Pamietam złość i przerażenie mojej przyjaciółki kiedy po weekendzie u niej a właściwe po moim powrocie od niej nie napisałam, że dotarłam do domu. Po jakieś godzinie zadzwoniła do mnie a ja odebrałam nie wiedząc co się zaraz stronie. Na początku była szczęśliwa, że odebrałam a później zaczęłam na mnie krzyczeć dlaczego nie napisałam jak wróciłam do domu bo przecież o to prosiła. Wydawało mi się, że tak się tylko mówi, "napisz jak będziesz w domu", "daj znać jak dojedziesz wyjdę po ciebie na parking". Myślałam, że to jest coś co wypada powiedzieć, ale nikt nie bierze tego na poważnie. Myliłam się. Wychowałam się na wsi, więc taka straszna rzeczywistość, w której kobiety boją się wracać same nocą do domu jakoś mnie ominęła. Nie musiałam się o to martwić bo tu wszyscy się znali i owszem była jedna ulica, którą omijałam kiedy już się ściemniło, ale nigdy nie zastanawiała się dlaczego. Mama powiedział mi po prostu kiedyś, żeby tamtędy nie chodziła, że lepiej iść na około niż tamtędy. Jest tam sklep, nie ma lamp, więc jest ciemno a wieczorami zbierają się tam miejscowe pijaki. Mama nie chciała żebym tamtędy chodziła bo się bała. Niby wiedziała, że nic mi się nie stanie, ale pomimo to nie chciała żebym tamtędy chodziła bo w głębi serca bała się o mnie. Bo przecież samotna dziewczyna idącą ulicą musi się bać. Pamiętam, że od zawsze denerwowało mnie w szkole, że to zawsze dziewczynką zwracało się uwagę. Bo to za krótka spodnicza, za duży dekolt, za bardzo pomalowana... Nawet kiedyś w gimnazjum zapytałam dlaczego nie mogę ubrać w czerwcu których spodni a chłopcy mogą. Usłyszałam, że pokazuje wtedy nogi i rozpraszam. Wkurzyło mnie to bo nikt nigdy nie zwrócił uwagi jakimś chłopu nie możesz się tak na nią patrzeć, ale zawsze tej dziewczynie, która czuła na sobie spojrzenie tego chkopka. To zawsze dziewczyna musiała się dostosować, ograniczać i strać "nie prowokować". Co to wgl znaczy "nie prowokować"? Dlaczego kiedy mnie uczono czego nie wolno mi robić, nie uczono tego samego chłopców. Dlaczego nie zwracano im uwagi, że patrzenie jest nie odpowiednie, że zaczepianie samotnej dziewczyny na ulicy wcale nie jest zabawne i normalne... bo przecież ona go sprowokowała. Nie rozumiem jak w XXI w wciąż uprzywilejowani są mężczyźni, kolor skóry wciąż stanowi problem, wyznawan religia prowadzi do prześladowań a pochodzenie, czyjeś korzenie do strasznych podziałów i przemocy. Czy my na prawdę nie potrafimy sobie z tym poradzić. Czy na prawdę wciąż większość ludzi uważa się za lepszych bo są biali, bo są mężczyznami? Czy na prawdę zaczynamy o tym mówić kiedy jest za późno bo już doszło do tragedii? Edukaj syna, mówi dzieciom, że kobieta całująca kobietę nie jest niczym złym, że maja wybór by być sobą, być tym kim się czują i nikt nie maja prawa tego wyboru nikomu odbierać. Powtarzaj im, że kolor skóry nic nie oznacza, nic nie zmienia, że każdy jest równy, nikt nie jest lepszy i nie ma ludzi gorszych. Zacznijmy niszczyć podziały, które sami stworzyliśmy zanim te podziały zniszczą nas.

A women’s rights activist has been targeted by trolls who created fake images of her and shared them via pornographic social media accounts.

Jamie Klingler, 43, the co-founder of the #ReclaimTheseStreets campaign, said she felt “humiliated” after anonymous social media users edited images of her and sent notifications to male followers, including her father.

Friends and family told the activist on Tuesday evening that an Instagram account with a similar username to Klingler’s was posting explicit images. The pictures were not of her but were posted alongside photographs taken from her real account.

Klingler, who is involved in a High Court case taking legal action against the Metropolitan police for their cancelling of a vigil for the murder victim Sarah Everard, immediately reported the account to Instagram. It took reports from 100 people and ten hours for the social media company to remove it. Because the images were fake, the incident does not count as revenge porn and is being treated as fraud by police.

The fake account appeared to direct followers to a subscription porn site. In fact, the link was directing users to a fake webpage, which led the porn site to send a “cease and desist” letter to the webpage’s host company.

“Having to call my father and say that’s not my vagina is one of the top ten more embarrassing conversations I’ve ever had,” Klingler said. The trolls were attempting to “weaponise sex against me to humiliate me and remove me from the public eye”, she said.

Klingler blamed the law for not being up to date enough to tackle misogynistic attacks online, and said she was setting up a petition calling on Instagram to remove abuse before investigations were completed, rather than the other way around. “Laws need to catch up in terms of revenge porn & fraudulent behaviour which is bedded in misogyny,” she wrote on Twitter.

Klingler co-founded the group that organised a vigil in Clapham, south London, to commemorate Everard following her murder by the police officer Wayne Couzens, only for it to be cancelled by police due to Covid. An event took place and there were clashes with police. #ReclaimTheseStreets said the police actions breached its rights to freedom of speech and assembly. The police deny the claims.

The Online Safety Bill, due before parliament next month but not expected to become law until 2023, intends to ensure that social media platforms and many other websites show a “duty of care” to their users.

A spokesman for Meta, which owns Instagram, said: “We do not tolerate harassment on our platform and are sorry that Jamie was targeted in this way. This account was removed by one of our human reviewers for breaking our rules, and we will co-operate with law enforcement requests as needed.”
