Happy STS! How intertwined are Skrael and Bellroc with their respective elements? If you swapped it around so skrael had fire and Bewwo had ice, would their personalities shift? Their thought process or fighting methods ?

hmm. my version of these characters are pretty closely connected to their elements, i think, but i think i also have a very firm idea of their personalities; it's all tied up in backstory and building out the scraps, isn't it? i don't think elementswapping would change much of who they are. writing up this answer made me think so strongly of this elementswap bellroc: how easily they fit into the big white demeter hadesgame cloak, cold hands, warm heart! likewise, skrael's canon design is obviously, explicitly "frozen ice mummy," but so much of the appeal (and power) of that design is its simplicity, which makes it easy to adapt him to even such a fundamentally "opposite" element. and now—ah. now, all i'm thinking of is my kids trying not to freeze to death and failing in horrible ways (heart eyes)

the biggest thing i can think that would change is that…they'd play a lot more into subverting expectations? assuming their personalities are the same, bellroc is still the hothead and skrael still the nasty sneak, but you can't guess which is which, so their moves are a lot harder to predict. i already like the thought that their canon selves can still work with their "opposite" element, just like when skrael surprised douxie by lighting his own cigarette, but i imagine they'd deploy this a lot more deliberately here (and ofc, on a much larger scale).
