Christmas Cookies

It was clear to both Kinn and Porsche that their seven year old twins, Remia and Romeo, could barely contain their excitement as they frosted the Christmas cookies. Remia had gotten very good at her technique - she had a steady hand, like Porsche’s for making drinks, and a gift for drawing, like her grandmother, Nampheung. It translated well in the kitchen when it came to decorating the cakes and cookies they baked for different occasions throughout the year. Their mother, Ishtara, the surrogate who had carried them and lived with them as part of the weird yet wonderful family that Kinn and Porsche had built over the years, was visiting her elderly parents. She would join them together with the Kittisawats, Theerapanyakuls, and assorted friends who had been invited for dinner on Christmas Day.

Romeo, on the other hand, was a different matter and a more desperate case. Although he understood the general principle of frosting and decorating, he missed some of the more important subtleties, the first of which was to actually make sure the frosting made it onto the cookies and not into his mouth.
