something fascinating that ive been seeing a lot of lately are people looking at a (well-labeled) piece of media, consuming it, and then complaining about the contents. it's unreal, it's like watching someone stare at a radioactivity warning on a fence and then climbing over it, only to shriek about how radioactivity is evil and this place should not have it.
game: rated M for sex and cussing player, after playing it anyway: i cant BELIEVE this game has sex and cussing in it!!!
lot of discourse lately re. fanfics and this sort of thing too. like... idk what to tell people anymore when they play something that they clearly would not like and then complain about how problematic/horrible/wretched it is.
#im so weary lmao#recently had a long convo with a couple of younger people in some fandoms about how just because a piece of media has upsetting subjects in#it doesn't make it inherently 'problematic' or whatever#and one of them complained about how they should have been warned that it had the subject matter anyway and i had to just. point.#at the fucking rating#which had the content warning attached to it#and they said 'oh nobody looks at the ratings' BRO THATS WHAT THEYRE FOR#anyway there's more to get into re. media and hard subject matter and how exploring such things in fictional settings does not equate to#real actual actions and damage but that theres ways to handle these things with grace etc whatever#im too tired to be fucked with it rn
