.” She shook her head, trying to clear away some of the fog.
“I’m going to go train,” she said, her instinct telling her she needed to get away from them before she was found out, before her injury was uncovered. She stood up, and her head swam, the floor pulling out from under her as her vision blurred and darkened.
She thought, maybe, she had heard Ren say her name, that he sounded concerned, but her head soon struck the floor and there was nothing after that but darkness.
—————-
“Will she be alright?” Ren asked, looking up at the Bacta Tank. He wasn’t sure what exactly he should focus on, the entire thing was making him uncomfortable. He knew Ursa’s modesty would cause her to hate being in such a state of undress in front of everyone, with only white undergarments to cover her.
Worse than her state of undress, however, was the scar running down her torso, for Ren could remember that fight well, and he had come so close to killing her that day. He had considered it, genuinely considered it. He had been offended by her challenge, had wanted to harm her, to punish her, and he knew that scar would never truly fade away.
The worst of them all, however, was her recent injury, the reason she was in the tank to begin with. An ugly blaster wound left untreated, allowed to fester and rot. The flesh around it was dying, Ren could see that clearly, and he was amazed Ursa had lasted a week.
“I’m not sure,” Kalonia confessed. “The Bacta can deal with her injury, but the infection is far along. We can only hope the antibiotics and her own body can fight it off.” Ren nodded, and Kalonia left, leaving Ren, Poe, Finn, and Rey alone.
“I don’t get it,” Poe said. “Why did she let it get that bad? She could have just headed to Medical after the battle.” Ren’s hands clenched into fists at his side.
“Because the Knights didn’t work that way,” he said. “Injuries, weakness, were destroyed.” He fought the urge to punch the tank, instead placing a hand on it. “Damn it, she should have known better.” He exhaled through his teeth, closing his eyes. “You three should leave. You have things to do today.”
“Are you sure?” Rey asked.
“Yeah,” Ren said, opening his eyes and looking into the tank. “She isn’t going anywhere.
————
He took to watching Ursa regularly after that, waiting for some sign that she had recovered, that she was better. Even when the doctors weren’t there, he would watch her, waiting.
He had dozed off in his chair, late one night, when a tremor through the Force, and the beep of a machine, told him something was wrong. He startled awake and saw that Ursa was flat-lining.
“Ursa!” The chair fell back with a clatter as he surged to his feet, his heart lodged in his throat.
Ren stared at the tank, frozen for what felt like forever, though he knew it could have only been a few seconds. The EmDee droids were struck by no such emotional response and whirled into motion. It was one of the older models, the navigation system not as precise bumping into Ren that broke him out of his shocked state.
“Paging CMO Kalonia.” One chirped, digits tapping along intently at the settings of the bacta tank. “Prep for extraction.”
“Extraction?” The word was hoarse, rough out of his throat. “What can I do?”
“Please step aside, Ren.” Another droid pushed him, not unkindly, as a small response crew pushed a gurney towards the now draining tank.
“Subject’s gone into septic shock—start administering chest compressions.”
It was like something out of a horror show, and Ren didn’t know what to do. Fear gripped him tight, squeezing his chest until he felt his ribs might crack from it. For all their jokes, and empty threats, seeing Ursa like this… it was hell. She was his friend, and he was struck by the sudden, chilling thought that he could lose her.
Kalonia sprinted towards them, still wearing her pajamas but projecting an aura of calm. Urgent, yes, but with the assured clarity that came with decades in the medical field.
“Get her prepped for fluids, we need to get her heart going and her blood pressure back up.” She snapped the order, rolling her sleeves up and grabbing a pair of gloves.
Ren watched them crowd around the gurney with a sort of hopelessness, feeling Ursa grow faint in the Force—the Force!
“Wait! Maybe I can heal her!” The words came out in a rush, and they sounded so small in the hectic space that he thought for a moment that nobody had heard him.
Just as he opened his mouth to repeat them, Kalonia turned to look at him. “Ren. Come here then.”
Room was made for him, right at her side, and Ren reached out to find some sort of contact that wouldn’t interrupt the chaos of the medical team. He found it on her shoulder, the skin clammy and sticky from the residual bacta—all of Ursa actually looked kind of gross due to the residual bacta, sort of slimy, and when the emergency was over, he would tell her that she looked like a slug.
“What do I need to do?” He asked, dark eyes wide and wet.
“Get her heart beating.” Kalonia answered. “Anything beyond that… if you can fight the infection in her blood somehow?”
Ren focused on the Force, letting itguide him. Ursa felt sickly, dirty and weak in the Force, her signature unnaturally quiet. But not gone, not yet, which meant there was still hope.  Once, a very long time ago when he’d been young, he’d learned CPR. Before he realized that he could use the Force to heal, though he’d never had to use it to restart someone’s heart. The opposite…
Well, it was sort of like going in reverse then, wasn’t it?
It felt like… it felt like squeezing, through the Force, sort of foreign because it wasn’t the same as healing a broken bone, or closing a laceration. This was a different sort of healing altogether, one that he didn’t really have experience with. But this was Ursa, and he wasn’t going to lose her, not if he could help it.
“Come on, asshole.” He gritted. “Can’t believe you’re going to let an infection be the thing that kills you.”
Ren couldn’t say how long he stood there working on her before he heard the first soft beep on the heart monitor, followed by another, and another. It couldn’t have been very long, he didn’t think, but it was far longer than he would like. Then again, he would like to not have his friend flatline due to a severe reaction to a very preventable issue.
But then there was the issue of the infection, blood poisoning, and it was a lot that he didn’t think he could just heal it but. But what he could do was help even the odds, give some of his own energy to bolster her immune system. That was more familiar, an energy transfer like this, even though the results were different from what he was used to.
Still, circumstances withstanding…
“She’s stabilizing.” Kalonia breathed a sigh of relief. “Good. Good. I want her moved to a private area, monitored every thirty minutes. If she shows no changes for the worse for the next little while, then we’ll drop her down to every hour.”
And they were off again, until it was just Ren and Kalonia, looking alone and somewhat out of place. “She’ll be okay?”
“I think so.” Kalonia answered after a thoughtful moment. “Whatever you did, with the Force, it saved her life, no doubt about it. The first two hours are the most vulnerable, but if she doesn’t code again I think she’ll pull through.”
That was. Ren let out a breath of relief, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders.
She would make it.
————
“Ursa, you almost died!” Ursa slept for another day before waking, enough time to be cleaned up and moved to more comfortable accommodations.
The moment she’d been awake enough to understand what he was saying, Ren had laid into her about the proper protocol for being injured in the field. They weren’t in the Knights anymore, getting tagged by the enemy wasn’t an experience to keep quiet. He could understand why she felt it necessary, but things were different now and they couldn’t afford to lose her in this fight.
Of course, the moment they’d heard she was awake the others had come bearing gifts and stories.
“According to Kalonia you did die for a second there. Your heart stopped until Ren could restart it.” Poe shook his head, reaching over to steal a few crisps.
It was a testament to her state that he didn’t lose a hand in the process. Instead Ursa turned a shocked, questioning look to Ren, who was back in his chair.
“Yeah, well.” He shrugged. “It was nothing, don’t mention it.”
It was something, but she understood the meaning behind it. It wasn’t something that anyone needed to make a big deal out of, not something he wanted anyone to make a big deal out of.
“I, uh, kriff I didn’t think it had gotten that bad.” Ursa shook her head.
“Bad enough to need a bacta tank.” Rey frowned sternly, not even trying to hide her worry.
“Not to be that guy,” Ren snorted, fixing Ursa with a teasing look. “But if you could avoid being emergency evac’d from a bacta tank in front of me again it’d be great. It was like a wampa with a runny nose. You were a Slime Monster.”
It was a testament to the fact that she was making a good recovery that she threw an ice cube at his head.

Weakness || Bucky Barnes Imagine || Pt. 4
Tumblr media
Note: Here we go! This part is mostly a short fluffy moment. Reader being there for Bucky when he talks to Yori, and supporting him when he admits he will always be missing a key person in his amends. Next part will probably be more fluff, domestic and carefree Bucky cause we all know the Wilson's bring out the best in him. I'm thinking of what else to add to it so I want you guys to tell me what you'd like to see in part 4!
Updated: The first posting was all messed up and cut parts for some strange reason so it is now updated correctly!

"This looks so different…" Bucky says as you two walk down the streets of Manhattan. "Steve and I would come to a hot dog stand on that corner after school. I would get him the same order every day" he says as you two walk.
"Wow, the same order" you smirk.
"He felt bad whenever I paid him, it was the cheapest order so he always asked for it no matter how many times I told him he could order something else."
"I have always admired your loyalty to each other" you say. "Never gave up on each other, always had each other's back no matter what."
"There was a time we were all we had left" he says and you could hear the nostalgia in his voice.
"Well, things change now" you bump into him and he chuckles, hands tucked in his jacket pockets. "You are not alone. You got Sam and you got me" you smile at him and he looks at you, smiling back. How much you loved this happy side of him was beyond words.
"I couldn't be more thankful," he says. His hands fall from his pocket and for a moment you see him hesitate after lifting one hand, until he realizes you were on his left side, so he drops it.
"You can do it, you know?" His eyes go wide for a moment, like if you have read his mind.
"Was it that obvious?"
"A little" you giggle and you can see his cheeks flushing. You reach for his gloved hand, but he moves it out of your reach. "Easy steps, remember?" You pause as you look at him. He nods his head before moving his hand to yours and you hold it. "So…" you trail off and get close to him, taking his arm and wrapping it over your shoulder. "This is what you wanted to do, right?" You ask him with a smile.
"Too predictable?" He asks.
"Not at all," you grin. You notice he is almost hovering it, he is touching you alright but not letting it actually drop on your shoulder. "Relax," you say. He let out an air through his nostrils before he rests it completely. The arm wasn't that heavy, or it wasn't to you. You haven't said anything about the Serum still having a slight effect on you although you have slowly felt it leaving your body.
"Thank you, for being so patient," he looks down at you as you two walk down Central Park.
"I told you I'd wait for you, I meant that" you admit. "I'm sure you will get the hang of being around a girl real quick again" you tease.
"I wonder what Steve said to you about me" he chuckles.
"That you got all the girls, even the dates you got for him" you smirk. "A true charmer" you say playfully.
"Jerk" he chuckles. "I didn't even try."
"With those looks? Of course you didn't try. One word and girl's would show you their ankles in one go" you laugh.
"Now I see enough ankles" he looks around and you elbow his side playfully and he pretends to be hurt.
"Don't you dare look other girl's ankles, Barnes" you tease.
"I'll try," he chuckles. "How have you been feeling though?"
"It's...almost gone" you shrug. "I mean, I feel it still but it isn't like the first time."
"I don't like that," he frowns.
"I know. If that stays in my system you won't see me as someone you have to save or help cause I can take care of my own."
"It has never been about that, doll" you duck your head so your hair falls and covers your cheek. The word making your cheeks flush instantly. "I'll still be there to save you, and you don't need saving so it isn't even that. You don't need help. I'm just worried of the toll it could have on you. That was a prototype, we don't know the side effects it could have…" he admits.
"Hopefully none" you bite your lower lip.
"We will figure it out," Buck says as he stops to pull his phone out when it starts ringing. "Sam?" You eye him curiously as he answers.
"Look at those lovebirds, taking a walk through the park like old people" you hear Sam on the other side of the phone. Your eyes look around the green areas, but he was nowhere to be found.
"Considering I'm a hundred and six" Bucky is looking for him too, dropping his arm off your shoulder.
"You dumbasses realize that I can fly, right?" That makes you two look up and you squeak at the sight.
Sam was above you, his wings and uniform were different, more white than the colors that Steve used to wear for his Captain America uniform. It was a sight. He lands perfectly in front of you, wings extended before they get concealed.
"Holy shit, is that what you asked Shuri to do?" You ask Bucky.
"Just a little something," he shrugs.
"Damn, Sam." You laugh as you go around him, his wings coming out scaring you off making him laugh.
"You like it?" He asks.
"I do" you say and squeak again at the shield on his back. "Oh, that's awesome." You say as you poke the shield.
"Thanks, man." Sam says to Bucky with a grin.
"No problem." Bucky says with a nod of his head. "What's up?"
"Karli is going to try to sabotage the votes in the GRC tonight" Sam says.
"If you give me a chance to change to something more comfortable I can be there."
"Alright. Voting starts in an hour. I'll send you the coordinates" he says and the jetpack initiates. "Sorry for ruining your date!" He shouts as he goes up to fly away.
"Right," your lips pressing together and you turn to Bucky. "You are going to change too?"
"Nah, I think I'm good. I'll go with you."
"If you want you can go and meet with Sam. I'll be quick" you shrug. He eyes you and you tilt your head, "I'll be fine, Buck."
"Be fast," he says and pecks your lips before he walks away without a glance back at you. It takes you a second to process that gesture before you start running back to your place.
When you get into the building, Sam, Bucky and Sharon were already inside in their respective places for the mission. Karli was forcing everyone out, which you had to admit, it was quite smart. Then you find yourself in the garage of the building where the armored cars with the Senators were leaving from. "Bucky?"
"I'm here," he says as he comes from your side. "Karli distracted me on the phone." He says as he takes the keys from one of the bikes, tossing it to you before he gets on one of them. "You are coming with me."
"Seriously guys, you had one job," Sharon says from your earpiece.
"You worry about your guy" Bucky says as he accelerates the bike. "Stay behind me." You nod your head before reviving the engine and taking off as instructed.
When you arrive at the meeting point of the Flag Smashers, Bucky turns to you, "You still have that adrenaline rush?" He asks, not stopping his bike.
"I think so!" You shout.
"Get ready!" And with that he hits the break of the bike, sending him forward and he tackles one of the group.
You jump off yours before taking the bike by the handles and flinging it forward to the group, taking down two of them at once. You are quick to run to them and kick one on the side, sending him back a few feet away, the other one comes at you and you avoid their hits for a moment before they take both of your arms. You screech as they try to hold you back but you are quick to kick the back of the knee of one of them, making her lose her grip before you move backwards behind the other person, making them follow you for a moment which gives you the chance to use their weight to your advantage and fling them over you and to the floor with a loud thud.
"Karli!" You shout as you see the group lighting up both trucks. Bucky is quick to try to open one and you go for the other one but to no avail.
"Morgenthau!" Walker's voice echoes and your eyes widened and you look at Bucky.
"How the hell does he keep showing up?!" You ask, but not really expecting an answer.
John is getting beaten by the Flag Smashers and Bucky is quick to save him from one of them, and you get to Karli, kicking her on the side, sending her against a fence. "Don't make us do this, Karli." A member of the group catches you off guard and wraps their arm around your neck, Karli delivers a few punches into your stomach that takes your breath away before punching you in the face. You are let go of and drop to your knees. Yep, the Serum was wearing off. Your vision was blurry, but you see Karli kicking Bucky and you see him sliding to the edge of the construction site before falling, hearing his scream. "Bucky!" You shout and are quick to stand up and run to the edge.
Everything keeps happening in quick blurs. John helps hold back the falling truck you couldn't open, and he manages to almost do it until the group kept going at him making them all fall to where Bucky was. Sam stops the truck from falling and is able to open the doors thanks to Redwing, so you help the Senators before jumping down to where your friends were. Batroc throws smoke grenades and Karli and her crew escape your sight until Sam identifies them and you follow, along with Walker.
Next thing you know, Sam is bringing Karli's body and talking with the senators and you had to lean against one of the trucks to process her death. Of course you didn't know her, but she was just a kid fighting for a very good reason but in the wrong ways. She was just a kid.
The next morning, the sound of a knock on your door woke you up. You lazily stand up, dragging your legs across the floor to your apartment door. Usually you would ask before opening the door, but you were too tired from the fight from last night to even be careful. When you open the door, you find the Sergeant right in front of you. "Hi" he breathes out. "Sorry, I- I didn't mean to wake you up."
"No. It's okay. Um...Come in" you step aside and he walks in. His cerulean eyes look around your apartment while you close the door. "Is everything okay?"
"Uh, yeah. It's just...I want to go visit someone, you know, about what Sam talked to me about...I was wondering if you wanted to come with me. If not it's okay. It's early but-"
"Yeah," you interrupt him and he sighs in relief. "Just let me change real quick before we go" you pat his chest as you walk to your room, leaving him behind you. You pull your shirt over your head, tossing it to the side and grabbing a bra and pulling it on, then throwing a shirt on. You reach for your jeans and step on them in front of the mirror, only to catch Bucky's eyes before they drift away like the gentleman he is.
He takes you in his bike to his destination, your arms wrapped around his waist. This felt too... intimate and your head can't help but wander off at the situation, you have to shake your head when things get heated in that daydreaming you were having. He parks the bike on the street side and turns it off. He was quiet, jaw clenched, eyes showing his concentration.
"Buck?" You call as you step out of the bike, following him. "Are you sure you are ready?" You ask him as you step in front of him.
"Yeah…" he clears his throat and your head tilts to the side.
"I'll be out the door, okay?"
"I don't know where to start…" he admits, looking at the entrance of the building. He was nervous, fidgeting with his own fingers, his voice slightly trembling.
"You will when it comes to it" you nod your head. You take his vibranium hand in yours and give it a reassuring squeeze. "Just one more name and you will be free, Bucky." A smile goes up your lips and his head nods.
"I know... It's just...he trusted me from day one. Telling him this about his son after so long…"
"I'm sure Yori will understand, not right away, but he will" he returns the squeeze of your hand before letting go. He walks inside and you follow him closely. He hesitates in front of the door before knocking. You lean against the wall, he looks back at you and you nod your head before his eyes return to the door as it opens.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Yori asks as he looks at James. "It's early, come in before someone calls the cops" the man says before he catches your form a few feet away. "Is she with you?" He asks.
"Uh, yeah, but don't worry about her…" Bucky waves off. You nod your head to the man with a smile before Bucky walks in and the door closes.
You wait patiently outside, your head resting against the wall and closing your eyes. Not even twenty minutes go by until you hear the door opening and Bucky walking out, shutting the door close behind him. You could see he was on the verge of tearing up, the tip of his nose red, his shoulders hunched and his head hanging low. "Bucky," you call quietly and he looks at you. He walks up to you and you wrap your arms around him. "Hey, it's okay. It's okay…" you coo as he holds you close to him, the few tears he let out wetting your shirt. "You gave him closure, Bucky. You gave yourself closure. You did the right thing…"
"He won't forgive what I did. What I did to his son…" his voice was shaking and it broke your heart into a million pieces.
"He won't forget, but he will understand later that it wasn't really you. I promise" your hand moves to the back of his head, your fingers soothingly moving along his scalp.
After a few seconds, he pulls away before taking his book out of his jacket pocket, taking out a pencil as well and scratching the name off his book. He stares at the book for a moment, looking at all the names he has crossed. Your hands place on top of his and you press your lips against the back of his palms, he looks down at you and nods his head before sighing and putting the book back on his pocket. "I need to do one more stop…"
After taking the bag with the book and an envelope with Bucky's gratitude. He takes you back to your place. You don't remove your arms from around his waist until after he turns the bike off. "Feeling better?" You ask, your chin resting on his shoulder blade.
"I do," he says with a nod of his head.
"Come on," you say and pat his back before stepping out of the bike and walking to your apartment. He is quiet as he walks with you and comes through the door, sitting on your couch. "We have to drink for today" you say as you walk to your fridge and pull two beers out, tossing one to him which he is quick to catch with his vibranium arm. "For closures, for partners, and for the beginning of something new" you say with a smile as you sit beside him.
"Cheers to that" he raises his beer before the two bottles make a crystal sound as they bump into each other. He takes a sip from his drink and stares at the bottle afterwards, his mind somewhere else.
"Steve would be proud, you know?" The mention of his best friend's name makes his eyes light up. "I know I am" you say as you take a swig.
"I thought I would never be able to finish that list," he says. "There's still one person I couldn't even apologize for what I did back then. I know they hated me for it but-"
"You are talking about Tony?" His head nods. "He never brought it up after what happened" you say. "Tony felt betrayed, Steve kept that from him, never mentioned it. That alone and the accords complicated things to a different level."
"That was a horrible moment…"
"Tell me about it" you say and take a sip of your beer, so does he. "I had to step out, I couldn't fight Tony, I couldn't fight Steve or you. The best thing I did was to stay out of it. I couldn't have forgiven myself if I fought any of you…" you say. "Tony wouldn't have admitted it...but I know he knew it wasn't something you could've controlled."
"Even then, I never got a chance to say something about it…" he says as he fidgets with the bottle. His cheekbones doing that thing you couldn't describe but you found attractive…
"I'm sure he understood in the long run…" you assure him. Bucky was looking at the floor, lost in thought.
"Hey, no. Let's not ruin the good moment we were having" you whine as you lean against him and he let out a soft chuckle. "We have to celebrate later with Sam. He is officially out there as Captain America," you raise your bottle and grin.
"True" you can see how proud Bucky was of Sam by the smile that appeared on his lips. "I'm glad he took the shield back."
"I'm sure he is too, and he will do a great job. He already did with that speech." There is a moment of silence. "I'll go get another one, you want one too?" You ask him noticing his beer was about to be empty.
"Uh, yeah, sure" he lifts it up.
You walk towards the kitchen and open the fridge, pulling two beers. "I have to restock-" you say as you turn around only to be met by Bucky's body a few inches away. His gaze was soft as he looked down at you. You could feel his hot breath close to you, and you were sure he could hear the fast beating of your heart. His tongue runs along his lips, and you can't help but bite on your lower lip as you look up into his eyes. "Bucky-"
"I just...want to try something…" his vibranium takes the beers from your hands and sets them aside, then resting it against the fridge, caging you, but where in any other situation you would've been defensive, you were calm because this was all Bucky, not the Winter Soldier. His other hand moves to the side of your neck, his fingers resting on the nape of it, moving ever so slowly. You can feel your cheeks flushing, your breath hitching as he leans in, his lips pressing against yours slowly. Three times you two have kissed, three times he has kissed you differently and three times you have felt different.
The first kiss was an impulse of yours, very out of place, but he kissed back anyway, even if it was a liplock kind of kiss. You felt guilty about it, you felt like you took advantage of the situation and you two had a small argument about how you shouldn't apologize for it. The second back at Sam's house which he initiated. It lasted somewhat longer than the first one, it was something that happened with the moment because you were talking about your status. Now this, which you wanted to kiss him as much as he wanted to try that something. You melted into the kiss, trying to mold your body against his. Your hands rest on both sides of his hip ever so lightly, your lips moving slowly against his, his tongue brushing your upper lip. Your head tilts, deciding to test the waters by deepening the kiss, and you were glad when he didn't pull away like the first time.
His body presses closer to yours and your fingers curl around his shirt, unconsciously pulling him closer. Your teeth graze his lips and he hums, and gosh you would lie if that didn't awaken something in you. He pulls away slightly, and you take the chance to get your breathing in check, your eyes open slowly while his remain close for a few more opens until his eyelids lift. "You good?" You ask under your breath and he nods, noticing he was short of breath as well. One of your hands let go of his shirt, moving up his side and wrapping around his neck, the one on your neck moves to your waist, holding you close to him but he leaves against the fridge his metal arm.
His lips connect with yours again, this time isn't slow, it's more urgent and you can't help but give into it. You bring him closer, if possible, as you tilt your head to deepen the kiss. Your tongue trails his lower lip, and he grants the access, a soft moan escaping your lips as his own intertwine with yours. His finger traces your skin where your shirt rolled a bit and you shiver under his touch at the contact of his hand touching a part of skin he hadn't touched before.
Then your phone goes off and you break the kiss, your forehead resting against his as you pant, so does Bucky. "I-"
"Yeah. It could be urgent…" he clears his throat and drops his left hand from the fridge and the one on your back. You look at his lips one last time, catching your breath before walking to the table and picking up your phone.
"Hey, Sam" you say as you look at Bucky who slowly turns to face you.
"Hey, kiddo. Just wanted to invite you and Barnes to a cookout my family will have tomorrow."
"Oh, uh" you look at Bucky who shrugs. "Sure, I'll let him know."
"He already knows, huh?" Sam chuckles.
"Shut up, Sam," you say playfully.
"Well, be safe. Have fun. Not too much fun though" Sam chuckles.
"Weren't you the one to tell us to take baby steps?"
"Depends on how big the baby already is."
"Sam!"
"I'll see you two tomorrow! Bye now!" And he hangs up.
You stare at the phone in your hand before sighing. "Cookout tomorrow?" You offer the man an apologetic smile, tapping your phone against your palm.
"Would be nice to go back," Bucky shrugs, leaning against the kitchen counter. "I go if you go."
"Only if you want to" you walk to the counter, standing on the other side of it so it was the only thing between you two. "We can take the first flight tomorrow. I can go and pick you up," you shrug. Then you have that idea… "Or you-" you stop yourself. Nope. Too straightforward. "Nevermind."
"What were you going to say?" His head tilts, eyeing you curiously.
"Oh, nothing" you put your phone down on the counter and scroll through the airline app looking for a flight. "There is a flight tomorrow at 5am. We can get there early to spend some good time there." Best attempt to change the subject, but when you look up, Bucky is eyeing you. "Oh, no. I'm not gonna talk."
His lips purse and he walks around the counter and you curse under your breath. "Would it be that bad?"
"Terrible actually," you swallow harshly as he stands in front of you, his arms crossing against his chest making his biceps bulge out. Why was he like this? His head nods in agreement, but he has that face that you know he won't let go of it until you speak up. You sigh. "Fine," you pause. "Can I walk you through a hypothetical?"
"Using my words. This sounds promising" he says, and you see that playful smile on his lips which purse as he waits for the answer. No matter how many times he smiled, you were glad about two things. One, that he was now falling to the Bucky he once was, he was getting his personality back. Two, that his smiles were around you, that you in a way have helped him. Yes, there was still a long way to go because he still hesitates about some things, but it was okay. Every new thing he tried you took it as a huge step.
"So, what if, hypothetically, you…" you trail off, "you stayed the night and we go to the airport." His gaze softens, and you see he is thinking of your words. "Hypothetically, okay? Like, just an idea. That way we just go straight to the airport." You can't help but chew on the inside of your cheek nervously.
"That's- I would- I would like that" he was stammering. "But, um...I don't want to make you feel-"
"If you say uncomfortable after you kissed me not more than five minutes ago I'm gonna kick your ass" you say and he smirks, but he remains somewhat serious. "You can sleep on the couch" you were regretting this. The more you say, the more you felt you were screwing it up. "I mean, if you want, Buck. It was a random suggestion." You wave off and turn around to continue looking for the flights.
"Hey" Bucky calls and you continue on your phone. His hand rests on your back before it reaches your waist and turns you around, you avoid his gaze but he bends down a little to meet it. "I would like nothing more than to stay with you, doll" he starts. "But I- I don't trust myself enough to stay around you while the nightmares are still there. I don't want to hurt you."
"Bucky," your hand rests on his cheek, his stubble poking the inside of your palm, feeling his warmth. "I trust you." He leans against your hand and kisses the inside of it, sending warmth all over your body. His cerulean eyes were looking at you with such affection that was making you weak. "I know the Winter Soldier is gone. It's just a matter of time that the nightmares will stop, when you feel more at ease."
"I know, doll" he nods his head and you smile softly at him. He pulls you closer to him, leaning in and kissing your forehead. Lips lingering there for a moment. "I'll go get my things. Text me which flight you choose" he says as he pulls away, letting go of your body before walking out the door.
You felt like this trip could help him. There was nothing to be worried about. No Zemo. No Karli. No Flag Smashers. He could now be at ease and sort his thoughts out now that he has finished his book. This could be the perfect getaway if things planned out right.

Toby - Rap God
Guys I was making myself laugh when I wrote this - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Based entirely on one line from this.
2019
There are many engines on the Island of Sodor, and like many people, music is often part of their lives.
Some engines, like Percy and Duck, have no interest in the subject, having never been exposed to it in a real manner.
Others, like Gordon and Henry, have extremely well-defined music tastes. (Unfortunately for those around them, they do not like the same music, and arguments often ensue.)
James, being extremely vain, enjoys the songs written about him for the children's television show based on the writings of The Thin Clergyman.
And then there’s Toby...
-----------
Toby is a small brown steam tram. He has spent almost all of his life on Sodor on Thomas' branch line, where he and his coach Henrietta trundle up and down the valley at the top of the line - providing a valuable commuter service from the branch line terminus to the stone mines at Anopha.
Toby likes music, as does Henrietta; they like it so much that in 1989 the workmen installed a radio in Henrietta so that the two could listen to music on it as they worked.
This was very thoughtful gift, but there was a small problem:
The hills outside of the quarry meant that many radio stations couldn't reach the small antenna on Henrietta's roof.
Fortunately, a few did, mostly overpowered stations on the Isle of Man. These stations were designed to reach boats far out at sea, and mainly played uninteresting things like the Shipping Forecast.
There was, however, one station that did come come through loud and clear no matter where you were...
---
You're listening to ManxPirate - the Barely-Seaworthy voice of the Sudrian Sea. I’m your sea-going Deejay - or Sea-Jay - Musik Mike! Up next is our most popular block of the day - that’s right, the JAMS are LOUD and we're all gonna get DEF!
"Oh Henrietta! It's starting!"
"Just be ready on the choruses Toby"
------------------
The sounds of music echoed off of the Els river valley as Toby and Henrietta trundled towards Elsbridge.
Aside from their Quarry duties, Toby and Henrietta also worked 'the school bus', a daily train that carried schoolchildren from the remote farmhouses between Elsbridge and Hackenbeck to the Saint Pedroc's school in Elsbridge.
Toby loved this route - many of the children had been taking 'the bus' since Grade 1, and he felt privileged to have seen them grow up into fine young adults.
-
As he pulled into the platform at Elsbridge station, he saw those young adults crowded around each other.
'"Peep Peep! Let's go, everyone!" he called to the teens.
"Just a minute Tobes!" Called back Sera, one of the teenagers, before she turned back to her friends, who were filming her with their 'smart-phones'.
"Whatever could they be doing?" He asked Henrietta as Sera and her friend Phoebe bounced up and down in unison while waving their arms around.
"Undoubtedly something for the internet," the coach mused. "But I have no idea what - trends change so fast now".
"Internet?" Toby was puzzled. "Don't they need a computer for that?"
"Toby. Smartphones have been around for over ten years. How do you not know about this?"
"I'm sorry that I'm not as technologically advanced as you - but at least I know what steam is!"
"Oh my goodness, it's also a video game company now. You've heard those jokes before!"
Toby and Henrietta likely would have gone on like that until the guard blew his whistle, but Phoebe broke away from the group of teens, her phone in her hand.
"Toby?" She asked, clearly trying not laugh. "Do you know what Vossi Bop is?"
Toby was taken aback. "Of course I do. Vossi Bop isn't my favourite, but that's just because I don't like Stormzy that much - I'm not one for Grime."
Phoebe blinked like she'd been poleaxed. "What?"
"It's a Stormzy song, isn't it?"
"Toby," Henrietta sighed. "She was asking because she thought you didn't know. Was this going to be some kind of thing where you show rap music to the elderly and laugh at them being shocked?" She asked Phoebe, who nodded slowly.
"Well, you're going to have to better than that young lady," The coach smirked. "We've been listening to ManxPirate since before you were born!"
"Really?" The blonde asked slowly.
"Oh yes!" Henrietta boasted. "Eazy-E was still alive when we first tuned in!"
"Oh, em, gee!" The girl said, before turning and shouting down the platform. "Guys! They do know!"
-
The excited teenagers crowded around Toby and Henrietta as they quizzed the tram on rap music. Any thought of leaving on time was totally forgotten about as Toby's extensive knowledge of gangsta rap was laid out for them.
"Mate, mate," said John, one of the boys. "You gotta do The Challenge if you know all this!"
"What challenge?" Toby asked.
The teens clamored over each other, before they all stopped to let someone speak intelligibly.
Rachel Kyndley eventually spoke up: "It's a thing that ManxPirate is doing on TikTok. You sing along to a rap song and whoever does it the best gets to record a charity single with Stormzy!"
The teens again spoke over each other, all claiming that Toby and Henrietta should sing for the challenge.
Toby had to blow his whistle to calm them down. "I suppose there's nothing to lose by it," He said after a moment. "But I should say that my flow isn’t that good."
"Mate, I am amazed that you know what that means,” Said John. “But you just need to sing along to somethin’ that’s already out there.”
“Oh.” Toby looked back at Henrietta. “Well that shouldn’t be too hard. Do you have any N.W.A we could sing along to?”
As he had the only ‘eye-phone pro’, Simon the student newspaper editor was volunteered as cameraperson, while Rachel set a small ‘blue tooth speaker’ on Toby’s bufferbeam so that he could hear the music.
The remaining teenagers pulled out their phones as well - whatever happened next was going to be un-fucking-believable.
-
The music began with record scratching. The kids looked at each other in shock. There was no way that Rachel had picked this.
"Right about now NWA court is in full effect” Henrietta sang.
Rachel had. The teens could barely contain themselves.
“Judge Dre presiding in the case of NWA versus the police department.
Prosecuting attourneys are MC Ren, Ice Cube and Eazy motherfuckin' E”
Hearing Henrietta say ‘fuck’, was an astonishing experience for the unprepared teenagers.
“Order, order, order, Ice Cube take the motherfuckin' stand
Do you swear to tell the truth the whole truth
And nothin' but the truth so help your black ass?”
“You goddamn right” Toby responded. Rachel Kyndley barely could hold back a shout of astonishment. I hope there’s no book written about this! She thought.
“Well, won't you tell everybody what the fuck you gotta say?"
Then there was a record scratching sound.
The teens knew what came next. They hoped that they were prepared to hear this song come out of Toby.
"Fuck the police comin' straight from the underground!"
Toby and Henrietta not only sang this lyric, they sang it in harmony.
The teenagers thought that they had been prepared.
They were not prepared.
Most of the next few verses were lost underneath the clamor of twelve teenagers losing their goddamn minds.

A few days later
Toby was resting in his shed when a little car came tearing into the station parking lot. More girls than should have been possible to fit in it came tumbling out and made a beeline for his shed, Rachel Kyndley in the lead.
“Toby! Toby! Toby! You won! You won!” She shouted as she skidded over the gravel.
“Won what?”
“The Contest!” She shrieked. “Your video went viral and you won The Contest! Stormzy said on Instagram that he was excited to meet you!”
She and her friends dissolved into happy squealing, preventing any further speech.
“What’s Instagram?” Toby asked Henrietta.

The Next Week
Stephen Hatt was enjoying his tea and tolerating his toast and marmalade, when his son Richard burst into his office, waving his phone around like a sword.
“Were you just not going to tell me that you let Stormzy visit the engines? Or was I just supposed to figure this out when Kieran and Micah tore my ear off for not letting them meet him?!”
“I have a phone, you know. And a receptionist.” Stephen said as he cleaned tea off of his desk. Fortunately, most of it had gone onto the marmalade covered toast, which he unceremoniously dumped into the trash. “And who have I let meet the engines?”
“Stormzy? The rapper? He headlined at Glastonbury last bloody month?”
“I don’t follow.”
“He’s a musician, and you let him record an album with Toby!”
“He recorded music? With Toby? Our Toby?”
“Yes! It was supposed to be a single, but now it’s an album! It hit number one! And it’s been out for three hours!”
“You’re saying this as if I have the slightest idea what you’re talking about.”
“Just read the article!” Richard shoved the phone into his hand. The website for  BBC Sodor and Man was open.

STORMZY DROPS SURPRISE ALBUM WITH SURPRISE COSTARS
ELSBRIDGE - Music fans across the world were surprised this morning when Stormzy unexpectedly announced via Instagram the release of his newest album, Back in Their Day - featuring two of the realest OGs I’ve ever seen.
Residents of Sodor were especially surprised to discover who those “two real OGs” were: Toby and Henrietta, an engine and coach on the Ffarquhar Branch Line.
This unexpected collaboration began several weeks ago when a viral video on TikTok featuring the pair attracted the attention of the rapper...
-
Stephen skimmed the rest of the article, not quite believing what he was reading. “I didn’t authorize any of this.” He said at last.
“Really?” Richard said, not quite believing him. “Because that’s what the staff on the Branch told me too.”
“I swear to you I didn’t do anything.”
“Then what, did the biggest star in the country just go to Ffarquhar and record an album with Toby? With nobody’s permission?”

[TWO YEARS LATER]
--CHANNEL 4 INTERNAL TRANSCRIPT: THE LAST LEG 2021 CHRISTMAS SPECIAL--
ADAM HILLS - So we’ve had a lot of questions, about, the last album you dropped-
[AUDIENCE LAUGHTER]
AH - The one with the train engine -  I think his name is Toby?
STORMZY - And Henrietta. Can’t forget her.
AH - Of course not.
S - What do you wanna know?
[MORE LAUGHTER]
AH - Well, I don’t have any questions - and when I say we, I don’t mean Alex or our viewers -
[PROLONGED LAUGHTER]
AH - I mean Josh.
JOSH WIDDICOMBE - [TO ADAM] You’re an Arse. [To STORMZY] - Um, I just wanted to know how you did it really. Is it, is it true that you snuck in and did it all in one night?
S - Oh yeah! Absolutely. ‘Cause, I thought that it was gonna be a one and done, like just a single y’know? So I just went there and was gonna do it and go. But as we kept talkin’ I realized that, that, I just had to make more, and then it became the album and we shot a music video for ‘scrapp’ on the same night and then I did some sound work  and then it went up.
AH - Just like that?
S - Just like that.

FRUITS BASKET S3 EPISODE 8 RECAP AKA THE KYORU CHRONICLES PART 2 (plus a quick recap of eps 3-7)
aaaaaaAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! I gotta get it out of me otherwise I won't be able to concentrate on work and I will be scrolling through the tag till the day I die. Everything from episode 3 of Season 3 literally hit me like an avalanche - literally cos I marathoned 3-7 over the weekend which I wouldn't advise unless you want an accelerated heartbeat - and I'm starting to realise... maybe I just wasn't ready for season 3. Despite asking for it, haha. Not gonna put as many screencaps for this one cos tumblr editing bay be trippin and I just don't have time nor emotional energy to be fighting with the picture uploads, sorry lol
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Episodes 3 - 7
I spoke before about how (despite my feelings about the characters) the English dub VAs for Akito and Shigure pair up really well audibly. And I think I feel the same way about both Yuki and Machi's English VAs! They both have the same soft spoken yet scratchy element to their voices almost like they are holding slightly back. Although, I'd argue that Yuki has been losing the element of slightly holding back as the anime has gone on which I wonder if the same would be included for Machi's performance?
I really like the presentation of Machi's trauma through her family's expectations to be perfect and how physical it is? How Yuki kind of encourages her to let it out in a healthy way? (Btw the whole chalk breaking scene in the meeting was SO FUCKING SMOOTH. YUKI IS A NERD BUT HE IS SO EFFORTLESSLY COOL A LOT OF THE TIME)
The age gap between Isuzu and Haru for sure isn't the worst age gap in this anime/manga but it's still a bit... hmm...
Episode 4:
Tumblr media
In all seriousness, I know Akito deserves some sympathy but it doesn't change the fact that I still see her as a villain. Hurt people hurt people but it doesn't mean they should get away with it, I was honestly pleased Haru got that big confrontation with Akito to tell her WHAT'S WHAT but it was also somewhat... merciful?
Hiro's growth has been so beautiful to see, him realising there are bigger things than him from the event with Rin to his relationship with Kisa to then the birth of his little sister.
Kureno choosing to get his hands a little dirtier and paying the ultimate price for it (as far as we know so far in the anime lol) was great, he is the moon side of Tohru's sunshine.
Shigure... I still don't really get him and Akito's relationship. It's clear he's waiting for Akito to grow the fuck up but at the same time he's not creating an environment for her to grow and develop. He's decided to go with the 'tough love' route which I'm still deciding whether I like it or not tbh. Sometimes it feels necessary, at other times it feels shitty. I respect that he knows he's a scumbag and I don't deny that there are people out there who take revelry in the fact that they are awful but at the same time, him remaining unchanging despite everything feels... unrealistic. But considering throughout this story he doesn't seem affected by trauma, it's understandable, I guess?
Also... that scene where Shigure ponders about whether he should've been with Tohru is THE creepiest creeper shit he's EVER done in this series. No. 🙅🏾‍♀️
Momiji is best bunny boi regardless of how tall and 'manly' he becomes. 🐰His scene with Akito was so authentically him and he really did that shit. We love him. <3
I love the way that the curse breaking should (on surface) be a happy event considering all the trauma the zodiac went through because of it but it's presented mostly as loss as well as happiness. It's the realness of getting out of a bad relationship
Shigure basically laying it out to Tohru how Kyo means nothing in a very taunting way was an excellently painful scene and I choose violence. It was heartbreaking seeing how worthless they all saw Kyo compared to how Tohru saw him but... by this point I was just living in the pain so 🤷🏾‍♀️
The story visually showing how Isuzu is more willing to be soft after her whole ordeal through her fashion choices (e.g. the pastels, the cardigans) was really nice. And Haru being happy about Isuzu making friends with Tohru was cute!
It was nice we saw that Kazuma was still wary about whether Tohru loved Kyo for the right reasons, you'd assume after everything Kazuma would love Tohru as a match for Kyo but he's so emotionally intelligent and also just a protective Dad! Yay, good parenting!
Tohru's confession to loving Kyo was amazing however I still adore Kyo's confession a little bit more. Just a bit. Lol. However, if you add the moment later in episode 8 it trumps it completely. Ethereal goddess.
Kyo and Tohru's grandfather having a scene together was great and nice
Now that I think about it, I wish there was more a visual link in the story between Tohru adapting her speech to imitate her Dad and Momiji adopting his Mum's German accent. Albeit for slightly different reasons, it just adds to the unique connection Tohru and Momiji have. In short, I'm seeing this ship with my third eye now. I get it lol
I don't wanna screencap the scene where Kyo is haunted by both his deceased mother and deceased Kyoko and potentially deceased Tohru because it's the stuff of nightmares. But, it was a wonderfully done scene. You definitely understand fully and clearly why Kyo buried all of that trauma under his hatred for Yuki (I CAN'T WAIT FOR EPISODE 9, YOU GUISE!)
If Akito is a villain, Ren is the final boss. Although, with her type of villainy... I feel like I can kind of enjoy a bit more. She reminds me of a Greek God in the ways she master manipulates people and her desperation for control and power (I just read 'Mythos' by Stephen Fry, it's a great read lol)
It lowkey feels like every female character who's comfortable in expressing their sexuality in this story is punished in some way for it... this is an incomplete thought
Shigure as a child feeling like they should all be pitied is so... mature... I feel like I need more of an explanation for why Shigure is the way he is
Akito's ego death with Kureno? Amazing. I loved that she was at least aware enough to realise how Kureno had been coddling her all this time but again... doesn't excuse her crimes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But anyways...
EPISODE 8
Honestly? I really don't have much to say about this episode besides 3-5 points I wanna get out of my head. It's not a bad thing at all, it's just that there's still a lot left to play out from this 'arc' and this season in general that I wanna complete my thoughts on.
But I'll start with this:
Tumblr media
Lol, isn't it funny?! Isn't it heart-wrenchingly funny how the relationship between Kyo and Tohru has kinda reverted back to how they were at the start of the series? The coldness of Kyo at the beginning of this episode (and throughout) was a bit of a gut punch considering all the light and fluffy moments that we've gotten between the two since the True Form arc.
Talking about the True Form arc, I feel like this episode is somewhat a repeat of the same emotions, same trials of the True Form arc. Kyo still 'runs away like he always has' but this time we get him being the most honest and confrontational with his own emotions and trauma than he ever has been during the course of this whole story. While trusting someone (Tohru specifically) for the first time with the whole truth of his story! He always seems to move one step forward and then three steps backwards and while it's a tad bit frustrating, it feels very... real. I'll probably complete my feelings how this arc reflects the True Form arc when we finish this section of the story in future episode(s).
Considering the fact that 80% of this episode is Jerry Jewell monologuing as Kyo and I never got bored really just sells his performance. Kyo was being incredibly cold this episode and yet the range of emotions through his performance made it feel understandable enough for you to empathise with it.
Tumblr media
BrattyKid!Kyo to lighten the mood 😹I still wish he and Hiro had more of a relationship, I feel like they could have taught each other a lot. Well... mostly Kyo teaching Hiro tbh
Kyo rejecting Kyoka for her honesty and kindness and then later rejecting Tohru? Oh... kid...
Wow, I felt so good about that whole episode of Kid!Yuki helping Kid!Tohru get home and then it's slightly soured knowing KID!KYO was running about the streets alllll night into the morning?!?! I really did feel Kyo's frustration at not getting that win to actually do something right. And the irony of that being linked to him being unable to save Kyoka from the oncoming car?
Honestly, I don't know what my feelings are on Kyo being unable to save Kyoka. I don't even know what my feelings are on Tohru pretty much pushing that aside in favour of her feelings for Kyo. It's... complicated and I've been mulling it over in my head for the last 10+ years hahah However, if I was in Tohru's position I think I'd eventually come to a point where it feels like it's too late to really do anything about how bad I'd feel about it. Kyo's intentions weren't horrid, if anything he was just being a scared kid and he's allowed to be that. I just wish Tohru had a bit more time to evaluate it but considering she knew her mother well and assumes that wouldn't have been the full scope of what she had said, I don't have much of a problem with it in general
Tumblr media
Lol, I love when Tohru gets a 'FUCK YOU, I LOVE YOU' moment with Kyo. 😂Another reflected scene from the True Form arc... only thing is that this time... it doesn't quite work. 😕
(Again, I love how all of these reflections are resolved in later occurences in response to the duality but I'll get to it next week when it shows hopefully)
Laura Bailey only had a few sentences in this episode but she killed it as always. Comparing her performance in 2001 to now is just... growth!
Ok, so Yuki automatically gets Best Boi in this episode for meddling and chasing after KYO of all people. Showing how he's personally done with hating Kyo. Realising Kyo is pretty much the only person who'll make his mother happy. I think he also lowkey wants to understand Kyo? But, we'll get to that next week.
....Oh yeah, Akito is there.
--------------------------------------------------------------
In total, I liked this episode even though it has me anxious for the next one. We finally get the full picture of why Kyo is the way he is! Ahhhh - a weight off all our chests, I'm sure. I kinda don't like that they put the ending theme at the end of these episodes - the joyfulness doesn't really match up with the intense theme? But, that's just a minor gripe. And hey, maybe they just want the audience to know... it's all gonna be okay :)
See you next week!!!
