Ospreys. The baby was bigger than the adult standing watch. When I was a child these birds were rare. When I was a child birds in general were rare. Except for Seagulls lol. This year the variety is astounding. A gentleman on the docks in his 80's remarked in wonder about how amazing it is to see the shifts in wild life since ddt was banned. His eyes light up as he mentions that the foxes in Ocean City are back. Rabbits are now under control. I tell him my yard sits in a row of 4 homes that have been chemical free for 4 years. Almost every tree has nests from a different kind of bird. So many that their song drowns the traffic noise of route 9. All the bird houses are full. The squirrels and rabbits are fat and happy. There are 3 distinctly different predatory birds. Last year the praying mantis came back. This year we got Gartner snakes. Removing chemicals is foundational to not just the environment but our bodily health as well.
