i have decided that leon s kennedy deserves a lil radiation sickness. just a lil. as a treat.
why not? smack him around with an old mri machine. throw him a lil too close to tall oaks. have him discover ancient catacombs with a disease that enhances radiation or some shit idk

after all the talk about the characters and nivannedy today I just haven’t been able to stop thinking about my favorite pairing and how good they would be together 🥺💖 I just had to drive home and for the entire two hours in the car while trying to see the road in the middle of pitch black forests, I kept grinning like a fool and thinking of these two :’D so this post echoes a lot of points already mentioned but i just wanted to talk about them some more!
one reason I adore nivannedy as a pairing is that Piers and Leon have both enough similarities and enough differences that they'd complement each other so well. they’d bring out the best in each other, be able to understand each other, and I’m always here for them both getting the support they deserve after all the ways they’ve been screwed over.
so let me ramble a bit about why I think they’re a good match! (and you can blame this on @tirsynni because her meta post started it all ;D)
(this was supposed to be a quick small post but it got longer so putting it under a cut for you!)
I've talked about Leon and how despite not having lost hope, he is exhausted by everything he's been through, by the endless fight and deep-rooted corruption in who are supposedly the good guys. he's definitely struggling. and while Piers has gone through tremendous personal losses, he's not quite there yet. he hasn't been screwed over quite like Leon has, and he's had more freedom to fight for what he believes in with the BSAA than Leon with the way he's shackled to the government. (the BSAA sure isn’t perfect, but that’s a whole another can of worms)
so Piers still has a lot of the drive, the fire, the things Leon used to have so strongly (look at the passionate speech behind Kendo's in RE2Remake! forever one of my favorite Leon moments), and I believe he could revive that in Leon as well. with his mere existence, his ideals and his determination to help, he would remind Leon of what was and what is important to him! and at the same time, Leon has deep-run knowledge, he has experience and knows what battles to pick, and I feel Piers would greatly benefit from learning a thing or two (or ten, lol) from him.
they're both idealistic, they both want to save people even when it contradicts the mission at hand. Leon ignores his current goals multiple times if it means he can try to save at least someone, anyone. Piers for example tries to make Chris stop for a moment and help Sherry and Jake, when he feels it's necessary, and although he folds and does as he's told it's clear he's not happy about it. if he was the one in charge? that would've played out very differently, imo.
another similarity? they both have a strong drive to help people, but they recognize when it's too late and what needs to be done. when a person has turned and lost themselves to the infection, they're no longer there and the humane thing is to put them down. we see this multiple times. Leon does his damnest to help someone, but when they're gone, he doesn't let them suffer anymore. he rarely even hesitates, aside from the beginning of RE6 (which is absolutely heartbreaking on so many levels).
and we see the same thing with Piers for example when Marco turns into a cocoon and thus a BOW. Piers immediately goes for what he knows needs to be done, and Chris is the one who tries to stop him although they both know hope is lost. I'm not trying to say Chris's reaction is any worse! it's very very understandable, and it's very in character for him. but wherein he hesitates, Piers says "He'd do the same for us." because he knows at that point the kindest thing is to stop the suffering. and that's what Leon would do, as well, if he was there. it is ultimately what Chris recognizes as the right thing, too, but he ticks differently and I think his hesitation there speaks volumes of it. and again, neither reaction is wrong, they're just different.
and I know I've touched this in fic multiple times but Leon got infected with the plagas, Piers with the C-virus. definitely something to bond over! (because Piers obviously survives that, don't at me, he's fine, he's alive, I've elected to ignore that dumbass part of canon) it'll forever be one of my favorite things, negl.
I just. I know this is a tiny pairing in a small fandom, but I love them so much I need to let it out sometimes or I'll burst :'D
