*Age: 18
*Gender: Female
*Pronouns: She/Her
*Height: 5'2"
*Sexuality: Pan, Demi-sexual, but prefers men
*Personality: She's outgoing, eager to try new things, as long as she's able to do it perfectly and take her time doing it. She's a bit of a perfectionist, she likes for things to be nice and tidy, she stresses on the importance of perfect things, and tries hard to bring the best out of people so they best they can be.
*Occupation(s): Student, and she works with her friends at the local tavern, they always need an extra hand, or hoof
*Likes: Reading, classical music, studying, school, her friends and family, and working at the tavern
*Dislikes: Disorganization, messes, the like. She's deathly afraid of heights, and dislikes having to run. She doesn't like loud/sudden noises, and she's scared of fire, so she hates it when Avery sneezes. And though she doesn't say anything, it gives her terrible anxiety when Sofia wears her scarf and Avery sits on Emma's head, she's terrified they're going to fall and get seriously hurt, but she's more terrified that if she says anything about it she'll jinx it and then it'll really happen.
*Description: She's a typical height for her species, she's an anthropomorphic white-tailed deer, her fur is a light brown with a large curl on her head, she has a black nose, and orange eyes. Her hands are hoof like, with 3 fingers on each hand, while her feet are just cloven hooves. *She has great hearing, and is usually very aware of her surroundings
*She wants to be a magic professor as an adult
*Lives with her uncle
*Vegan
*Clementines family consists of;
Steven Moores - Uncle, minotaur

· Teleportation, can teleport about 3-5 miles away from her current location, as well as teleport objects, and other people
· Force fields, though they're somewhat weak and can only be used for a few minutes at a time
· Can use blasts/beams of magic to attack others if needed
· Clementine can enter the mind of another living being. The resulting mindscape reflects a person’s life/personality and even contains various beings that reflect a person’s multiple “sides” of themselves. She'd only use it if it was needed, she does not take advantage of this ability.
· Can enchant items for various purposes
· She can project her thoughts into the minds of others at will, as long as they're within her range
· She can use her magic to defend herself against magic attacks
· Has the power of suggestion, can mildly manipulate others thoughts to her will, but rarely uses this ability (this power doesn't work on elementals, or the strong minded)
· Could manipulate elements (water, fire, earth, air, and lightning) if she wanted to, she knows how but she needs practice, and chooses not to use these abilities, especially around Pond

The Browns had a win taken away because of 2 terrible calls
Tumblr media
Derek Carr absolutely fumbled, but the refs blew the play dead. That wasn’t as costly as a reversed first down though.
The Browns were leading the Raiders 35-34 late in the fourth quarter of their game in Oakland in Week 4. If not for an awful whistle from a sloppy officiating crew, that lead would have been even bigger. That wasn’t the only quibble Cleveland had with the officiating. A bad spot late in the fourth quarter took away a new set of downs that Cleveland could have used to run out the clock and hold their 42-34 lead for the win.
On third-and-2 with 1:41 left on the clock, Carlos Hyde pushed it up the middle. The original spot had the ball a few inches past the chain. But an official review thought otherwise. That spot got overturned, and made it fourth down.
Here’s a look at where the original spot was.
So the Browns got a first down on the BAD spot, then it was overturned after they took a close look at what should have been a better spot? Rigged. pic.twitter.com/jDJ4poK4Nr
— Sports Nation Ohio (@SN_Ohio) October 1, 2018
Here’s the NFL’s explanation:
On the spotting of the ball after Hyde appeared to make the line to gain late in 4th qtr of Browns’ loss to Raiders, NFL explains: pic.twitter.com/kNiKUEVbWY
— James Palmer (@JamesPalmerTV) October 1, 2018
The Browns punted. On the ensuing drive, the Raiders gashed them with big plays, eventually scoring on a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jared Cook. They got the two-point conversion too to tie the game.
After the game, NFL vice president for officiating explained that the decision to overturn the call was because of the angles they could see in the central command center in New York. They based their ruling on the fact that the ball was short of the line when Hyde’s elbow was down.
From there, it was back to heartbreak for the Browns. Still no winning record since 2014.
The fumble that wasn’t
Facing third-and-9 from near midfield, Derek Carr dropped back to pass and found his pocket immediately shrunk by Browns pass rushers Myles Garrett and Genard Avery. The two defenders crashed in upon him and jarred the ball loose, where it bounced directly into the hands of defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi. Ogunjobi had just one man to beat and 35 yards to cover en route to the end zone, but he’d never get the chance to put together a Piesman-esque play — officials blew the play dead pretty much at the moment of contract in the pocket, erasing the turnover and saving the Raiders’ bacon, at least temporarily.
Tumblr media
Since the play was the result of an early whistle, it was not reviewable. The Raiders punted away on fourth down netting at least 30 yards of field position in the exchange.
Though it’s of little comfort now, the NFL’s head of officiating later admitted the refs missed this call.
“Obviously, this is a fumble. We should not have blown the whistle,” Al Riveron said in a video. “But because we ruled forward progress on this play, this play is not reviewable.”
Fortunately for the Browns, the ball didn’t lie in Oakland. Three plays after the Raiders’ punt, Nick Chubb broke free for a 41-yard touchdown that got Cleveland the seven points it deserved.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only bad call they’d have to deal with.
And not to let the Browns off the hook completely. They fumbled it twice, threw a pair of picks and had three more three-and-out possessions.

MATCH REPORT
MHRML U15 Premier Division
Sunday 8 October 2017
KO 2.00PM
 Lemsford Tigers 5
Smith (11), Baynes (37, 73 pen), Wiseman (40), Stephens (43)
Hoddesdon Town Blues 2
Amele, Godfrey
Team: Adepoju; Baynes; Connelly; Diviney; Holland; Kilner; Pollard; Scott; Smith; Squirrell; Wiseman
Subs: Botchway; Dickinson; Stephens
Hoddesdon came looking to make amends for their defeat at Tigers’ hands in the pre-season tournament at Panshanger. Tigers, however, had other ideas and, apart from a couple of scares, dominated throughout the match to come away worthy winners.
Hoddesdon Town were definitely up for this one and, getting the game underway, had an early chance after a mix up in the Tigers’ defence but couldn’t convert, hitting their shot wide of Avery’s post. Hoddesdon were soon feeling the pressure and had to resort to hitting long balls up field, hoping their quick striker could get on the end of one of them. Tigers pressure finally came to bear though on 11 minutes when a cross from a quick throw near the Blues’ area found Josh Wiseman at the far post, his header struck the crossbar but Josh Smith was quick to head the rebound in past a helpless goalkeeper. Tigers 1, Hoddesdon 0.
Half way through the first half Hoddesdon broke away down the right and a fine angled shot brought out a great save by Avery who pushed the ball wide for a Blues corner. The resulting in-swinging corner, however, cleared everyone in the box and went out for a goal kick. It was all Tigers’ pressure though and as half time approached a weaving run by Josh Smith was stopped illegally on the edge of the box, giving Tigers a free kick just outside the area. Johnny took the kick, and striking the ball hard and low beat the wall and the keeper’s outstretched right hand to find the bottom corner of the net. Tigers 2, Hoddesdon 0.
On the stroke of half time, Josh Wiseman got his customary goal, a fantastic strike from 20 yards. He picked up a loose ball, played a one-two with Josh Smith, got the ball back, took a step forward finding himself half a yard on the edge of the ‘D’ and smashed the ball into the roof of the net giving the keeper no chance. Tigers 3, Hoddesdon 0.
Tigers started the second half as they’d finished the first, dominating play and having early chances. Hoddesdon managed a couple of breakaways but Tigers defence held firm. Three minutes into the second half, Lucas Stephens, having just come on, made an instant impact. An inch perfect free kick from just inside the Hoddesdon half by Joe, found Lucas who was hanging towards the far back corner of Hoddesdon’s area; Lucas’s spectacular volley found the corner of the Blues’ goal and increased the margin to four. Tigers 4, Hoddesdon 0.
Jack Dickinson was making some lovely runs down the left flank and Lucas Stephens and Josh W were linking up nicely to create a number of chances. Lucas came close in the 49th minute when he rose to meet a great cross from Jack but the keeper just managed to tip his header over the bar. Connor and Josh S were also getting into the action in a one-sided contest that was looking like being a comfortable win. That was until the 53rd minute when Hoddesdon got the ball wide of Tigers’ penalty area, played a low ball centrally just inside the box and a low shot went through a crowded area beating Avery just inside his left hand post. Tigers 4, Hoddesdon 1.
Tigers came back strong but the Blues got their second goal on 67 minutes when, after one of the few Hoddesdon attacks, Lemsford could only clear the ball as far as a Blues player who swung his foot at it, the ball looped into the air and dropped under the bar past Avery’s out stretched hand. Tigers 4, Hoddesdon 2.
Things were a little nervy for a while until Lemsford were awarded a penalty on 73 minutes after Josh W was brought down inside the box. Josh ran on to a lovely through ball and was one on one with Hoddesdon’s big central defender heading towards goal. Just inside the area Josh went down and the ref, who had a great view, didn’t hesitate in awarding a spot kick to the Tigers. Johnny stepped up and powered the ball into the top right hand corner of the goal, extending the Tigers’ lead to three. Tigers 5, Hoddesdon 2.
Tigers closed the game out without any more problems and took the three points.
Final score: Tigers 5, Hoddesdon 2.
Lemsford showed real mettle today with a strong display against a team that resorted to physicality over skill for much of the time and who were out to make a point. This was a fine team performance that stands the Tigers in good stead for the rest of the season. Hares Youth are up next, last season’s First Division Champions, and another good test of this improving Lemsford side.

Titans 33 Seahawks 27 Photo Recap

Titans 33 Seahawks 27 Photo Recap

The game began as a defensive battle for both teams as they combined to boot eight punts in the first quarter.
With 1:23 left in the first quarter, Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman held Eric Decker as safety Kam Chancellor slid over to make an interception. Sherman’s temper got the best of him as he was called for three penalties on that single play. After being given his first warning of being disqualified, he still kept jawing with the refs.

After a field goal by the Titans and another punt by Seattle, the Titans took possession again. Seven plays into this drive, Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota scrambled out of bounds at the Seahawks 36 yard line. After stepping out of bounds, Sherman clocked Mariota with a huge late hit. This was right in front of the Titans players on the sideline. After some pushing and jawing by both teams, the refs called four offsetting penalties. Sherman was not ejected from the game despite the prior warning.
After another Titans field goal, the Seahawks punted again. Their star quarterback, Russell Wilson, fumbled for the second time.  Adoree Jackson would return this punt 80 yards for a beautiful touchdown. However, David Fluellen was called for a block in the back penalty to reverse the outcome.

After a ‘three n out’ drive, the Titans punted. This is when Wilson started to glow. The Seahawks star shook off six punts and two fumbles, to lead the Hawks to a quick touchdown to take a 7-6 lead.  The Titans answered by going right back down the field in one minute and three seconds to kick a field goal and end the half with a 9-7 lead.

Seahawks rookie running back Chris Carson put the team onto his back for the opening drive of the first drive- running four times and finishing up with a catch for a touchdown.

Marcus Mariota hit wide receiver Rishard Matthews for a 55 yard touchdown. The Seahawks punted. Then Mariota led the Titans to another score. This time, Jonnu Smith lined up as a fullback and went uncovered as he left the backfield for an easy catch and run.

Despite some incredible efforts to keep plays alive, the Seahawks punted.  With 1:49 left in the third quarter, DeMarco Murray got two outstanding blocks by fullback Jalston Fowler to race 75 yards down the field for a touchdown.

Murray’s touchdown put the Titans up 30-14 and the game seemed all but over with. However, Russell Wilson was not done finding ways to somehow keep plays alive by finding his favorite receiver Doug Baldwin. He quickly led the Seahawks up the field and completed a touchdown pass to Luke Wilson. Titans nickel linebacker Jayon Brown seemed to suffer a concussion. He was evaluated, passed the concussion protocol, and returned to the game. Wilson seemed well aware and went after Brown by throwing to his tight ends. After a Titans punt came more fancy footwork by Wilson. He was without his favorite receiver due to a groin injury but kept finding Jimmy Graham. This drive stalled, however, on the Titans 28-yard line on a failed 4th down conversion.

Derrick Henry and Jalston Fowler had been wearing down the Seahawks defense. The two bruising backs led by the Titans offensive line were simply too much for the Hawks defense. On the next drive, Terry Robiske sent Murray in a single-back set. The Titans punted shortly after.

Wilson was magnificent yet again. He led the Seahawks down the field for a touchdown by Paul Richardson. Despite starting with 6 punts by the offense, Wilson threw for 373 yards and four touchdowns. After an onsides kick went right to Delanie Walker, the Titans ran a few plays and ultimately ran the clock out to secure a 33-27 victory.
After the game, Taylor Lewan had some choice words for Richard Sherman.

Sport Chumpions (1941)
Sport Chumpions (1941)
A series of unrelated sports gags. Archery: The bullseyes make sense when we see where the archer is standing. Billiards: A trick shot: All the balls move together. Ping pong: The spectators eyes follow the ball... Ski jump: A long, long chute and a very short jump. Track: The hurdlers climb the hurdles like ladders. Swimming: The women's champion turns out to be a mermaid. A men's champion demonstrates strokes, ending with the crawl (on the bottom of the pool, on all fours). We see dives, ending with a seedy bar. Crew: We pull back from the first three precision rowers to see a real mess. Bicycle track racing: "Monotonous, isn't it?" Baseball: A talkative catcher gets knocked back by the ball. Football: Avery Memorial Stadium, with every seat on the 50-yard line one row wide and hundreds tall. On field: The QB calls signals and hops around. A ref emerges from under a pileup: "Is it a touchdown? Mmm, could be." The play is diagrammed into a huge tangle. Auto racing: The winner is...

The Browns had a fumble recovery touchdown taken away for no good reason
Tumblr media
Derek Carr absolutely fumbled, but the refs blew the play dead because...uh...
The Browns were leading the Raiders 35-34 late in the fourth quarter of their game in Oakland in Week 4. If not for an awful whistle from a sloppy officiating crew, that lead would have been even bigger.
Facing third-and-nine from near midfield, Derek Carr dropped back to pass and found his pocket immediately shrunk by Browns pass rushers Myles Garrett and Genard Avery.
Fortunately for the Browns, the ball didn’t lie in Oakland. three plays after the Raiders’ punt, Nick Chubb broke free for a 41-yard touchdown that got Cleveland the seven points it deserved. That put the Browns up 42-34 with fewer than five minutes to play — and gave Cleveland an inside track on its first winning record since 2014.

Winning Season? Swept the Tide? Yup
Two games, two wins. That’s the way to hit your peak at the right time of the season. There are some issues and some kinks that need to be worked out, but this was a week that Auburn could build on for the rest of the season. Auburn is now guaranteed a winning record at the end of the year, and that used to mean a lot on the plains, but this team wants more, and is capable of more.
Also, the sweep of Alabama? No matter what else happens this season, Auburn can count it as a success. I hate those guys.
Last Games
The Alabama game was an anomaly. Rarely can a team get outrebounded by 20 and have only 12 assisted field goals win, much less win the way Auburn did. Auburn had a lead shrink at the end, and ended up with a five point win because it made 15 three-pointers. Auburn shot almost as high a percentage from three as Alabama did from two and that will win games.
Austin Wiley was neutralized by Alabama. The Tide played three forwards and two guards. Avery Johnson is not a dumb coach, so he devised a lineup and matchups to take Wiley out of the game. He threw bodies at Austin and ran his offense through the post so that Austin would have opportunities to get in foul trouble, which happened. Auburn just made so many threes it didn’t matter.
Going into their building, beating them, and beating them with a shot designed to demoralize their fanbase is so awesome. As these two programs continue to recruit so well, these games are going to only get more and more fun for the next few years.
Against State, Auburn turned the Bulldogs over only 13 times, but seemed to score off of every single turnover. That, even more than the ridiculous first half shooting, was the real reason Auburn was able to jump out to such a huge lead. Austin Wiley was a menace in transition and Anfernee Mclemore was able to replace the big man off the bench and Auburn didn’t skip a beat with him in the game.
This was Bryce Brown’s best game of the season, and maybe of his Auburn career. I know, he set records shooting threes last year, and he has had more points than 18 in a game, but he was a basketball player against MSU—not just a shooter. Brown was defending, passing, taking the right shots, and taking care of the ball. It was amazing to see him play 24 minutes and have zero turnovers, two assists and three steals. That is being a positive force on the game. Jared Harper had a really bad night, but Brown picked up the slack. If he can continue to give Pearl these kinds of performances, Auburn can make a run.
Y’all, the refs in the SEC/college basketball are just bad. There are a number of things that bug me about the college game vs. the NBA or European hoops, but the bizarre unique rules and the terrible officiating make college basketball so tough to watch sometimes. I basically just watch Auburn games and the tournament. The NCAA would be better just standardizing its rules and officiating with FIBA and that’s saying something. Especially since so many of these kids end up playing overseas, it would help them to get experience. Ok, HOT TAKE over.
Why Do Wee Keep Blowing Leads?
Great question, Olive Auburnsfans. Auburn blows leads for two reasons. The first is the easiest to recognize: the Tigers are ranked 13th in the conference in points allowed per game, 13th in rebounds per game, and 14th in offensive rebounds per game. Auburn doesn’t do the things that keep leads: getting stops and getting second chance points.
The second reason is a bit tougher to explain. Auburn plays at an extremely fast pace. Auburn tries to shoot with about 15 seconds left on the shot clock. I know this is infuriating to some fans, but it is by design. If Auburn can increase the number of possessions it gets in the game by forcing the other team to play at this breakneck pace, Auburn will run the other team out of the gym. Auburn blows leads for the same reason it builds big leads. If Auburn is making its shots and the opponent isn’t, the pace will make Auburn get out to a huge lead, like we saw in the first half against Miss. State. When Auburn is missing shots, or turning it over, it allows the other team back in the game with more possessions.
“Bruce Pearl needs to teach them to slow it down.” Maybe. Auburn doesn’t have many advantages in the half court against a lot of teams, besides a big center. In transition, Auburn is a deadly shooting team and has guys like Mclemore who can run and get open dunks. Not every team has the ability to play fast and play slow, right now Auburn really doesn’t. Can that come with time? Sure. But it doesn’t even have to. If Auburn can just be more efficient with the ball and score on more of its possessions, it will just run teams out of the gym.
Gimme Numbers
I'm going to need @DrewCrowson to measure McLemore's impact when he's in the game again after tonight. Wow.
— College And Magnolia (@CollegeAndMag) February 8, 2017
OK.
Anfernee Mclemore is a production machine, and was again this week. Against Alabama and MSU, he played 39 minutes. His per minute stats look crazy. He averaged .28 points per minute, .31 rebounds per minute, and .13 blocks per minute. That’s production off the bench. Remember when LaRon Smith used to get minutes? He played a total of five the last two games even though Horace Spencer was out. Mclemore has cemented his role as the first post off the bench, and he isn’t giving that up any time soon. He just doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. When he shoots it, it goes in because he only takes makeable shots. It’s why he is still leading the team in True Shooting Percentage at around 65%
Is Purifoy OK?
Nope. He had zero fouls against MSU, in a game where I think I was even called for two personals. That shows a lack of aggressiveness on defense. He has only taken one two point shot the past three games: a fast break dunk last night. If he could get right, I would feel a lot better about Auburn’s chances of making the big tournament or making a run in the SEC tournament. If he is just healthy enough to sit back and launch threes, Auburn isn’t going to have a ton of success in the post season (unless Bryce Brown stays as hot as he is).
Next Games
Auburn has a road game against Ole Miss and then hosts the Florida Gators. Two games Auburn can win if it plays the way it is able to play. I think Auburn will split these two games. If Auburn does, then it is in a great position to end the season with 20-21 wins. Right now, Auburn is 8th in the conference, but it could work it’s way up in the top five by this time next week.
Final Thoughts?
THE “TIGERS” HOME JERSEY IS THE MOST FLAME EMOJI AUBURN BASKETBALL JERSEY EVER.

Open Starter: Any male 28+ Plot: Based on THIS POST HERE! Your muse has, once again, helped Avery after she had a terrible encounter with her fiancé that left her injured. She's trying to protect your muse from him. Wherever this goes you decide. It can go any direction you want! Also, Avery's horrible fiancé could be anything from mob/mafia/criminal to political or anything to suit your direction for story. [Starter written using beta editor] Trigger Warnings: Abuse, physical abuse, verbal abuse, mental abuse
She had never been a weak woman, not even weak as a little girl. Avery had always been described as strong-willed. Somehow, all of that seemed like a distant memory. It was incredible how a person could manipulate another by playing games with them mentally. She'd fallen for it, and now she was engaged to a man she knew to be a monster.
Yet, here she was, facing another man entirely. Someone who truly cared about her. Who had been there for her every time she'd wound up bleeding, bruised, broken, or crying. At first, she'd thought nothing of it. With time, she had found herself falling for a man she wasn't allowed to. Her fiancé had seen it before she did. He'd given her no lack of threats either. He would happily hurt him if she continued on this path, and if she didn't let him go. Avery couldn't allow it. She could handle being the one hurt, but she would never allow anyone to hurt someone she cared about... loved.
Her eyes fell to where their hands touched, "I have to go... I have to."

Caria💝 Does my muse like Valentine’s Day?
Aylin - 💘 What are the ways my muse says ‘I love you’ without actually saying it?
Aylin: -🌟 What is my muse’s sexual/romantic orientation?: Heterosexual. -🔥 Would my muse ever be up for a threesome?: Depending on the verse, yes. -💘 What are the ways my muse says ‘I love you’ without actually saying it?: Being submissive, letting someone else take control, being affectionate.
Avery: -💦 At what age did my muse lose their virginity?: She was seventeen. -👮 Has my muse ever had sex in public?: Haha, yes.
Caria: -😘 Would my muse have sex on the first date?: Nope! -💕 Would my muse ever be in a polyamorous relationship?: No, definitely not, given she left her husband and divorced him partially for being abusive but partially because he had a mistress. -💝 Does my muse like Valentine’s Day?: Yes, she does.
Emery: -😊 Would my muse ever ask someone on a date?: Yep! -💔 What was my muse’s first heartbreak?: She hasn't really had heartbreaks of her own. She has had a tendency in the past to leave relationships before she can get hurt because she's terrified of someone else hurting her.
Isabel: -👍 Does my muse prefer to be asked on a date, or would they rather do the asking?: She's old fashioned, she'd rather be asked, but she has been the one to initiate before. -💑 What are my muse’s requirements for a potential partner?: Kindness, honesty, and someone who isn't afraid to show emotion.
Madeleine/Mediha (Melisa Pamuk FC): -😉 What are my muse’s fetishes/kinks?: Technically speaking, she doesn't really know. However, she WOULD be the type who once she trusts someone completely body worshipping, sensory deprivation, edging, denial, multiple orgasms, etc etc etc. Honestly, really, she would do VERY well with someone who is dominant and in control... so long as she trusts them and loves them. -💋 How many people has my muse slept with?: Willingly, none. She has a horrendous past, but we don't count that one in this answer.
Catia: -💬 When did my muse go on their first date?: Eighteen. -👀 Is my muse the type to sleep around?: No.
Diana: -💯 What is my muse’s ideal date?: Something that he has planned specifically for them. She loves experiencing things that the person she's on a date with loves or enjoys. -👎 Would my muse ever cheat on their partner?: Never in a million years.
Cassandra: -💗 Has my muse ever been in love?: Not really, although she does believe in it. She simply hasn't found her person. -😳 What was my muse’s worst romantic/sexual relationship?: Someone who tried to get close to her simply to have her killed. It's a hard life being in the criminal world.
Asli: -👠 What was my muse’s last serious relationship like?: She was very much in love, and they shared a mutual love of the arts. They ended up separating because their careers took them in different directions and they never saw each other so they ended up growing apart. -💲Would my muse ever date/marry/sleep with someone because they were rich?: Nope. -👓 Would my muse ever lie for sex?: No.
Maddie (Emilia FC): -👰 Would my muse ever get married?: Absolutely, yes. -👿 Would my muse ever blackmail someone into sex?: No.
Juliana: -🌼 Would my muse prefer a big wedding or a small wedding?: I think it depends on the person she's with and what they would want. She's more of a middle of the line kinda gal, but she would be happy either way. -🎥 Who is my muse’s celebrity crush?: Apparently, Zayn, at the moment. It's kinda a guilty pleasure kinda celeb crush.
Carina: -🍬 Is my muse a sub, dom, or switch?: Subby for sure. -🎀 Who would my muse sleep with if nobody ever had to know?: Apparently it would be Bill Skarsgard. (She's an actress so a fellow actor without the paps knowing is the easiest answer)
Azra: -🏩 What was my muse’s first time like?: She was very nervous, very shy, and the whole ordeal was fairly forgettable, in the end. -💍 Has my muse ever had a one-night stand?: Unlike her older brother, no, she has not. She couldn't.

Titans lose to Jets 7 to 3 in preseason LONG

Titans lose to Jets 7 to 3 in preseason LONG
(Apologies for this being late, we had a site issue last night.)
The Titans first string offense played about a quarter and was unimpressive. The Titans first string defensive front seven was fine, but their secondary was atrocious. The defense played very well, but the offense was poor and it started with the offensive line. I did think I could “see nerves” on many players and maybe there’s a first game jitters mulligan here.
The Jets have a decimated wide receiver corps and are quite weak at receiver. They sure didn’t look it last night. Logan Ryan was “toast” a few times and Adoree Jackson was a step late in the slot and out wide. LeShaun Sims and Bryce McCain were fine, but Josh McCown didn’t even need to test them with the other two allowing so much.
The Titans starting offensive line started a bit rough, but then seemed to get it under control, and then rough again. The Jets have an excellent defensive line and they showed it last night, but the Titans are supposed to have arguably the best line in football. They were terrible at communicating. On one play, Quinton Spain nailed a defensive tackle pushing him a few feet away into the center. Spain went after the defensive end that Lewan was working on. As he turned away, the Jets DT ran right up the middle. No one picked him up. Spain literally could not block any better than that- that’s everything we want, but if Ben Jones isn’t aware and communicating with him, it just won’t work. I think I noticed a similar issue with Josh Kline and Jack Conklin. A defensive end got past Kline and Conklin had the look of “I thought you had him” and tried to recover, but couldn’t. They were certainly disorganized. I have complete faith in offensive line coach Russ Grimm fixing them up, but I wouldn’t say they were impressive last night.

The first half offense was about half two tight end set and half three wide receiver set. I had to go back and look to see that Jalston Fowler did play. He played so little that I missed him initially.
Mariota was fine. He threw three passes. There’s not much to report on him other than that he looked like his usual self.
Phillip Supernaw was excellent as a blocker last night. I’ve called him out before, so I feel compelled to point this out. Tip of the hat to him, he totally stepped up.
Derrick Henry had his chance to shine with Murray out. Henry played with the first and second units and was in longer than expected. He has been dominant this offseason and in the Titans scrimmage. He was setup so well to make a big impression and he bombed. He ran for six yards and then ten yards, (few plays in between) and then five more yards. After that he looked super nervous and just completely fizzled out. He finished with 8 carries for 29 yards. As the Titans second string line didn’t block well, he tiptoed to the line. Us Titans fans know all too well that this isn’t how to run behind a bad line. It was reminiscent of some of “our” runners in 2014 and 2015. Henry knows better and probably never did that in college or as a rookie either. He did last night though. Henry must put his head down and barrel through the line using his speed and size. As a receiving back, he ran right next to the coverage. It was amateurish. On one play, it seemed that he was to read if there is an incoming linebacker to block; if there wasn’t, then he was to get set for a dump pass. He didn’t see the linebacker and Alex Tanney got absolutely lit up because of it. This was the sad point of the night for me. I was really rooting for Henry and he just wasn’t good. As we say in sports, he choked.
Tanney did not play well. He played all three quarters after Mariota left. Again, one needs to remember the 2014 and 2015 Titans because that’s how his line blocked for him. He took a ton of hits as the Jets pressured him dozens of times and probably hit him ten times. We should give Tanney credit for standing in there tough, but that’s it. He was very late with his throws. He had receivers open but waited too long. On one pass to Taywan Taylor he was too early and on a couple deep throws, he threw it too far. Quarterbacks are typically obsessed with timing. Tanney is 29 years old and I’m not sure that he has picked up that trait. Tanney has a four game exhibition. I’ve already read how others are brushing this off because he took so many hits. I’m not. He has three games left (as if) to impress me. I wasn’t impressed last night.
Jonnu Smith played plenty, but I didn’t notice a single pass his way.
The Titans played a 4-3 set on defense for roughly half of the first half. I will write more on this later and include screenshots. This was shocking since they converted to a 3-4 years ago. DaQuan Jones has been the Titans starting defensive end the last two season. He played defensive tackle and nose tackle last night. Angelo Blackson was the other defensive tackle with Jurrell Casey opposite Austin Johnson. That was their 4-3 set when the starters and key backups were in.
Casey had a sack but was called for a penalty. The play was not vicious as he wrapped up McCown. It was a curious call by the refs and Coach Mike Mularkey said he would speak with the league to get a better understanding of the rule there.
Antwaun Woods started for the Titans. A huge kudos to the big fella! The undrafted free agent made it. After Mularkey praising him a bunch this past week, the announcers were mentioning how the staff raved about him during the telecast. He didn’t play a whole lot last night after they went to their 4-3 set.
Jayon Brown’s speed was on display as he caught wide receivers and running backs behind the line of scrimmage. When the starters were in, Brown covered the tight end some too. He did not play inside linebacker as expected. The former UCLA linebacker went in for Brian Orakpo at outside linebacker.
Aaron Wallace replaced Avery Williamson and was terrific roaming the field. Later, he switched to Wesley Woodyard’s ILB spot and was just average.
Kevin Byard was great for most of his responsibilities as a free safety. He got into the backfield and stopped the runner on other plays. I would give him an F as an outfielder though. The Jets had no trouble throwing deep on him and he seemed to pause rather than just run after it. It was probably nerves, but there’s no time to think there. He has to react and “take off flying” after the deep pass.
The Titans showed some exceptional creativity and multifaceted talent later in the game in the defensive backfield. Curtis Riley, Kalan Reed, and Jeremy Boykins each played safety and cornerback while switching up between plays. On one play, Reed was on the slot wide receiver with Boykins behind him as a safety. Reed bumped the wide receiver then swatted the pass away when he recovered. The two of them were talking and debating something between plays. The next snap, Boykins was over the slot as Reed was behind him as a safety. Boykins “flew” to the other wide receiver that caught a screen pass and hit him right away. All of this was fantastic and oh so clever. Each of them played very well and good luck to opposing offenses trying to predict where these DBs will play.
Taywan Taylor got open deep, made an excellent catch, fell onto the cornerback, and then got up and ran in for a touchdown. Since Taylor was technically touched while landing on the cornerback, the refs ruled him down at that spot. Taylor had a few other catches and looked alright. He dropped two passes right to him also though. They were “right there” and he should have had them. On one series, Taylor made a huge oops. He made a nice catch, then ran well on an end around. As he was exiting the field, a play was signaled and he had to turn around to return to the huddle. He is smiling big and waving his hands over his head to get their attention as he runs toward the huddle. He might as well have told the Jets the next play was going to him. The Jets were all over him and he dropped it. That was an elementary mistake. Taylor’s speed, route running, and exceptional “my ball” mentality were evident. It was a joy to see, but he has to clean some stuff up with his game and focus.
Tyler Ferguson came in for two plays while Tanney was examined for a concussion. He handed to Henry and threw a pass to Taylor. That was it. It was odd that he didn’t return. He needs experience as he only threw roughly 50 passes in college. That was an odd decision by Mularkey.
Kevin Dodd, who also sorely lacks experience, didn’t play all that much either.
Josh Carraway looks odd in his 44 jersey. My first thought was “why is a fullback playing linebacker?” He did fine. He covered well and held his own against the run. He didn’t get after the quarterback at all, but for a first game of a college defensive end, I was impressed. It’s evident that he is learning and adjusting well. On a couple Jets runs, he just held his ground and redirected the runner toward the middle. That showed good discipline. Carraway probably doesn’t look like much on the stat sheet, but he looked good and Mularkey singled him out after the game too.
Austin Johnson teased us last night. His awesome athleticism was evident at defensive end. He had little trouble getting past the Jets starting left tackle, but he often paused at the last second. The college nose tackle needs to finish up with smacking the quarterback or running back. He paused as if he was thinking and the Jets tackle recovered then. Experience should bring him comfort where he just reacts at that moment. That should go away pretty quickly and resolve itself. He could have had a real big night and looks to be the perfect compliment to Casey.
Both teams backup punters were terrible. They would punt the ball about 30 yards and the coverage unit was all over the return man. There were almost no returns last night.
Beau Brinkley continues to amaze me. If you want to see incredible hustle, watch him when the Titans punt. He snaps the ball, sheds a defender, and gets to the returner. I just loved his hustle last night.
As I’ve been saying, Khalfani Muhammad looks like he’ll be cut. He was the fifth running back to enter the game and did precious little.
Akeem Judd had a nice forty yard run, but the Titans third string line opened up “the biggest hole you’ve ever seen” for him to run through.
Last year’s backup tackle, Tyler Marz, played right guard and then left guard. He played more than any other lineman. He either blocked well or was thrown aside by a defensive lineman. He had very few plays where he blended in and was one of the boys.
Josue Matias was exceptional. There is just no reason for him to come in third at right guard. He should be starting over Josh Kline, not going in after a Tyler Marz experiment. He was pushing defensive linemen into the linebackers. He knocked a defensive lineman down and then went to get another DL to block on two occasions. It’s really a bit ridiculous now that he isn’t starting or at least in the mix. He was excellent two years ago when they needed a guard and promoted Quinton Spain. Spain panned out and I understand. Last season he was injured. It’s possible that the Titans wanted to see how he’d do in his first game back from injury. His play demands a promotion. Josh Kline did not play all that well last night. There needs to be a camp competition there. He was so dominant against the third string that he looks out of place. If you didn’t notice him, you must go back and rewatch looking for him. It was an absolute joy to see.
David Fluellen did fine. The line blocked poorly on his three runs, so he kicked it outside and tried to make something of it. He picked up blockers well. I don’t see any reason why he is not the Titans third string running back. He’s always got the job done and is simply reliable.
Jonathan Krause took off deep and made a phenomenal dive but couldn’t hold on to an overthrown pass. It was badly overthrown and the effort to get there was awesome.
Jace Amaro and Jerome Cunningham each missed blocks on one series. It was oddly coincidental. It was as if they were showing Jets fans why they are no longer on the Jets.
Denzel Johnson had a pick six during the Titans scrimmage and played very well during their scrimmage/practice at Centennial high school. Last night, when he entered the game, the Jets could no longer throw deep. He shut that down. The college strong safety is looking like he will be the Titans backup free safety. Searcy played some backup free safety as did a trio of cornerbacks that I mentioned earlier. It’s not clear where Johnson stands on the depth chart, but he shut off their deep game like a switch. I was very impressed. Sometimes it’s hard to notice who is deep with the TV angles. Maybe it is that the Titans were burned so often during the recent bad years? I’m not sure exactly why, but his presence shutting things down put a smile on my face. I’d like to say this Titans defensive backfield might not need that as they would have in prior years. After last night, I’m not so sure. The bottom line is he ran all over the field and completely shut down the Jets deep passing game.

NBA teams entered the playoffs with all sorts of little quirks. How did they do when trying to execute them?
Before the NBA playoffs began, I listed 31 set plays and player quirks that these 16 teams use that you need to look closely to discover. Call them the Easter Eggs or the cheat sheet of the NBA Playoffs. Click the link to learn more about them.
Here is every example I could find of those 31 traits in action during each teams’ first playoff game. (The ones from the original list that aren’t listed here weren’t spotted over the weekend). I’ll be tracking these after every NBA playoff night.
If I missed any of the 31 — or if you saw something else that was nifty that you’d like to share with the class -- drop it in the comments section.
1. Houston shutting off the many Thunder pick and rolls for Russell Westbrook
The Rockets did a great job snuffing out the Thunder’s attempts to disguise the play everyone knew was coming. Here was one of the few successes of the Spain pick and roll, where one players screens the ball-handler’s man and another screens the help defender.
And even that is a tough shot. Well done, Rockets.
2. The Boston Loop mostly fails
The Celtics used this alignment a lot in their Game 1 loss, but the Bulls knew it was coming.
I counted twice where Boston was able to go to secondary sequences off this play. Once, a Thomas backscreen at least forced Nikola Mirotic to switch onto him.
The goal was to get Al Horford for a backdoor lob, but the Bulls switched to stop it from happening. Thomas had to make a tough shot over Mirotic.
Speaking of tough shots, here’s an example of the Celtics going to the Horford/Avery Bradley dribble handoff on the other side.
But all in all, the Bulls used the physicality of the playoffs to disrupt the timing of this pet play. Watch Dwyane Wade on this late-game sequence.
That’s a foul in the regular season. In the playoffs, the referees swallow their whistles. That’s why Marcus Smart bricked a three.
3. James Harden sized up a Thunder big man on a switch all the damn time
This was the story of the Rockets’ Game 1 win. The Thunder elected to switch all pick and rolls and got burned. Poor Enes Kanter.
Harden did this half a dozen times to other Thunder big men, but we’ll spare them the embarrassment.
4. 2 plays that showed off Jimmy Butler’s Dwyane Wade impression
Here are two great examples of Butler declining a ball screen and attacking, a la Prime Wade. On this first one, Butler swings through to go right and find Wade in the corner. (Shout out to Robin Lopez’s flare screen).
On the second one, Butler uncorked a vicious crossover dribble to confuse Kelly Olynyk, who was prepared for Butler to drive in the direction of Cristiano Felicio’s screen.
5. Portland’s flare screens were mostly absent
The Blazers went with a more direct game plan to get Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum attacking off the dribble, so we didn’t see as many flare screens as usual. Here’s one that worked well, though.
6. The Toronto Weave was the only play that actually worked for the Raptors
The Raptors used this play three times. First, DeMar DeRozan got the easy layup the Raptors craved.
Then, Kyle Lowry found Jonas Valanciunas for a foul.
(The third one didn’t work)
7. Look at this John Wall jump passes in transition
This is quintessential John Wall.
Look at the attention he sucked in.
8. Mike Conley’s stop and go made an early appearance
Conley had this move going early on.
But it didn’t last.
9. Marcus Smart, agitator
The goddamn master. How did he convince the ref that this was an offensive foul? This sequence belongs in the flopping hall of fame.
10. The J.J. Redick pindown, but no twist
No twist here, but the Clippers got a critical bucket late in the game by using this play out of a timeout.
The Jazz were forced to switch Derrick Favors onto Redick after DeAndre Jordan faked a ball screen and instead sprung Redick. J.J. took his time and got to the hoop for a layup.
This was the only non-Chris Paul Clipper field goal in the last six minutes.
11. The JaVale McGee backdoor lob
JaVale played a big role in Golden State’s Game 1 win, so obviously the Warriors ran this play successfully.
12. The Spurs denied the ball a lot
This was the story of the second half of the Spurs’ win.
Here’s an example that didn’t directly lead to a turnover. Watch LaMarcus Aldridge and Patty Mills.
They shut off Troy Daniels’ two options — post-up for Zach Randolph, pass back to Conley — and made him take a difficult shot.
13. The Bucks defended the whole game like they had six guys on the floor
You didn’t need to look hard to find examples of this in Milwaukee’s Game 1 win.
14. The Blake Griffin duck-in
Here’s a textbook example from Game 1.
Boris Diaw was standing at the three-point line, so rather than fly in for the defensive board himself, Blake Griffin let his teammates grab it, ran straight down the middle of the floor to pin Diaw under the hoop, and spun for a nice floater.
15. Draymond Green put out every fire
Yeah, he did this a lot.
16. The old reliable Z-Bo/Marc hi-lo
This was one of Randolph’s three field goals in the game. The Spurs defended him well overall.
Even this was a new twist on the old classic. Gasol and Randolph came together to run the double hi pick and roll that I spotlighted last year (see No. 3). Randolph darted down low and Gasol popped to the three-point line instead of the high post. The end result was a tough lefty finish over David Lee.
17. Russell Westbrook didn’t do much grabbing and going
Westbrook grabbed nine defensive rebounds in the Thunder’s blowout Game 1 loss. Those nine boards resulted in seven transition points and three turnovers. Three of those seven points were on the play that Steven Adams flattened Beverley, which wasn’t really a fast break.
So the Rockets did a great job shutting this down. Keep an eye on this going forward.
18. LeBron’s crosscourt passes seem normal
LeBron had three crosscort whip pass assists against the Pacers on Saturday. Only one came on a post up and all three were aided by terrific Tristan Thompson flare screens. But this is still very cool.
It’s amazing this feels so routine.
