Reddie Fic Recs

Okay so these are the ones I go back to and reread constantly!! All listed have multiple chapters, impeccable grammar/structure, and RIDICULOUSLY good characterization/dialogue. Theyre also all located on AO3. My obsession is too late for peak fandom interactions so these are what keep my hyper fixation alive.

1. In The Heat Of The Summer (You’re So Different From The Rest) by Kaboomslang

There’s a heatwave in L.A., the first time Richie sees Eddie naked.

Or

One very hot year in the life of two idiots in love, working shit out.

It is so so so so fucking good I can’t stand it. It’s an Eddie Lives AU that is 15 Chapters and 109,525 words of pining and comfort and beauty. Eddie comes to stay with Richie in LA after the events of It Chapter 2. Literally my only complaint is that Stan stays dead however the characterization of everyone and the way the writer handles their grief more than made up for it.

2. A Strange Sense of Familiarity by Katranga

“So Eddie, what brings you to the bar tonight?" Richie asked. "Gonna rebound from the divorce? Pick up a hot young twenty-something to feel young again?”

“Fuck you,” Eddie said, jutting his chin forward. “What a terrible way to ruin the mood.”

“I’m sorry, all my moods are poorly cultivated. What mood were you looking for?”

A nervous lump grew in Eddie's throat. He threw back his drink to get rid of it.

Hand wrapped around the glass he’d just slammed back onto the bar, he said, “The mood that gets me leaving with a schlubby forty-something.”

Pre-chapter two, Eddie and Richie meet and don't remember each other, but have an instant connection anyway...

This may be my favorite fic of all time. This is a Canon Divergence AU where Richie and Eddie meet at a bar prior to the events of It Chapter 2 and start sleeping together. Eddie is divorced so there’s no infidelity storyline (which I appreciate) HOWEVER Richie is still famous and in the closet so there’s still the secret love affair storyline (that I love). The characterization is literally perfect, it has amazing dialogue, and my boy Stan is alive and involved. The OCs are so so good too and I’m beyond obsessed with all the thought the author obviously put into it.

Richie’s a struggling standup comedian slash bartender with a side hustle of sexting rich guys for cash. Eddie is recently divorced, recently out, and reluctant to dive into either the dating or hookup scene. He decides to give Sugr, a 'dating app with no commitment', a shot.

Katranga NEVER MISSES. Even though the losers club is in a completely different universe, the characterization and dialogue is so them that it scratches every itch in my brain. This is such a funny and adorable AU I would recommend to anyone that needs a break from the high stress and extremely high stakes of the traditional It Universe.

4. Here In Your Arms by kaspbrak_kid

Richie had no idea what to expect when Stan and Patty asked him to be their daughter's godfather, but it definitely wasn't becoming the part-time dad to a newborn.

This fic makes me cry like a bitch in the best way possible. This is a several years later fic in a Eddie and Stan Lives AU where Richie becomes godfather to Stan and Patty’s firstborn. This is so so special to me because it perfectly preserves The Loser’s Club dynamics in a safe environment and gives me all the found family warm fuzzies I so desperately need. As usual the characterization is phenomenal and Richie and Eddie’s relationship throughout this fic is so so special to me.

5. Richie Tozier’s Five-Step Mission in Getting Over His Childhood Sweetheart by MissDinahDarling

Alternatively: five times Richie tries to get over Eddie and the one time he gets under him instead.

This fic is so so fucking funny I love everything about it. Its also a Stan and Eddie Live AU and thehe dialogue and losers club dynamics are so so funny. I love seeing little snippets of how the losers lives are moving on and especially appreciate that Bev and Ben didn’t move as quickly as some fics do. Richies denial and stupidity are so relatable and its an extremely comforting read.

6. River by Unicornpoe

The thing—the thing is that Eddie hasn’t seen Richie in nearly five years.

They’ve gotten good at avoiding each other. They alternate holidays and get-togethers, only showing up when they’re sure the other won’t be present. They’re still in the same fucking city but Eddie makes sure to shop on the other side of town from their old place where Richie still lives, makes sure not to go to any of Richie’s favorite restaurants or bars or cafes or goddamn park benches. Eddie doesn’t join in on the Losers’s group FaceTime sessions when he knows Richie’ll be joining, and Richie does the same for him.

They couldn’t make their relationship work, but they’re fucking experts at being exes.

Eddie goes to spend the holidays at Bill and Mike's cabin in Vermont, and is surprised when Richie is already there. Things get worse when they're snowed in alone. Things get even more worse when Eddie remembers that he's still in love with him.

This fic gives me the most acute sense of profound longing I’ve ever had in my life. The EXTREMELY angsty hurt/comfort au I’ve ever read in my life. Not extremely inclusive of the rest of The Losers Club, but it hits hard.

7. This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by camerasparring

Just as the last car is passing them, Prince Charming makes a snuffling noise and Eddie freezes, still pressed on top of him. He’s suddenly aware of every single place they’re touching, and Eddie thanks the brutal Chicago cold - there’s no way he could pop a boner when it’s this freezing. God, he hates himself.

The man opens his eyes for a moment and looks directly into Eddie’s eyes. Eddie’s mouth hangs open. He tries to smile, but he doesn’t think he achieves it. Instead, he swallows and says:

“Merry Christmas.”

The guy passes back out without a word.

or, the While You Were Sleeping AU no one asked for. Set Christmas 1995 and the gang is late 20's/early 30's

I read this before ever even hearing of the movie While You Were Sleeping. While the movie is now one of my favorites, it is absolutely nothing compared to the hilarious romcom of this fic. Found family! Secrets! Drama! Stan the mother fucking man! It is so so good and gives me all the good feelings the holidays provide whenever I read it.

8. Scratch On The Moon by Vulcanodon

Eddie Kraspbak has put aside his old life for good. He drives a stagecoach now and keeps to himself- his days of running with the Denbrough gang are long gone. But when two old friends show up and tell him they have unfinished business back in Derry, Eddie can’t resist the chance to put a final nail in the coffin of the past…and maybe find out why Richie broke his promise all those years ago.

“I’ll take left if you take right,” Eddie calls out but when he looks over Richie isn’t even firing his gun; he’s looking at Eddie with a strange, unreadable expression on his face.

“What is it?” Eddie asks, panicking. “Are you hit?”

“No,” Richie says, “I just. I just wanted you know. That I…that I feel the same way.”

“What?” Eddie asks, totally lost. A bullet whistles past his ear.

“I mean I...” Richie says, as if he’s struggling to get it out. “I feel the same way about you. I mean. That I always did.”

“Could we maybe postpone this conversation?” Eddie says, having to yell over the gunfire. “To a time when we aren’t getting shot at?”

9. You Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog (And They Call It Puppy Love) by Fluffifullness

Okay, Richie, so you’ve just been Shaggy Dog’d, you’re either kicking it in the weirdest of all possible afterlives or you never died and the sewer clown is punking you. What next?

(or: Eddie makes it out of Derry, gets a divorce, and adopts a dog.)

Richie gets “Shaggy Dog’d” after he sacrifices himself for Eddie during the events of It Chapter 2. Grief, pining, and Richie’s internal monologue being fucking hilarious. And STAN LIVES!!!!!!

10. Thanks For Pudding Up With Me by Mooeydooey

Eddie Kaspbrak was once one of the most influential professional chefs in New York. After an unfortunate incident in his kitchen, he loses his job and most of his earnings. Down on his luck, with no where else to go, he accepts a job offer with the ragtag 'Prospect Test Kitchen' in Boston.

What starts as a small passion project, making cooking tutorials online, becomes a lot more complicated and bigger than they could ever imagine when Bill brings in a new addition to their team. A comedian with a shocking background and surprise talent for culinary arts: Richie Tozier.

Eddie's the only one who doesn't like the new recruit, but Bill bribes Eddie into giving Richie a chance. At the end of six months, Richie's contract will expire. Eddie will get to decide whether they offer him a contract renewal, or refuse to re-hire him.

Things are heating up in the Prospect street Test Kitchen! Will Eddie stick to his guns, and keep his dignity? Or will he get lost in the sauce?

SO FUCKING FUNNY!!! An absolutely genius buzzfeed-esque au that is exactly what I need when I want a laugh. My favorite parts are when they go into like a third person screenplay mode for describing the events in the videos. I cannot get enough of this enemies(?) to friends to lovers au and I’m so so glad it exists.

11. A Fistful of Coal Dust by Jay Auris (nighthawkms)

Eddie Kaspbrak usually works alone. For a bounty hunting mage, this is unheard of; dangerous, foolhardy. But for Eddie - stricken with a dangerous abnormality to his magic - it's the safest way to survive.

When a new bounty takes him to the backwater town of Derry, he's not expecting anything more than a hard job done right for good money. But Eddie's past is about to catch up with him, and Derry could face the consequences. He'll have to team up with a rag-tag bunch of misfits - a sheriff with too much on his shoulders, a tavern owner haunted by loss, and four other hunters with their own secrets and motivations - if he wants to survive.

And maybe, if he's lucky, he'll get an answer to the one question that's been bugging him since he got to Derry: Who is Richie Tozier, and what does he want from Eddie?

A super fun Steampunk-Western-Magic-Bounty Hunter AU that has the perfect ratio of action, drama, and intrigue. I have no idea how the author came up with such an amazing idea and how they were able to do so much incredible world building but I absolutely LOVE IT.

i wanna talk abt the comic a bit!!

It’s gonna be 34pages and im gonna print it and sell them at a doujin event in japan in June. I just applied to it last week and i don’t know if i will be accepted but 90% sure abt it. I just missed doing these events!! Last time i did was 4years ago and i sold reddie comic and merch and it went so well(cuz reddie was popular in japan as well)

and me being literally the only one person in japan who’s obsessed with tedtrent is gonna make me look like a fool but im just excited for making comic of them and just being at the event and surrounded by all those passionate artists there!!

The comic is about 4 times ted met crimmlet kinda thing and it’s basically pre-slash will they won’t they vibes:))))

I won’t print that much but im gonna make it available digitally for free(pay whatever you want style) on ko-fi!! Hope i can finished it in next month!

The Derry Town House is a small, unassuming hotel.

It's old-fashioned and ugly, in desperate need of an update.

It's a strange place for Bill's agent to have booked him.

Stranger still, Bill isn't the only celebrity staying there. Richie Tozier and Beverly Marsh are both checked in. Beverly's husband is with her, a man named Tom who makes the hairs on the back of Bill's neck stand on end even though he's never met either of them before.

The room next to his is booked by a youthful architect, Ben Hanscom, who invades Bill's table at dinner, inviting himself to the seat next to him. Ben is there to meet a client about a private job, but Bill only half listens, jotting down thoughts in his notebook as the night draws on.

He observes the other guests with barley concealed interest, picking them over like they were characters in one of his stories.

There is Stanley Uris, an accountant, who complains to the front desk because none of his calls to Georgia are going through and he wants to speak to his wife; and  Eddie Kaspbrak, a small, terrified looking man who's on holiday with his overbearing wife and looks like he would rather be anywhere else. 

Eddie's wife makes a fuss at dinner, screaming at him for some mistake before she storms up to their room. Bill thinks he should go comfort him, rises in his seat automatically, but Richie is already there, glass of whiskey in hand, sliding down in the seat beside Eddie as if he belongs there. A seventh, and final, man joins them as the evening draws on. His name is Mike Hanlon, he's a librarian and he makes a beeline for Bill's table when he recognises him. Much like Ben, he invites himself to sit down, but Bill finds him rather charming.

At some point Beverly's husband goes to the bar and doesn't come back. She looks around, eyes darting nervously like a cornered cat, until she realises he isn't watching her, and her composure breaks. She laughs out loud, startling them all.

"Come on," she says. "I don't wanna eat alone."

Ben pushes everyone's tables together and Richie drags in their chairs. The atmosphere is almost like a party. They all get on so well, instinctively knowing which buttons to push and when to hold off, making each other laugh. Richie has his arm around Eddie's shoulders, one hand petting his hair. Beverly sits with her knees drawn up, tucking herself into Ben's side. Bill drapes his legs over Mike's lap, yawning, abandoning his notebook in favour of soaking in the warmth of the strangers. Stan flutters between them all like some excited bird, talking over them. Eventually, apologetically, Eddie remembers his wife upstairs. He excuses himself, ignoring Richie's attempts to talk him into staying with them, and heads off to bed. Richie's eyes follow him as he leaves the room. It's hardly five minutes later when Eddie returns, wild eyed and shivering.

His wife is gone.

The bedroom is empty. Only Eddie's suitcases remain.

He's practically hysterical by the time Richie grips his arm and steers him towards the lobby, telling Eddie in a hushed voice that they'll check outside and see if his car is still there.

Beverly doesn't want to find Tom. It's unspoken, but Bill knows it anyway. Stan and Mike offer to check the bar, circling to protect themselves rather than hunting for someone they've lost. Ben takes her room key and checks upstairs. Bill sits with her in silence, trying to think of the right words to say, of how to ask the question when he already knows the answer. "Yes, he hits me," Beverly says, reaching for the packet of cigarettes in her jacket.

Mike and Stan come back from the bar, carrying a bottle or two, but having found no sight of Tom or anyone else.

Beverly smokes in silence until Richie and Eddie return.

Richie runs a hand through his hair, distracted, and laughs uneasily when they ask him if Eddie's car is gone. "We couldn't get outside," he says. "I mean we went through the front door but we just kept looping back into the lobby every time."

Eddie whines low and has to sit down in the nearest chair. He puts his head between his knees, breathing deep and Richie rubs his back soothingly. Bill gets up, wondering if this is some stupid joke, and heads out to try it himself. He walks out the front door.

And walks back into the hotel lobby.

Ben is standing there, his eyes wide and face pale. "I can't find her husband anywhere," he says. "I looked, I really looked, and I found blood in the bathroom, Bill." They all try to leave - together, in pairs, or on their own, but it doesn't work.

Stan excuses himself, heads upstairs, then walks back into the lobby.

"What did you do?" Richie asks, voice harsh, and it takes Bill a second to catch up to why.

Stan only shrugs. "I thought I would see if jumping from the roof changed anything. It didn't, clearly."

Richie throws his hands up in despair and rounds them all up, ushering them back into the dinning room like a sheep dog nipping at the heels of his flock. Bill finds his notebook open on the table, facing up. Scribbled brightly across the page, in big red lettering, are the words 'WELCOME HOME, LOSERS CLUB".

Yes, lol. Some problematic ones from fandoms other than It.

If we just stick to It, I honestly thought I would just be about Reddie, and now I’m sitting here like. But Stan? Stan belongs with those boys, too.

23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.

OMG LOU I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD ASK THIS!!!

Ok. So. My absolute most favorite fic that I’ve ever written is a Stiles/Derek fic called “It Was Only a Kiss” because in true to myself form, I wanted to write a soft fluffy summer fic, and… well. It turned into something exploring some very serious themes. I kept asking myself how the fic got away from me so much, how did it end up like this, which led to “Mr. Brightside” by the Killers. For the longest time it was called The Yellow Speedo, and like you only know it as that, lol. (I have no idea if anyone will read it, but please, please read the tags first.)

I just love it because it has all the elements I love about fic? Emotional hurt/comfort? Check. Shared baths in the middle of the night? Check. Hair washing? Check. Fierce found family? Check CHECK AND MORE CHECK!

Ngl, it kind of makes me sad that this isn’t my most popular fic, and although I do really like my most popular fic, this one is so much better imo.

31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?

First I want to recognize all of the comments I’ve gotten on fics I wrote with ace/aro/trans characters, and people saying it helped them learn something about themself. Like, the fact that I wrote something that changed someone is just so… It’s a thing. I’ve never been the most Popular, but that doesn’t mean my work hasn’t made a difference to someone.

That being said, the absolute nicest thing anyone has ever said about a fic to me came on a pre-slash reddie fic called “I Want To Hold Your Hand.”

Americandy wrote: My whole entire heart melted over this. So in-character and sweet and nondescript but stunning in its lowkey-ness. I may have cried. And reread it about forty times. The way Richie says “Maybe we could do this again. Go see a movie, just you and me,” LORD... the character beats of having Richie kiss Eddie weirdly on the cheek before he loses his nerve before running off and Eddie then chasing him down to kiss him on the lips... SO on point. Just. Grand.

I was on cloud nine for fucking *days*.

I also want to mention that Lou (pencileater if you want to go read it) wrote one of the best comments I’ve ever gotten on my fic “We Won’t Settle for Less”. I literally burst into tears when I read it. I was at a really low point in my writing confidence at that point and just. <3 It’s too long to post though, bahaha.

46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I have no idea, lol. Read them all? Lol, jk (but also).

Ok, but seriously, it’s hard because, like, some of them have some very heavy themes? And like ?? And I wrote them for different reasons and different fandoms. Like the one I want people read most right now is Death is Just So Full (which I’m posting ch 5 today, don’t think I forgot, lol) but like I know a lot of people don’t/won’t like it. But I put so much effort into it, so much of myself? But I’ve figured out it has like three things fandom doesn’t seem to like, two of which, I will give them. One was me projecting, the other was ??? I have no idea why I did what I did. I blame Nina LaCour and will just say it was the only story I was capable of writing at the time. The other, I’d like the fucking proof that I’m wrong. Because WHERE ARE THE RECEIPTS? *slams hand on table repeatedly* I might be less angry about it if someone could just give me some fucking evidence instead of just saying ‘this is how it was in canon’ like. OMG. *rips out hair*

Ok. Well, that took a turn. But anyways, lol, yeah I don’t know. If you want to read some fluff in the It fandom, read “I Want to Hold Your Hand” because it is just so soft and so nice, and yeah. Just a good lil piece of writing, imo.

Amarin hit hard as generics loom for fish oil drug Vascepa

Generic drugmakers Hikma and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories have won a surprise victory in a US patent lawsuit that sets up early competition to cardiovascular drug Vascepa, Amarin’s only commercial product.

Shares in Amarin lost more than two thirds of their value pre-market following the decision in the District Court of Nevada to invalidate six of the company’s patents on Vascepa (icosapent ethyl), which could lead to further generic launches.

The six patents had been due to expire in 2030, but were invalidated on the grounds of “obviousness”, according to District Court Judge Miranda Du.

Ireland-domiciled Amarin said it would appeal the verdict, but investors panicked that it could annihilate sales of Vascepa, just as the purified fish oil-based drug was gathering pace after a US approval to expand its use dramatically in December. The FDA nod followed a unanimous advisory committee vote the previous month.

The product has been on the US market since 2012 to treat adults with very elevated triglyceride levels in the blood, a relatively small population of around 600,000 that drove sales to $430 million last year.

The December approval for cardiovascular risk reduction as an add-on to statin therapy swelled the potentially eligible population to 10 million, and prompted analysts to start talking about multibillion-dollar sales for the drug – and a possible takeover bid for the company.

According to IQVIA data, sales of the drug had swelled dramatically to around $919 million in the US alone by the end of February, which would indicate a phenomenal rate of growth after the approval.

The patent verdict puts Vascepa’s potential in a rather different light.

There would be far fewer financial returns for the cost of running Amarin’s large-scale REDUCE-IT trial – which showed Vascepa slashed heart attacks and stroke by 25% versus placebo – if that market ends up being split between multiple generic suppliers, all competing on price.

Analysts at Citi said there was no expectation that Hikma would win its patent litigation, and they note Amarin has previously settled patent litigation with Teva with an agreement that it hold off on launching its generic until 2029.

Prior to the verdict they had modelled peak sales of $2.4 billion, reaching more than $1 billion as early as 2021, but note that if Amarin loses exclusivity before 2029 that peak estimate could be too high.

Hikma says it is now working to get its generic approved by the FDA and “evaluating its option” for a possible launch – at risk of legal action and damages – while Amarin’s appeal is heard.

Citi’s analysts says that if Hikma launches at a 50-60% discount to Vascepa it could make up to $125 million from its generic in 2021, and up to $90 million if it prices its drug 60-70% lower, assuming a 25% market share.

“Amarin strongly disagrees with the ruling,” said Amarin’s chief executive John Thero, adding that the company “will vigorously pursue all available remedies, including an appeal of the court’s decision and a preliminary injunction pending appeal to, if [a generic] is approved by FDA, prevent launch of generic versions of Vascepa in the US.”

Thinking about post-chapter two where Eddie lives and the Losers are all a tight knit codependent adult friendship group.

Ben and Beverly have an official engagement party because they’re both actual adults who have people they know outside of their circle of childhood best friends, so the Losers try to make small talk with these people over drinks and canapes in one of Ben’s lovely and spacious homes.

Eddie and Richie gravitate towards each other early on in the evening. Eddie is freshly divorced and unused to parties. He doesn’t do small talk.

Richie doesn’t want to spend the rest of the night confirming that yes, he is that Richie Tozier. It either goes badly and they quote his old stuff back to him while he cringes, or it goes well and they hate his old stuff but they hate him too by association. 

It’s so much easier, so much nicer, to spend the evening together.

They end up leaning against the far wall, just like they used to at every school dance, laughing at their own dumb jokes and ignoring everyone else. 

That’s why they’re perfectly situated to hear the conversation that Beverly is having with some pretty woman who has her hair up in a high ponytail thats eerily reminiscent of Greta Keene.  “Your friend Bill, what’s his deal?” she asks.

“Recently divorced, finding himself,” Beverly says. 

“Oh,” the woman looks sad for a moment, then brightens. “Well, what about Mike?” 

“Helping Bill find himself,” Beverly says. 

Richie chokes on his mouthful of champagne and Eddie starts wheezing. 

“Ugh. Ok. Stanley?” 

“Very happily married,” Beverly says, something steely in her voice that suggests she knows a wedding ring wouldn’t normally stop this particular woman. 

“Shame,” the woman responds with a shrug of her shoulders. She takes a sip from her champagne. 

Eddie and Richie exchange glances. 

It feels like the final pick of every game of dodgeball in their lives. They’re the only two bodies left on the field. Who is she going to choose? The gangly four-eyes or the short asthmatic?

“I guess Eddie is kind of cute,” she says.

Richie punches Eddie on the arm while Eddie silently cheers. 

It’s a pointless competition. 

Both he and Richie know that Eddie isn’t interested, he just likes beating Richie. 

Eddie waits expectantly for Beverly to brush the woman off with the same excuse she’d given about Bill - newly divorced, emotional wreck, overly dependant on a close friend.  “Eddie’s in love with Richie,” is what she actually says.
