Oops, dropped some lore.

Dragon's family is pretty poor. All being small time artists, they're very happy but not the most well-off. Because of this, Dragon was homeschooled for the first few years of elementary because their parents couldn't afford school fees. This is also why Dragon didn't get as close with Conner as Zach did, they didn't have classes with him and Conner lives in a much nicer part of town, so they just didn't see Conner much unless he was visiting Zach.

For a while, Dragon was invited to play when Conner came over. In fact, Conner usually insisted. But for some reason, once Dragon actually got to go to school with them in grade 4, Conner didn't really invite them to play anymore. Since Conner didn't seem to want Dragon around, Zach could only play with one of them at a time. And Conner always said Zach would see Dragon at home, so Zach always agreed to play with him instead.

Dragon didn't understand why they couldn't play anymore. They didn't think they'd done anything wrong, so why wouldn't Conner let them be around?

Sometimes the most gender affirming thing to do is be petty.

Dragon has no problem appearing more masc or more femme and will take advantage of their gender chameleon abilities to spite assholes.
