I didn't think i need Dad!Desmond, but now i have him and i am not gonna give him up!
Words Desmond’s sons think about him XD
From @mysticalbasementwitch
Imagine what is going through their heads right after they reincarnated I think that ezio would have a stroke when he learns Demond’s name
From @thedragonqueen1998
@mysticalbasementwitch omg, yes!
The future was both unfamiliar and familiar to Ezio.
Life goes on, after all.
There were so many new things that Ezio found interesting to learn. These little mechanical boxes called laptops that made information just a touch away (as long as AltaĂŻr remembered to share). Devices that made life easier or better like cars, light bulbs and microwaves.
But humans are never changing.
There are cruel ones and kind ones.
There are those who are being taken advantage of and those who take advantage of those people.
And his new father?
He was certainly part of the first category.
His boss wasn’t the devil but he wasn’t exactly a saint as well. He heard and read enough to know their father’s salary is way below than the standard salary for a bartender.
But their father doesn’t seem to care.
As long as it was enough for their living expenses and still have a bit (mostly from tips) that he can save up, he was fine.
Ezio wasn’t.
Because
he was certain that their father is the same Desmond that Minerva talked to using Ezio.
It couldn’t be a coincidence that one of his brother was named after AltaĂŻr Ibn-La'Ahad. He wasn’t sure who RatonhnhakĂ©:ton was but he looked like he knew who he and AltaĂŻr were.
They kept their past close to their chest and Ezio wondered if it was because they had lived lives that made them weary of trusting anyone or if each of them had hidden agendas they could not share to one another.
They were loyal to each other as brothers, even going as far as having childish arguments and petty fights when they don’t get what they want. Ezio was sure the body of a child they all have right now had a huge impact in their bouts of temporary immaturity.
But they all share one common goal.
Their father’s happiness.
Their father who sacrifices his hard earned money and the time he can never get back just to make sure they all have everything they needed, sometimes even giving them what they wanted whenever he could.
Their father who always glanced at the dark corners whenever they were walking, teaching them what he liked to call ‘best ways to play hide and seek and tag’ that Ezio noticed

No.
They all noticed

Their father wasn’t teaching them how to play games.
He was teaching them how to run away and hide.
What kind of life did their father live before he became a bartender?
Just how much truth was laced in his joke that his parents were hippies or were cultists?
Just how sad and painful his life had been that a small apartment, an undervalued job and three young children were enough to make him smile?
Ezio wanted to know.
But, at the same time, he wanted to honor their father’s wish for privacy.
It did make him wonder

Is this the plan Minerva had for him?
If it was

Then Ezio can’t decide if Minerva is kind for using Ezio as a way to give their father a bit of a happiness or cruel for planning a life for their father where their current situation is enough for their father to be happy.

Imagine the angst when his co-workers just found out that he's missing and might even piece together that he's kidnapped like that one fic
From @thedragonqueen1998
@mistjosellevandanger oooh, they would try everything to find him and since Abtergo would have taken the children it might actually make news that the Templars can't properly stomp down. And that sounds like an interesting fic, do you have a link to it?
From @mistjosefvandanger
@thedragonqueen1998 it's Holler at the Sky by Lithuvia, sorry for the long reply oof
From @thedragonqueen1998
@mistjosellevandanger oh, thank you. I gotta check it out now. ^^ And no worries, i love coming back to this post. :)
He knew something was up the moment Miles didn’t come in with his kids for his shift.
Miles’ life revolved around his kids and they were healthy little buggers who had never even coughed ever since he had met them as ugly babies wearing Miles’ clothes.
So he knew that something had happened.
“Hey, boss. Did Desmond change shift with someone?”
“He didn’t.” The boss answered, frowning at his phone.
12 calls.
0 answers.
Something was wrong.
“Hey, Katie!” He shouted.
“Yeah?” A petite 4 feet woman answered, staying by the opened door of his office.
“You’re still going out with that cop?” He grunted.
“3 weeks, going strong!”
“Oh, one more week and you’re breaking your old record!”
“I know, right?”
“I’ll pay for your shift and give a hundred to your boyfriend to check on Miles right now and make sure he and his little buggers are okay.” He bribed, cutting his two employees’ inane chatter.
She brows furrowed as she asked, “I can do that but you’re asking me to take Andy with me? Why? Is Desmond in trouble?”
“I’m not sure.” He rubbed his face before he said, “But this isn’t like him. If he was sick or something, he would have at least call or text me.”
“You’re right.” She nodded, “Okay. I’ll go call Andy now.”
They both watched as she quickly left before his other employer turned to face him as he asked, “You think something happened to Desmond?”
“I hope not but
” He frowned at his phone, remembering the young man who needed a job and a fake identity with a look on his face that was half in awe of this mediocre bar and half ready to bolt at the even slightest hint of trouble

“I just have a bad feeling.”
From @karolamurdock
Now all I can think of is Desmond and the children at the hands of Abstergo. Desmond would be forced to obey Vidic: "It's either you or them. We just need your DNA, and they already have it." Of course, it is quite possible that the Animus cannot be used on such young children. They both know this, but still, Desmond's hands are tied. Lucy, feeling tremendously guilty, would do her best to keep Altair, Ezio and Connor safe from the evil machinations of their bosses, who would only agree in exchange for Desmond's extended cooperation. Soon, he would be introduced for the first time to the memories of a very familiar man... Altair Ibn'la'ahad. The Master assassin who forged the path of brotherhood... The Great Eagle of Masyaf. A man of commitment, with a stern demeanor, ever hungry for knowledge. A man with golden eyes and subtle smiles... a man eerily similar to his own son. And so, the drama is orchestrated. For that immersion into Altair's memories will catalyze the bleeding effect that will reveal the secrets of the past that previously remained obscured to his untouched mind. And Altair, Ezio and Connor can only watch, helplessly, as the man they have come to love as their father loses himself in the ailments of their past lives.
From @thedragonqueen1998
@karolamurdock omg, yes! Everyone(except Vidic) would feel guilty about what's happening. I imagine Abstergo originaly didn't know about the children, so when they surround him after he leaves for work, they're so confused to why this man has 3 kids. Rebecca would probably love them and Shaun would make jokes on Desmonds expense. XD Lucy would probably feel too guilty to really interact with them when others can. OH! Wonder how Bill would react to being a grandfather?
Altaïr knew that humans are capable of cruelty but this

Never had he expected the Templars to go this far.
To fall to such cruelty.
He had wished to believe no one could be as cruel as Garnier de Naplouse but this?
Being made to watch his memories would have been fine but he could see it.
Their father was slowly withering away, losing grasps of reality a fraction of a second at a time.
Just an hour ago, he woke up and called AltaĂŻr by his name.
But Altaïr could see

He was looking at AltaĂŻr, the man in those memories, not his son.
AltaĂŻr was hit with a pang of pain and fear.
He was still AltaĂŻr Ibn-La'Ahad.
But he was also AltaĂŻr Miles.
He wanted to stay being AltaĂŻr Miles to their father.
AltaĂŻr Ibn-La'Ahad lived a long life full of happiness and tragedy.
AltaĂŻr Miles wanted to live his own life and create a different future for him.
A kind future for both him and his family.
But this Animus?
The Templars?
They made Altaïr remember that, no matter how much he desires to be free

As long as the Templars wish to push their views of the world into law

The path of the Assassin will always be haunting him.
But this time

He wouldn’t be alone.
This time

He won’t let the same tragedy cloud this second life of his.
From @thedragonqueen1998
Oh, i just had another thought: the kids has eagle vision, yes? Desmond never had the heart to get confirmation, but the way they would go "That man is red" and "She's safe, she's blue" when they were younger reminds him of how the assassins would describe the fabled Eagle Vision. So when they go "We don't like Lucy", he would immidiently be suspiscious. At girst he thought it was because she was one of the Templars. Then he thought it was because she was an Assassin. But when he asked his kids what they thought about Shaun and Rebecca, they respond with "They're Blue", he thinks it's because she just doesn't like kids. "How bad is Lucy?" "She wouldn't hurt us, but she's not on our side" Any and all attempts at a relationship Lucy tries is immidiently denied. Desmond is a package deal and he will never not support his children.
From @karolamurdock
@thedragonqueen1998I imagine Bill will not have much opportunity to interact with the children. Desmond will be extremely wary of the man. After all, the kids share his DNA - Desmond won't see them being used and beaten down for the sake of some "higher purpose." From the start, Desmond will draw his line. He will be civil to his father, he will consider his episodes in the Animus, but he will NOT tolerate any self-serving winks in the direction of his sons. @thedragonqueen1998 I love the idea of the strong bond that Desmond and his children will form. These children, embodiments (reencarnations?) of great figures who have loved, hated, and suffered, will remind him that nothing is really eternal. Not beliefs, not the satisfaction of revenge... not even grief. All that matters is what it is... that Altair, Ezio and Connor are his sons, and they find in him (how is that even possible?) a father figure they trust, who they look to for guidance, who they turn to every night for a hug and a kiss on the forehead: He is the one they turn to when they do a particularly impressive trick, the one they hold when the bleeding effect is too much and the past overlaps with reality... He's all they have...of course, Shawn and Rebecca provide and care for them when Desmond is in the Animus (much to the kids' utter chagrin), and Bill is not soooooo bad (when he's not talking about The Farm...or the Creed...or any of his morally "superior" motivations)
Ratonhnhaké:ton does not know why he had been reborn with the legendary Altaïr and Ezio. He does not know why they have been born to Desmond Miles.
Perhaps it was some kind of reward?
Or perhaps there was a greater meaning to their rebirth that they don’t know yet.
What Ratonhnhaké:ton does know is that he must stand alongside his brothers in this time of crisis. He had managed to warn their father about that woman who swirled of red with bits of blue here and there.
The very same hue that Haytham Kenway once had when Ratonhnhaké:ton saw him for the very last time.
AltaĂŻr knew what it meant.
A traitor.
A traitor who believed they are doing the right thing.
He had once hunted down such a hue in his past life, after all.
The Assassins who were waiting for them in some sort of warehouse did not believe their father when he tried to hint of Lucy Stillman’s true allegiance.
“Camaraderie makes us blind.” Ezio commented.
It didn’t matter according to Altaïr.
It just meant that those blue hues the two Assassins had meant they were safe but their dismissal of their father’s concern meant they could not be trusted.
Then

William Miles appeared.
Their ‘grandfather’.
They could see the way their father grew colder.
The slight trembling of his hands that he hid.
He saw the realization in AltaĂŻr and Ezio’s eyes and RatonhnhakĂ©:ton finally understood why they became Desmond Miles’ sons.
In this world

The three of them were probably the only ones who would choose to prioritize Desmond Miles above all else.
@thedragonqueen1998's reply to this post
That new tag actually is an idea/AU i've thought of lately. XD Where Desmond gives birth to Altaïr, Ezio and Ratonhnhaké:ton before being kidnapped. I've personally had him just suddenly become pregnant, no sex needed to lean more into the "Desmond is the Chosen One". XD Plus, we need more Dadmond tbh.
Virgin Birth.
Desmond had never even heard about it until he googled ‘Is it possible to get pregnant without having sex?’.
This is, according to Wikipedia, different from Immaculate Conception.
Desmond would like to reiterate that he was not the second coming of Virgin Mary.

 as far as he knew.
Not only that, he had been a virgin before he gave birth, having enough trust issues to fill a goddamn dam at the moment.
It wasn’t like he didn’t want to know how sex feels like.
It was more that he was still scared that his father or someone his father sent would come find him and take him away from this freedom.
He can’t go back.
He would never go back.
Especially now that he had three sons to think of.
They were born on December 21, 2005.
At least, that was what Desmond believed.
The morning of December 21, his stomach started hurting so badly he couldn’t leave his bed. The pain ebbed and flowed from paralyzing pain to almost unnoticeable, giving Desmond a chance to text that he wouldn’t make it to his shift because of ‘stomachaches’.
His boss assumed he had diarrhea and told him to stop eating weird cheap shit.
Desmond was pretty sure that wasn’t it but it wasn’t like he could go to a clinic and get this check out.
Clinics meant asking questions about who he was and his history.
Clinics left tracks that William Miles can find.
Desmond knew how the game is played.
And fuck that. Desmond wasn’t going to give up his goddamn freedom because of a stomachache.
It will come to pass.
Like every pain Desmond ever felt.
So he closed his eyes and took deep breaths. Inhaling deeply before slowly exhaling, timing his breathing to the ebb and flow of the pain.
By midday

Desmond fell asleep.
He didn’t know if the breathing helped him fall asleep or if he had passed out from the exhaustion and pain.
When he woke up, the sun had started to set and

The pain was gone.
His bed was a lost cause, covered in blood, but Desmond’s attention was focused on the three small forms lying on the bed between his legs.
His sons.
Three bloodied (and, Desmond was being honest, wrinkly newly born ugly) babies who were all staring at him as they make cooing sounds.
That was the day Desmond became a father.
And also the day he googled ‘Is it possible to get pregnant without having sex?’.
They were
 low maintenance boys, Desmond supposed.
They only shout when they needed to get Desmond’s attention and they weren’t fussy over their drinks. They seemed a bit disgruntled every time Desmond had to change their diapers but they didn’t cry.
They rarely cry.
They only truly cry at times when they were asleep and Desmond believed that they would have nightmares during those times.
His boss was strangely alright with Desmond suddenly appearing with three babies, only looking at him with a frown as he told him that this should be his wake up call to use condoms.
Even his coworkers believed that the one day that Desmond said he was out because of ‘stomachache’ had been code for him freaking out because an ex had left him with three sons as a big fuck you or something.
The most support Desmond got from them though was letting the babies stay in the office.
He had to buy the collapsible playpen though but it was fine.
It gave him an excuse to get more shifts just to pay for his and his sons’ living expenses.
One of his coworkers asked why he didn’t just give them up for adoption. It was clear that he wasn’t ready for it.
And Desmond couldn’t explain it.
He wanted them.
They might have been a surprise but
 they were his.
And

Whenever he felt tired or felt like everything was becoming too much
just feeling them in his arms was enough.
It was enough.
.
.
Miles’ kids were strange boys.
They didn’t make any messes and they were polite
 most of the time, anyway.
He knew it was bad to let Miles use his office to keep the kids. Hell, this bar was not a good place for kids and Miles should really just get a babysitter but he didn’t mind.
Miles was homeschooling them
 in a way.
It wasn’t his place to give parenting advice anyway so he stayed out of whatever Miles planned for his kids. As long as they don’t hinder business, they could stay.
AltaĂŻr was always on that second hand battered laptop that always made loud fan noises when it was turned on. They mostly kept it on because of it.
At first, he thought Altaïr was just playing in his laptop but
he was studying. Every tab he could see was either educational or
 well
Wikipedia pages. Even the YouTube account Desmond shared with his sons were filled with educational videos, mostly something connected to history or engineering or technology.
Desmond liked to say that AltaĂŻr was a genius and had been saving up to buy him a better laptop for the past year now.
Ezio, on the other hand, was more of a people’s person. He liked to talk to Desmond’s coworker before the start of their shift and he was a charming little bugger. Charming enough that many of Desmond’s coworkers started to give them food and juice boxes, saying they made too much or their parents or grandparents gave them too much food and there’s no more space in their fridge

He was pretty sure that was Ezio’s plan from the very beginning. Build up a network of helpful adults.
Then there was Connor.
He had a different name that Desmond and his brothers use but it was hard to pronounce so he just let everyone else call him Connor.
He followed his father or one of his brothers most of the time, quiet by their side.
Observing.
He was the one who helped out the most, always following Desmond and helping him whenever they were doing their final clean up before closing for the day.
When he was with Ezio, he was always earnest with his questions, taking everything the adults tell him seriously.
When he was with AltaĂŻr, he would lean close and read with him quietly. They would share the earbuds that they had with tape on the right wire because the casing had broken apart and watch videos quietly.
They were
 nice kids.
Desmond was a good father dealt with a bad hand.
He supposed

Buying Desmond a cheap laptop would be cheaper than raising his pay this Christmas.
Would save him more money in the long run, that’s for sure.

Yeeeesss! The angst and fluff! *screaming and frothing at the mouth*
Anyway, so i wonder how them being here would change the outcome, if they even can? Desmond would definetly be much colder towards everyone, especially after they wouldn't believe him about Lucy. And i wonder if any of the kids could help with the Eye, like there's a piece of Eden AltaĂŻr knows about thanks to his studies or Ezio wants to find a shroud.
Ooo, what if: when Juno says they need Desmond, she says one of the children could also work. Desmond of course denies immidiently and goes to place his hand to prevent any of his children from touching it instead and they throw themselves onto him to pull him away. This "group hug" was enough to not kill Desmond, but he's badly hurt. And because Bill and the others left, when Abstergo gets to the temple everyones caught?
Or the energy pushed everyone, but Desmond away, so he still ends up dead. Ezio and AltaĂŻr refuses to accept this fate. Ezio even more so. This CANNOT be the fate of Desmond, the man he is both the Prophet and son of. So they suggest using the Shroud and flee the Temple, going on the hunt for Pieces of Eden(they have 1 apple or ot could have been merged with Desmond?) to revive their father.
