Okay I've been holding on to this from the train of thought forever.

Like I know you've long since gone past this point and the fact that I'm here talking about it now is nuts and you should probably delete this but I want at least get my thoughts to you in a clear concise manner

Like I was one of those people who were advocating for the idea of Giratina thinking that it was Ingo and I really do enjoy what you've actually gone towards it's really interesting.

But I read your big post and I didn't quite understand why you were thinking that it had to be -if you went down that path- sympathetic towards that Giratina sliver.

Like you totally can but there doesn't need to be redemption in the slightest.

a raw straight up Metal Sonic from within. Where they could be somewhat tragic figures if you think about it but what they want is completely opposite to what the hero that wish to replace wants.

I'm just saying you shut the down the idea without fully considering everything else (all sorts of different types of identity ( what truly makes up Ingo) and what makes up a person )

what you do have is really good. It's just that it's been stewing in my brain for a very long time.

And I know that all these ideas would fundamentally change everything that was build up.

It has been a bit since we’ve talked about this, and maybe what I said back then I don’t quite feel the same anymore (I can’t quite remember), but as of now looking at what we’ve done with this AU, I’m not sympathetic towards the remnant. I’m pretty sure what we’ve established is that the remnant was a part of Giratina, but it’s not giratina at all, it’s a parasite and a Frankensteined entity (sort of like false Groudon in the jirachi movie, as I’ve stated before)

I think at one point I considered that the remnant was a part of giratina that would eventually have to unlatch itself from Ingo and return back to Giratina (?) but I don’t feel that way anymore. And I quite like your way of putting it though, Anon! It just wants the opposite of what the hero wants. It wants to stay where it is and grow until it can destroy and leave the mindscape.

Apologies if I didn’t consider something! I usually try to work with what’s given to me and most times just go with the flow of things (some cases I do consider other things though); I need opposition like this to consider other things sometimes! So thanks for sending this!

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom?

gollygosh golighty, it is probably the Kirby fandom. if my math is correct, I’ve been a fan since 11 years and counting!

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat. man went from obnoxious fuckboi jackass comic relief and butt monkey of the entire franchise to an honestly funny, caring and loyal guy who’s also a shockingly good parent and can even be pretty mature and reasonable if he needs to. Midway/NRS clearly didn’t like him all that much in the OT and made him pretty cringey, but now he’s actually bearable without losing the original ego and bad sense of humour that makes him who he is. got to say, I really love him now.

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).

Pokemon SU/MO AU where instead of protag being recruited to hunt UBs Guzma ended up being drafted into it as a half ‘community service’ to make up for what he did with Team Skull and Lusamine, and the fact he also qualifies as a Faller. It’s not totally willing or a happily made decision (sort of imagining Looker or someone strong-armed him into it), but maybe he was desperate due to having nowhere to stay let alone a livelihood after disbanding Team Skull and wanting an escape and something to do. And there’s gonna be complications, such as others like Plumeria or perhaps even Nanu disapproving of his new ‘job’ (though it’s more like they’re angrier at the guys like Looker who dragged a guy who is clearly in a bad place into their dangerous ops) and the fact Guzma has a justified phobia and probably PTSD because of Ultra Beasts and Lusamine. It’s a redemption story yes, just an alternate path instead of going back to training with Hala like he did in the games.

I’m a little surprised how few people actually try to explore how Guzma’s experience in the portal affected him, and how it may have contributed to his heel-face turn in both timelines of the games.

S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)

(hhhhh I can’t believe you remembered this one esp when i haven’t officially done anything on it but in the tags of that one post!)

The dragon form is actually closer to Raiden’s ‘true’ form than the humanlike mortal body we know best. In his truest form Raiden is a shapeless mass of sentient lightning which would blind/vaporise any mortals who saw it, so a dragon made of lightning is his next best ‘safe’ form before actually taking a mortal vessel. In this form he’s possibly the most powerful and free in his element without being in his ‘raw’ form.

This is true for all gods, who if they can’t be bothered to take a more humanoid form or an actual mortal body they will turn into an elemental dragon - the next step between dragon and mortal form is an elemental humanoid form like the unnamed gods in SZM.

Basically think of it like a weirdass Pokemon evolution line roughly like: Shapeless elemental mass > elemental dragon > elemental humanoid > human vessel

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? 

Mortal Kombat: RAIDEN IS A GOOD PERSON WHO CARES AND ISN’T A FAILURE, YOU ARE ALL JUST MEAN.

Marvel: Tony Stark finds it easier to talk to and connect with robots and AI/VI than humans. His robots are like his kids and he’d totally have pictures of them in his wallet.

Kirby: (Game) Kirby’s impulsive, naive and childish but not a complete idiot. He often understands what’s going on and what’s at stake in serious and even pretty complex and highly dangerous situations, but he’s just the type who can put all that aside and single-mindedly focus on what needs to be done to save the day. True, he does have too-big a heart and often approaches things too simply in black and white terms, but it’s more of a merit of his that he has seen so much shit and yet can still trust and be kind even to total strangers in the direst of circumstances.

Madness Combat: Deimos is younger than Sanford (and a lot of the other characters) and isn’t as happy or ditzy as he acts a lot of the time - he’s got a fair bit of baggage for being a defector and the bloody and thankless ‘job’ he and Sanford have now. Sanford knows this, which is why he lets him off the hook [lmfao half-intended pun] for goofing around so much.

sooo I just really like the Kirby series? It’s such a dependable series that is so enjoyable for all ages and fans, it has excellent art and music and always hits the right amount of throwback and new innovations and rarely disappoints or fails to deliver. Everything’s cute and colourful and accessible for the kidduns, there’s some juicy lore and deeper storylines for older fans to sink their teeth into and all round there is hardly anything to complain about in the canon media and the fandom. plus the Anime is like its own bomb ass ‘canon AU’ verse and can be taken separate, and that too is a barrel of fun with a cute and cheerful world that can be studied and mined endlessly for all sorts of story potential and themes without being exhausted. honestly, just everything about the Kirby series is superb and i would say it’s one of the best franchises ever, period.

Pokemon Insurgence AU: The tournament and a roadblock

Welp time to say what the hell happened in that session of playing the game. Get ready.

So! Tournament time! Everyone was at level 16:

Here is everyone’s movesets:

Antonia: Fairy Wind, Hypnosis, Leech Seed, Psybeam

Freddie: Double Kick, Focus Energy, Peck, Poison Sting

Oreli: Astonish, Magnitude, Mud-Slap, Scratch

Haigha: Double Slap, Mud-Slap, Quick Attack, Take Down

Pavel: Magnitude, Rock Throw, Rollout, Tackle

Nova: Rest, Rock Throw, Tackle, Thunder Wave

And I also had given them items, Antonia had Leftovers on her, both Oreli had Soft Sand from the Mines and Nova had a Hard Stone from Telnor Cave.

I should also note that all Pokemon were automatically healed after the battles and no XP was gained from them.

Anyway so first was an irrelevant kid that had a Riolu and Tyrogue. Antonia took care of them with no fuss.

Next up was a fight against Damian. Now, Damian had a Corphish, a Luxio and his Starter, which evolved in a Charmeleon. I have honestly no idea what happened with the Corphish and Luxio lmao. I think I sent either Antonia or Freddie against the Corphish and Freddie against Luxio. I know for sure Antonia was against the Charmeleon because it made it a Starter fight, and Charmeleon brought her down to 8 HP with two Shadow Sneaks. Thankfully she was able to defeat him, and in turn, Damian.

Anyway, next up was Nora, with a Sewaddle, a Trapinch and a Bayleef. Freddie took care of the Sewaddle, then Antonia took care of the Trapinch and Freddie returned to take care of the Bayleef.

Just for the sake of it, the picture of the team after the battle:

With the Tournament won, we got the TM for Return and that meant that I could move on. On the next Route, Route 2, I got the Old Rod, which meant I could go back and fish for new catches.

In Midna I caught a Finneon, in Midna Garden I checked the Hidden Grotto again and it had a Stunky, which I managed to catch. Last catch I made was on Route 2, which was a Staryu.

While wiping out the Trainers on the Route this happened:

Anyway, I fought all the Trainers on the Route then oh! Plot time!

It’s the Abyssal Cult! And they have plans big enough to block the road.

Man, Wilbur can’t go five steps without running into cultists.

Anyway, seeing them there made me decide to grind up to level 18.

And I started doing that

And I brought out Oreli against a Marill, thinking she could take the Marill out with a Magnitude, or planning her to do some damage to the Marill before switching out.

And... Well... Let’s look at some messages before this encounter:

Well... Marill used Bubble Beam... And it critted, and...

I was upset and sad and so were the discord peeps when it happened. We held a small funeral for her, I tortured them with some angst and then decided that I will level the team up to level 18 then make another poll to decide who should take the now vacant place on the team. Here’s the poll:

Pokemon Insurgence AU: Midna and School time

Ayup another update! I played a bit ahead, but, uhm... an event in the game made me stop, so hopefully i can update up to that event today.

Last time we got to the new town, this time we’re exploring it and getting involved with the school. More details under the cut.

Okay so first thing I did in this town was to just... joink all the items I could find lmao. It’s a Nuzlocke, okay? I need all the extra help I can get.

So from a house I got some Leftovers and I gave them to Antonia to hold. Then, after taking everything I culd from the town, I went to the Trainer School to do a quest to let me leave the town: basically, a girl called Nora went to train in the town’s mines and is late for the school tournament. Because of this I had to go there and get her to go back to school

But! Entering the mines also meant getting our last team member: a Nosepass, manifested accidentally by @/hollenka99. She was named Nova. And, that’s the team!

And while going through the cave, this happened:

Then it was Freddie’s turn!

Pog, we have two evolutions, and you bet it freaked Wilbur out when it happened lol. Here’s Freddie’s new overworld sprite:

Anyway, reaching the end of the cave, we find Nora, training, but, well... see for yourselves what she was doing lol:

Yeah she casually has a Celebi. And she made it revive the fossils, then casually turned them back.

Then she notices that she’s not alone lol

Everything. Nah but seriously I kinda want to make a fanfic out of this run because Wilbur experiencing this world is both funny and angsty. The people from the discord can testify, I got angst out of a lot of situations.

Anyway, Nora thinks she’s in trouble but then a mewl is heard, and fucking Mew shows up.

So a thing get revealed: apparently there is an old prophecy that not everyone knows word for word, about a person chosen by one of the small Mythical pokemon (think Mew, Celebi, Victini, etc.) and how they will destroy the cults. Aka: this is what makes the cults dangerous to her and now the player, in our case Wilbur, be in danger because the prophecy could be about either of them, and the last dude who was friends with a Mythical was the Augur before Jaern the dickhead, who was friends with Hoopa and disappeared about a year prior.

Btw if you’re wondering Jaern is not cool enough to have a Mythical friend lol.

Anyway after that Nora goes back to school, and I imagine our dude Wilbur is pretty much like thanks for giving me a fact that will fuel my paranoia while traveling in a place I don’t know :D

Anyway next up is the tournament. For it I leveled up my team to level 16, and I will get into that into the next post, which shouldn’t take too long to come out.

Pokemon Insurgence AU: traveling to a new town

Okay so as I am writing this my team reached the next town, Midna, and i want to give updates on the travel because there are two new team members :D

So, after going through the cave, the next location was Route 1, aka a new encounter.

And it was a Bunnelby :D I have no idea how Wilbur managed to be a magnet for cute Pokemon so far lmao.

His names is Haigha, middlename is Whiskers.

So Route 1 was going well, I avoided a pesky trainer that I got to battle later, what my objective was was to get to a place called Midna Garden. It’s a small area with a pond and a Hidden Grotto, and most importantly, a Nurse Joy. That’s a live saver in Nuzlockes, and I had the chance to get a new team member, potentially.

But to get there I had to get through the Dark Cave, aka new encounter!

It was a Geodude, which is hilarious. I don’t know if there were any NPCs so far that had Geodude in their parties, but me and the Discord server I was liveblogging this in had this fun idea that Wilbur just... sat down to rest and he sat down on a Geodude and got freaked out lmao.

Anyway this is the overworld sprite for Geodude and I find it funny and oddly endearing:

He looks a bit like a potato and his name is Pavel.

Anyway, the Grotto had no Pokemon and the fishing rod is obtained later, so I had to leave and return later.

I went to battle this trainer, and let me tell you, her name was Lady Lana and she is an absolute menace. She opens with an annoying Exeggute that puts you to sleep, uses Leech Seed, Uproar and Reflect. I was trying to take it down with Freddy and this happened:

These level 11 eggs brought down my level 14 Nidoran to 1 HP thanks to Uproar and Leech Seed. I switched into Antonia fast and finished the battle, and before I ran off to Nurse Joy I accidentally interacted in the overworld with Freddie and this popped up:

When I tell you I got emotional, I got emotional.

Anyway, afterwards the rest of the Route was a breeze, and I reached Midna. That’s all I did in between updates, and this is where I’ll leave it off for now lol. Hopefully nothing else bad will happen.

Pokemon Insurgence AU: Fighting some baddies pog

I finished the fight and now I’m giving you the update. Spoilers under the cut.

So as I said previously, I leveled up the party to level 13, as you can see below:

Here is also the moveset for each of them , in case anyone is curious:

Antonia: Confusion, Fairy Wind, Hypnosis, Leech Seed

Freddie: Double Kick, Focus Energy, Peck, Poison Sting

Oreli: Astonish, Growl, Mud-Slap, Scratch

I decided to lead with Antonia and have Freddie as a back up. Oreli was there for moral support because 1. She is a Ground type and the opponent I knew was gonna be a Water-oriented trainer and 2. She had the lowest HP and wack moves. We still love her and hope she will become a BAMF.

Anyway getting into the story:

Wilbur and Damian storm the Town Hall to warn the Augur... very indiscreetly. You see, Damian here thought it would be a good idea to say outloud that people are there to kill the Augur. And then this happened:

And then Damian has the bright idea to say this:

Followed by this:

Brilliant. I imagine outside the convo was like

Wilbur: We have to be careful alright? They’re dangerous people. Damian: Okay!

Then he goes doing this lol

And the Cultists are like What the fuck, kid? too!

We’re gonna laugh in a second about this lol.

Anyway the battle begins. Antonia goes against a level 12 Skrelp. And here I do something stupid: I use Fairy Wind, instead of Confusion. Then I get low health, forcing me to heal, then I miss a Hypnosis and a Leech Seed, and the dude takes me to yellow health. Pretty bad, but I land a Confusion and take him out.

Next up was a level 13 Horsea. I switched to Freddie and tried to kill the Horsea with Double Kick but it did stupidly low damage. I tried to do a lot of damage but with a Smokescreen from the Horsea up and with the damage getting more and more severe to Freddie, I healed him up and took advantage of the Horsea using Leer to heal Antonia. I then switched her in, and after taking a little bit of damage, Antonia landed a Leech Seed and a Hypnosis, and was able to heal a bit while finishing the Horsea off with a Confusion.

And that was the battle, done.

Anyway after the battle, the Cultists wanted to kill Wilbur and Damian and the Augur, but the Augur finally stepped in, said something in Latin and the dudes just... poof out of existence lol. He assures that he didn’t kill them and sent them to jail though.

Anyway, here’s a reason for why this dude’s an asshole:

He let a ten year old fight his battle in this AU, and in the game he let two. Dickhead. Though he was gonna intervene if we were “going to get hurt“, aka we weren’t in danger of ending Wilbur’s run here.

It’s safe to say Wilbur doesn’t like this first impression of him.

Anyway, the Augur praies both of their battle prowess and tells them they can drop by the capital sometime, he would be delighted to see them again. And that’s how the journey starts lol. There’s nothing holding Damian back, he wants to be a trainer. Wilbur follows him mostly because he doesn’t want this kid to accidentally get himself killed no he doesn’t remind him of anyone from back home no--

Also in the next town there’s a Trainer School. Wilbur definitly wants to check it out. If he’s gonna have a team, he should learn at least how to take care of it properly.

So, that’s it for now. Next up we’re traveling between towns and hopefully getting some more teammates. It’s time for Wilbur to go camping lol.

Pokemon Insurgence AU: The beginning of the run

Ayup, coming with another update for the AU!

So, last time we left off immediately after picking our Starter, a Delta Bulbasaur that I named Antonia. Pog. Now we get into the story of the game.

So, our rival is this kid, Damian, who is the last kid from his town to leave on his journey. He only gets a Pokemon because this important dude, the Augur, who is comparable to the Champion in the official games, is visiting the town, and Damian must get him a gift from a nearby cave. He argued with his family in the Town Hall to get to do it.

In this AU, I imagine Wilbur gets Antonia because when he entered the Town Hall to get maybe some info on where he is, he overheard the argument and he kinda got dragged in by Damian. With Antonia by his side, Wilbur headed after Damian into the Shade Forest to keep an eye on him because the kid could hurt himself.

I know it’s not a perfect explanation but it works for now, especially since i am writing this at 2 AM, and we could flesh it out later lol. Anyway! What happened afterwards is under the cut.

First, I forgot to mention this but in Insurgence, Pokemon follow you around just like in Heart Gold and Soul Silver. That means we will see our party members in the overworld and of course I’ll share those screenshots. Here’s Antonia in the overworld:

Anyway, the first wild Pokemon encounter we had was a male Nidoran that was successfully caught. He was named Freddie.

Now, remember how in my previous post I was all like this?

And this?

Well... I was battling trainers in the forest, I sent out Antonia to take care of a Starly because Freddie was a under her level, and then Starly used Quick Attack:

I almost pissed myself and the discord server I was liveblogging kinda the run in also had a heart attack with me because we love Antonia to bits. She survived though, but in came a lot of close call for all of the team so far. Then she got poisoned by another trainer’s Roselia, but she survived.

So... I may have challenged the gods of Nuzlocke runs. Oh dear.

Anyway, I got into the Cave and another encounter... It was a Diglett!

So funny thing I have the plan to name the Pokemon after theatre references, anything from characters from plays (Freddie is named after George III because Hamilton for example), playwrights (Antonia is named after Chekhov) but at Diglett, because of the fact that she is a mole and we had so many close encounters so far, I decided to name her Oreli, so she may survive further by defying fate, like her namesake defied 100bur lmao.

Okay but the image is funny by itself because I can just imagine Wilbur being like How are you in a dirt hole inside the building? in a very endearing way.

The discord server and I then proceeded to piss ourselves again while leveling up because again my team was brought into the red zone. Oreli was brought o one HP because of poison, but she survived!

And then we finally reached Damian. He didn’t find the gift but when we get there we get to eavesdrop on a convenientTM conversation between the baddies: cultists! The dudes were talking about how they want to kill the Augur and how they sent assassins to kill him.

They say this and we’ll point at this and laugh later:

Anyway hearing this Damian is urging u to go back to warn the Augur. My dude Wilbur basically gets involved in this story purely because he’s the adult in this situation.

But yeah the next thing I did was grind to level 13 my party and I stopped playing there. I know the story and i put limits on how far i can level up, based on the game’s wiki. It may seem a pretty high level but the game is pretty difficult so leveling up is important. Anyway I stocked up on potions and I am hoping for the best.

I love how so far Wilbur’s party consists of:

Polite pink frog creature

Poisonous spiky rabbit

Magic mole whose body below the head is unknown

Update on the Pokemon AU: we have a Starter :D

So a full 24 hours haven’t passed, but I decided to close the poll, especially since the number of votes have remained constant for over 12 hours. So, without further ado, under the cut we have the results of 14 votes:

Why I did that? Couple of reasons:

She’s pink

She looks polite

Multiple friends fell in love with the design

As you can see, all very valid reasons to reset. So I did and Wilbur has a polite Starter which was named Antonia.

I have to tell you guys I made a commitment to not let Antonia die, because otherwise one of my friends will call me a hoe and the other will stab me for my transgressions. Fun!

Next came a rival battle with the local kid and you can see how well I know how to play the game because this happened:

Yeah... I mean it can be in character because Wilbur here literally has no idea wtf is going on yet, but still funny mistake on my part.

But anyway the first battle was won and this screenshot is hilarious because this kid that is from this world lost to a dude that literally appeared in his world 15 minutes ago:
