List of queer books I read, loved & recommend!
(There isn't any particular order, I wrote these as I remembered them)
Master Of One - Jaida Jones & Dani Bennett (mlm, fantasy, very cool worldbuilding and magic system, funny, cool characters)
Legends & Lattes - Travis Baldree (wlw, fantasy, very soft & chill vibes)
The Priory of the Orange Tree - Samantha Shannon (wlw, high fantasy, cool worldbuilding, kinda reminds me of LOTR but with more dragons and feminism and lesbians)
Even Though I Knew The End - C.L. Polk (wlw, supernatural noir, cool 1930s detective story with angels & demons, I loved this one!)
The Love Interest - Cale Dietrich (mlm, science fiction, very cool concept)
The Darkest Part Of The Forest - Holly Black (side mlm, fantasy, cool fae lore)
The Weight Of The Stars - K. Ancrum (wlw, not quite science fiction but space stuff is involved, lovely and complex characters)
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe - Benjamin Alire Sáenz (mlm, fiction, very nice in general, there is also a sequel)
The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue - Mackenzi Lee (mlm, historical and vaguely fantasy, nice story but I preferred the sequel honestly)
The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy - Mackenzi Lee (wlw, the sequel to the one before, more fantasy elements than the first, asexual main character!!)
Gallant - V.E. Schwab (no romance, but in the background one of the characters(?) uses they/them pronouns, very cool dark fantasy vibe)
Stranger Than Fanfiction - Chris Colfer (gay main character, trans main character, coming-of-age, nice book)
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (yes it's the Love, Simon book, mlm, fiction, pretty nice)
They Both Die At The End - Adam Silvera (mlm, sci-fi ish but mostly fiction, cool ideas, but the ending is sad! Very amazing book though, I haven't read the prequel yet)
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid (wlw, bi main character, historical fiction, cool story, just a neat book in general)
This Is How You Lose The Time War - Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone (wlw, sci-fi, very cool time travel stuff!! and very beautiful, it felt like reading poetry most of the time)
One Last Stop - Casey McQuinston (wlw, background trans & pan & queer characters, sci-fi or fantasy idk, but time travel, I loooved this book, great)
The House In The Cerulean Sea - TJ Klune (mlm, fantasy, THIS BOOK oh my gosh you should read it!!, just cute and lovely and good)
Under The Whispering Door - TJ Klune (mlm, fantasy, this book is also sooo amazing, great character development and awesome relationships and stuff, it's been a while since I read it but it was so good)
In the Lives of Puppets - TJ Klune (mlm, ace main character!!, sci-fi, now THIS is found family, oughh feelings. argh, tj klune you’ve done it again, a human and his family of funky robots… I love them)
And They Lived... - Steven Salvatore (nblm, fiction, about gender identity and learning to love yourself, read it a while ago but it was very nice)
I Wish You All The Best - Mason Deaver (nblm, fiction, about finding your identity and people who care about you, very cute and sweet)
The Song Of Achilles - Madeleine Miller (mlm, historical, very good in general)
Carry On - Rainbow Rowell (mlm, background wlw in the third book, fantasy, it's a trilogy, basically Harry Potter if it was gay and also better)
Silver In The Wood - Emily Tesh (mlm, fantasy, very pretty, lots of fae stuff and lovely descriptions, it has a really good sequel too)
Pretty much anything by Alice Oseman (all cute and lovely and great, though I've only read Radio Silence so far I hear only good things, Solitaire is on my to-read list)
I Kissed Shara Wheeler - Casey McQuinston (wlw, fiction, it's been a while but I liked this book)
The Falling In Love Montage - Ciara Smyth (wlw, fiction, this book was so cute and funny and deeply emotional it made me Feel way too many things, I'd definitely recommend it)
What Big Teeth - Rose Szabo (a bit of queerness all around, fantasy, werewolves and monsters, this one was pretty cool!, lots of original ideas for the world/character building)
His Quiet Agent - Ada Maria Soto (mlm, asexual, fiction, about like spies but this book was so gentle and sweet I wanted to cry in the best way possible)
Some By Virtue Fall - Alexandra Rowland (wlw, historical fiction(?), theatre drama!! rival romance!! duels!!, a very good read in general)
Don’t Want You Like a Best Friend - Emma R. Alban (wlw, historical fiction, I’m not usually one for regency romances, but I really liked this!!, very cute and lots of drama, and there’s a sequel coming out soon!)

In praise of real Men
i hear so much about toxic masculinity and how bad the patriarchy is and how Men are "keeping women down" and it makes me sick. i love Men. i love masculinity. And i never want you to be afraid of who you are or doubt your own strength. Men are awesome and this is my love letter to you all.
Today's society wouldn't even exist without you. So thank you so much for my mobile phone that lets me stay connected with all my friends. Thank you so much for the internet that makes it possible for me to express these feelings right now. Thank you so much for cars and public transport so i don't have to walk everywhere. Thank you so much for the houses you built so that i can live in them. Because all those things wouldn't exist without Men, without our patriarchal society. Men did this. You did this. You built the cornerstones of our world. Men build the houses and girls make them homes.
We work well together like that. So thank you for giving us the opportunity to support you like that. Thank you for all the sacrifices you had to make, thank you for all the hardships you endure. Real men are protectors too. So thank you for keeping us safe. Thank you for upholding the law and thank you for risking your life to fight fires and rescue people from dangerous situations.
The world would be a very different place without masculinity and all the greatness you brought with you. So i am terribly sorry for all that "toxic masculinity" talk. i am sorry for all the feminism that made your life miserable. And i am so sorry for the "blame game" against Men that happens everywhere. i don't want you to be ashamed of your masculinity, of being a man, of not conforming to society views on what a man should do. i want you to be happy in your bodies.
i am sorry there are hardly any good role models on being a Man. i am sorry that there is a lot of body shaming but never any support about male bodies. i am sorry how society shuns you when you are having emotional problems and i am sorry how your motives come into questions so often. i am sorry for how stupid we girls act sometimes and i am sorry we can be such an annoyance to you.
So i wanna say here, you Men are appreciated. Maybe not by everyone, but by us good girls. By the girls who are not afraid of their femininity. Not only did you built this world we are living in, dear Men, you are our world. We love that we can rely on you, that you are holding strong even against the worst storms. You are our safe haven, our strength.
Thank you for being there. Thank you for giving us all these opportunities to make life great. Thank you for providing for us and making us feel special. Thank you for tackling even the most complicated problems and thank you for never running out of solutions. Thank you for your courage to never falter and withstand the hardest of circumstances. Thank you for being Men.
In return, we promise to always love you, honor you, and obey you. To support you in your endeavors and to always have your back. When you come home from a hard days work we will be there giving you the strength to continue. We will take your constructive energy and turn it into beautiful creativity. We will appreciate the things you create and we promise to add beauty to them. We will be there for you when life gets tough and you can be sure to always have a home with us.
i am sorry for the many Men who struggle to find their way in this world because they are no support systems for you. i am sorry for the many Men who struggle with their masculinity because everyone tells them it is toxic behavior. i want you to know that it is not. Be yourself, be who you want to be, and go your way with a head held high. i am sorry for all the setbacks and failures you will encounter but please remember it is not about how often you fail, it is how you deal with it, how you learn from it, and how you push yourself up. i want you to know that it is Ok to struggle sometimes. Just be you. Because you are awesome.
So, dear Men, thank you for everything. i know society can be mean and treat you bad at times, but i want you to know that there are good girls out there that love who you are, that bask in your masculine strength, and that think the world of you. Thank you for being Men.
sincerely, the good girls

I don't know how many people remember this, but 2000s internet feminism was obsessed with trying to rehabilitate the reputation of periods with all kinds of stupid reheated divine feminine, feel connected to your womanhood, all negatives are socially constructed, etc bullshit. 4chan had its fun creating extreme versions of this stuff, but they didn't invent it whole cloth. It was inescapable. Anyway, I'm so glad people have moved on and are no longer trying to convince everyone that periods are awesome. So happy that it's now uncontroversial to say that shit sucks.

hi! i can't quite remember if it was you who wrote it, but do you remember the post that's like "baffled that Wildbow wrote a character who is a teenage girl calling herself Bitch and handled her narrative gracefully. but then he also wrote All That"?
do you have any thoughts on the matter?
hmmm i don't know if i recognize that post. i can't imagine i wrote it it doesn't sound like something id say. like a girl character calling herself bitch doesn't automatically make me sound the misogyny sirens or anything. im also not sure what the All That would be here because wildbow writes women well he just only writes Straight women well because he's homophobic. but now that it's brought up i do feel like a teenage girl character calling herself Bitch could like. so easily go in the milquetoast liberal feminism direction where the author is obsessed with lingering on it as a great act of subversion and the girl herself is in some ways stereotypically bitchy but not particularly unpalatable. and i think the reason it works so well for rachie instead of feeling contrived or otherwise poorly handled is that she is just straight up a deeply unpleasant person to be around in many ways, and this is also elaborated at great length to be a result of her traumas and what is effectively neurodivergency, and she's portrayed as a complex and full person deserving of sympathy and recognition and opportunities. like her being called bitch works for me because 1. she's actually kind of a massive bitch in that her default autism coping mechanism is aggression and mistrust (bites like a cornered beaten dog!!) and 2. this is just how she is as a person (& something which does not negate her humanity) vs something that's trying to make a Statement. just kind of rambling here but yeah i think it's awesome that she's an unpleasant autistic doggirl who insists on going by bitch even when the cops get mad about it

You watch slasher movies? I haven't done so in years (much to my disappointment), got any recommendations, classics, popular, underrated, anything really?
I knew I hadn't watched them in a long time, but it wasn't till I had to try and write something based on classic slashers, that I realized how long its been since I consumed that kind of content.
My only plan so far is that I need to watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Tumblr media
Alright, Pandora, it depends on your tastes, and what you look for in a "slasher" ❤️
As you may remember, I fucking love the OG the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and when I got pretty bad last month emotionally I watched it on repeat for two weeks straight. However, if you go in for a regular slasher film you will be disappointed. The first movie is incredible, focusing on amazing shots and atmosphere for nearly the entire first half. It's less of a slasher as we would come to know the genre, and more of an artistic film centered around the horrors of humanity. The series is a wonderful mess of multiple timelines and little continuity, but the sequels better fit the slasher archetype. The best sequel (imo) is the one directly after the first, and it's a black comedy slasher, focusing more on the kills.
Now, slashers ❤️
If you're a nerd and want to experience the slasher history, then before Halloween (which still holds up) there was Black Christmas, and before that the Town that Dreaded Sundown.
The Town that Dreaded Sundown is based off a true serial killer, and unlike TCM which is loosely inspired by Ed Gein, a lot of the kills (except the trombone scene) are based on actual murders, with his mask accurate to the only real world survivor's testimony of her assault. It's very slow pace, and with how desensitized we are as a society you might find it boring, but if you ever get a phonecall from Ghostface, then you have to know the Town that Dreaded Sundown. Fun fact, his mask also inspired Jason's mask from Friday the 13th part 2!
Black Christmas is awesome! I'd recommend it more than Sundown, because of pacing, characters, acting, and overall atmosphere. I love my second wave feminism horror (Stepford Wives (mwah)), and it did a lot better with it's feminist themes than the loose remake from 2019 that tried to be intentionally feminist (ignore the 2006 remake entirely, so bad, so lame, so gross). It did the first person perspective of the killer nearly four years before Halloween's iconic opening. It introduced the idea of the final girl, but she wouldn't become a sexually repressed younger woman until Halloween solidified the trope. It has some great kills that still hold up, and Billy is iconic. I really feel the only reason why he isn't more well known in non-horror spaces is because he doesn't have a mask or outfit that can be replicated and sold in Spirit.
After that we have our most well known slashers, and they're popular for good reason ❤️
A Nightmare on Elm St, Friday the 13th, and Halloween spawned sequels that spiraled off into varying degrees of madness, but still have fun moments.
After the success of Friday the 13th (and the realization of the franchise-ability of slashers) there were a lot of slashers that tried to capture the money magic of the first few success stories. Not all of them were great, but a few notable slashers imo are My Bloody Valentine and the Dentist.
Although Candyman is often lumped in with slashers, like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the first movie is more than a traditional slasher. I recommend the first one as a beautiful love story about the horrors of American racism. It's score is still incredible, the behind the scenes are so interesting, and Tony Todd is absolutely beautiful. Such an amazing actor. (Not so) Fun fact: Tony Todd said in the behind the scenes that there originally was a romantic scene where Helen proclaimed her love for Candyman, but they were forced to cut it, because "they were okay with a tall, black man covered in bees.. but, mm, when it came to a kiss, or something like that, it was a little bit too risque..." ( :/ )
(Please please please watch Candyman)
Then the best, or worst (depending on your views), thing happened to the genre; Scream.
One of the best slashers there is, it isn't the first self referential, meta horror (see Wes Craven's New Nightmare), but it did change the slasher genre for a very long time. It was a revival for the genre, since it was declining in popularity by the early 90s. However, post Scream horror was very meta. See Chucky's personality changing from the occasional funny quip, to Bride of Chucky levels of silly (still love him tho). Of the terrible horror trying to copy Scream, I'd recommend Urban Legend over I Know What You Did Last Summer. It was a shame, just how silly a lot of scary movies got back then, trying to be as smart and self aware as Scream was.
But my favorite (outside of Scream) meta horror slasher film is Behind the Mask: the Rise of Leslie Vernon ❤️ took meta to a whole new level, mockumentary style, a camera crew follows a wannabe slasher killer explaining how to be a slasher icon.
I've watched too many slashers to remember all of them right now, but if you want really meta black comedies, Tucker and Dale vs Evil isn't a slasher but a loving joke on the genre, and the Final Girls made me laugh and cry like a little bitch.
A lot of slashers since the late 90s have drifted closer to the black comedy sub genre. Killers that kill for the sake of killing are often B-rated blood fests, that can be great for mindless fun but not so great for box office gains, especially in our current horror renaissance. Slashers don't fit in to the current horror culture. Serial killers aren't scary for desensitized audiences, and the mindless gore expectations set by older slasher films have created a pretty specific genre setup and pay off (dumb people who only exist to die get brutally murdered). It either has to be B-rated mindless fun (Laid to Rest 1 and 2 had terrible camera work and directing, making even incredible actors like Lena Headey feel lackluster, but the practical effects are so impressive I'd recommend it just for the blood and guts (and bewbs)), or comedic (the Hatchet series has great cameos, genuine laughs, and more impressive practical effects, but with good cinematography and directing (still bewbs)). Slashers that don't lean in to how ridiculous the concept of slashers are and try to take themselves seriously often end up falling short, either creating boring killers with no personality or trying to force a plot into a generic slasher shaped hole.
This does include most remakes of slasher movies, as a lot of slashers were remade in the early 2000's with less interesting characters to be killed off by the slashers. The remake of Candyman was an exception, because even though it wasn't as good as the original, it did go back to it's non slasher roots, learning from the mistake that was the third Candyman.
TLDR:
Non slashers that are considered slashers because of the slasher sequels/iconic murderers:
the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Candyman
Child's Play
Best Precursor to the genre:
Black Christmas
Popular Classics:
Halloween
Friday the 13th
a Nightmare on Elm St
Pre 90's Slashers that I recommend:
The Dentist
Sleepaway Camp (it's divided on whether it's problematic or interesting representation)
Alice, Sweet Alice
My Bloody Valentine
Post 90's meta commentary/black comedy:
Scream
Behind the Mask: the Rise of Leslie Vernon
Hatchet
The Final Girls
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
There are obviously a lot more, but these are a few off the top of my head ❤️

your rs with your bf sounds awesome but as a radfem I don't know how to overcome the shame of being bi/attracted to men/wanting a rs with a man. how did you?
hi thank you! now, honestly, i do still feel a sense of shame, but im in love, and im not gonna hide a huge part of my life over the fear of being called a Fake Feminist. the biggest thing for me to remember is that.... a lot of feminist 'icons' or whatever were/are het partnered. jk rowling has been married for 23 years and loves her husband, and she's very popular on radblr. andrea dworkin (despite being a polilez) called a man the love of her life. norma mccorvey (jane roe) was bisexual and raised 2 children with a man. chimamanda ngozi adichie has a husband and a daughter with him. a huge part of feminism is helping heterosexual women live life while partnering with men (abortion, divorce, separate bank accounts, etc), considering the fact hetero and hetpartnered women make up the vast majortiy of female humans on this planet. hetero and bi women have done so much for feminism while being partnered with men, it's literally stupid to try and ignore it
there is no shame in being in love. if you have a safe, warm, loving partner that you share views with, and treats you with the utmost respect, there's no reason to have shame. most women on here who shame hetpartnered women are lonely, hateful, and misogynistic. they're not familiar with human relationships, and that is THEIR problem😭 it isn't our responsibility as bisexual women to defend our male partners and explain why we love them and all that. if they don't understand that people who are different can love and respect each other, then they're pretty much a lost cause

analyzing my own fanfiction: reoccurring themes
it’s 1 AM and I can’t sleep so I thought I would do an analysis on reoccurring themes in my fics, and why those themes so often show up.
It wouldn’t be too hard to guess that my favorite relationship to explore in the series is Anya and Loid. Yes, I’ve written more twiyor content overall, but a lot of my fics very specifically focus on their relationship, mostly because I am a HUGE sucker for father daughter storylines. Something about girl dad’s just makes me soooo sad and happy at the same time.
for me, it’s genuinely about seeing my relationship with my own father, and putting a lot of those feelings into the fanfiction. I love my dad, he’s awesome.
for me, I think my favorite thing I’ve ever written with this theme in mind is this exchange in the second-to-last chapter of Clementine
Tumblr media
Loid doesn’t realize that he’s loved Anya since the beginning, and idk but when I wrote this, it just BROKE ME OKAY?
One of my favorite fics that has a central theme that came out of left field was tastes like blood, which ended up being about how sometimes, life forces you to make choices, which doesn’t really make them choices at all. Maya didn’t choose to be a mother, but she did choose to willingly endanger her family. Loid didn’t choose to become a spy, nor did he choose to shoot Elliot, but he did choose to shoot James, completely out of desperation. Idk it was such a good tragedy to me. Rip Maya you would’ve loved feminism.
oh yeah and the religious themes, let’s talk about that.
I was raised in a Christian household. I don’t consider myself Christian (more agnostic than anything) but the hymn featured in the seventh chapter was always my favorite during Easter service. I’ll admit, the idea in Christianity about God’s will and everything wasn’t really in my mind, but retroactively I suppose it fits. I’m no theologian, though I did enjoy biblical history as a kid, so I’m not sure exactly if Christianity is pre-deterministic or whatever (haven’t been to church in nearly two years after I had a mental breakdown) but idk i guess it just kinda works.
another theme in that fic was Mary Cassatt, who was well known for often depicting mothers with their children. I remember my mother (a former art teacher) showing me all the art books with her art that she had, and remarking how often, the women in the paintings didn’t want to be mothers. I then inserted one of the paintings into the fic, thus somehow weaving together a weird storyline about choice.

When i remember Ian's statements on female characters and see how archie/idw handles it's girl cast, it's like they're constantly reminding you "girl characters are lame and annoying unless they're constantly written to be like men and even then they'll still fall short because they're held back by their pathetic and brittle emotions :)" they try so hard to make their girl characters "awesome" it somehow loops back into being oddly sexist
You know, if any other person dismissed and belittled beloved Sonic characters like Ian did, they'd be mauled by the fandom. He lowkey slut shamed Rouge! You'd think that more fans would be outraged that he reduced her to a pair of boobs!
But no. His words were completely forgotten, and the few times they get brought back, they're dismissed because "you're taking him out of context". I don't even know, man.
And sure, he said those words in 2018, he could regret what he said. But 1) fans have a long memory when they want to (*coughcoughbaldymcnosehaircough*), and 2) I don't remember if he ever apologized for those words (I think he said he expressed himself poorly? Don't remember when though), but his writing shows that he still does have a very clear favorite type of girl, and it's the Tangle type of a female character who kicks butt without restraint. It's very funny that even Belle, who under Stanley is the meekest woobiest babygirl ever, suddenly gained a spine when Flynn wrote her (the scene where Starline kidnapped and analyzed her). It's just, it's so blatant, when his female characters are all "stronk girlbosses" in some way, and when he really can't girlbossify them, he either ignores them (Jewel, who I swear is completely superfluous), or... well, just look at Cream :)
Funnily enough, he admitted that he created Tangle because Blaze was too bothersome with her being confined to the Sol Dimension. Now Blaze can hop between dimensions as if she was visiting the neighborhood. That technically makes Tangle useless... unless her new purpose is to be shipped with Whisper :P #feminism
(then again, that's not the only lie in that section. "Dr. Eggman is the main villain. We don't need to introduce some other major villain"? the absolute LMAO)

Offtop from art posting
Yesterday I was reading my fav channel about lesbian and queer relationships (it’s be awesome blogger Sasha Kazantseva, google her). And there was a really good post about how to communicate and understand a person with unusual trans identity. Very educational. But in the comments terfs showed up and somehow find a reason to rage.
One of them posted this familiar long rant, how “gender ideology” is the reason why women oppressed and also “why the f we have to respect anyone’s pronouns/genders!!!” And I noticed how f-ing ridiculous this shit is and the fact they justify it by women’s rights is appalling.
I remember in 2016 I was still empathetic person, though that the most important thing is be your true self and was shocked when read the article about trans women in russia and how they have to survive. I f-ing didn’t know that the “gender ideology” was the root of all evil in the world until I found a very charismatic terf who lured people in her circle with based takes about feminism. Claiming she’s a radical feminist, she wrote really good things and added transphobia, racism and justification of child abuse here and there (yes she said it’s ok for women to beat and torture kids, because women is oppressed class). And I even wasn’t agree with most of her fash crap, but she helped me in awful times in my life, so I was willing to turn a blind eye. And yeah, was introduced to a new target for my rage, scary maniacs in womens clothes, whose only goal is to rape every child and woman in the toilets or locker rooms 🤡
So. Saying gender ideology is the reason of women’s oppression is so fucking funny, like read history books idk?? And if anything women’s rights are more protected in countries where trans rights are recognized. She also added, that trans persons reproduce stereotypes about women and women are hated for being feminine and if women weren’t feminine there would be no reason to hate. There’s a lot to unpack here, but this is so misogynistic. I loved being a girl since childhood, I always thought girls are cooler, and I consider myself a very feminine person even if I look super neutral or even masculine on the surface. 😮‍💨
And. The whining about people wanting to their identities/boundaries etc be respected, putting your “opinion” over people’s well-being is so immature and also fascist. Are you f-ing don’t know about basic human decency and politeness?? Try to learn how to live in civilized society maybe?? No one f-ing ask your shitty opinion about anyone’s body/face/gender/name/health etc, your shitty opinion have no value on this subjects, keep it to yourself.
And how they reduce even cis women’s for their flat definitions of women or sexuality. I of course share the experience of oppression with many cis women, there’s a lot of common things, and they influenced my life and personality. Yet I am unique human being, I have my own femininity, my own sexuality, my own mind. Seeing how she writes about women as a homogeneous mass and sexuality as a simple matter is so f-ing funny. Sis, I’m a living proof you’re wrong, so is any other person, there’s a whole world outside of your head of you didn’t knew.
Tl;dr I guess. To any gender critical feminist who fights scary gender ideology and trans people everyday, solution to your problems is to close your socials, put down your phone and go outside. Or play MH Stories 2, or stardew valley. Or meet your friends. And see a therapist. When you remember how to live a life you will save yourself from monsters in your head, amazing right? 😸

Fate's crimes against Layla are as follows:
I am late to the party but Fate the Winx saga fucking sucked ass. The most horrible part, of course, was butchering of Aisha. Aisha was a warrior princess, literal royalty, and our one example of an acting princess in the show. Unlike Bloom, she still has a kingdom to protect and she's willing to die for it, and unlike Stella, she has been groomed for rule and to be a serious monarch since she was a kid. She's self sacrificing, brave, lonely and strong and she's absolutely amazing. Her one flaw serious flaw, in the OG, is the effect of the "girlboss feminism" wave the writers were on when crafting her, passing off several rude interactions with the boys as "awesome" or "cool" when it was in fact just rude as all fuck, but that's not her fault. Other than that? Chef's kiss. Perfect. (the writers were horrible to her by killing Nabu and I don't wanna be dramatic here but the fact that they only killed off black girl's love is sus af, especially with all the white washing that escalated in following seasons) Yeah Fate shat all over that, literally. Suddenly she's not a princess, she's not royalty of any kind, no she's a pleb whose power origin story is wading through literal shit. To add insult to injury, she's now the token black friend who is only there to elevate Bloom, but also, it's the worst example of such a thing I've ever seen?? Like in other shows where the white main has a token bff that's there to solve her problems and be a yeswoman, the token bff at least has SOMETHING going on, the main at least actually LIKES HER. In Fate, Aisha is often confiding in Bloom by either sharing something vulnerable or embarrassing about herself, and Bloom acts like that alone is a bother. Bloom literally acts like Aisha is her maid, not a friend. That brings me to the "Little helper". Aisha is suddenly also a suck up! And this beautiful girl, who used to be royalty in her own right, is now simpering in front of white women of authority and taking white queen's coat like a bloody servant. She's being used as a "little helper" by the headmisters (btw, wtf is that? What fucking school has that? I'd understand if Aisha was like working for the student council or something like that and as such did some paperwork and had access to rooms restricted to ordinary students, but Faragonda (I ain't bothering to check the name in the show rn) is just using her as an unpaid assistant?? What the fuck? The girl is there to study, not to work! Then, BECAUSE of all this, they made Stella, a white girl, call Layla, a black girl, a rat, which so much fucking disgusting and vitriol I couldn't believe it. In which universe was that okay? And Layla never received a single apology for that. I don't remember if Bloom apologized for anything but even if she did, it's not worth shit. Then of course, in season 2 they ruined her and Nabu. In the OG, they didn't fall for each other right away either, but it was romantic. Here, they washed off all the actual chemistry by having her drool at his pecs and the whole "ooga booga they both swim so they go together" like stfu. Oh, and just like with everyone, her clothing was shit. Also, when talking about body rep the show pretended to care about, Aisha could have been the muscular one (like, have her actually look like swimmer instead of throwing in fat shaming "Uuuu if I didn't swim id be massive") but it is good that they didn't bc if they did, they'd have also stripped her of every last ounce of femininity. God forbid we have a muscular girl in a bright skirt and gorgeous hair and pixie bffs. Also, speaking of hair, they could have done so much and atoned for the now deleted scene in the OG where a girl is crying about having an afro. Like, this is magic! Every episode could have had a different hairstyle, some could have had two! Now, I know it is probably not recommended for the actress to have it changed up so often, but some scenes could have been filmed at different parts of the month, some hairstyles could have just minor alteration, and some could have been wigs! Anything!

Thank you, men
i hear so much about toxic masculinity and how bad the patriarchy is and how Men are "keeping women down" and it makes me sick. i love Men. i love masculinity.

I have been looking for someone that wrote for the witcher books as x reader for awhile, who are your favorite characters ( could be game characters to)
Great question, I really like them all. But I think I have some favourite.
Philippa/Filippa Eilhart
Tumblr media
(This is an official visual)
Lord I love her. Badass, lesbian, owl, all the story is literally because of her (I won't spoil for those who haven't read the books). In the games she is perfect, In the books too. I have hopes for the tv show... I wouldn't have choose Cassie Clare (tbf I wanted them to go further in the native theme, because she is so native coded in the games and a bit in the books, and to choose a native american/australian actress), but why not.
Anna Henrietta of Toussaint
Tumblr media
From the books a bit, but more from the games. Blood and Wine is an awesome dlc. Queen step on me. I like her sister a bit too. I love how this story is borderline coded. I wrote a fanfiction of her and a maid (being a higher vampire), but turned it into being a part of my original universe. I really love Toussaint in the game, very southern France alike, it's fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cerys An Craite
Tumblr media
(Artist : Nikivaszi)
Lord, Cerys... I am a whore for this woman. I want to be her property. Ciri x Cerys is so hot btw. She is the reason why I love the Skellig part so much in the witcher 3.
Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzief Godefroy (Regis)
Tumblr media
(Artist : shalizeh)
I don't love him in a romantic way, but he is really cool. I think I prefer him in the books, but I also love him in the game (in which they erased a bit his feminism, pro-lgbt and pro-choice positions and that's why I prefer him in the books). I hope Pedro Pascal will be his actor in the tv show... Same here, I won't spoil, but let's say I relate a lot to his questions about the world.
This man is a greeflag.
Lydia Van Bredevoort
Tumblr media
(The artist isn't written on it, if I remember well it's an official visual but not sure...)
I like this sweetie pie (she is only a sweetie pie in the books... wtf Netflix I don't understand why did you do that). We don't see her a lot but... she is cute.
I love Yennefer too (more in the books than in the game btw, in the game I chose Triss), but I think these five really are my favourite. I really like Ciri. And of course, Geralt is really cool. I love his character, his development, his relationship with Yen and Ciri. Jaskier/Dandelion is cool too... But... eh... He cheated on Anna Henrietta so jail now. You can't cheat on her. She is perfect.

Ok reasons why I like Maureen (this is incomplete list as those reasons are still multiplying)
1. She’s dedicated to her choices. She choose to get into army, it did not go the way she hoped but she still persevered and did her job.
2. She’s protective over people she loves -not only Gale as it’s common misconception. She tried to take bullet for Ida, checks up on girls in Stalag, reacted very strongly to Bucky being hurt, supports Gale and Jack during the worst of their abuse and never once her respect and love for them waivers, she spend her childhood trying to protect her brother
3. She’s an ally! It might feel like nothing know, but we must remember that it’s 1940s. I’m pretty sure it was illegal to engage in (ominous voice) “gay activities”.
4. She makes a conscious effort to change, which we see both in fics and in asks -and that change is permement
5. She’s also a young girl? She’s allowed to make mistakes and fuck up. We judge those characters using modern sensibilities but reality is they are very young people in very trying times -I would say she’s more than alright when you consider that
6. She’s unabashed in her sexuality. It’s so important to me to see character like that, because sexuality is such a significant part of human existence. And this pre second wave of feminism. So many things are still taboo. To be so comfortable in one’s skin and able to enjoy your body (despite being groomed as a child and abused as a woman) is to be a trailblazer really. There is a counter argument to made here that she’s overtly sexual in response to her trauma, but I believe that it’s only partly that. She just enjoys having fun and that includes sex and she’s unapologetic about it (this is also present in pacific version of Maureen-who’s also awesome! Because Maureen’s are incapable of not being awesome)
7. She’s funny. I just like her sense of humour and would probably like to drink with her if she was real. She likes to have fun and be around people and enjoy their company. How can I not like that. She’s the extrovert friend who adopts all the introverts nearby. Her being sociable also means that she easily gain allies from different prisoners -and that’s important in a place with limited resources
8. She’s supportive of her friends -she pushes Gale to include Lu’s engineering skills in his quest for radio, she’s supportive of Jack’s decision to marry Tilly and welcomes her with open arms, she embraces her husband biking hobby
9. She’s competent. Recognises one’s strength and helps to create a semi working community in Stalag by pointing out who would be the best for what
10. She’s also loyal. Once she decides she cares for someone she’s for them despite anything (not saying that she won’t voice her opinion). She was there for Ida’s birth even tho it was fucking traumatic for her, she’s there for her when she tries to take onto military after they close down women’s division, but she also supports Gale in his own journey to process all that horrifying experiences
11. She rejects comfort and money her family provides because she want’s to make something of her own life by signing up for war and later on she rejects them again because of their treatment of her and Gale
12. She a realist. And that’s something I will always appreciate in character. She’s calling things as she sees them and that’s so fucking useful during the war when harebrained optimism can kill
13. This is asks based reason but who cares, she’s a good mom, who tries to raise better people
14. She’s a fucking war hero!
This was such fun to read as an author because it’s like a summary of a very incomplete character and it’s like- woah and yay and wow about how she comes across to one reader with actual instances cited and y’all know how I adore my anon essays; no cap

I'm not going to say anything about the plot of Hit Man. This post is only about explaining how the movie is a celebration of identity politics, cancel culture and sociopathic feminism.
Gary teaches his students about how it can be for the greater good to eliminate problem individuals from the community, which makes him hot in the eyes of his female students. In the case of eliminating Madison's husband, there’s also extra justification in that the husband is supposedly racist, though we never actually see his racism. It also just happens to be in Gary's own interest to polish him off. (Yes, the husband is a dangerous scumbag, but still, the point stands). Gary is also there to encourage his students to believe that it’s possible to transform yourself into a different person, like we've seen him do in changing into Ron. It's clear what kinds of practices the movie endorses. Transform yourself by 'identifying as' something or other, then denounce your opponents/enemies/rivals as problematic or racist and get them cancelled.
Also, when we meet Madison, she's hiring a hit man to kill her husband but she's coming across like someone who’s traumatised and despondent. That doesn’t fit! And every time we see her after this, she's smug and flirtatious. Remember Nicole Kidman in To Die For (1995) manipulating Joaquin Phoenix into killing her husband? The reason why that works is because it’s understood that she is THE BADDIE. I was actually waiting for the plot of Hit Man to turn in that direction. Another interesting movie to compare Hit Man with is The Last Supper (1995), in which a group of liberal student housemates invite various ultra-conservatives to dinner and then murder them. The film knows that they can't get away with this and that they should have to pay the ultimate price themselves.
I'm a big fan of Richard Linklater. Dazed and Confused is awesome, Before Sunrise is beautiful and School of Rock is great fun. So why has he done this?
