I know to the majority of climbers this isn't that high of a climb, but to me, anything above 10 feet off the ground gets my blood pumping. (It could be a small boulder problem or a multi-pitch climb on slab, all the same feeling) I think its a good thing, keeps me focused and my attention on the present moment. Its also a good thing as it keeps us safe, as we check all of our gear with redundant checks, just to make sure we didn't miss anything little. Would rather be a bit safe than have a broken back. 💜🙏🏼 # Repost @cocodro ・・・ 🧗🏻‍♀️Inktober 30/31: crisp red rocks mornings by @dirtbagdad 🧗🏻‍♀️ ▪️ “An annual trip to Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas has become an annual rite for me, my daughter Hannah, and her partner Warren over the New Year's holiday. We love this place so much that the trips become longer by a day or so each year... at that rate, perhaps we'll eventually end up moving there! Every day in Red Rock Canyon is one of magical realism brought to life. The weather, the light, and the land all conspire to deliver a delightful surprise each morning. This particular morning we set out to boulder in an area that was new to all of us: Oak Creek Canyon. It was a typical icy cold morning in the park, so we welcomed the long approach to destinations yet unknown. I find I spend time constantly shooting here. The conditions often change, spectacularly, from moment to moment. This day was no different. This image is from the morning prior to New Year's Eve. The beauty of Red Rocks is that it's metaphysically light years away from nearby Las Vegas and all the madness that goes on there, especially during this particular holiday. While the buzz of a city that never sleeps vibrates but a half hour drive away, Red Rock Canyon is a place of Zen-like quiet, wildness, and solitude. Such is the solitude that, at the end of the day, someone typically says, "Oh yeah, I guess it's New Year's Eve!" After bouldering and just "being" we return to town for dinner (a choice of excellent local sushi, Thai, Indian, etc.). I know it's a cliche, but it really doesn't get much better than this!
