This Town by Niall Horan reminds me of Stucky.

for those who have no idea what I’m talking about. Please stay regardless.

And for those of you who don’t know what stucky is, stucky is a gay ship between Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier) also know as Stevebucky or Steve x Bucky. Whatever you choose. Shipping them in any universe is fine just as long as you are aware of the fact that Bucky is a teen while Steve is an adult in many of the comic universes and thus don’t ship them in those. Other than that, happy shipping!

For starters, the main bit of the song is “If the whole world was watching I’d still dance with you, drive highways and byways to be there with you.” The meaning Niall intended was essentially, I don’t care what other people think of it I love you and wanna be with you, which works pretty well for Steve and Bucky since they were literally born pre WWII. That lyric works so well for their time because of the way lgbtq people were treated at the time. Even the “…drive highways and byways to be there with you” fits perfectly because of the whole “I’ll be with you till the end of the line” thing and the quote from TFA where Bucky goes “The little guy from Brooklyn who couldn’t stay out of a fight. I’m following him.” Although I mostly ignore canon for the sake of this ship, we can still keep the fact Steve and Bucky continuously found each other. They literally went through so much trouble just to be together. (Even if you don’t ship them, that’s pretty much the plot of the cap movies. Steve is motivated to save Bucky. Just for the sake of this post, please ignore Endgame. Great movie, I ignore it as far as canon goes.) Besides all the wars and things Steve starts for the sake of Bucky, Bucky does a lot to protect Steve too, and even though I usually ignore it he even went into cryo again because he didn’t want to be a danger. Now, for a more literal standpoint, I head canon based on some other stuff I need that Bucky really likes to dance (even though he won’t usually show it around anyone but Steve or for the sake of pre-serum, dames he was trying to impress). He taught Steve to do it, and after he’s improving mentally and starts getting more comfortable/confident, (and especially after they start dating) he consistently asks Steve to dance with him. After Bucky gets even more confident as he’s doing better then they especially don’t care, and my little headcanon can be implemented in the literal canon thing I described above. That’s the thing I love about This Town, is that it fits both canonically for the most part and for lots of headcanons and fanfiction stuff.

You wanna know the best part about this song? There’s more. For the sake of your time and mine, I’m going to summarize it the best I can, but no promises.

The beginning of the song goes “Waking up to kiss you and nobody’s there. The smell of your perfume still stuck in the air.” Which works well if you like to count Endgame (and ignore the fact that it says kiss) since Steve left Bucky. It even works before Steve found about Bucky being alive since he is so motivated by the other. In continuation, “yesterday I thought I saw your shadow running round” was quite literally what Steve did consistently after he woke up in the 21st century. He swore that he saw Bucky everywhere. (It didn’t help that The Winter Soldier was mostly a ghost story.) You can also use it for pre-serum Steve since Bucky was constantly looking down alleyways to keep Steve out of trouble.

okay this post is gonna be really long because I just thought of more lol.

“And I want to tell you everything, the words I never got to say the first time around.” This one mostly only works if you ship Stucky, but that’s mostly the point of this post. How I imagine their love story is that they both were in love before the war (refer to tons upon tons of Pinterest and tumblr posts) and they tried to write letters to each other to confess and they either never got sent, got lost, or who knows what. (There are actually fan made letters somewhere on the internet that you can find for this). After they both find each other and whatever, this is when they get the second chance to telling each other everything “the words I never got to say the first time around”

and then of course there’s “and I remember everything” which is ironic because of Bucky’s brainwashing problem, but Steve still remembers everything so there’s that. And it gets better: “from when we were the children playing in this fairground”. Well, obviously as Bucky gets his memory back he remembers more, I mean like I’ve said I don’t tend to count the movies as canon however, he quite literally told Steve that he remembers “your moms name is Sarah, and you used to put newspaper in your shoes.”

of course there’s a couple bits of the song that don’t match well, but depending on what you believe you can interpret how you want, because that’s what 99.9% of music is.

While “I saw that you moved on with someone new” doesn’t quite fit, there’s “in the club that we met he’s got his arms around you”. Although they met in school, there’s still those times Steve was with Peggy and you can imagine how hard that must’ve been for Bucky.

also “and I know that it’s wrong, that I can’t move on, but there’s something about you” doesn’t entirely fit if you read it the way Niall probably intended it, however. Between Steve waking up in the 21st century and finding out that Bucky was in fact alive, you can imagine that he felt bad for not being able to move on from his best friend that he loved so much.

Finally, there’s the last lines (which are repeated throughout the song but I mean hey). “You still make me nervous when you walk in the room, butterflies they come alive when I’m next to you” Bucky is found to be alive, Steve feels all sorts of emotions at the sight of his best friend. If I wasn’t lazy I’d post the reaction shot of Steve from catws. If you ignore endgame, it’s also pretty evident that the two would be happy to have each other back, and as a plus, works pretty dang well as far as fanfiction goes.

then of course the last last lines are “over and over the only truth. Everything comes back to you” which FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD, IGNORE ENDGAME UNLESS CONVENIENT, GREAT STORYLINE, NOT CANON FOR THE SAKE OF THIS POST. Other than endgame and probably pretty much the motive for the entirety of their relation/friendship. Is there whole thing. They keep coming back to each other. They always find each other no matter what. They fight literally and metaphorically with each other in sync, and they are always saying they’ll be with each other til the end of the line.

Cave dragons are among the apex predators of the underworld, always hungry and ready to ravenously devour just about anything they encounter. The living, the undead, plants, effectively anything organic is viable food for a cave dragon. Few alliances last long with a cave dragon, and all are non-starters unless a sizable bribe of treasure or food is offered up. On occasion they will join one side of the underworld wars, usually in exchange for eating most of the dead once the battles are over.

Long and thin, they crawl through narrow tunnels using their stunted wings like forelimbs and a massive number of short tendrils along the side of their body to help slide across the stone of their realm. When young they are white like limestone, getting darker with age but always similar to the color of stone to allow them camouflage. They have no eyes, instead using incredible senses to traverse their environments with no hindrance. Long spikes cover much of their bodies, acting both as additional sensors to sense the slightest movement in stone they touch and as able to be flared up to impale other creatures and block tunnels to prevent creatures from outflanking them.

For all their power and dominance of the underworld, cave dragons rarely grow to truly ancient ages. Their slow burrowing and massive appetites means they often strip their territory of food and are unable to find their way to further fertile ground before starving, keeping their population lower and weaker than they otherwise could be. Sometimes a desperate dragon will find its way to the surface to feed on the more available food there, but their earthbound movement and lack of sight leaves them incredibly vulnerable.

Part 2:

Haymitch spent his lunch on Monday eating a couple of microwave burritos and grading his History class's essays on the post-Civil War reconstruction.

Someone knocked on his door. He looked up, and it was Katniss Everdeen from his AP History class. The girl didn't say much in class, but her work was decent. Also, she'd been at every wrestling match this year.

"Now, now, I haven't even graded your essay yet. You'll get it back by Friday," he told her.

"No, this is about Health class," she said.

Oh and she was in his brand new headache as well.

She continued, "Mrs Odair said something about an alternative assignment."

He checked through her lesson plans. "Yep, if students don't get a parent's permission to participate in class, they can write a five page essay on why teenage pregnancy is a bad idea."

"Okay, I'd like to do that."

He leafed through the permission slips and there was one for Katniss Everdeen, signed and filled out.

"You've already turned in your permission slip."

"Right but my mother is a nurse," she replied, "So I already know all about that stuff."

"Uh-huh," said Haymitch, "You'd rather write a five page essay - single spaced by the way - and sit in the library for the next week than do a couple easy worksheets and a half page about a love song."

"Yes." She was scowling at him. He liked it when she turned that scowl on the refs if they made a bad call. Didn't appreciate quite as much when it was directed at him though. Oh well. She was sixteen. What was the worst she could do?

"'Fraid I can't let you do that." He might have let it slide, but he figured she could use all the help she could get.

"Why not?" Katniss asked.

"Well for starters the alternative assignment is mainly for - don't tell Principal Trinket I said this - religious nut jobs who think learning about condoms will somehow turn their precious babies into devil worshippers. And secondly, how many AP classes are you in, kid?"

"Three," she muttered, still scowling.

"Bet you're taking pre-calc too."

"Yep."

"For cryin' out loud, health class is supposed to be an easy A. Don't do a five page essay if you don't have to."

"But its not relevant to me-"

"Nope," Haymitch responded. Like hell it wasn't relevant to her. Between the way that Hawthorne kid on the basketball team spoke about her in the locker room and the way Peeta always looked to her spot in the stands after every single bout, that girl was knee deep in romantic messes, whether she wanted to be or not.

"Fine!" She stormed out of his classroom.

Haymitch went back to his burrito.

E period rolled around and the students put their completed assignment into Annie's color coded turn-in box.

Haymitch took attendance and then leafed through the assignments to find one to start the discussion with. Thom's was relatively benign. "I'll Be Watching You by The Police," he read for the class, "This is my mom's favorite song, but I just think it's creepy. Well, class, let's see who's right, this student or his mother."

He pulled the song up on YouTube and let the class watch while he looked through the rest of the papers. Delly Cartwright had a decent one. Cato's submission was... definitely worth discussing.

After the class agreed not to be creepy stalkers, he went with Delly's song choice: Kid Rock's All Summer Long.

During the song, Principal Trinket slipped in and took an empty seat in the back of the classroom.

Meanwhile he kept reading through the papers. He got to Katniss Everdeen's submission. Instead of her usual precise penmanship, the assignment was submitted in an angry scrawl. It read "I chose Someone Like You by Adele. She was correct when she said "Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead," but she missed the part where if your love dies you'll just stare at a wall for two months and leave your eleven year old to keep your life from completely derailing. Like I said, this assignment isn't really relevant to me, because I'm never ever going to fall in love."

Well shit. That certainly explained some things. He made a mental note to email the school counselor and get her some professional help, but for now he had to go on with the lesson.

When the song was over, he told the class, "I have a small correction to my lecture from last time. It has come to my attention that I should only be using anatomically correct terms in this class. Last time I told you 'It's all fun and games until your dick falls off.' Please correct that in your notes to 'It's all fun and games until your penis falls off.'" He smirked at Effie. "The sentiment stands. STDs are no joke, kids. Anyway, we just finished this lovely tribute to teenage stupidity. Anyone wanna tell me where Kid Rock went wrong?"

Delly Cartwright raised her hand and brought up consent, which was the point she'd made in the paper too. One of the dipshits in the middle said something stupid that made his buddy laugh.

Haymitch called out, "Now if you two chuckleheads need whiskey to get a girl to sleep with you, that says more about you than it does about the girl. But we'll be talking more about consent later in the lesson. Anyone else?"

Someone brought up that it was illegal to have sex in a public place, which was an excellent point, but they missed on the main problems with that song, "Location, location, location," he told them, "If it doesn't have a good place to go to the bathroom and clean up a bit afterwards, the girl could end up with a UTI, which are a pain. Then of course there's the sand that gets everywhere. I mean, it's better than the wrestling mats, which is a ticket to a staph infection in a very uncomfortable location, but not by much."

"Anyway," Haymitch continued, "Next up is the worst submission by far. I will not be playing the song for the class, see Ms. Trinket I can be reasonable, but it's WAP by Cardi B." A few of the wrestlers high fived each other. Time to wipe that smile off Cato's face. "Now, the problem isn't the song selection it's that this guy wrote, 'Girls don't actually get wet like that it's just a myth.' While the song is definitely exaggerating in terms of volume, it is factually correct. There is some accounting for variation in partners, but in general, vaginal dryness is a sign that the partner isn't very good at what he's doing."

And he'd done it again. Absolute silence; even the morons paying perfect attention. Time to move on to consent.

The Hunger Games modern AU where Haymitch is the gym teacher and has to teach sex ed. He starts the week by playing Girls, Girls, Girls by Motley Crue. Then he says, "Don't you ever go to a 'dollhouse' in Fort Lauderdale. You know who does that? Florida men. It's a surefire way to get syphilis. And you know what happens with untreated syphilis? Your dick falls off. Your assignment this week is to bring in a popular song that mentions sex and tell the class exactly what's wrong with it."

The new apprentice at kINK, the tattoo parlor he worked at and would officially own once he finished laundering money for the Cross Syndicate, was proving to be the biggest nuisance in Valerius Warren's life. The last time he let an apprentice crash at his until they got their first two checks so they could get their own place, he'd had a little psycho in his life for... well, forever. But Taney was like a cat that kept it's distance, never in his flat except for a shower and the occasional late night distraction. She'd kept in touch, but was gone just as quickly as she'd come. This kid had thrown a party and though he'd agreed it was exactly the kind of party that went to shit quickly and War had locked himself in his room before he lived up to the nickname. When it seemed like the place had gone quiet, no more opening and closing front door or sound of anyone retching, he climbed into the shower to try and unwind before trying to get a couple of hours of sleep before heading to work. Then the door was jiggled open and he didn't even have time to wonder if someone broke it or if he forgot to lock it. Instead every hard tattooed inch of him was wet and on display for the stranger. Unabashed, the man kept showering, "Don't let me stop you."

I suddenly realized that these are all related to dnd except for my xenomorph tattoo idea. It’s just the right size for my calf and I am terrified to get started on it. It’s going to be a lot of hours on my own calf, lots of pain, and awkward positions. I’d rather tattoo my own foot first with out numbing cream. With my injured knee, both will hurt about the same. As for the dnd characters we have Sononath the demon, he is a jerk face.

Next is Amalia, she is secretly part or full flying siren. She uses a glamour necklace to hide her siren side, it doesn’t cover everything, but she is passable as an Aasimar with brightly colored wings. Her wings are blue to purple, and she has an amazing singing voice. She will be an npc bard, and generally keeps her voice to herself unless in concert.

Next is Ellie (Elizsala) a half drow Druid of the spore circle another npc that uses her staff to send out her protective circle of spores. She has more tattoos than just on her face, she just doesn’t like showing them. They have a glamour effect of looking holographic in the sun similar to an oil stain. Her tattoos protect different areas of her body as she does deal with many dangerous fungi in her research. One is meant to allow her to have kids if she so chooses so they too are not harmed by fungi. Ellie will generally be found in distant towns helping people that are not human, she knows too well human cruelty throughout her childhood. She does carry a kukri (big knife) and does carry a riffle; the riffle is mostly for protection against monsters, and aggressive humans. She is friends with Amalia and is probably the only person that knows her secret that she is actually a feathered Siren.

Rhullia! One of my older characters whom is now an older npc. In the campaign she will look to be in her sixties-seventies, walks with a limp using her casting staff for support and has a dire horned viper as her familiar and mount. She came into ownership of two items from the previous campaign a scroll of creation, and a stone of magical energy. The scroll of creation is a ritual spell that takes a year and a day to cast, and you can create anything, including a humanoid, which may or may not have a soul. The stone of energy of magical energy uses physical energy (like being struck, or submerged into a river,) creates a spell slot for magic users to use. The long it is exposed to physical energy the higher the spell slot that is available. With some research with her previous partner they were able to bring the ritual spell down to a month. Because of dwindling elven numbers she is using these items to create elves. I’ll be using @dingodoodles foreclaimer race as the summoned elves, because I’m that dm that likes bring in morally grey areas. Were they created, or transported? Vrakqrin, a Vrakqrin is one of the big bads in my campaign, he is cruel and holds nothing back in an interrogation. He has been the source of many human and elven deaths (mostly high and wood elves.) he is an Earth Dragonborn (home-brew) Oath Breaker Anti-Paladin and follows the deity Nemesis, whom I’ll describe next. He feels empowered by her blood lust in his mission to kill off the humans and elves of the world of light. He isn’t a fan of drow, but has found uses for them so they can live. Basically he wants to watch the world burn.

Lady Nemesis! She is a chaotic evil Goddess of trickery, war, vengeance, and blood. In my research about her, the general public associate adamentine to her. Her suit of armor and her wings made of swords are adamentine. She loves to be in battle and doesn’t care either way about her followers. She likes being amused, and is curious with what is going on in this world. If you are blessed by a sword from her set of wings be mindful of the long term consequences.

Then finally a fairy, I love when players find round about ways to handle situations. One of my favorites is when my players got past gorgons by helping them find a meal, and offered a safer place for them to live after they had been driven from their home. “Uuuuugh, my heart! You guys are so nice. 😭” this is another example of giving a fairy some milk and honey to help get out of a forest or to be guided to a destination.

“Are you ready?” Ginny asked me putting her hand on my shoulder. “You have nothing to be nervous about, we’re going against Slytherin, it’s a fair cheating game,” She chuckled making me chuckle.

“Yeah fair cheating game,” I repeated grabbing onto my broom. “Harry, Ron, are you ready?” I asked looking over at Harry and Ron who were chatting with each other.

“Never better!” Ron said looking like he was about to jump out of his skin. “We’re totally gonna win, we always do,” He shouted making the whole tent starter routing and shouting, I looked at Ginny who shook her head. “Liquid luck?” I whispred to her, she nodded her head making me roll my eyes.

“Come on, lets go!” Harry shouted getting on his broom and flying out, followed by Ron and everyone else.

“Good luck,” Ginny whipsred grabbing on her broom and flying out followed by me behind her, Slytherins were already out there being screamed at by the crowd. “Look at Dean,” Ginny chuckled pointing at Dean who was flying around getting the crowd willed up.

“Your boyfriends got one hell of a crowd,” I yelled flying out and into position, Ginny gave me a bit of a wave and I went up into the air, waiting for the Quaffle to get up.

“I want a fair and safe game!” Our ref called out tossing the Quaffle into the air, I took it into my hands flying off, Draco came quickly after me, dogging him at every chance and shooting the ball into the hoop.

“Fair and Clean game,” Draco mumbled to me flying off and waiting for the ball to come back. Harry was already gone chasing the snitch, I watched Ginny and Dean team up together and score points and watch points shoot on the other side, the score was tied up and the quaffle was in my hand.

“Fair and Clean!” I shouted at Draco flying right passed him and back onto my side, he quickly came following after me. “She shoots!” I yelled tossing the ball in the air watching it ravel towards hoops.

“Shes gone!” Draco said smirking, I looked behind me, Draco smirked and I was pushing off my broom, the bludger landing right on my chest and my head, both double struck pushing me off, I closed my eyes and my body went cold.

“Oh fuck I’ve never seen anything like that,” George said waking me up. “<she got hit by both of us,” He said in disbelief.

“George shut up,” I mumbled tossing my hand on my head. “I could kill Draco,” I mumbled opening my eyes, Harry was asleep on the chair beside my bed and Fred and George were standing at the end of my bed. “What are you two doing here?” I asked touching my head again.

“Well we heard you were injured and we weren’t just gonna leave our bestest friend alone,” Fred said smirking. “Well clearly you weren’t alone though,” He said looking over at Harry who was asleep still.

“How long has he been here?” I croaked looking over at Harry, he had a blanket wrapped around him and his quidditch uniform was laying on the ground.

“Ron said he’s been here since you got in here, hasn’t left your side since,” George said sitting down. “So tell me, how do you feel,” George asked smiling up at me.

“My head is killing me and my stomach hurts, what happened?” I asked not remembering anything but falling to the ground.

“You got it in the head and chest, five broken ribs, a concussion and a broken arm from falling, what a champ,” Fred said smiling and sitting on the other side of the bed.

“Yeah I can feel the broken ribs,” I corked placing my other hand on my ribs. “How long are you guys staying? Since you know your expelled,” I chuckled smiling at the two boys who were laying down on my bed.

“Until you get better, only at night since we’re not really supposed to be here,” Fred said looking up at me. “How rocking was those fireworks though, sweet and you’ll have to come by our new shop, you’ll love it,” He said grabbing my hand.

“Goodmorning,” Harry croaking sitting up from his seat and looking around. “How long have you guys been here?” He asked Fred and George who stood up.

“We were just leaving, see you tomorrow night,” George said kissing my head and pulling Fred out, they disappeared infront of me leaving Harry and I.

“How are you feeling?” Harry said getting up and sitting down beside me. “You got hit pretty hard by those two bulger,” He said smiling down at me.

“I’m fine, George and Fred told me what happened, but you, you’ve been here the whole time?” I asked smiling back at him, he looked tired and his face white.

“I didn’t want you to wake up and no one was here for you, you’ve been asleep for almost two days, I thought you left me,” Harry croaked grabbing onto my hand. “Don’t ever do that to me again,” He slightly grabbed my hand being careful not to hurt me.

“I should be the least of your problems,” I chuckled holding onto Harry's hand back. “Don’t you have a war to be stopping?” I asked getting slightly concerned.

“For the past two days my mind as only been on you, nothing about Voldemort and fighting him, only you,” Harry said taking a breath. “Your gonna be okay, just some slight bruising when you get out, we won because of you, your last shot got us the win by ten points when the snitch was caught by Draco,” Harry continued saying

“Lay down Harry, we should go to sleep,” I suggested pulling the blanket from under me. “You must be tired sleeping in a chair,” I chuckled moving so Harry could crawl in.

“Yeah sleeping in the chair was kinda sucky,” Harry laughed laying down. “But I wasn’t gonna let you wake up alone, I got Ron and Hermione to bring me food,” 

“Thank you Harry,” I whispred leaning on his chest to lay down. “For everything, my uncles not gonna like this very much when he hears about this,” I chuckled.

“Remus never liked you playing quidditch, can’t imagine the ruckus when he comes here in the morning,” Harry laughed running his hands in my hair.

Hi! I used to read comics all the time growing up but never got into Cable or Punisher; reading your content has gotten me excited about them and I was wondering if you have recommendations for where to start, or any favorite runs/issues?

i haven't forgotten to answer this but i've just been on a sick-work hell cycle for a few days.

i know i posted a lighter easy access cable intro for someone a few months back. search is busted for me on the phone app but 'eyeliner cable' is the inexplicable key phrase that should pull it up. p sure it was in answer to an ask if you have to spelunk the /archives link.

punisher is a bit chunkier to get into because my answer really depends on how much patience you have for bronze era/pre speculation comic art.

huge sections of the original three concurrent titles (the punisher, punisher war journal, and punisher war zone) haven't been digitised but what exists in a few omnibuses and epic collections is the easiest way access to generation two big pun aka the time when he got a sidekick named linus 'microchip' lieberman and became a more well rounded character. sadly that developed characterisation has been whittled away over the past twenty years by editorial punisher bimbofication, but second era frank has a real personality and a pitch black/bone dry sense of humour.

if you don't like """""old"""" comics there's more contemporary stuff i can recommend as a starter pack, but truthfully i'm always gonna be biased toward the jim lee/john buscema/the extremely fucky jrjr-janson periods ie:

unrelated to this ref list but if anyone is a completionist and like 70s-80s era spiderman and daredevil, there's an undigitised omnibus out there that collects some of punisher's very early appearances as an irregular charles bronson-esque antagonist to the good-hearted new york neighbourhood vigilantes.

it costs a gd fortune but your local library might have it.
