#cyphastrea Difficulty Level: Cyphastrea is one of the least light demanding #LPScoral and is also very tolerant of most chemical conditions. Feeding: Cyphastrea will readily accept most meat based foods that it can grab with its tentacles. Lighting: Low light would be overstating the dim conditions cyphastrea is capable of thriving in. Some specimens may even be seen growing on the underside of rocks as they creep up toward the light. Great coral for that shady spot near the bottom of your rocks or even for the back wall of the aquarium. Waterflow: Cyphastrea may be grown under a wide range of flow conditions as long as there is enough to keep its flesh free of detritus and other debris. Placement: Lower light areas near the bottom of rockwork is usually most suitable although they will readily adapt to more light and higher placement is desired. Common names: #Hammercoral, #anchorcoral Difficulty Level: #Euphyllia is generally tolerant, but must have stable alkalinity to survive. Feeding: Poor feeding response, so must usually be fed with pumps off. Most common foods are small suspension matter including phyto and roti. Lighting (Level 5 to 7): Most prefer moderate lighting, but will adapt to varying conditions. Water flow: Hammer requires medium to lower flow to insure fleshy polyps are not damaged on rocks or skeleton. Placement: All of the corals in the euphyllia group can be quite aggressive. Torch is the most aggressive and should not be placed near other members of the family. Hammer and frogspawn will tolerate each other in close proximity. General: These corals all come in either a wall form or branching form. #favia #braincoral Common names: #mooncoral, brain #coral Difficulty Level:Sensitivity depends a bit on the species, but most are quite tolerant, forgiving and easy to care for. Feeding: Most species have fairly good prey capture abilities, and will even accept pellets placed directly on their mouths. Growth may accelerate if fed regularly. Lighting (Level 4 to 7): Favias will thrive in a wide range of lighting. As with most #hardcorals, bleaching is a concern, so always acclimate by starting them lower in the tank and slowly move them up to your desired location. Water flow: Moderate to strong flow. Placement: Favias will encrust over rocks, so it is usually best to place them on a hard surface. They will easily catch and consume most food types including frozen, liquid and even pellets. Take care as their feeding aggression can sometimes be taken out on neighboring corals. Lighting: Micros will thrive in a wide range of lighting. As with most #hardcorals, bleaching is a concern, so always acclimate by starting them lower in the tank and slowly move them up to your desired location.
