#refreshing to see sci-fi from the 70s where the dude is told he’s being a creep

I really can’t get enough of sci-fi short stories that commit to being rather unhinged.

I just finished reading one where a man accidentally receives a super futuristic “child’s toy” that allows you to make small biological beings or “twin” things. He hyper fixates on this item, learns to use it, contemplates making a duplicate of the hot lady at work so he can have her, changes his mind at the last minute, makes a duplicate of himself, said duplicate immediately tells him he’s a fucking loser and weirdo for considering making himself a duplicate of the woman, then a weird tall man busts in the room (LITERALLY), says that he got the package by accident and he was here to retrieve it and dispose of the twin, the duplicate says “hey you’re a smart guy you can totally tell who the original is”, the tall man agrees and vaporizes the original then says that humanity isn’t quite ready for the technology to which the duplicate agrees. END
