Repost @revivalracingoffroad #Repost @the_a.mcabee with @get_repost First run at King of the Hammers for #RevivalRacingOffroad. This was not only my first race but a first desert race for everyone on the team. With that being said I couldnt have asked for a better performance of the team and the car. Our start was strong and we made the decision to pit for fuel on the first entry into Remote Pit 1. We were burning fuel quicker than anticipated and this payed off. Early on around mile 24 we had a bad bounce and felt we may have bent a tie rod about 10 miles later we snapped a driver inner tie rod. Jon my co-driver quickly got a new one on as I checked the rest of the car. We found a small pin hole in the passenger front tire. With a quick plug we were back on track. We came into Remote Pit 1 for the 2nd time for fuel and tire change. The pit crew performed great and back on course we went. We had zero issues between Remote Pit 1 and Remote Pit 2A besides some minor gps quirks. Jon and I came into Lap 2 and hammered down to the rocks. We bent the passenger inner 90 degrees and blew the outer tie rod ball out of the socket at mile 102. We replaced the inner and put an old outer on and tried to take it easy but in Wrecking ball at about mile 106.5 we broke the driver inner tie rod we put on earlier and bent the passenger inner as well. We couldnt get radio contact so I went cross country about 1.5 miles over the mountain to remote pit 2B to see if we could come up with a fix or replacement. Both pits were looking for a solution but could not come up with replacements. At this point it was around 3:30 pm and with no parts to be found I made the hard decision to call it a day. My team and I learned a lot and it was a big eye opener for what kind of terrain is out there at this race. We all had fun and next year we will be stronger smarter and faster. Cant wait for San Felipe in May we have a lot of work to do to get our car ready but we WILL be ready. #maxxistires #maxxisroxxzilla #gspxtv #gspxtvaxles #boldracing #2218life #FUTVArmy #factoryutv #racerekluse #rekluseclutch #prpseats #WARNindustries #GOPREPARED #ruggedradios #utvs
