"Hello? You can hear me?"
"Wait, are you Callie? I didn't think you were real!"
Beruru was curious why her father talked to his sword/staff so much. Callie (Excalibur) the Anima was overjoyed to meet her!

Codex Entry #92: A Ghoulish Delight
My dearest Regine:
Surely you must have heard of the Paget's failing fortunes? They've lost almost everything. The lord made some bad decisions and trusted people he shouldn't. All that's left is La Maison Verte, in the Dales. They have to sell it and move to the city. I was called upon to find someone willing to buy the house. You would be so proud of me. I surpassed all the lord's expectations.
I looked into La Maison's history first. Did you know it was built in the time of the elves? It was a sanctuary dedicated to Andruil, goddess of the forest; the house was built around the ruins. The heart of the shrine was an etched stone altar, now in the grand hall. It's quite spectacular. Any noble in Val Royeaux would be envious of something with such historical significance. I planned a party to show off the house and its elven altar. We had it decorated with white flowers and candles, even brought in some harts to graze in the garden outside. The effect was stunning.
Then, my stroke of genius! Remember when Lady Carine's pastime was reading about elves, and how sympathetic she was to what happened in the Dales? She couldn't stop talking about how we must make contact with the restless elven spirits. All her lady companions were so taken with the idea. Well, I did just that. Or I made the guests believe that's what happened. I had to hire a mage to help, of course—a very discreet fellow from Montsimmard.
During the party, I talked about how the house was a haunt for sad elven spirits. They ate it all up. Romantic, they said. For the final touch, I had everyone join hands around the elven stone and pray, and the mage (no names!) cast a spell that made us dance like puppets on strings and sing "The Little Bluebird of Summer."
It was a triumph! Offers began pouring in! One of them was even from a representative of Grand Duchess Florianne.
Oh, I have so much to tell you. I can't wait to return.
With great love,
Ignatius

On the 30th of May is the Feast Day of the Transfer of the Relics of King Saint Stephen of Hungary
The Holy Right Hand is a Hungarian national and catholic relic, said to be the naturally mummified right hand of Stephen I, first king of Hungary, also called Saint Stephen.
Saint Stephen (in Hungarian Szent István) was born around 970-975 in Esztergom. He was a member of the Árpád dynasty, born a pagan but baptized a Christian. In 996, he married Gisela of Bavaria, sister of the future Holy Roman Emperor Henry II. After the death of his father, the Grand Prince Géza, Stephen fought an insurrection led by his cousin, Koppány, who claimed the throne in accordance with the rules of succession of Árpád. After defeating Koppány, Stephen was crowned as (first) King of Hungary with a crown received from Pope Sylvester II.
His coronation, which took place around 1021 years ago on Christmas Day in the year 1000, marked Hungary's entry into the family of European Christian nations. Stephen made the Church the main pillar of his authority, sending missionaries throughout his kingdom, founding bishoprics and abbeys, and mandating the building of churches. He died in 1038 and became the patron saint of Hungary.
The king's right hand, naturally mummified, is one of the most importantrelics Hungarian nationals, discovered during the opening of his stone tomb on August 20, 1083 in Székesfehérvár. (The identifying mark of the right hand was the king's ring, which adorned the hand). Therelic had a few adventures in his time. During the Turkish occupation, it ended up in Ragusa (today: Dubrovnik, Croatia), where it was guarded by Dominican friars, attracting increasing numbers of pilgrims to the city.

Queen Maria Theresa (1717-1780), late successor to Saint Stephen on the Hungarian throne, negotiated the return of the Holy Right Hand in 1771, offering in return the historic city of Ragusa its protection against the threat of Russian invasion. In her charter decree, she specified how the relic, the mummified hand of Saint Stephen, was to be respected throughout the country.
During World War II, the Holy Right Hand was concealed - along with the Coronation Jewels - near Salzburg, Austria. The relic returned to Hungary in 1945, and it has been on display in St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest since 1987.

"Is that a question, Summer Rose?"
No, of course not. Ozpin's little warrior was wiser than that -- smart enough to believe that she could play games with a Spirit who knew things she could never fathom to understand. Amusement plays on Jinn's face, a chuckle slipping past as she leaned closer down toward the woman, "I've already told Ozma all that he wishes to know... but is this really what you would waste your energy on asking?"
There were so many more things that a mother should want to know.

An encyclopedia of the peculiar. As a peculiarity enthusiast, Hugh longed to peek inside. He resisted the urge (barely), trying to remain professional.
This was only a sample of Sow'in’s collection. Hugh’s eyes widened as he imagined how many antique books Sow'in owned in total. Oh, how he wished he could see them now. He understood the importance of trust when it came to such treasures, though.
The bookbinder nodded, his expression solemn. “Of course. I understand.” He placed one hand over his heart. “I give you my word, Mr. Hallows, that I will restore your books with the utmost care and respect.” An earnest promise. Levity glimmered in his gaze as he added, “Your books will feel like they’re at a spa made especially for them.”
Sow'in described his work, and Hugh nodded along, intrigued and impressed. A remarkable resume for someone who looked so young, especially since Sow'in mentioned having an apprentice as well. The bookbinder knew better than to trust apparent age, of course. He’d met plenty of customers who aged differently than others or who donned signs of youth or age like jewelry depending on their mood.
With a “mrrp!” to announce her arrival, a cat leapt onto the counter. She promptly deemed the book box her new bed and managed to put one paw inside before Hugh scooped her into his arms to protect the antiques. She began purring, as though she had planned on being cradled like a baby all along.
(Brown and fluffy, she resembled the kitty sketched in a framed drawing by the cash register. Beside it, a handwritten note read: ‘My name is Porridge, I live here! I am deaf, please do not sneak up on me!’)
“Research, eh?” Hugh rubbed the cat’s chin, and her purring intensified, her eyes closing in contentment. Her paws kneaded Hugh’s sleeve. He grinned at Sow'in. “Planning to write a book of your own?”
Filigree mentioned his wife. Samhain had spent some time in the shop and not noticed anyone who fit the description of the co-owner and so assumed she was not in for the day. The ghoul smiled at the comment and took his thanks, but said nothing.
He could tell Hugh was just as passionate, if not even more so, about books just from the way he looked at them. Samhain thought his wide-eyed adoration for the relics were amusing. At the back of his mind, he wondered to himself 'Is this how I look like in front of Nightshade? Is that why she giggles?' His moment of self-reflection was dismissed once Hugh accepted the task.
“Just need some patchwork and new clothes, that’s all.”
Samhain was delighted to hear it, letting out a small sigh of relief. He was very much surprised by the price when he heard it. He thought such expertise would have been more costly, though the ghoul did not argue. "Payment's not an issue," he clarified. But he had another condition. "This is but a sample of my collection. I hope ye don't mind but seeing as this is my first commission with you, I'd like to see the results of the first batch before I can decide to give you another."
He asked about his work. Samhain grinned as he answered, "Dabble in all sorts, really. Ah prepare spells, hexes, charms an' counter-curses for those who ask. Ah've an apprentice who deals with potions an' remedies; her forte. Sometimes we're called to deal with exorcisms, retrieve missing artefacts, mediate between conflicting parties.. We're a jack-of-many-trades, ye could say."
The title Hugh had picked up was an encyclopedic text of the paranatural beastiary and cryptozoology, written in both English and some strange runic alphabet. "But most days, ah like to research things in me own spare time," Samhain chuckled.
