“dammit!” reki cursed for the nth time, another string following after he fell off his board.

pulling him up and dusting his jacket off, “watch the cursing reki, we’ve got a child over there.” you laugh, pointing at miya in the distance.

“you shut up you hideous goblin!” he shouted, face flushed with red.

goblin? hideous? hideous goblin!? you?

his mouth acts faster than his brain, and his limbs move unconsciously towards the apparent offender. “what the fuck did you just say?”

“wha- what the heck are you doing!” miya yelled, backing away from the fuming redhead.

“you called y/n a hideous goblin! you think I’m gonna let that just slide?” he asked, gesturing towards you who had appeared by his side. “no one- and i mean no one talks to y/n like that, especially in front of me. they’re the most beautiful gorgeous prettiest person out there!”

“reki!” you shouted, heat rising to your cheeks in embarrassment at his declaration.

he whips around to you, “no-no it’s true! whenever i see you you’re just breathtaking and i can never get my heart to stop beating so quickly!”

miya deadpanned at the boy in front of him, rolling his eyes as he walked away, leaving you stranded and alone with reki. “my work here is done.”

your mouth opened and closed as you tried to get words to come out, a permanent heat filling your cheeks as you avoided reki’s eyes.

the redhead caught attention to your behavior, pausing as he recalled what he said, his face slowly filling with red. “um! uh haha! well, well uh- let’s see… you know!” he stammered, rubbing his neck.

“do you mean that?” you hesitantly ask, tilting your head at him.

“yeah, of course i mean it.” he sighs, covering his head as he squatted down to hide. “this is really embarrassing.”

you laugh, the sound easing him. “but reki, do you wanna know something?”

he hums, looking up at you through his hair.

“i think you’re all those things too. beautiful gorgeous and pretty.”
