Good works are a result of salvation
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might (be careful to maintain good works). These things are good and profitable unto men.
Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, (zealous of good works).2.15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
2 Corinthians 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
2 Timothy 3.16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:3.17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished (unto all good works).
James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

The Song of Moses and Miriam
1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.
3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.
4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.
5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.
6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.
7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.
8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.
10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.
11 Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.
13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.
14 The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.
15 Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.
16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.
17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Lord, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.
18 The Lord shall reign for ever and ever.
19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.
27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters. — Exodus 15 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Genesis 8:1; Genesis 16:7; Genesis 20:1; Genesis 31:27; Genesis 36:15; Genesis 49:18; Exodus 3:20; Exodus 5:21; Exodus 6:6; Exodus 14:6; Exodus 14:10-11; Exodus 14:21-22; Exodus 14:27-28; Exodus 16:1; Exodus 16:4; Exodus 19:5-6; Exodus 23:20; Numbers 33:8-9; Deuteronomy 2:25; Ruth 1:20; 1 Samuel 18:6; Nehemiah 9:11; Psalm 138:7; Luke 11:22; Titus 2:14; Hebrews 12:29; Revelation 4:8; Revelation 11:5; Revelation 13:4; Revelation 15:3; Revelation 19:11

Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Proverbs 2:1-5(KJV): 1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
Thought for the Day
Verses 1-3 - If we desire to understand the "fear of the Lord," and discover a little of what He knows, we must do certain things; the most important of which is to receive God's words and act on them, by making Bible study an important part of our lives. As we study His Word and ask Him for understanding, it will come alive to us. Often while I am reading Scripture, the words suddenly seem to leap off the page and into my heart. Other times, I read a portion repeatedly without understanding, and ask the Lord to show me what it means. In this way, I am "lifting up my voice for understanding." Later, while reading that same passage, I suddenly understand it. Often the Holy Spirit brings to mind another verse that sheds light on it. Whenever God grants me understanding, I find that just knowing His Word is not enough; I must also obey it.
Verses 4-5 - If we seek knowledge from God as if searching for silver or hidden treasures, we will find it. Searching for treasure requires one to: -Inquire where the treasure might be found -Find a map to help in the search -Gather tools for digging -Find the right people to help in the search -Dig!
I think we can see the spiritual application. We must realize that the Bible cannot be read as a common novel. It is a holy book granted to mankind, inspired by the Holy Spirit. It cannot be read with simply our natural eyes, nor studied with intellect alone. We must bring our hearts to God and ask Him to enlighten us; to give us spiritual ears to hear what He is saying. If we earnestly seek the Book's treasures in this way, we shall indeed find truth and gems of knowledge, like UN-mined gold within its pages.
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear Lord, I come to You in the name of Jesus and thank you for giving me the Bible, your wonderful book, that is not only full of Your knowledge and wisdom, but is Your love letter to mankind. All through this book is the plan of redemption. You show us how we, as mortals, can find a loving God who gave Jesus, His Son to die for us and redeem us from our sin and destruction. I am thankful that my name is written in the Book of Life. Lord, help me today to be a caring and loving person that reaches out to share the Bible's message with others. Give me understanding as I read the Bible, but most of all, give me the grace to obey the things that You have revealed to me in Your Word. Amen. From: Steven P. Comfort ye, comfort ye my people;
my salvation shall not tarry:
why wilt thou waste away in sadness?
why hath sorrow seized thee?
Fear not, for I will save thee:
For I am the Lord thy God,
the Holy One of Israel, thy Redeemer.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.
Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
Psalm 32:5 Finally, I confessed all my sins to You and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And You forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
May you not be settled into this world, but wear it loosely, not clinging to possessions, but holding them lightly, not demanding even acceptable pleasures, lest you end up pursuing harmful appetites, but walk in humility before God and live contentedly with enough, letting your joy come from your citizenship in eternity and your satisfaction from the presence of the Lord, boasting only in the faithful love, justice, and righteousness which the Lord in His mercy delights to exercise in the earth. Jeremiah 35
May you be as willing to hear and obey the word of the Lord your God as you do those in your life that you respect and who care for you, for has not the Lord Who created you provided you life and sustains you each day, and does not the Lord Who has redeemed you show His love by all He has given even before you knew Him? Jeremiah 35
May you be employed in the presentation of God's Word to those in need, sharing the promises and consequences, informing all of the truth of His love and the reality of the enemy, offering His mercy and justice and warning of what is to come, that the Lord may have a witness in the earth and the harvest, which is plentiful, may be gathered in. Jeremiah 36
May you respond in godly respect and reverential fear to the Word of the Lord, following His precepts and obeying His leading, knowing that careless disregard of His warnings and unheeding disrespect of His commands will lead to increased woes and added wrath. Jeremiah 36
Seek Me for all your needs, My child, but fail not to act on those items that are your tasks to do. In your patient endurance, you shall gain the possession of your soul. Study to show yourself approved before Me, without shame, accurately handling the Word of My Truth. Present yourself to Me as one redeemed from death to life so that every part of your body may be a useful weapon of righteousness. It is by My Spirit that you are empowered to do these things, just as it is because of My love that you desire to please Me in this fashion. But it is by My Word, revealed by My Spirit to your innermost parts and made life and strength to your soul as it is written on the tables of your heart that you are able to stand in the battles I give you to fight, and to overcome in the struggles that are yours to face. My written word must be your standard by which you measure that which you receive, but do not think that the plans are the same as the structure. All Scripture is inspired by Me for teaching, reproof, correction, conviction, and instruction in righteousness. But just as I formed Adam's body from clay, it remained dead and without life until My breath entered into it. Even as the body, without the breath, is dead, so also the written word, holy and inscribed through My inspiration, can still wound and kill if used without the Spirit guiding you in the way of love which leads to life. My creation, spoken into existence, shaped and fashioned from My heart, showing My magnificence and demonstrating My majesty, is not to be worshiped; it only points to Me, and it will pass away to be replaced by a new heaven and earth. I am the eternal Word of God. Seek Me, letting the written scriptures point to Me as you study and revere that which I have given you through the efforts and blood of many people, but do not worship the written word lest it become as the brazen serpent Moses made and distract you from who I am. As you seek Me, yielding to My Spirit in humility and joy, I will transform you into My image so that others will read My Truth writ large in your life, no longer seeing you, but having their life touched by Me as I bring them from death into the same living relationship of the Spirit that I have given you. Do your diligence, My love, and learn of Me through My Word, allowing My Spirit to open it to you, that you may breathe in the life which transforms you, that I may be seen by the world.
May you be obediently willing, in meekness before the Lord and with careful regard to your own cleanliness in the Spirit, to bring rebuke to faults among God's people, not eager to exalt yourself, but desirous to lift them up to achieve their best. I Timothy 5
May you be faithful to show God's love to the members of your own family, and ready to help meet the needs of those who have only the Lord to turn to, showing mercy when you have the means so that you may receive mercy when you have the need. 1 Timothy 5
May you give double-honor to those who labor in the Lord for you, seeking Him for direction, sharing what they receive, caring for all who listen, training you for overcoming, rejoicing with you in victory. 1 Timothy 5
May you learn to acclaim the Lord and to walk in the light of His presence, rejoicing in His name all day long and exulting in His righteousness, for He is your glory and strength, and by His favor you are victorious, therefore your loyalty and devotion belongs to the Lord, your Holy One, Who has founded His throne on righteousness and justice, and before Whom goes love and faithfulness. Psalm 89
May your strength be granted from God, your anointing come from His Spirit, His hand sustain you, His arm empower you, paying no tribute to an enemy and suffering no oppression from the wicked as He crushes your foes before you and strikes down your adversaries, and His faithful love will abide with you as you acknowledge Him to be your Father, Your God, the Rock your Savior. Psalm 89
May you know that though discipline comes when needed, the Lord will never take His love from you nor will He ever betray His faithfulness, for He will not violate His covenant of love or alter the promises His lips have uttered. Psalm 89

Charles Spurgeon's "Morning & Evening" Devotional for October 24
Morning
“I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh.”
Acts 2:1-21
Acts 2:1
Ancient Israel celebrated at Pentecost the feast of harvest: behold, here by the outpouring of the Spirit three thousand souls are to be in one day gathered into the granary of the Lord. Observe how unity and prayerfulness prevailed when the blessing of God descended upon the church.
Acts 2:2
This appealed to their hearing, and was a fit accompaniment of the sacred breath of the Spirit.
Acts 2:3
The fire appealed to their sight. It is an instructive emblem of the spiritual energy of the Holy Ghost. A tongue set on fire of hell is Satan’s choice weapon; but tongues inflamed from above are the special instruments of grace.
Acts 2:12 , Acts 2:13
Men are sure to be divided in opinion upon the best and divinest things. Some wonder ignorantly, others ridicule maliciously, and a few adore reverently.
Acts 2:14 , Acts 2:15
Again we notice the mildness of Peter, he does not grow indignant at the charge of drunkenness, but answers it with the gentlest argument. His discourse which follows is most of it quoted from the Old Testament. Christ’s scholars never become wiser than the Bible; the Spirit is given, not to supersede the Scriptures, but to enable us to understand and use them.
Acts 2:16-20
These signs of wrath began to show themselves when Israel slew its King upon the cross; then the sun was turned into darkness. Yet more powerfully did they occur at the destruction of Jerusalem: blood, fire, and vapour of smoke filled the whole city. The year of the redeemed is also the day of vengeance of our God.
Acts 2:21
This portion from Joel is read in the service of the Karaite Jews on the day of Pentecost, and it is extremely probable that it was the lesson for the day in Peters time; he was therefore doubly wise in making it his text.
Acts 2:21
The last verse is so encouraging that we will read it again
Acts 2:21
Is any one of us now seeking the Lord? Let him find comfort in this gracious assurance, for no soul ever perished calling upon the name of the Lord.
Evening
“Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?”
Acts 2:22-42 , Acts 2:47
Peter having begun to preach, soon came to the marrow of his subject, and testified concerning Jesus.
Acts 2:22-24
This was plain speech. Peter had no fear of man, he pressed the truth home upon the conscience. Pray for all ministers that they may be equally courageous.
Acts 2:29-32
David’s prophecy and the witness of the apostles agreed together; here was convincing evidence for all devout inquirers. Nor was this all, for the miraculous gifts now manifestly bestowed were further proofs of the Messiahship of Jesus. Peter proceeded to dwell upon that argument.
Acts 2:34 , Acts 2:35
David could not have referred to himself, but to one who was his Lord, even to Jesus, now risen and ascended.
Acts 2:37
The concluding words, “Him have ye crucified,” were the sharp hook by which, as a good fisher of men, Peter caught their hearts. The first word of the awakened showed a right feeling; Peter’s love in calling them “men and brethren,” had created love in them, and they, in return, address the despised disciples by the same name. If there are any unconverted ones in this family, may they even now inquire, “What shall we do to be saved?”
Acts 2:40
His gospel was very simple; believing repentance, and baptismal profession were required, and nothing more. This same gospel belonged to their children as well as to themselves.
Acts 2:47
Let us pray that such a state of things may again be seen among the people of God, and let us try to produce it.
Thou art gone up on high,
To mansions in the skies;
And round thy throne unceasingly
The songs of praise arise.
Thou art gone up on high;
But thou wilt come again,
With all the bright ones of the sky
Attendant in thy train.
Forthwith a tongue of fire
Is seen on every brow;
Each heart receives the Father’s light,
The Word’s enkindling glow.
The Holy Ghost on all
Is mightily outpoured,
Who straight in divers tongues declare
The wonders of the Lord.
The Father and the Son,
And Spirit we adore;
Oh, may the Spirit’s gifts be poured
On us for evermore.
What a beautiful sight, when the children of light
In their primitive purity shone!
The disciples of old never strayed from the fold,
But they all were united in one.
The affections of grace were with prayer and with praise
Carried on with their every employ;
Their meals were all blest, and their hearts they expressed
In songs of angelical joy.
Their impotent foes could no longer oppose,
Or withhold their extorted esteem;
But were forced to give place to a torrent of grace,
And were all carried down with the stream.
Our hearts adore the matchless name,
Omnipotent to bless,
The name of Jesus, still the same
Despite our feebleness.
Once in the temple gate we lay
Crippled, till he restored;
But lo, we stand and walk to-day,
Yea, leap to praise the Lord.
All hail, thou dear restoring name,
We will our tongues employ,
To bid the souls which still are lame,
Believe and leap for joy.
Though sinners boldly join against the Lord to rise,
Against his Christ combine, th’ Anointed to despise;
Though earth disdain, and hell engage,
Vain is their rage, their counsel vain.
Jesus the Saviour reigns! on Sion is his throne;
The Lord’s decree sustains his own begotten Son:
Up from the grave he bids him rise,
And mount the skies, with power to save.
Oh, serve the Lord with fear, and rev’rence his command;
With sacred joy draw near, with solemn trembling stand;
Kneel at his throne, your homage bear,
His power declare, and kiss the Son.
Be the matter what it may,
Speak the honest truth alway;
He who lies a pain to waive,
Is at heart a coward slave.
He who speaks with lying tongue
Adds to wrong a greater wrong,
Much provoked is God Most High,
When we dare to tell a lie.
Unaw’d by man’s authority,
Unable to forbear,
What we have seen and heard of thee,
O Lord, we must declare.
The balmy virtue of thy death
We must through life proclaim,
And publish with our latest breath,
Salvation through thy name.
Jesus stands with arms extended,
(Risen from his dazzling throne),
Sees his servants’ warfare ended,
Sends his flaming chariot down,
Smiles triumphant,
Reaches out the palm and crown.
Should he call e’en us t’inherit
Joys for martyr’d saints prepared,
He will fill us with his Spirit,
Pledge of our supreme reward;
Sinking, dying,
We shall view our heavenly Lord.

It Is Well With My Soul
Symphony of Love Series
👨🎤📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈👩🎤
I'm sure you've heard of Job and his afflictions before. It is in those times of pain that he made the statement:
"For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:" (Job 19:25).
The story of Job might not seem like much to people and they may not relate to it. To some, it just remains a story. If so, then let me tell you of Horatio Spafford.
He was a very affluent Lawyer that lived in the 1800's. Like Job however, things began to go sour for him. It began with the death of his son of 2 years. He was then ruined financially when a significant amount of his invested wealth went up in flames with the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Two years later, the little left of his wealth also got hit by an economic downturn. He decided to travel to Europe with his family only to be held up at the last minute by problems that arose as a result of the fire.
He soon received a heartbreaking message from his wife after the ship his family was on, had an accident at sea. The message read: "Saved alone …". All four of his daughters, died at sea.
Quite remarkable however, is the fact that it was on his way to meet his grieving wife that He composed the hymn, "It Is Well With My Soul", just as his ship passed near where his daughters had died. Despite all the tumultuous occurrences, he still trusted in the Lord. Despite all his pain, he didn't blame or curse God.
You can learn a thing or two from Horatio. No matter what comes your way or the ups and downs you may go through, forever trust and believe in the Lord. Tell yourself it is well with your soul. All things are working together for your good.
Thought Provoking Verse:
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life,
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
But Lord, 'tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul.

Exodus 15:1-27 KJV
Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. [2] The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. [3] The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. [4] Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. [5] The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone. [6] Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. [7] And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. [8] And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. [9] The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. [10] Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters. [11] Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? [12] Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. [13] Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. [14] The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. [15] Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. [16] Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. [17] Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established. [18] The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. [19] For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. [20] And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. [21] And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. [22] So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. [23] And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. [24] And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? [25] And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, [26] And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. [27] And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

He's Still Glorified
Today’s Saying
WHAT within me and without
Hourly on my spirit weighs,
Burdening heart and soul with doubt,
Darkening all my weary days;
In it I behold Thy will,
God, who givest rest and peace;
And my heart is calm and still,
Waiting till Thou send release.
A. H. FRANCKE
Today’s Scripture
That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.
Phillipians 3:10
Today’s Sermonette
Whatever thy grief or trouble be, take every drop in thy cup from the hand of Almighty God.
He with whom "the hairs of thy head are all numbered," knoweth every throb of thy brow, each hardly drawn breath, each shoot of pain, each beating of the fevered pulse, each sinking of the aching heart.
Receive, then, what are trials to thee, not in the main only, but one by one, from His all-loving hands; thank His love for each; unite each with the sufferings of thy Redeemer; pray that He will thereby hallow them to thee.
Thou wilt not know now what He thereby will work in thee; yet, day by day, shalt thou receive the impress of the likeness of the ever-blessed Son, and in thee, too, while thou knowest it not, God shall be glorified.
Lord, use my suffering to bring glory to you and to draw me deeper into your love.
Today’s Supplication
Father, inculcate in us that, whenever we feel the heat of trials, to remember that You have your eyes on us and will keep watching intently until You see Your image in us. Amen.

Cast Your Cares on the Lord (2 Samuel 17:15-29)
1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; And hide not thyself from my supplication.
2 Attend unto me, and answer me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan,
3 Because of the voice of the enemy, Because of the oppression of the wicked; For they cast iniquity upon me, And in anger they persecute me.
4 My heart is sore pained within me: And the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, And horror hath overwhelmed me.
6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! Then would I fly away, and be at rest.
7 Lo, then would I wander far off, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah
8 I would haste me to a shelter From the stormy wind and tempest.
9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongue; For I have seen violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: Iniquity also and mischief are in the midst of it.
11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: Oppression and guile depart not from its streets.
12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; Then I could have borne it: Neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; Then I would have hid myself from him:
13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, My companion, and my familiar friend.
14 We took sweet counsel together; We walked in the house of God with the throng.
15 Let death come suddenly upon them, Let them go down alive into Sheol; For wickedness is in their dwelling, in the midst of them.
16 As for me, I will call upon God; And Jehovah will save me.
17 Evening, and morning, and at noonday, will I complain, and moan; And he will hear my voice.
18 He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me; For they were many that strove with me.
19 God will hear, and answer them, Even he that abideth of old, Selah The men who have no changes, And who fear not God.
20 He hath put forth his hands against such as were at peace with him: He hath profaned his covenant.
21 His mouth was smooth as butter, But his heart was war: His words were softer than oil, Yet were they drawn swords.
22 Cast thy burden upon Jehovah, and he will sustain thee: He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23 But thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: Bloodthirsty and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; But I will trust in thee. — Psalm 55 | American Standard Version (ASV) The American Standard Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Genesis 11:9; Numbers 30:2; Deuteronomy 33:27; 1 Samuel 1:16; 2 Samuel 16:7-8; Job 15:32; Job 19:19; Psalm 5:9; Psalm 10:1; Psalm 12:2; Psalm 12:8; Psalm 41:9; Psalm 42:4; Psalm 57:2-3; Psalm 103:4; Psalm 116:3; Isaiah 4:6; Isaiah 21:4; Jeremiah 9:2; Jeremiah 48:28; Acts 3:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:3; 1 Peter 5:7

The Bible Old Testament
Ruth
Chapter 4
1 Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down. 2 And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down. 3 And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's: 4 And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it. 5 Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance. 6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it. 7 Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel. 8 Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe. 9 And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi. 10 Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem: 12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman. 13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son. 14 And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. 15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him. 16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it. 17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David. 18 Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron, 19 And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab, 20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon, 21 And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed, 22 And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

THE BIBLE THE BOOK OF GOD
Exodus
Chapter 15
25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, 26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. 27 And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Philippians 4:13 [Paul wrote,] “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.
Psalm 84:11 No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 36:8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
May your heart be as the heart of David, who felt the pain of others when he heard of the death of the priests at Nod, and not like the heart of Saul, who only felt anger when others did not agree with him. 1 Samuel 22
May God send you a friend in the midst of your troubles and distress that will bring the comfort and strength of God to your heart, and renew your dedication to the Lord, pointing you to Him as your Defender, Redeemer, Source, and Master. 1 Samuel 23
May you find and enjoy the security of the Lord as the gate for His sheep, and may you learn and follow the voice of the Lord as the shepherd of His flock, for He will defend you from the attacking wolf, and has laid down His life for you, giving you life, abundant and full. John 10
Pray, My child, at whatever cost is required to do so. Turn your heart to Me daily, hourly, continually, and let your voice follow your heart, for as you speak to Me, regularly, familiarly, intimately, you will find that you speak for Me to others who are being sought by Me. Even the world understands that if you walk among and associate with wise men, you will be wise; how much more true it is, then, that if you devote time to spend in My presence, it will transform you. Bit by bit, you will find, springing up from within you, living water flowing out to transform the desert wilderness of your soul into the promised land of the kingdom of God, as you find yourself imitating and demonstrating the nature of God, responding to circumstances and people differently than you used to. By abiding in My presence, and allowing My Spirit to work in you, the fullness of the Godhead will be available to make you complete in Me. Can you imagine becoming aware of the incredible awesomeness of the riches of My spiritual treasures and the amazing magnitude of the power of My resurrection which releases the victory of life in all aspects of your daily walk? Is there any way, then, that your heart could be prevented from pouring forth praises for Who I am? Is there any power that could stop your lips from bursting forth in worship of the One Who so freely and liberally emptied Himself to redeem and sanctify you? Since I dwell in the praises of My people, let the intent of your will give direction to the meditation of your heart, swelling into the thoughts of your mind and giving voice to the words of your mouth, to be confirmed by the deeds of your hands and the steps of your feet, so that your life will give glory to the Father, Who is fully deserving of all acclaim. He Who is the blessed and only Sovereign, eternal, immortal, invisible, dwelling in unapproachable light, seated on His throne, possessing life eternal, has placed all the attributes of the Godhead at your disposal. It is His will and pleasure to give you such great promises, precious and magnificent, allowing you to become partakers of My divine nature. Through His Word and His Spirit, He gives you enlightenment to escape the corruption of lust that is in the world, if you hold fast the beginning of your assurance firm to the end. So remain loyal to the Father that He can use you even as He used Me.
May you give all glory to the name of the Lord because of His love and faithfulness. Psalm 115
May you not be like those who worship what their hands have made, lifeless images made of silver or gold, for those who make them will be like them, as will all who trust in them. Psalm 115
May you fear the Lord and trust in Him, for He is your help and shield; He remembers you and will bless you, small and great alike. Psalm 115
May you be patient and cool-tempered, slow to anger and in control of yourself that you may appease strife and calm disputes, extinguishing the contention that a hot-tempered person starts. Proverbs 15:18
May the Lord make your path obvious and your way an open, level highway, as He does for the just and the upright, rescuing them from the hedge of briers and patch of thorns that the sluggard and slothful face. Proverbs 15:19

Morning and Evening with A.W. Tozer Devotional for February 23
Tozer in the Morning Chasing Truth
To think well and usefully a man must be endowed with certain indispensable qualifications. He must, for one thing, be completely honest and transparently sincere. Another qualification is courage. The timid man dare not think lest he discover himself, an experience to him as shocking as the discovery that he has cancer. The sincere thinker comes to his task with the abandonment of a Saul of Tarsus, crying, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? Thinking carries a moral imperative. The searcher for truth must be ready to obey truth without reservation or it will elude him. Let him refuse to follow the light and he dooms himself to darkness. The coward may be shrewd or clever but he can never be a wise thinker, for wisdom is at bottom a moral thing and will have no truck with evil. Again, the effective religious thinker must possess some degree of knowledge. A Chinese saying has it, Learning without thought is a snare; thought without learning is a danger. I have met Christi ans with sharp minds but limited outlook who saw one truth and, being unable to relate it to other truths, became narrow extremists, devoutly cultivating their tiny plot, naively believing that their little fence enclosed the whole earth. An acquaintance with or at least a perception of the significance of what Kant called the starry heavens above and the moral law within is necessary to right thinking. Add to this a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures, a good historic sense and some intimate contact with the Christian religion as it is practiced currently and you have the raw material for creative thought. Still this is not enough to make a thinker.
Tozer in the Evening GOD'S SOVEREIGN PLAN
Many people continue to live in daily fear that the world "is coming to an end." Only in the Scriptures do we have the description and prediction of the age-ending heavenly and earthly events when our Lord and Savior will be universally acknowledged as King of kings and Lord of lords. God's revelation makes it plain that in "that day" all will acclaim Him "victor!" Human society, generally, refuses to recognize God's sovereignty or His plan for His redeemed people. But no human being or world government will have any control in that fiery day of judgement yet to come. John's vision of things to come tells us clearly and openly that at the appropriate time this world will be taken away from men and placed in the hands of the only Man who has the wisdom and authority to rightly govern. That Man is the eternal Son of God, the worthy Lamb, our Lord Jesus Christ!
