TP WORLD BUILDINGGGG

Botw has good world building too, but each race felt kinda,,, isolated? I absolutely love the different architecture and vibe each town has (and all the the weapons too) but ghhh yea everyone felt so separated. As far as I can remember, we don’t see tooo much of the races interacting with each other? Now that I’m typing that out maybe that’s to be expected because of the calamity but KLSJDKJFD ANYWAYS THIS IS ABOUT TP

The world feels nice and alive, love how populated everything is

Castle town I like castle town a lot, it feels dense and busy and I really like how you can’t talk to every NPC you see

BUT HEY, I do remember seeing a zora or two hanging out in the hot springs around death mountain after beating the lakebed temple (I think, might have been a different dungeon) 

but aaaa would have been nice to see them in at least a couple of other places. I think it would have really added to the “congrats Link!! You’re restoring peace to Hyrule” feeling you get from seeing the Gorons hanging out in Kakariko and Castle Town

Love Midna’s theme and how they referenced the dark world theme from ALttP (I remember trying to learn the dark world theme on the piano and doing the Leonardo DiCaprio point meme at the little jingle I recognized from Midna’s theme)

Hyrule field theme SLAPS.

Apparently references a couple of the other over-world themes from the previous zelda games (I got this from 8-bit Music theory’s video on the over-world zelda themes, he talks about TP at around 11:40 but def recommend watching the whole video if you’re into music analysis stuff)

So there’s this bit of the Hyrule Field theme, I don’t know the official name for it but I remember seeing somewhere it being called the “at an advantage theme” since yeah, you hear it during the boss music whenever you expose their weak points. FUCKINGGG LOVE THAT. Didn’t notice it during my first playthrough, but hearing it during my second was like a little easter egg for my ears every time :)

Literally, the first time I listened to those I just,,,, plugged in my headphones, volume 100, layed on the floor/against my desk and silently vibed. I don’t know what the hell it is, but those two just fit so well with TP?? I still avoid listening to them nowadays cause if I DO I definitely will get overwhelmed with the “god I love this game so FUCKING MUCH” kind of feels.

VERY GOOD. IT’s like 10 minutes long and GOD do I love every single second of it. It doesn’t have the same energy as the skyward sword staff roll or the orchestra pieces but GOD does it hit good??

Nice and calm after that big exciting adventure. Maybe it would have been more fun or emotional to have a higher energy piece but it was really nice getting to sit back and watch the camera fly around Hyrule. Seeing like, the Gorons and the Zoras having a good time, the kids returning to Ordon? GOOD SHIT.

and AAAAA that end, when you hear the main Zelda theme and see Link riding off out of Faron woods on Epona… good shit. It gets you thinking, where the hell is he going? What is he doing? Off ot do more adventuring? Going to help out the resistance or something? Going to help Zelda? Or maybe he’s trying to figure out a way to restore the mirror of twilight? Whoooo knows.

They’re all just so unique and contrast SO well with the rest of the TP OST. LIKE FUCK!! Anytime I hear the screech from the Twilit Kargarok? Sends a shiver down my spine. I associate those sounds SO strongly with the twili realm. (Like, the same way you associate the BSHEWW VVWWMMM sounds with light sabers)

Subtext and Culture, Season 3, Episode 10

Subtext: This is where Sonja admits that Even’s love for Isak is real, and that their relationship is completely over. And since she still cares about Even, she passes the torch to Isak, helps Isak help Even in the best way she knows. Blink and you miss it: Isak’s almost imperceptible smile when Sonja says that Even is better off with him than with her.

Subtext: One final shot of The Locker™, and this time it opens without any issues and Isak flings it open as wide as possible. Because he’s walking through school, talking openly on the phone with Eskild about watching over his bipolar boyfriend. Subtext: Everyone forgot about kosegruppa, because that thing with this Even dude completely took over the show, but it’s nice that the show reminded us that that was actually a thing way back in episode 1. Subtext: This entire clip is a mirror to the clip in episode 3, same characters, same place, same sequence of events. But the outcome is completely different this time. Vilde asks about having a pre-party at Isak’s, and this time he doesn’t protest, he just says yes. Isak walks over to Emma to invite her to the party, but this time it’s not to lead her on, and this time she turns him down. Subtext: Although neither character is saying it out loud, they’re essentially having the “we cool?” conversation. Yeah, they’re cool.

Subtext: Isak is the worst liar. He has visible tells, and his friends usually see right through him, but no-one has really called him out on it, until Even does. The only big lie he’s gotten away with is that he likes guys, but Even saw right through that one as well. So to him, Isak is a really bad liar. Subtext: Everyone forgot about Kosegruppa! Not a single person remembers it! Subtext: It’s ironic that neither Isak not Even went to the first meeting with Kosegruppa because they wanted to be part of the revue. Both of them had ulterior motives, Isak wanted his weed back, and Even wanted to get closer to Isak. Cinematography: Normally we always hear both sides of phone conversations, because they happen from the point-of-view of the main character. But this time Isak doesn’t give a shit about Vilde, he’s lying in bed with Even, so Vilde’s voice is just reduced to an annoying buzzing in the background, and he just wants to get out of the phone call.

Culture: Minutt For Minutt is the name of NRK’s series of slow television programmes. The first such programme showed a train trip from Oslo to Bergen, in realtime, without any cuts. Every single minute of the trip. All seven hours and sixteen minutes. Absolutely riveting. So what Magnus is proposing is to stick a camera in front of Isak and Even and keeping it there for hours, no cuts, no edits, no nothing. This is of course a meta-comment on the show itself, because that is exactly what a lot of fans of the show would want to see. Subtext: The meta-commentary just keeps coming in this clip. Because the conversation Magnus and Isak are having, is of course a conversation that David and Tarjei must have had. What is it like to be a part of a TV show with your best friend, and watching him make out with some other dude? How embarrassing is it to shoot sex scenes, knowing that your friends are going to watch them later? Subtext: Of course Jonas is #1, he was probably Isak’s first real crush. Subtext: And in yet another meta-commentary, the show points out that a lot of women are fans of the show because they think it’s really cute to see two guys being together, and that it is pretty shallow, actually. The dance group doesn’t give a shit about Isak and Even as people, they don’t know either of them, and the only reason they’re asking is because they want them to join their party and look cute. Isak does the 100% right thing by rejecting them.

Blink and you miss it: Eskild is wearing tights and mascara, a throwback to the clip in episode 5 when Isak comes out to Eskild. Lost in translation: Linn uses the word “skeiv” to talk about the Christmas tree, which means both “crooked” and “queer”, so Eskild makes a little word-pun that just works a lot better in Norwegian than English. Blink and you miss it: Someone made a gingerbread penis and decorated it with frosting. Someone also drew a penis on the gingerbread man with frosting. Together with the condom Christmas tree ornaments and Chris’ Christmas penis ornament, there’s even more penis at this party than at Dr Skrulle’s office. Culture: In case you’ve forgotten the grade system that I explained back in season 1, a 6 is the highest grade you can get in a subject, so Isak is better than Sana at biology. He did answer the question on excretion correctly after all. Lost in translation: Norwegian, along with a bunch of other languages, have a construct known as a disagreeing yes. Magnus actually says “jo, gjør det igjen”, but he’s using “jo”, the disagreeing yes, which is different from “ja”, the agreeing yes. English doesn’t have this construct, so to signal disagreement you typically have to invert your sentence, or if it’s less clear-cut like in this scene, you have to start your sentence with no. Because Magnus disagrees with Vilde, he doesn’t think her meowing was nothing, he liked it, he wants her to do it again. Subtext: There is a little throwback here, both to the first episode when Magnus talked about making out with a girl with a cat-tongue, and to the second episode where he offered to have sex with Vilde. But here, she makes the offer to him. Subtext: Eva is making a dig at herself, because the whole plot of season 1 was that she “stole” someone’s boyfriend.

Oh my love, we’ve had our share of tears. Oh my friends, we’ve had our hopes and fears. Oh my friends, it’s been a long hard year. But now it’s Christmas. Yes, it’s Christmas. Thank God it’s Christmas. Season 3 of SKAM uses a lot more subtext than the previous season, for several reasons. Both Isak and Even are carrying secrets that they are ashamed of, Isak of being gay, and Even of having a mental illness. And they keep masking these facts, they keep themselves closed, to each other, and to their friends, so you have to look at their actions to see what they really want. This season also contains a fair amount of symbolism, of birth and rebirth, and it heavily references both Romeo+Juliet and Pretty Woman. If you’ve never watched either of those movies, I highly recommend that you do, so that you can see the scenes that this season is inspired by. One final season left to go, and I already know that the last season is going to be heavier on cinematography and visual composition than the previous seasons, so if that interests you, keep reading!

Just like with other Germanic words, “Schönbrunn” can be literally translated to English and means “beautiful fountain”, a reference reportedly uttered by Emperor Matthias while passing by the fountain in 1619 while hunting.

In those days was this area, located circa 6 kilometres from the city centre, considered a countryside, therefore many aristocrats came here to relax and indulge in some hunting.

Trying to be the copy of the Palace of Versailles, Schönbrunn Palace was built in its current form on the peak of Austria’s Baroque glory over the course of several decades in the 18th century.

Austria’s mother of the nation, Empress Maria Theresia was the first who decided to make this former hunting chalet the summer residence of the Habsburgs. It was first modified in 1737 by Josef Emanuel Fischer von Erlach and again in 1744 by Nikolaus Pacassi. The formal gardens were originally laid out in 1705–06 by Jean-Nicolas Jadot de Ville-Issey and from 1765 were redesigned by Ferdinand von Hohenberg. Schönbrunn Tiergarten, perhaps the oldest zoo in Europe, was founded within the grounds in 1752.

Therefore this palace comes with all the bits and pieces a Baroque palace should have: pretty facades, formal gardens, amaze, an orangerie green house, a zoo, botanical gardens, facilities for carriages and for entertaining guests at state balls, state apartments and representative halls. The entire park complex, open to the public since 1918, covers more than 2 square kilometres.

While only 40 of the Schönbrunn Palace’s 1,441 rooms are open to the public, they are enough to provide visitors with a sense of its magnificence. Only accessible as part of a tour, the rooms on display include a number in the palace’s West Wing, home to the sumptuous Apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife Elisabeth (or Sisi).

Richly furnished in 19th-century style, the rooms include the Emperor’s Audience Chamber and the Walnut Room, named after its rich walnut paneling from 1766, a highlight of which is the candelabra carved out of wood and covered in gold. Another highlight is Franz Joseph’s Bedroom with the simple soldier’s bed in which the Emperor died on November 21st, 1916, after a reign of 68 years. Also of note here is Empress Elisabeth’s Salon with its pastel portraits of her children by Jean-Etienne Liotard.

Of the apartments once occupied by Maria Theresa, some of the most attractive are the Bergl Rooms, the richly furnished Garden Apartments with their exotic decorative styles and including works by Johann Bergl. Other highlights include Marie Antoinette’s Room (Napoleon famously stayed here) with its celebrated portrait of Francis I displaying the insignia of the Order of the Golden Fleece; the Nursery with its portrait of Marie Antoinette; the Yellow Room with its white marble clock, a gift from Napoleon III to Franz Joseph I; and the Breakfast Room with its fine floral paintings thought be the work of the Empress’ daughters. Also of note are the Great Gallery, once home to glittering Imperial banquets under ornate ceiling paintings; the Million Room, Maria Theresa’s private salon, paneled with precious rosewood, ornamented with gilt carvings, and home to some 260 Indian and Persian miniatures; and the Hall of Mirrors with its crystal mirrors in gilded Rococo frames.

There are plenty of tours offered, combining exploring the city centre with Schönbrunn, however, in my opinion is the best choice to tour the city centre by yourself for free (many audioguides are available for free on the internet, like izi.travel app, which provides detailed maps with very elaborate audioguide about each place on the map – only in Vienna I found about 9 tours all around the town (I tried three of them)). And then just come here and buy a classic tour around the chambers, without any expensive guides since even those can be found anywhere for free – you just have to know what to look for.

However, I prefer gardens more than the palace (that says a lot since I’m a passionate architecture lover). They’re way less crowded than the interiors and have a lot of secrets! Someplace it’s only you and the animals around. They kinda remind me of Versailles although those in Versailles are larger and hide more intimate corners.

Between the “landmarks” you’ve definitely already heard about or at least saw on some kind of social media re:

Gloriette – it was built as a belvedere around 100 years after the main palace and stands on top of a hill overlooking the baroque gardens, the palace and Vienna. There is an observation terrace on the flat roof, which can be used between April and November. Inside is a café/patisserie/breakfast point with, surprisingly, very good coffee and even better view.

ZOO – one of Europe’s best zoos, Schönbrunn Zoo is one of the best attractions if you visit Vienna with kids. It’s situated between the palace and Gloriette on the right side. It’s huge and breathtaking, therefore also a little bit expensive, but as for a one-time experience it’s amazing. I was there when I was about 11 (I had a thing for ZOOs and visited every single one within 600 kilometres from my hometown), and I remember liking this one the most. However, this time I didn’t visit it – I found 20 euros too much for my current financial state, huh.

For additional old world grandeur with a warm feeling head to the Palm house. The gigantic glass iron construction goes back to the late 19th century, and is the largest of its kind on the European continent. You will likely know Mediterranean, Tropical and Northern vegetation, but it’s nice to imagine the Habsburgs getting all excited about it. Clearly, the best time to visit the Palmenhaus is when it’s cold outside. This one is not for free, it’s part of those tours you can buy at the entrance.

Originally known as the Ruin of Carthage, the Roman Ruin is a set of follies designed by the architect Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg and erected as an entirely new architectural feature in 1778. Fully integrated into its parkland surroundings, this architectural ensemble should be understood as a picturesque horticultural feature and not simply as a ruin, which due to lack of maintenance it had increasingly grown to resemble prior to its recent restoration. Before I’ve done something, I’ve already mapped out why I need to do it, because the dance around the playground of pros and cons can be never-ending.

Without sounding like an extremist, I’ve always been someone who’s either all in or all out. Naturally, I tend to value that quality most in people as well.

When I half-ass an idea, I get a half-assed result. And mama wants da whooooole ass.

Okay, awkward ass talk aside, I’m sure you’ve all seen this quote:

As someone who’s lived on the road for over half a decade, I was constantly at the mercy of countries that lacked the proper hair care products I needed.

So I actually was chopping my hair off every 3-6 months and using wigs and weaves to carry on as usual.

Contrary to popular belief, Black hair grows fast! And it became an annoyance to bury my fro underneath wigs constantly because I was too lazy to always cornrow them down.

It wasn’t until last year after my surgery, that I decided to let it grow out again, because I came out of that experience with a newfound gratitude and decided I’d take better care of all aspects of my body, hair included.

I remember buying a bulk order of a specific kind of hair conditioner and getting it shipped to a friend in LA, before realizing that it’s literally impossible to be able to travel with all the hair care products you needed for proper maintenance of my 4C hair.

I was ready to level-up my outer appearance, inspired by these lessons I learned last year:

Don’t aim to be nice; aim to be respected.

There are people committed to misunderstanding you.

People aren’t evil; but if they can take advantage of you, they will.

Image isn’t everything, but it can be complementary to your messaging.

The less you care what people think, the more freedom you’re afforded.

My boho, carefree, gaping smile was the look I became branded by.

Always happy, always helpful, and always ready to lend whatever I could to make someone’s day.

Holy shit, Glo. You were a total people-pleaser.

You allowed yourself to get so bent by the needs and wants of others, you bent your own self out of shape.

In typical Glo form, I wanted to investigate this further, diving into self-help books, investing in therapy, and looking into psychological questionnaires to see who else “suffers” from this.

It led me to the Myers–Briggs Personality test (here’s a free site to take yours and where I’m pulling my reference screenshots from).

I got my ENFJ-A results and immediately scrolled to the weaknesses section to have a self-deprecating pity party for one, joking but absolutely f*cking serious.

And though this discovery was made after I had my hair chopped off, it confirmed what I already knew and why I had to do it.

First and foremost, let’s point out the fact that I’m equally as extroverted as I am introverted.

Over the last 3 years, I’ve tapped into my introverted side more (even wrote about how travel impacted that), but this is something people are shocked to learn because I have so much energy online.

But I’m able to preserve energy because I’ve developed a morning routine that allows me to pour into myself before trying to pour into others.

Another shout out to the fact that I share any category with two of my faves: Uncle Barry and Oprah.

Okay, now to the flaws.

Overly idealistic: I hold my values close to me, and when someone tends to lean on the cynical side, I struggle to relate or want to engage with them, because I find it a draining way to live.

However, in the world of business, this trait will eat you up alive.

If you’re kind to people, surely they won’t turn against you?

If you do good unto others, surely they will do good back?

If you have business ethics, people you do business with will as well?

LoOoOoOooOoOooOol.

It only took me a couple really shady experiences to realize, woooooow, Glo, you really was strollin’ through life with a rose-colored lens, seeing the world how you hoped it could be, rather than how it actually was.

Some lessons need to be learned the hard way, and I’m super thankful for the people that took advantage of me or tried to get one over on me, because it exposed a weakness in myself that I’d yet to confront. Click To Tweet

While I want to tell entrepreneurs that growing a business is a thrill, the hard truth is this:

If you are truly looking to build something great, get ready for the snakes to come out.

In droves.

It’s the people you least expect as well.

And when it comes to the B2B world, a company could see you needing their services more than they need your business, and so tacking on an extra $10K to the price tag because they can, isn’t out of the norm.

Money talks and there’s a lot of people who only see dollar signs when it comes to running their business.

I don’t think I’m in the minority when it comes to genuinely wanting to serve from a place of compassion, but it’s a matter of time before you might mix with the wrong people.

It’s a side of the business world I refused to acknowledge and therefore was so blind-sighted by the act that I had no choice but to change my narrative and take back control over how and who I would allow into my world.

When people know that you love to help others, they become too reliant on you to the point that you don’t even realize you’ve overextended yourself far beyond your boundaries should allow.

But because I’m so caught up in delivering results, I can’t even see that I’m literally just digging myself into a hole of mismanaged expectations and effort.

I’m just no longer apologizing for the boundaries I’m putting in place to protect my peace and guard my energy.

Car Insurance Cost in NYC?

I have a question regarding car insurance. I'm 29 years old. I've been in 3 car accidents but was not at fault for any of them (2 of the times my car was sitting still! lol) and I've never gotten a ticket for any of those accidents. I used to have insurance through State Farm, full coverage for a 2004 Jeep Liberty that cost 50-60 a month in upstate NY. While driving to NYC one winter I got a speeding ticket, my first ticket ever! I was going I think 82(?) in a 65. This was just before I moved to NYC, and because I got the ticket in a podunk little county I was driving through I had no idea what the name was, the ticket flew out my door and I lost it. I figured they would mail me something else to tell me the payment was late but I never received anything else about it. Well I found out later it was because I moved, even though I moved about 2 months after the fact they wait quite a while to send another notice, and I never received it. Thus, my license was suspended but I never knew. I never got caught driving without it either. So I moved here in 2007 with my Jeep which I was very behind payments for, and then it got towed away for alternate side parking BS. I could have borrowed the money back then to pay to get it out but I let it go. Alright so long story short, I don't have the truck, it was auctioned. I'll be done paying for it through a collection agency settlement offer this May. If I had kept the truck, I would be paying 200+ more a month than I pay now, and I wouldn't have been done paying it til August 2011. Plus I would have had to pay to catch it up the 3 months I was behind, plus pay my boyfriends brother back who was willing to lend me the money to get it out of the car jail (lol) I had the suspension lifted last July so I could rent a car, again no issues. So I'm thinking of buying a 2,000 car (cash! I learned my lesson) in June when I'm done paying for the truck and I want to get no fault insurance. I know it will be a lot more here then what I used to pay, and in addition I now have a suspension that wasn't there before. Skincare has become a very important part of my life, Finding the right routine for my type of skin is tricky. While I am not new to the skincare realm I do feel like I have a lot to learn due to how difficult my skin is, I have spent several hundred dollars in the past 7 years on skin care and have bought everything from super low end to extremely high end and Nothing had really done it for me until I started about learning Korean skincare. Unlike Western skin care which tends to have 3 steps, cleanse, serum, moisturizer, Korean skincare usually have 8-10 steps depending on the time of day. Korean skincare methods are much more intense than western methods which seem to yield very wonderful results, you just have to be willing to put the effort into doing all the steps in the routine, which for some can be too time-consuming. 

Hyaluronic Acid is a powerful moisture binding ingredient that keeps your skin super hydrated and plump which is perfect for those who have drier skin or aging skin. Hyaluronic Acid should be used before your heavier moisturizers. I have been using Hyaluronic Acid for about 2 months now and I have seen amazing changes in my skin.

The Hyaluronic Acid is (usually) odorless and colorless and almost has a water-based consistency which is great for even distribution. It is very hydrating and even though my face sucks up moisture like a sponge this I still did not feel dry afterward. Using this product is simple and straightforward and when applying just 2 drops from the dropper, spread across your skin and then tap the product into your skin instead of rubbing it in. Rubbing too much on the skin can cause tugging and can pull at delicate areas of your face where the skin is thinner such as the undereye area. Hyaluronic Acid can commonly be injected into the skin much like Botox, however, I am afraid of procedures like that so I like to keep my skin care topical so this ampoule is perfect for me.

Week one of the hyaluronic acid serum 

The first week yielded Immediate smoothness, while my skin texture was still visible my skin was notably smoother but the appearance of my skin did not chance, my face was noticeably more soft and plump.

Week 2

Week 2 was sort of the same, texture was still notable and visible and I did not see a big change other than my skin was retaining more moisture, the softness and plumpness of my undereye area did become a bit more noticeable. My under eyes have always been very dark and noticeably more sunken as the years go on as I have very bad insomnia and I do not sleep particularly well, sadly when you do not sleep well the undereye area becomes deprived of moisture and without time to properly repair during the sleep cycle can cause that area to sink in due to that lack of moisture, making the dark circles more prominent which makes you look more tired. I have not gotten a good nights sleep in about 7 years so I understood it would take more time than my 4 week testing period for my dark circles to decrease.

Week 3- Please Ignore my eyebrows throughout this review and also I look so odd without bangs lol

Week 3 was a turning point for me, the texture in my face was noticeably reduced and the darkness under my eye was lightening up. Every day, when I would wake up I was always so amazed at how I looked, my skin was so smooth and I was becoming more confident in my skin. The small hormonal acne that I usually have had subsided and when I looked in the mirror I looked close to perfect or what would be close to perfect for me. I didn't know what nice, smooth, acne free, hydrated skin looked like to me considering It was always an unreachable goal for me due to my problematic skin. 

Week 4 

Week 4 was equally amazing for me, my skin looked absolutely beautiful, it was matte but glowing and for the first time in forever I started taking photos without makeup on and I finally felt confident in my skin.

Now here we are at 8 weeks in and honestly, I don't always take photos without makeup on due to the uneven skin texture but now I will happily post my makeup-less photos on Instagram without hesitation while I still have some dark spots they don't really pick up on my camera well which is just fine for me. My skin looks amazing and while it is not flawless It is a huge improvement from where I started. I know Hyaluronic Acid sounds scary but it really isn't, It has become one of my most well-kept beauty secrets this year, my skin is soft, supple and plump and honestly more youthful looking, My undereye area looks amazing and its no longer sunken in nor dehydrated. I rate this product really high and I highly suggest it for you tend to problematic skin, I fully recommend this product. How to get driving license in Dubai. My experience :)

Since there is a driving license post almost every week, I wanted to share how I got my license. Hope this will answer most common questions and help r/Dubai. All the prices and process I’ll be sharing is before VAT and according to the RTA’s licensing system as of November - December of 2017. English isn't my first language so please feel free to correct me :)

    Schools and Pricing :

  After comparing and reading a lot about the schools on reddit, I chose to go to Belhasa. Registration is fairly easy and you need some documents. You can see the pricing for Belhasa in the attached link below. Some of these fees are from RTA so I believe its standard for every school. If anyone has the pricing for other schools please share with us.

  Let me clarify little bit about the prices, there are few options you can choose from.

  Regular (the cheapest option) AED 60 per class

  2 days a week 4 classes per day. Totaling to 8 classes per week so it will take you 5 weeks to finish your 40 classes. Fixed timing and days. Which means if you choose Sunday you have to choose Wednesday. And the timing is fixed as well. 2 hours per day.

  Me being the poor me, I chose this option. Luckily I work in a job where I get my off day on weekdays, so I chose Sunday and Wednesday 8.30am to 10.30am.

  Shifting (Flexible) AED 100 per class

  3 days a week 4 classes per day. Totaling to 12 classes per week so it will take you 3~ weeks to finish your 40 classes. You can choose the days and timings as per your linking!

  VIP (Fastest) AED 150

  4 days a week 4 classes per day. Totaling to 16 classes per week so it will take you just 2~ weeks to finish your 40 classes. You can choose the days and timings as per your linking.

  Friday AED 80

  Only Friday classes. Totaling to 4 classes per week so it will take you 10~ weeks to finish your 40 classes. There are 3 time slots you can choose from.

  Weekends AED 150

  Classes will be on weekends. Totaling to 8 classes per week so it will take you 5~ weeks to finish your 40 classes. There are 3 time slots you can choose from.

  Night AED 70

  2 days a week 4 classes per day. Totaling to 8 classes per week so it will take you 5 weeks to finish your 40 classes. One time slot only 8pm-10pm.

  Students get student discounts, please refer the link.

  *These are the options given by Belhasa, other schools might have better options at better rates, but personally I will recommend you to stick with Blehasa and EDI. My colleagues chose DDC and Galadari beacuse they got discounts.

  If you already have license in your home country you can choose to have 30 or 20 classes!

  If your license is 2-5 years old you can take 30 classes,

  If your license is 5+ years old you can take 20 classes,

  I had license in my country for more than 5 years, but I have been in Dubai close to 5 years, and in my country we drive on the right side. And roads and drivers are vastly different from Dubai. So I chose 40 classes even though I could have taken 20. If you are very good and confident choose 30! (I know I should have 😉 cz it gets boring after sometime)

    Registration :

  This is fairly straight forward, go to any branch and tell them you want to open a file. You have to carry enough money for the registration and eye test. And you need these documents:

  Passport or Passport and visa copies.

  Emirates ID

  4-6 Passport size photos

  NOC – if you are in a category 3-5 job this is a must and it has to be with the seal of the company. This should be addressed to RTA and has to mention the category name** (In my case it was “License for **Light motor vehicle”). These are must and it won’t be approved if it doesn’t meet any one of the said criteria.

  If you are on individual visa you need the NOC from the sponsor and his Visa page copy.

  And if you want to deduct the number of classes you will have to carry the original DL from your country.

  Eye test from a RTA approved test center. Cost 150-250dhs

  You basically have to pay only the registration fee. But carry enough money to pay for the registration and the 8 theory classes. Around 1200 will be sufficient depending on your school. I paid 1500 DHS which included registration + theory classes and RTA theory exam fee (310 DHS)

    Theory test :

  You have to complete 8 theory classes before you can reserve your date for the exam. You have two options to finish your theory classes. You can either go to the driving center (Not the branches) sit through the lectures which usually happens on a weekend. Or you can do it online. I did it online and it was really easy and convenient. You can download the RTA app and do the mock exams, the mock exams have 80% questions from the actual exam. There are few videos to train you to understand the hazards. This is a bit tricky but choose the first hazard you see.

  After this you go to your exam on the selected date and time. Click through it and you will get your results immediately. If you pass you can start your classes.

  35 questions 5 videos total 40 marks. You have get above 30 to pass.

    Instructors and Classes :

  As I mentioned earlier I chose the cheapest option that was available, so I didn't get an option to choose the instructor but they told me I can change the instructor anytime I want incase I don't like the instructor.

  Females have an option to get a male instructor with an additional cost of 10dhs per class.

  Now the funny part is you never know how good or bad your instructor is until you compare him with someone else, but almost all the instructors in belhasa has good track records.

  First day you have to drive inside the driving school for an hour. Just round and round it goes. Super boring if you can drive already but since I opted for 40 classes I had to do it.

  I don't speak any language other than English and my mother tongue. So the classes were conducted in English and the instructor had fairly good communication skills. He thought me ALOT of things that I didn't know.

  Unfortunately after doing 36 classes with the same instructor, he went on his vacation and I got another instructor.

  Both were really good instructors, but both were using their phones while I drive and not really paying much attention to the road or my driving. I took this positively, thinking my driving is good enough for them to feel safe. Haha.

    Parking and yard test :

  After completing 16 - 20 classes ask you instructor to prepare you for parking test. Then if he agrees you will have 1-2 days classes dedicated for parking, emergency braking, and parking on a climb.

Parking test will be easy if you know what you are doing, local examiner will assess you. And if you fail one type of parking you only have to repeat that, but you will have to pay for extra classes and the exam fee again. So try to do it all in one go.

  Tips -

Do not dry steer (turning the wheel when the car is stationary) this is an immediate fail.

  Forget about the accelerator, just focus on the break paddle.

  Even though it’s done in the yard and there will not be any cars around, do head checks and mirror checks. In the hill test there will be a stop line, make sure you stop there for 2-3 seconds.

  Greet the examiner, wear nice cloths (I wore polo and chinos) and be pleasant. Subtle perfume will help 😉

  The girls and guys who went before me didn’t do head checks and they were nervous af. Take your time, you get 5 minutes for parallel and 3 minutes for angle and garage parking. That’s plenty!! So take your time. Actually I had to do extra maneuvers in the garage parking, but maybe because I did the imaginary head checks or because I smelled good…. he passed me! The whole exam took around 5 minutes to complete.

    Night classes and Highway classes :

    After the parking test you have to do more classes (Yawn), and you have to do one mandatory night class where they will teach you about lights and night driving- Duhh!! But this will be done independently from your normal class days so check your calendars.

    Assessment test :

  When you do around 36 classes you can do the assessment test. This is done internally without any involvement from RTA. This is where schools try to extract money from you. So be careful. Belhasa was pretty chill about the whole thing, but I did stupid mistake I changed the lane without examiner telling me to (I changed because every time I take that road with my instructor, he will shout at me for not switching the lane), that’s an immediate fail (not following examiners instructions) but since I pretty much nailed everything else he passed me and assigned me additional 12 classes which cost me 720dhs (60x12). ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  After competing that test, you get your highway classes. Pretty fun stuff! You get to drive at 120mph in al-ain highway.

  After highway classes you will have newly introduced “independent driving” classes. Which is kinda tough if you don’t know the roads, basically there are 3 routes from your driving school to nearby places assigned by RTA. You will have to independently navigate and drive to those places. Apparently they are going to implement this in the final exam from next year. Lucky for me, not-today good sir, not today.

    Final test :

  The moment you have been waiting for! The boss fight! Technically this is just like the assessment test which is done internally but now by RTA. Depending on your examiner you will have to drive for 5-15mins.

  Tips-

  Same tips as parking test (See above)

  Choose the time of your exam at round 9am to 11am, if evening at around 3-4pm. Basically make sure you choose a time when the roads are not that busy.

  Check the door indicator, adjust the seat AND the steering. Adjust the mirrors. Turn back and ask the other passengers to fasten the seat belt, and say “thank you”

  Check the mirror every 10-15 seconds, check before you break. Exaggerate these checks so the examiner will notice that you are checking.

  Turn your head and check the roundabouts and intersections before you approach them (50m to 100m ahead), then check the center mirror before you slow down.

  Be calm af, have a pleasant smile on your face.But don't drive slow or take too much time entering roundabouts and changing lanes.

  Trust me, I finished my work at 12 midnight and went to “sleep” at around 2am woke up at 6.30am and my exam was at 9.10am. I was so bloody nervous I had nightmares of me failing the exam ☹ I didn’t sleep well at all. They will ask you to come 30mins early for the exam. This wait nearly killed me, I vomited a little bit in my mouth. LOL

  Now the funny part is, when I got in to the car I asked me self

  3 guys, 1 car, 1 examiner. My name starts with “Y” so I was going last.

  1st guy – Drove extremely slow, he entered the freeway and drove at around 60kmh. And when he had to switch lanes he tried to kill us all.

  2nd guy – he was driving on the right most lane which will turn right ahed and Examiner told him “drive straight in the main road” notice how he didn’t tell him to switch the lane?! This guy didn’t switch, the examiner repeated “go straight in the main road” but nope, he repeated again but this guy didn’t switch and he turned right. -_- you guessed it - Fail.

  Me guy – Drove little above the speed limits where possible and switched lanes after doing all the mirror checks. I had to drive much longer than the other two guys. Around 10-15mins which felt like a lifetime.

  Confidence is key. Trust me when I say this, drive like a driver not like a student. I passed in the first try.

  Now I see people here complain how racist and how skin color will get you the pass. But I’m a brown dude from south Asia who doesn’t even speak any other language except English. I don’t know anyone at Belhasa or RTA (dunno if that helps at all, LOL) I didn’t do VIP in fact I took the cheapest option. No wasta.

  Now this is what happened with me, it will be different for you and for everyone else. But I hope this will help you guys, and if you have any other tips and tricks please comment so anyone who refer this will learn. I learnt a lot of tips and tricks reading r/Dubai You guys are awesome!!

how was your day off? what did you do?

Oh. My. God. My Day Off™ (as we shall be referring to it) was AWESOME! Mediocre in some regards, but we must remember it is not the extravagance of the act but the freedom to act itself that made my Day Off™ so good, and why I have been looking forward to it for weeks! This is gonna be a long one, because I am so excited to talk about it, so strap in friends. Let’s go! We shall begin, as all stories must, at the beginning. Saturday 18th of November. 12:30AM. I have just finished work, my cousin’s funeral had been on the Friday, and I had been working in my family’s pub at the wake, (big Irish Catholic fam, take the stereotypes and multiply them by a random number, you’re probably right) and after finishing cleaning and making sure my bar is absolutely spotless, my aunt and I finally locked up. It was now, officially, my Day Off™. The first thing I did was crack open a beer. A Miller’s. I’m not usually a fan of American beer (because in all seriousness most of it is catpiss) but this? This beer? This beer which I was able to sit in my kitchen, speaking to friends, and just Enjoy™? It was the second best tasting beer I have ever tasted. I went upstairs, having informed the world through Snapchat that for the next 24 hours, I was free, and just stripped off. I just got to stand there, had a look at the scars on my back, my leg muscles, the bruises and cuts on my arms. Life. I realise I’m always rushing about, always from one thing to the next, sometimes that takes a tole on your body and while that’s nothing to be ashamed of, as I stood there naked I decided that sometimes I was a little hard on my body, the only one I’ll ever have, and I’m gonna look after it a little. After all, it’s my body’s Day Off™ as well. I ran a bath, I don’t usually get a chance for a bath, but my aching muscles needed it. One of my best friends, Carol, works in Lush and for my birthday a few months back she got me a bath bomb, so it seemed I was going all out this evening. It was 1:15AM. The bath was heavenly. I got to take care of myself, my body, my spirit felt rejuvenated, I got an opportunity to shave for the first time in a while, and when I stood up to get out of my bath, I felt prepared for the coming day. Just as I went to enter my bedroom, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror in the spare room, it wasn’t the same body that went in, it truly looked relaxed. It felt it too. 1:45AM. I’m still 100% awake, I’ve had a coffee and I decide to catch up on some shows I’ve not had the opportunity to see because of life. The latest episodes of Flash and Arrow, I’m excited for the 2 night crossover event and put the date in my planner. I switch to Designated Survivor, a show on Netflix that I’ve become addicted too and although it’s very “feel good, good guy always wins, moral of the story is...” kinda show, there’s nothing wrong with that. I love it! It’s about 4AM now, some sleepiness has started to come over me, my eye lids are getting a little heavier and I know I’ll be sleeping soon. I give myself a long sleep when I set my alarm, for about 11AM, because I deserve it. Why not, eh! The sleep was perfect, I had wonderful dreams about my friends, about the Reading and Leeds Festival during the summer, and when I woke up it was naturally with no alarm blaring, no one knocking on my door reminding me I have responsibilities. It was 10:45AM. I get up, stretch and go make myself some breakfast, no one is home (and won’t be until 7PM) so I don’t bother even dressing. There’s something strangely liberating about being able to wake up, walk downstairs, make and eat breakfast naked. But I’ll move on, I’m sure no one wants to hear about THAT hahah! When I’m deciding what to wear for heading into Glasgow, I pass over the darker colours of my wardrobe, no greys or blacks today, no today I want to walk down the street and feel awesome! I settle for my blue tight-fit gym t-shirt, my red tartan (plaid?) shirt to go over it, blue jeans and a pair of nice brown winter boots I bought a while back and never really had the chance to wear. I’m wearing my expensive underwear, it’s comfy and I feel great. To cap it all off, my blue double breasted long coat, the very same one I wore when I was 17 and walked into my last year of High School. I have a special connection with this coat, and I always feel great wearing it! I pack my bag, not of study material for today I refuse to study, but with my notebook and planner, a book I haven’t had the chance to finish in months, some snacks and a can of Arizona Green Tea. I wrap my scarf tightly around my neck and I walk out into the world! I catch the 11:21AM train into Glasgow, I’m going to get my phone screen repaired but I’m not worried. I’m messaging Chelsea, we’ve been talking a lot more recently and I like it. She tells me she’s working today, in Glasgow and I make a note of the time. If I get a chance I’ll pop in a say hello, if only briefly because I know she’ll be busy. I still feel great! It’s about 12PM that I finally get into the City, walking past the Counting House in George Square, I decide to jump in for a quick pint. I know there’s football on today so the place is packed. I only stayed for 30 minutes but I reminded myself I wasn’t jumping from one thing to the next today, I was under no obligation to hurry. It felt nice. When I reached the Apple Store, I entered into its clinical environment reminded of how cut off this place is from the rest of the world. I hand my phone in, they quote me a time of around 4/5PM, and when I leave I feel strange. I really am so used to having my phone in my pocket, I fidget with it a lot, I feel slightly cut off and while there’s a brief moment of anxiety, it soon passes. The world in mine today. I visit some shops, most are preparing for Christmas time and all look beautiful. I have about 3 hours to kill, to do what I want. As I’m passing by the Stairs at the Buchanan Galleries Concert Hall (if you’ve ever been in Glasgow you’ll know the ones) and am hit with a sudden wave of nostalgia. I’ve had so many good memories here; shopping trips with my parents as a kid, summer days as a teen, first kisses, teenage crushes, political rallies, moments of pure peace and moments of excitement! I’ll be truly sad when they are gone to make way for something else but I smile as I head to the cinema. There’s only one thing for it today, Justice League! I’ve been so excited for this! I can’t wait to see my childhood heroes come together, I haven’t been this excited for a superhero team up film since the Avengers all those years ago! I pass by the machines that let you book tickets immediately, and go to stand in line. Not because I don’t want to use the machines, but because I very rarely get to go through the excitement of the cinema experience. Standing in line, buying a ticket, talking with the people and what they think of the film. Again, it’s the freedom to do it that I am enjoying! It’s about 1:20PM. The film is beautiful, so fantastic, and while this blog post isn’t a film review, I will definitely recommend it! If someone had told little 12 year old me that one day I would be seeing live action adaptations of my heroes, he would’ve cried probably. A slight tear did in fact gather, more of nostalgia than anything else, for the innocence of childhood and how I really do need to remind myself to enjoy the little things more. When I leave the film, the wind and cold hit me but I’m smiling and very happy! I jump into the Apple Store to check how the phone is coming along and they say about half an hour until it’s finished. I thanked the lady and decided I have time to jump in to Chelsea’s work, say hello, and grab a coffee. I just hope it’s not too busy! When I walked in the door I managed to get a look at her without her spotting me. She was so excited to get this job, and I can definitely see why! She seems in her element, and happy! We speak briefly, joke a little, I pick up my coffee and go sit in the corner. I’m in no rush. I bring out the book I’ve been reading throughout the day in the small moments I get between things, and finish a couple chapters, I’m so close to the end! My coffee tasted great, extra caramel, whip cream and all! Just as I check my watch for the time I see it’s 4:15PM, but because I promised myself there would be no rushing today, I stay seated. My drink isn’t finished, and I’m enjoying my book. I give it another 10 minutes and as I go to leave I try to say goodbye to Chelsea, although the shop is quite busy now and I’m not sure she heard me. No worries though! I do make a promise to try and see her more often, maybe we could do something around Christmas time, but I put it from my head and leave to pick up my phone. I am content. The people at Apple were very nice, I had expected to be paying upwards of £100 for this new screen, but I was told that I was under warranty and it wouldn’t cost me a penny! I am elated! This day just gets better and better and better! I check my watch and see it’s about 4:25PM, and start walking to High Street. There’s music in my ears, memories of a good day in my head and happiness in my heart! I could have went to Queen Street, it’s closer but as I say again, it wasn’t the need to hurry that was driving me today, but the choice to relax and enjoy myself. The walk was very nice, the train journey nicer. I managed to finish my book, and while we all know the emotions around finishing a book you’ve been trying to read for months, I was very very happy. I used the train WiFi to but some Christmas presents for my niece and nephew, and when I got home, into the heat, there was no collapse of exhaustion. No falling onto my bed dramatically, I got into my pyjamas and jumped into bed. A quick nap, I deserved it. When I wake, it’s about 8PM, I’m rested and feel hungry and decide I don’t want to cook tonight, I’m going to treat myself to a pizza takeaway! I spend the rest of the night talking to friends, messaging Chelsea, eating and playing some of the new Assassin’s Creed. I can’t remember what time I went to sleep, because I didn’t need to worry about it. The day ended with complete contentment, my heart felt light and my head cleared. My Day Off™ had been perfect. Did I do much? Maybe not. But everything I did do was because I COULD! Let’s look at it like this; I slept late, got my phone fixed, did some Christmas shopping, saw a film I’ve been excited about for a long time, saw a girl I hadn’t seen in months, had great coffee, ate great food, napped out of deserving not out of exhaustion, played some video games, and fell asleep at a time I didn’t need to worry about. No studying. No work. No responsibilities. Perfect. And that my friends is the very long story of my Day Off™. It was one of the best days I’ve had in a long time. I hope I get another some point soon. Thank you for asking Anon, that was very nice of you. I just woke up about 20 minutes ago, it’s 8:18AM, Sunday 19th of November. It’s no longer my Day Off™. And life is good.
