coming up with a pseudonym is odd when your real full name is this over the top tbh. Every Normal Author Name i come up with feels like cosplaying Normalperson Regularguy whereas every more ridiculous name i come up with kind of defeats the purpose in part (be assumed less unrelatable/assumed to have made up a ridiculous pseudonym for attention as well as the usual privacy concerns). I just can't get it right lol.

this has been one of the funniest parts of pact for the last however many arcs it keeps fucking happening to him. rose assumes he's being a sarcastic jerk by saying "yeah the signal if something bad happens is screaming. screaming is bad" to evan but no he's just kind of stupid. people assume he's drains-corrupted when he wants to set the house on fire, but no, he's just Sorta Stupid and thinks it would help. and the thing is that the stupid part is not even his actual ideas half the time, his ideas are quite often perfectly fine decisionmaking given circumstances, it's just that he has the demeanor of a man with 500 open stab wounds walking into an interview and politely shaking the interviewers hand and introducing himself and then being really confused when everyone starts screaming. the stupid part is that he genuinely can't process that he's not a normal guy anymore and it freaks everyone the fuck out that he thinks he still is. blake wearing one of those "I AM NOT CARRYING A GUN I DO NOT WANT TO HURT ANYONE" shirts but it's completely unironic and he's confused why it's making all of 'his' 'friends' look worried. and of course bonus points for how the one (1) time he actually does angsty self-reflection on it and is like Alas....you have not been looking at my eyes for quite some time....instead you have been beholding my Wretched Visage...the person hes talking to is like ohum actually i was looking at the rest of you and not your eyes because i thought you were fuckable. AND he keeps fucking. oscillating between doing crazy violence or thinking about doing crazy violence and then his regularguy demeanor and it does NOT occur to him that the shift might be alarming from the perspective of someone who is actually a living human person. its great. hes a guy ever.

the thing that's starting to get really hilarious about blake's absurd levels of Normal Guy Behavior is, aside from the usage of the impeccable dialogue tag "i said in a very normal voice," the juxtaposition between his literally being a horror movie monster and his being the most reasonable protagonist in really any horror anything ever. like he'll go on these lengthy khepri-style mental monologues about what his odds would be if he had to kill everyone in the room right now, but then he'll close it off with "oh right, or i could not be thinking about murdering everyone," and make a reasonable and diplomatic statement instead. all while looking like he just crawled out of the gutter with a sword that hurts and kills you forever permanently stabbed thru his hand. he's just sort of perpetually out of it and oblivious to how insane it is to everyone else that he's acting this normal. it's fucking great.
