[ID: a three panel comic. In the first, one stick figure sits at a computer while another stands behind it, saying: Wow, 212 paper references! What referencing software did you use? In the second panel, the sitting stick figure replies: Referencing software? I just wrote all these in myself. The third panel has no words. The standing stick figure has dropped its mug and is running away in shock with its hands in the air while the sitting stick figure looks mutely on. End ID]
There are people out there writing papers without using referencing software, terrifying but true
#described#absolutely i use referencing software#refworks is glorious#you can import citations from most virtual databases#i haven't worked with print journal sources as much so i don't know about ease of entry#but oh man. refworks my beloved#(i used to think janky stuff like citation machine was all that was out there and it is a TRAVESTY compared to refworks)#and then format according to preferred handbook (so many formats. not just like mla and apa but all sorts#so many versions of chicago! i could be as specific as i needed to be)#seriously. they say they have 6606 styles#and i believe it#now i still proofread but it is WAY less work to edit than it is to format every single one manually#the allure is not just *i don't have to understand the citation format* but more of *i don't have to keep track of everything in my head#and autogenerating a list of citations is so so so much better and less brain-tiring than doing it myself
