Okay so all we know canonically about their wedding is that Ote is conceived here ("o semen, o origin/here you are Maryam [Mary] the god-bearer/calmly, keenly/let's exchange gasping vows"), and it's implied that it was pretty intense based on apparently everyone hoping for it to be over with quickly. Yay violent sex <3 It's also shown in Zoy1 that Zoy grew up alongside Franny to some degree, and loved her before they were married in ways beyond just animalistic lust

As for not really anything canonically but still worth noting, the Japanese title is actually 婚祭

On to headcanons, I think (being a wedding, and a very religiously important on at that) it's important to consider what their religion is about, what it is they see as holy and practice and such. Based on the perspective we get from Zoy, Ito, and Ote, it seems very focused on pleasure and indulging in more base needs and wants. We also see this in Abuse's other works about beastmen, but those aren't related here. They especially seem to focus on sex, violence, and food (esp cannibalism). Considering beastmen seem to have a higher ranking in this religion (as it is presumably a beastmen cult obv), this makes sense with Abuse establishing that beastmen tend to have more animalistic urges than standard humans

Since Zoy's wedding would be not only a standard wedding under this religion, but also a celebration of their religion as a whole with Zoy being the current leader, I think this would be amped up to the nth degree. The title designating it as a festival also implies this was a very large celebration, and probably a decently long one too. We see a lot of flowers in the PV which seem to be religiously important in general, a lot of colors which Abuse also uses as symbolism a lot. I'd assume a lot of food, but that's less relevant for Zoy and Frannie than the random side characters who probably got some yummy BBQ. The conception of Ote sticks out to me though, especially since it seems like this was also considered "vows" and "celebration". They 100% fucked in front of everybody, and nobody gets pregnant after having sex once. I'd imagine it went on for days of just like. Everybody in their little commune hanging out while Zoy's trying to fuck a baby into Frannie for three days straight lmao

Thought for the Day

Agur used confession, rhetorical questions, statements, and prayer to instruct Ithiel and Ucal. The remainder of his instruction was given in the form of proverbs, beginning with today's verse, which warns against accusing a servant to his master. In Agur's time, it was common practice to treat servants inhumanely. Ungodly masters often acted on the word of their social equals, so as not to insult them. If a man's friend or acquaintance accused his servant of wrong, the wicked master often had his servant beaten or even executed. Servants had no rights, even when innocent. Even light punishment brought great hardship. Agur understood that God upholds justice for all of His people, whatever their position, and holds all accountable that needlessly stir up trouble, especially out of pride or spite. It is never good to speak ill of those in lowly positions to their employers or supervisors. Many such people are struggling to make a living. Undue criticism might deprive them of desperately needed jobs or raises. It is wicked to cause others needless suffering because of our own our pride, or because we are impatient or in a bad mood.

Christian employers should protect trusted workers from abuse and never accept unproven accusations against them. Customers often become unnecessarily impatient regarding service or disgruntled about merchandise. Instead of discussing a problem civilly, some customers berate the employee who is trying to help them, then demand to speak to a supervisor to accuse the employee of wrongdoing. In many cases, the supervisor finds his employee is not at fault, but that the customer is guilty of a bad attitude.

God is the creator of all mankind: each life is important to Him, and He is no respecter of men. He looks on peoples' hearts, not their outward appearance or accomplishments. All who are born into God's family through Christ become brothers and sisters in Him. We are to honor each other, as well as all others; regardless of their class, race, position, age, or sex. "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another" (Romans 12:10). We are to especially honor elders at church and widows (1 Timothy 5:1-3,17); our employers and supervisors (or masters: 1 Timothy 6:1-2); our parents (Matthew 19:19), and people in authority (Romans 13:1-7). Above all, we must honor God Himself. One way in which we honor Him is by obeying His Word. "Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen" (1 Timothy 1:17).

Dear heavenly Father, we praise You for all the things You have done for us, but I honor You, for Who You are, my Lord and King. May I always show respect for the whole family of God, as I know that is one way I can honor You. Help me to be sensitive and respectful to all people, no matter what position they hold or religion they walk. Lord, deliver Your people from all prejudice and disrespect for one another. May we obey Your Word that tells us to prefer and honor one another, as brothers and sisters in the Lord and His creator. Dude. That’s such a loaded question I shouldn’t have put that in my bio. Okay so full disclosure this sounds insane BUT i have so many instances of things occurring like its not even coincidences at this point its something else. I believe people born in New Jersey have abilities. Nothing insane like telekinesis or whatever but like theres something going on there. Examples: my grandmother is really good at guessing things and is never wrong, weird coincidences happen to my mother literally almost everyday, i can say things and then they will happen, my brother who was NOT born in NJ and never has any weird shit happen to him is a loser.

Now, i know this sounds absolutely batshit balls to the wall insane BUT. Stay with me. Okay so last summer, after the eu leg of mcrs tour i agonized over whether or not i should buy a ticket and go (for reasons I’m not going to share lol) so i sat back and said okay! nj band! show me a sign! And lo and behold what i see the very next day

Now this is important to me for one specific reason: kermit specifically is like the modem for my weird abilities. I’ve had this one kermit plush for literally as long as i can remember and it’s been with me through everything and somehow it just became important. So obviously i see this and throw my hands up. Weeks pass, the show gets closer and closer, snail (my bestie) is starting to panic, because “what if something goes wrong? What if our tickets don’t work or we can’t get there for some reason or something etc” and I’m like babe. Chill. This is the New Jersey Gay Sex band. You are with Jersey Blood. Everything will go fine, believe in me. But snail is a fucking skeptical bitch so i distracted her by asking what her dream setlist was. i got hers and mine and made them into a playlist.

At the top of her list was house of wolves and at the top of mine was just something new that they hadn’t played yet. We go. They play house of wolves, and my ears ring from how loud snail screams next to me. and. and and and. We got the first smeagles of tour and the live debut of burn bright. Absolutely fucking insane.

The Democratic Party has very slowly seen their grip on Asian, Hispanic and Black voters slipping as of late. There are many nuanced, complex reasons for this. Here’s some fascinating data from Pew Research:

66% of Black Democrats believe sex is immutable and assigned at birth.

62% of Black Americans believe race should NOT be a factor in college admissions.

38% of Black Americans believe police funding should be INCREASED; 38% believe funding should remain as is; only 23% want it decreased.

In 2021, 65% of Black Americans believed that increased attention given to inequality had NOT led to changes for the better for Black Americans.

64% of Black adults feel that the ‘racial reckoning’ and focus on identity has NOT led to positive changes.

Only 29% of Black Democrats identify as ‘liberal’ within the party. (Compared with 55% of Whites.)

Currently, there has been a roughly 11% drop in Black voter support of the Democratic Party, dropping from 90% to 79%.

55% of Black Americans believe Democrats should work hard to find common ground with Republicans, versus only 41% who feel Democrats should proceed with their agenda no matter what.

***All this data seems to make one thing clear: White lefties are turning Black voters off, big time. If white liberals keep being paternalistic and keep ignoring what Black voters actually want, and how these voters think and feel, Dems are going to be in trouble.

Of course what I’m presenting here is only one angle on a complicated story. 63% of Black adults, according to Pew (source #9 below) still feel that racism is a major problem, and 60% feel that police brutality is. And there’s more in this vein. I’m not trying to oversimplify the case or cherry-pick or be one-sided. In general, Black Americans still vastly favor the Democratic Party broadly (though they’re generally more moderate).

I’m simply pointing out that this demographic seems to clearly *not* like the direction the Democratic Party is moving. We should pay attention to this.

Sci-Fi Saturday: Island of Lost Souls

Rationale for Inclusion:

Since antiquity humans have been telling stories about humans becoming animals, animals becoming humans, and human-animal hybrids. As humans moved from superstition and religion into scientific methodology for understanding the world around them, it follows that this obsession would inspire science fiction narratives.

In 1896, author H.G. Wells combined contemporary discourses around Darwinian evolution, Galtonian eugenics, and the anti-vivisection movement with a shipwreck narrative and published The Island of Dr. Moreau. All subsequent science fiction narratives that have involved the creation of animal-human hybrids through surgery or other technological means derive at least some of their inspiration from this book.

The novel was adapted into a silent film twice (once in France, once in Germany) before a sound adaptation was produced in Hollywood by Paramount Studios, Island of Lost Souls (Dir. Erle C. Kenton, 1932, USA). As with Frankenstein (Dir. James Whale, 1931, USA) and Doctor X (Dir. Michael Curtiz, 1932, USA), this film is part of the cycle of Pre-Code horror films produced in the wake of the popularity of Dracula (Dir. Todd Browning, 1931, USA). It also marks the first time a work of H.G. Wells is featured on the survey, which at 9 weeks into this series seems late given that he's one of the authors competing for the title of "Father of Science Fiction."

Aside from its place in the overall scientific genre, Island of Lost Souls would have been worth including for no other reason than its dialogue inspiring Devo's 1978 album Q: Are We Not Men? We are Devo!. The Criterion collection disc release even includes an interview with band members Gerald Casale and Mark Mothersbaugh talking about how the film inspired them.

Reactions:

Whilst Doctor X was a horror film with science fiction aesthetics, Island of Lost Souls is more science fiction film with horror aesthetics. The beast-men makeup makes Moreau's creations indeed disquieting and monstrous. The uncredited work of Charles Gemora and Wally Westmore lacks the artistry of Jack Pierce, but is nevertheless quality for the era. Dr. Moreau's laboratory in the House of Pain is minimalist compared to the apparatuses seen in the laboratories of Doctors Xavier and Frankenstein, but he is operating further from concentrated civilizations on a South Seas island, and apparently doesn't require as showy equipment.

As an adaptation of The Island of Dr. Moreau it's fairly accurate in terms of core plot and themes. The accuracy diverges due to including a love interest for the protagonist, Edward Parker (Richard Arlen), in his worried, yet resilient fiancee Ruth Thomas (Leila Hyams) and the retooling of the novel's Half-Finished Puma-Woman into Lota, The Panther Woman (Kathleen Burke). As with adaptations of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Hollywood filmmakers felt compelled to include a sexy, dark woman and a pure, wholesome fiancee counterpoint in what had previously been a homosocial narrative of male psychology and interpersonal dynamics. Apparently, the male filmmakers found it necessary to insert a Madonna-whore complex where there was none, or more likely wanted a "whore" and felt obligated to include a "Madonna" for the sake of propriety, and/or to not alienate the female audience as they perceived it and the censors.

However, the male filmmakers were not just interested in adding sex in Island of Lost Souls, but amping up the original novel's violence. Scenes of abuse, torture and surgery without anesthesia directed at the beast-men were all carryovers from the source material, but the grisly fate of Dr. Moreau (Charles Laughton) was unique to this adaptation. In The Island of Dr. Moreau the Half-Finished Puma-Woman and Moreau battle to the death. In Island of Lost Souls the beast-men rebel and get revenge on Moreau, dissecting him with his own surgical tools in the House of Pain.

To my partner and my 2020s eyes the dispatch of Moreau by his creations was shocking and horrific. We noted it was gruesome even by Pre-Code standards. Apparently to its contemporary audiences it went too far, and this scene, as well as others seen as too explicit, resulted in censored versions circulating or the film being outright banned in various countries. Other Pre-Code films, such as Frankenstein and King Kong (Dir. Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, 1933, USA), suffered similar fates, and like them Island of Lost Souls would not be in circulation in their original theatrical cuts until restorations were performed decades later.

Island of Lost Souls offers more than shock value and a Pre-Code case study, however. Karl Struss' moody cinematography and the emphasis on the characters as much as the narrative situation makes for an engaging film. Bela Lugosi's Sayer of the Law, with make-up like a budget Wolfman, may play more as camp these days, but he is absolutely committed to his character. Similarly, Laughton's impish Moreau steals every scene that he is in. For fans of monster or mad scientist movies it's a necessary watch.

media that promises high sexual content (in this context nukige) attempting serious, high stakes plots will all predictably suffer from the same issue of not knowing how to cohesively develop the story aspect and the sex aspect. even a good writer that can integrate sex into plot progression will struggle with transitioning character building moments (casual interaction, isolated contemplation, monologues, etc) and the introduction of plot elements into sex scenes in a way that doesn't break one's immersion in the former two. it's a difficult issue to work around because conventional eroge will have sex scenes as a reward for story progression while with nukige, the upfront sex is the selling point. a character drama mediated by sex will be super easy to work with, but what about a globe spanning cataclysmic chuuni plot that weaves politics, religion, philosophy and multiple factions with competing nonsexual interests into its ever expanding stakes? a strange thing to want to see realized in The Sex Game Genre. it ultimately leaves titles that adopt this approach to storytelling 2 options: having a character go "this huge existential crisis can be solved with my peanus (and you have to take me seriously)", or having a family guy styled cutaway to random people having sex.

the game that the person in that review was writing about was mostly the second, so you would have the writer dumping paragraphs worth of text about eros and agape, the nature of suffering and survival before hitting you with a "Meanwhile..." and cutting to some messy thing. there were actually 2 characters who existed for sex scenes alone, simply so the main cast could continue with the plot (not that the main cast was above being subject to the family guy cutaway treatment, either). the game deeply wants you to acknowledge its story, the trailer for it emphasizes the atmosphere and gritty tone above all else; yet, I can't go "if only there was a realta nua type release where the sexual content was better balanced" because even in all it's larger than lifeness, the story still kind of only survives off of it's smaller character moments. the protagonists relationship in the true route was sweet, the raw feeling of struggle and hopelessness in the last arc are well conveyed, the fight scenes and body horror were actually cool and I was vested in the dilemmas of the side characters. at the same time, the philosophical elements meander meaninglessly quite a bit, the political commentary is trite at best, some characters werent as fleshed out as they should have been and I still am left with questions about major story elements that were just kind of left hanging. the game's thesis re: love is transparently lifted from madoka alongside many, many other elements (who could have seen that coming...), which is less a criticism and more an observation. the only reason I know of this game is because of how hard they amped up and marketed the nonsexual elements (not deceptively though lol it's quite obvious what you were getting into), so I feel bamboozled coming out of it underwhelmed. especially since a lot of it's content isn't stuff I would normally seek out -_-

    ⁃    Two current states of social media ethics are the issues with users privacy settings, fake news/misinformation,and online bullying like people getting canceled.

    ⁃    Two recents cases include facebooks mishandling of users dates and twitter trying to ban political figures like former president Donald Trump from their platform.

2. Brands/professionals with strong social media ethical codes:

   - Best Buy- any race, ethnics, sex, gender, religion, disability comments are not allowed .

    ⁃    Walmart-doesn’t discourage employees from sharing their own opinions whether politics or religion but do it politely.

    ⁃    Ford-ford tells everyone from co-workers to suppliers to competitors to “mind your manners” and treat everyone with respect.

3. Key concepts for personal conduct online:

Respect- be nice to anyone and everyone especially in the online world because once you post or say something it stays forever.

Empathy-  think about how something could affect an individual or anyone in general and think about what they maybe going through.

Privacy-  always keep work life and social media separate. Don’t post about work be mindful of information you share online and think will this hurt or affect someone?

Critical thinking- before posting or sharing something always double check and verify that you have the correct information before you post to avoid spreading false information.

- Integrity: Always be honest and transparent about what you are saying and take responsibility for your actions and words that could affect or offend someone.

4. Concepts to avoid on social media:

Hate speech- don’t say anything that could be offensive such as racial comments, discrimination or anything in a hateful manor.

Trolling-  don’t engage in behavior that can be considered offensive, disrespectful, ignorant.

Misinformation- try and double check or fact check your information before you post to make sure it’s accurate so it doesn’t show misinformation or inaccurate information especially if it’s important.

Cyberbullying- don’t engage or support in any form of online harassment or bullying.

5. Core concepts for practicing social media professionals:

    1.    Be yourself-  I think it’s important for online influencers to be their true and 100% authentic self. It helps fans connect and relate to your connect rather than faking and trying to act perfect it helps gain trust.

    2.    Avoid talking about certain topics- this is a difficult one because on one hand you wanna be honest with your fans but at the same time not everyone agrees with what people say. Depending on your platform try and avoid talking about certain topics such as politics or keep it mutual because if people find out you support certain people like trump you can get canceled, and people are nasty with their comments so be careful about what you say when it comes to certain topics.

    3.    Don’t be problematic or engage in bullying behavior. No one wants to support someone who doesn’t support or uplift others.

    4.    Be active on your media platforms. Always update and post on platforms to make sure all your audiences can watch you and not just on one specific app.

    5.    Engagement- try and engage with your fans it makes them feel heard and seen and makes them feel like you care for them.

    6.    Planning- plan a set time to when you post content so fans can be updated instead of randomly posting it won’t get that much of an audience unless you plan when you post so others can follow.

Well first off I make it a point NOT to mention religion on my blog so I am not sure why you brought a god up.

Secondly, a human fetus is definitionally not a parasite as it is of the same species as it’s parent, develops into an adult human just like the rest of us, and the mother has organs and hormones in place that are SPECIFICALLY for the benefit of nurturing a child.

“Parasite: an organism that lives in or on an organism of another species (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the other's expense.”

From a biological perspective, a fetus is not considered a parasite. While both a fetus and a parasite rely on a “host” for nutrients and support, a fetus is genetically related to the host (the mother) and is a natural part of the reproductive process. It isn’t an invader, it is there cause that’s how biology works.

On a totally different note that contributes to my reasoning behind why abortion is wrong (since ‘don’t kill tiny humans’ obviously isn’t enough, go figure) what people may not realize is that sex trafficking victims are often coerced into abortions by the trafficker so that he or she can continue to make a profit off of them. A ground-breaking study by the Beazley Institute found 66 human-trafficking survivors had a total of 114 abortions — 114 abortions among 66 women. One sex-trafficking survivor described her experience:

“Over the years I had pimps and customers who hit me, punched me, kicked me, beat me, slashed me with a razor. I had forced unprotected sex and got pregnant three times and had two abortions at [a clinic]. Afterward, I was back out on the street again.”

Abortion is profoundly anti-woman as it enables men to use their bodies as sex objects without any reverence for their reproductive capabilities. Men aren’t required to take responsibility for their children, and this reduces women from life-givers, to simply a person to fool around with. The burden of responsibility is ALWAYS on the woman and I find this incredibly problematic. Men’s irresponsibility is the a large part of the reason women find abortions “necessary” in the first place.

The previously quoted survivor of six abortions incurred severe infections from the scar tissue, necessitating a hysterectomy. She could no longer bear children if she wanted. Abortion is, at its best, 100% not safe for at least one unwilling participant. At its worst, these are the possible complications for the most common form of abortion.

* Infection of the uterus

* Torn cervix

* Infection of Fallopian tubes

* Punctured uterus

* Blood clots in the uterus

The figure above shows the age-adjusted relative risk of death in the year following a birth, miscarriage, or abortion compared to the rate of death among women not pregnant. The results are from a multi-year study of all women in Finland, linking death certificates to central registries for pregnancy outcomes. It clearly shows abortion is associated with an elevated risk of death, while carrying to term is associated with a lowered risk of death.

Many people claim that the fetus, though inarguably a human, cannot be considered a person due to its lack of cognitive or physical ability. This begs the question, at what point in does a born human cease to be a considered person based on physical or mental disabilities. Will we kill the born disabled much as we will the preborn disabled? Does someones physical or mental powers really impact their worth as a member of the human species? Is it not enough to be a living human? Do some humans lives truly matter more than others to the point that it is acceptable to violently destroy one for the convenience of the other? If so, what are the acceptable qualifiers and can they be consistently applied to born people with no moral qualm?

India's first openly Gay Man. Founder of Humsafar Trust. Editor of Bombay Dost. Journalist. Lgbt activist. Controversial since times when 'problematic' was not a word in every lay person's mouth.

He's not a perfect activist by today's standard. But his impact on independent India and it's lgbt movement is greater than anyone can possibly compute. He came out publically in 1984. But he'd been in public sphere in even before. He's a journalist, always working in public spheres, used to his opinions being disregarded and hence even more protective of them.

He certainly focuses on Gay men and that too Hindu Gay men. Although he's educated in al lgbt issues and other religions, he actively chooses to focus on Hinduism and gay men when he talks about lgbt in India. He's a 'hindu right wing' activist. But he's not uncritical of their policies either, he considers himself on 'extreme right of RSS' even. However he disregards separate movements made by queer women, Dalits and muslims and is accused of being non inclusive in his speech. He says however that everyone is welcome at Humsafar and 'doesnt care if your cunt is Hindu, Muslim or RSS' which... Bold.

He has made several headways about AIDS epidemic, about education regarding sex-sexuality, safe sex. He has used his extreme hindu stance to fight against section 377, showing that hindu scriptures do not condemn homosexuality as a sin. He has aired controversial opinions about Gandhi back in 90s and alleged that Saif Ali Khan inflicted physical abuse on him because Kavi wrote an article where he pointed out homoerotic subtext of Main Khiladi Tu Anari- a saif ali khan and Akshay humar buddy comedy. He's a walking ammunition for controversy.

But he's a certain lesson in understanding activism in real life.

Let’s chat about this very palpable divine feminine energy.

It’s been in the air for some time now (I first posted about this shift in May, 2020), and it has only been picking up speed since.

When I say “divine feminine” I don’t mean Aphrodite gently rising out of a seashell, demurely covering herself with locks of long, flowing hair… That is pink.

That is white-washed.

That is the male gaze.

No, the divine feminine I refer to is violent. She is sexual. She is dark. She harbors secrets. She is the beginning and the end, life and death, creation as well as destruction. This is the true female gaze; we see all. There are no fat cherubs attending with gauzy fabric strategically draped, this is wolves howling and menstrual blood. This is “you had your chance and you fucked it up, now it’s mommy’s turn to fix it” energy.

Just to be clear, I am not discounting the spirituality of men, nor am I ignoring anyone that does not feel they fall into the binary system. I am simply commenting on the differences between male energy and female energy. I’d also like to add that I find it very interesting that men have such uterine envy it’s comical. Historically, secret societies, cults, religions, etc have all been started by men, run by men and excluded women from central roles within these spiritual groups. The divine feminine is rooted in female power and men have tried desperately to emulate that. We are connected to source, our cycles are in tune with the moon, our bodies are portals for life, and it absolutely kills men that they can’t be us. These spiritual sausage parties for lack of a better phrase are what happens when the unevolved divine masculine runs amok. When these men can’t emulate us, they vilify us, abuse us, and kill us… but I digress.   

The overriding theme here is out with the old, in with the new. This past new moon solar eclipse really had us mourning our old selves (those of us that were able to let that bitch go), or crumbling under the weight of not being able to do so. Wild dreams, karmic repercussions and comeuppance were rampant these past few days and will probably continue for a little while longer.

With Mars in Scorpio and Venus in Capricorn, we are given unique insight about our desires as well as an amped-up sex drive and the impulse to go after what we want. If this is what you’ve been working towards, do not shy away from it now! Embrace it.

yup, it’s due 😄 today i’ll use my favorite oracle cards with indian deities. i always look into this deck for family matters. the hindu gods are great fun, you’ll love these guys.

taehyung: VISHNU: “Involvement”

this card is about letting go and fully immersing yourself. which you bet taehyung is going to do. it’s pretty straightforward and intuitive to me that vishnu with his call to show one’s loyalty came out. taeyhung, and this won’t be news for anyone, be the most dedicated father ever. on the card he is represented by a dignified vishnu who is classically considered the god of the universe; stepping through a vortex of positivity. he has four arms (=four seasons) that carry the progression of the sun, a lotus to symbolize gratitude, a sparkly club to fight demons, and a shell to bring about silence. so, mister vishnu is a hell of a guy and fully equipped to do his job. which is likely going to apply to taehyung quite seamlessly. he will involve himself all year round (the seasons), be protective, wise, understanding, all while giving his family no reason to miss him. the silence shell also tells me he speaks gently with his kid, he never yells. the mood will be elated for the absolute majority of the time.

jimin — NATARAJA: “Choice”

the guy on the card literally looks like jimin, i’m losing my mind. i mean coincidence? nataraja: he’s short, he’s totally muscular, he’s chubby, his lips are big, and he’s straight up gyrating all over the place like a pro lmao! this guy is sizzling as fuck. synchronicity much 😋 will jimin be the hottest dad in town? you bet your wig! either way, i digress. this card indicates a decision, a compromise, something that calls you with an upbeat tune to leave the old things behind decisively. nataraja (who is actually an expression of the god shiva) is the ‘flame dancer/lord of dance’ deity of choice between destruction or creation. jimin is bound to apply major changes to his life when he becomes a dad, it’ll be outside his comfort zone. this kid turns it all upside down. a challenge to amp up his esteem will pop up pretty early. nataraja dances — much like jimin, that is no coincidence either — to rid himself off fear, ego, beating oneself up. i think this is what jimin wants to instill in his kid himself, to be determined in life. i think they can learn from each other in that way.

hoseok — KRISHNA’S RASA-LILA: “Rhythm”

another card that’s squarely about dancing. a rasa-lila is a feast in which people row up in a circle to krishna’s flute play. legend has it krishna attracted sheperdesses to dance to his music and they had so much fun it lasted for half a year like wow. and yeah, gdi this is literally pied piper. because krishna is the god of love and didn’t want to disappoint his guests, he multiplied himself (!) to dance with everybody. hobi will sort of feel that divide as a dad, too. he wants to share his dance and affection with fans so he’d have a hard time focusing on one family instead of the world as his family. he’d definitely want to keep his craftsmanship and popularity. whenever i see this card pop out, something all over the place is going, he could become a patchwork family dad. this home will never be silent nor underpopulated lol! in any case, just like krishna, hoseok will be the most entertaining parent EVER 😄 his kids will forget time with him and music will be present throughout the home. it’s also the card with the most erotic undertones in the reading, hobi’s sex life will be alive and well.

namjoon — GIRISHA: “Belief”

oh… damn. this gave me a very powerful impression. it’s similar to taehyung’s card, a great dignity is conveyed by the imagery. so, in detail: girisha is the majestic god of the himalaya, mount everest is his home. it’s also shown on the card behind girisha. so, if we interpret this, then: rest assured namjoon will move mountains when he becomes a dad, that much we can already be certain of. he’ll take his task very seriously and won’t mess around much. namjoon will do adulting and raising kids the focused way. now, girisha is about belief but it does not mean religion is a factor here. it is more of a conviction that we as humans are wanted and needed as we are, where we are. someone who doubts himself as much as joon is likely encountering that trust in himself once he becomes a father. this is good news! once he believes he can be a good dad, he will be a good and wise dad. small detail i picked up to give a closing thought: girisha is a deity that meditates a tremendous lot, namjoon might pick this up to balance himself. he’ll be into spirituality and teach his kid about principles of the universe and how nature works. who knows, namjoon might be purchasing oracle cards as we speak.

jungkook: NARAYANA: “Your Potential”

(before we get started here: definitely scroll back to crossread taehyung’s interpretation, it’s the same deity, just in a different form.) i get a sense he will be a very imaginative and resourceful father but also someone who knows when to retreat and think things over. i’ll explain what i mean. on this card, our favorite good ole vishnu again appears in his version of a creator god: narayana. it’s a very dreamy kind of deity we’re seeing here. narayana loves to sleep coiled up inside the world snake ananta who allows him to come up with new ideas he can install in the world. jungkook will be in that kind of occasional limbo, too. he figures out many things to expand and improve in the home and his family. i’d compare his fatherhood to how he learns english, that’s pretty much the same principle. we also see a masculine angelic being kneeling before narayana in prayer, it could be jungkook’s son who really admires his father a lot and listens to advice without rebelling against it. maybe it’s because jungkook can get on eye level with his kid without much trouble. last but not least, the literal interpretation: jk will be a cute and sleepy dad. ♡😴

seokjin — GANGA: “Flexibility”

this card is just... super beautiful! as expected when it comes to kim seokjin, who are we kidding, there’s no other option. we see the lotus goddess ganga float on water pretty much completely unbothered. she’s got her best gown on, the sky is blue, everything is in bloom around her. i think this couldn’t be any more perfect to describe jin as a dad. he looks good (while jimin will be the hot dad in bts, jin will be the dazzling one), he does his thing, he goes with the flow. flexibility is a pretty accurate key word i’d apply to him. since ganga is responsible for the holy and peaceful river ganges, she is said to bring about softness, innocence, going past obstacles. jin is going to be veeery chill about his daily life, with no hurry or pressures whatsoever. that transfers to the kid and his partner so heavily, we’ll see a very wholesome and slow-paced family dynamic play out. it’s the sweetest thing. it really nurtures the child. out of all cards i pulled, he’s by far the most lighthearted dad. i was blown away, the card’s message is such a reassuring and promising one. you go jin!

yoongi — GANESHA/NRITYA-GANAPATI: “Vocation”

and here’s the odd one out to round this up in an interesting way. you won’t be surprised, i wasn’t surprised. you probably already suspect where this vocation thing is going. i see what the cards are trying to tell me over and over. yoongi is pretty preoccupied following his higher calling. not obsessively, but steady and stalwart enough. and since he doesn’t half-ass anything and tends to limit himself to one goal, i don’t think he’s gonna abandon his music and consider fatherhood his new vocation. if he does, mind you, he will consider it like a kind of heart’s desire to work on. however, the god that rules this card pretty much gives away what yoongi will be doing in the near future 😅 nritya-ganapati is an embodiment of the most popular writer god: sweet and relaxed ganesha, i’m sure you’ve heard about him. ganesha is a very creative elephant deity who dances through all ill fate and grants healing. it’s obvious to me that yoongi is very much that. writing songs, sorting himself out (!), doing what he does best. vocation is his prized value, he needs something to put out to the world. becoming daddy woongles is probably something he reserved for later in life, job comes first. all slowly but surely, elephants move with deliberation.

what are your headcanons for magnus's backstory? i really enjoy picking apart underdeveloped villains to see what makes them tick and building up backstory that Explains why they do the shit they do and... you seem to also have many thoughts about magnus

ohhh!! yes i have thoughts! :D i still haven’t delved super in-depth into his past but here’s some VERY LONG messy, rambly stuff that’s like partially ideas i’ve had already and partially things i’m pulling right out of my ass (seriously this is long i’m sorry haha)

first big thing is that his dad was a really loving, warm person. just a big tall friendly dude, kind of a free spirit, also a veteran (fought in korea maybe? i think that timing would work out if magnus was born in the early 60s). he died in a motorcycle accident when magnus was like 9 or 10. maybe magnus was on the bike with him but survived, not sure how sad i wanna go here. his mom, who had always struggled with depression, fell into a really dark period and magnus tried to be there for her but he was just a grieving little kid. :( 

he has an older half-sister from his dad’s first marriage, and she was about 17 when he died and then left the family because she couldn’t deal with it (i don’t think magnus really reconnects with her in any significant way until after dethklok kicks him out).

i’m lifting this straight from marc maron but he’s jewish since his mother was jewish. his mom wasn’t religious though (at least when he was younger). about a year or so after his dad’s passing, though, his mom meets a man through her job and ultimately marries him. magnus’ step-dad is just...awful. very strict catholic. very controlling of his mom. the guy has magnus baptized shortly after the marriage. magnus goes through a really intense satanism phase in his teens as a way to rebel (this is also when he gets into metal - it’s the mid-70s so alice cooper and black sabbath are his faves). even as an adult magnus has a weird, complicated relationship with religion. he’d call himself an atheist but he has periods when he’s more of a misotheist and then other periods where he’s, like, afraid of god. it’s all very complicated.

after high school he decides to enlist in the army just like his dad did. he has no fucking idea what to do with himself so he thinks if it worked for his dad, it’ll work for him. wrong haha, he hates it. he picked up smoking and drinking in his teens, but the army amps those vices up to 11 and he starts experimenting with drugs too, mostly acid. surprise surprise, he gets in trouble for buying shit off-base from an undercover cop, and he’s dishonorably discharged. :O

his step-dad doesn’t allow him to come live back home after that, and his mom just defers to him now, so magnus spends a while living out of his truck. it’s a bleak time. he’s in his early 20s. all he’s got is his car and his guitar and a few other possessions. starts busking. for him, it’s humiliating work. spends most of his money on cigarettes and alcohol. somehow he ends up gigging at a local dive bar and gets a job washing dishes in the back. over the next few years he’s in and out of various bands, but he never really saves enough money to get a place. it’s kind of his weird secret, that he’s still living in the truck. he has a few relationships with various people, some bandmates, some fans, one coworker. they only ever last a couple months or so until they get too close and magnus starts itching to be by himself again, even though he’s miserable alone. but that’s preferable to having someone in his space all the time, knowing his business.

it’s during this time, too, that he picks up his heroin habit from a bandmate (that’s why the band dissolved, they all got addicted) but he tells himself he’s got it under control (the mental gymnastics with this man...). eventually he decides he’s done with bands, he’s just gonna play solo since he’s obviously more talented than anyone he could possibly play with. makes a pretty good name for himself, plays some local events, has a few solo albums that do all right, but no mainstream attention or anything.

it’s pickles who reaches out to him when magnus is in his early 30s (it’s like 1994 or something). wants to know if he’s at all interested in going back to his metal roots because they just had to get rid of their previous lead guitarist due to heroin addiction. magnus admits he’s interested, comes to a practice session. the guys are all phenomenal, and magnus sees some serious dollar signs. dethklok starts getting huge pretty quickly after that. they ditch their older manager at magnus’ insistence that he’s holding them back, and pickles knows a guy and gets him on board (hello charlie!). they all buy into a huge apartment so they can live and practice in the same place. there’s talk of a recording contract. everything’s looking up, even if they’re all starting to bicker behind the scenes.

it’s around this time that magnus hears from his step-dad that his mother died. a month ago. it was a lovely funeral, but he didn’t want magnus there due to his history with drugs, didn’t want him to make a scene and “act crazy”. after that magnus begins to slip. his addiction and depression spiral. he’s blowing up at people left and right, feels out of control. the only thing he thinks he can control is the band, and his grip tightens hard. he butts heads with pickles quite a bit, who definitely suspects something bad is up with him. magnus fears there’s talk of getting rid of him, and his paranoia makes him try to assert even more control.

finally we reach That Night. we know what goes down. magnus finds himself kicked out with his gear, homeless again, face busted. he gets in his truck, shoots up, goes for a drive for a while, feels good. when he comes down, though, he’s furious and his face fucking hurts and he wants to fucking kill something. he drives back to the apartment, finding everyone either out or asleep. he makes a move for nathan’s bedroom door, intent on finishing the job, but he doesn’t. and then he just gets pissed off at himself, wrecks up the place, and drives away again. he keeps telling himself he should just drive off the road and end it, but he doesn’t, and when he crosses state lines into new mexico he realizes he’s been driving to his half-sister’s house this whole time. they’d talked occasionally over the years but not much, but the moment he knocks on her door she takes him in with no questions asked. he doesn’t want any doctors so she just tends to his face as best she can, and when he starts to detox she looks after him. his sister makes her living as a reiki healer and is super into crystals and meditation and stuff, so while he’s living with her she tries to help him get his energies all aligned and whatnot hahaha... she’s also a recovered addict so no alcohol or drugs in the house. it’s a really weird time for magnus, but it’s good too. he probably ends up living with her for a few years, just keeping a low profile, playing guitar, trying to heal from shit.

dethklok gets huge very, very quickly. he tries not to pay attention but soon enough he’s seeing billboards for their album and tour, interviews on TV, magazine covers. a documentary comes out on MTV about the history of the band, and there’s a whole section about magnus with photos of him and people talking about how angry and controlling he was. they interview the band, people he played with in the past, old flames. his sister says she was approached for it, but she declined to comment. magnus is distraught, and almost overnight every time he goes into town for anything someone recognizes him and gives him shit (or worse, recognizes him and wants him to tell them all about dethklok). he gets things thrown at him, gets his tires slashed, gets approached for sex but only because of his connection to the band. dethklok fans at this point are getting even more zealous.

he has a really bad night and considers just shaving his head and beard so he won’t be recognized, but he can’t bring himself to do it. he starts drinking again, hiding it from his sister, and eventually just leaves in the middle of the night without a word. calls her in the morning when he reaches a stopping place, apologizes, confesses he’s off the wagon. she wires him some money, a pretty significant amount, and tells him to get an apartment and take care of himself. magnus, surprisingly, does just that. he feels it’s the least he can do to repay her kindness.

he still drinks, but i don’t think he gets back into drugs until he starts doing the rock camp thing years later. being around those old washed-up musicians and being “ex-dethklok guitarist magnus hammersmith” makes him feel like shit, even if the money is good, and most of these dudes are still using. heroin’s not chic anymore, though, it’s all about pills.

the assassin knows exactly what he’s doing when he shows himself to magnus on the anniversary of his mother’s death. offers him a chance to take his life back, to help change the world, to make sure dethklok gets what’s coming to them once and for all. magnus had all but given up hope on ever escaping from their shadow, but this...the assassin makes some sense, so in the middle of the night he agrees, and in the morning he finds an address scrawled on the wall in blood. and the rest is history i suppose. :’)
