This Red-headed Barbet female has just landed at the nest located in a hole in a broken off, dead palm trunk along the Vía Cunuco in Mindo in northwestern Ecuador on January 15, 2019. The female is holding a moth in its bill to feed the nestlings inside the nest. Both the male and female parents were bringing insect food to the nest. This photo was taken at 11:02 AM. The Red-headed Barbet was observed at the Jardín Ecobotánico Mindo owned and managed by Alcivar Saragosin. The JARDIN ECOBOTANICO MINDO is located beside the Vía Cunuco at the western edge of Mindo. The Red-headed Barbet is a member of the family Capitonidae and is found in Costa Rica, Panamá, western Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and northern Perú. Una hembra de Barbudo Cabecirrojo Eubucco bourcierii está llevando un insecto a su nido en un hoyo en un tronco de una palmera seca por la Vía Cunuco a la orilla occidental de Mindo en el noroeste de Ecuador el 15 de enero de 2019. A pair of Red-headed Barbets have landed in a tree about 30 feet from their nest located in a hole in a broken off, dead palm trunk along the Vía Cunuco in Mindo in northwestern Ecuador on January 15, 2019. Both the male (on the right) and the female (on the left) are holding insects in their bills to feed the nestlings inside the nest. This photo was taken at 10:56 AM. These Red-headed Barbets were observed at the Jardín Ecobotánico Mindo owned and managed by Alcivar Saragosin.
