sorry to burst your bubble but Mantaro is just the jp equivalent to big man! iirc his full name is manta tarou kizaemon munekiyo (I think it was mentioned in the artbook? wanted to fact check it but I’m having a bit of a tough time pinning down the source)
no yeah I knew that, it's just that it really sounds like Frye is saying Mantaro in the new song, which has me going a little nuts lol. because if that is what she's saying (ie what the actual VA said in the recording studio), then that makes the JP name inherently more canon than the ENG one. which is fucking wild. to me.

I think you're on to something here.
I've been thinking about how, given all that they know about the island and about bugsnax, how did they not figure at least some of it out? I mean, ffs, they found out that all bugsnax are one and the same, just with different stimuli applied-- how did that not register as ''hey all these things are a fucking hivemind????''
AND their theory about the lava/magma on the island actually being superheated fondue... like, given how islands form, what does that say about the very land they're standing on??
It's like, everything came so, SO close to coming together in Floofty's head. But I think you're right. They were driven towards a different conclusion instead: that they could Help The World if they just... tried something a bit dangerous... something only they were brave and smart enough to try...
horrible theory time.
we know the snax amplify unhealthy thought patterns. floofty, with their background in biology, is the person most likely to figure out the true nature of the snax eventually.
so the snax zeroed in on their self-sacrificing nature and convinced them that they had to do something really risky, something we know now would have almost certainly killed them. because floofty had to die or else they’d put the pieces together, and the whole charade would come crashing down.

oh!! i’ve done a lot of research on this actually!! (mainly because my brain is Really Good at not sleeping)
Full disclosure: I’m getting most of these tips from an app called CBT-i Coach (which stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - insomnia Coach). It’s free, and I really recommend it for people who have trouble sleeping! But if you don’t want to do that, here’re a few tips.
First off! Don’t get into bed unless you are going to sleep, if you can! This can be difficult for folks with disabilities, so instead, you can put a sheet over top of your bed (in a different color from your sleep sheets/blankets) when you’re lying in bed without planning to sleep. This helps associate your bed with sleep in your brain!
As a sort of part two to the first bit, if you can’t get to sleep after about 15 minutes (i sometimes end up giving it 30, myself, because i am Stubborn), get out of bed and do something. Organize your mail. Write down what meals you plan to eat that week. Clean out a drawer. Something that’s not Really Exciting (don’t go reading horror stories— i Have in fact made this mistake before), but will keep you occupied until you feel tired.
Also, like Papyrus said, wake up at the same time each day! And— here’s the tricky part— don’t go to sleep until your bedtime. Keep yourself awake! Naps are a luxury we can’t afford! This is when you read scary stories, or watch a mystery show! Or work on something you’re interested in! Or turn on some upbeat music and dance around! Whatever keeps you up!
Then we have the more obvious ideas, that most docs will ask you about when you say you can’t sleep: Drink less caffeine (personally, I don’t drink caffeine at all after 4pm, and I avoid it in the afternoon if I can help it). Make sure your sleeping area is quiet, dark, and at a comfortable temperature. You might try getting thicker curtains, or setting up a fan to use either as white noise or to cool you down.
And if any of these don’t work, please talk to a doctor if you can! They can offer sleep aids that are not habit-forming (especially if you’re worried about/have a family history of addiction). They’re also going to know if any of your current medications (if you take any) are interfering, and they might try a blood test to make sure you’re getting enough Vitamin D. And there’s no shame in asking them about insomnia— they became doctors to help people like you!
