i don’t believe Haymitch and Lenore Dove would have a toasting before the reaping; or that she might had been pregnant during his games (like i recently saw some people theorizing about); or that they even had a serious conversation about having kids at some point in their relationship. Haymitch was a child himself —barely a teenager, really—and he was clearly comfortable enough in his adolescence to dwell on a future that clearly required a certain level of maturity that i don’t believe he had on him yet.

It was his birthday. He was happy because he had real bread for the occasion and his ma had done stewed plum. He was looking forward to spend his day kissing his girl and maybe spending some time with his brother, and mother, and enjoying the rest of the day, after the unavoidable and inconvenient reaping ceremony. He wasn’t making big plans for the future, he wasn’t overthinking the meaning of it all, he wasn’t making cathartic decisions because he thought that maybe he wouldn’t be there anymore…

He was just enjoying his birthday as much as he could and trying —really hard— not to think about the Quell and the double of tributes it came with…

Haymitch wouldn’t marry Lenore before the reaping, because he was planing on seeing her when the whole thing was over —after filling the buckets for his ma and finishing his work at the woods—.He made plans for the afternoon; he promised his mother he would do his chores after the ceremony; and he had a whole schedule for the rest of his day, because he didn’t believe he would be reaped…Toasting bread with his teenage girlfriend when they clearly weren’t ready for something so big in their lives sounds too much like a symbolic decision that only a man who believe he was going to die would do, and i honestly don’t think he even considered it as a real possibility.

I like to see Haymitch as just a innocent, silly boy who rather enjoy the living moment than overthink about the future, and the though of marriage and kids weren’t something his teenage brain even considered as a possibility for someone so not mature….his Ma had him when she was a teenager herself, he wouldn’t want to follow the same path, and he was wise enough to know when it was the right time to tight-the-not with the girl he loved

I think a core internet experiences is- YES, people are allowed to not like or enjoy the thing *I* like, but they have to dislike it CORRECTLY.

If I watch a youtuber not read any dialogue and then complain about the story not making any sense I'm seething. If I see a youtuber read all the dialogue and then still be like 'this story is shit' I'm like 'lmao yeah fair.'

It's all about knowing that the person actually gave it a fair chance and aren't just going into it already disinterested

A big reason why the Minrathos vs Treviso "choice" feels so weird to me is because I sent 3 people to Minrathos and 3 people to Treviso. So really I didn't make a choice at all except to choose where Rook specifically should go. Why is Rook singled out as the reason the fight in one city went better than in the other, and not one of the other companions?

And that got me thinking.

Why are half the companions always just sitting around doing nothing anyway? (in-universe i mean. I know the reason is gameplay.)

In the Minrathos vs the Treviso choice, we have 2 teams working at the same time in different locations, so it is possible.

Admittedly, none of these kinds of game ever give a reason a team can only have 3-4 people in it, so we take this as a given. But like. In the previous Dragon Age games it didn't feel weird that only the PC can do these quests, and the other companions just tag along.

In Origins, the PC is the only Grey Warden willing to lead a team.

In DA2, they aren't even saving the world! Hawke is just doing that stuff as a hobby and asking their friends for help. And the friends don't sit around doing nothing when they aren't with Hawke, they have their own lives!

In Inquisition, the Inquisitor is the only one who can seal the breaches, and they even put in a gameplay mechanic where certain tasks are delegated via the War Table. (Though, as I did complain about at the time, some more tasks could have been delegated. Looking at you, collect 10 elfroot)

But in DAtV? Why the hell aren't we dividing up all that work, all those quests? The companions in the Lighthouse have fuckall to do except cook and read! They could be out there!

Now, I'm not saying they SHOULD be out there, that would be ridiculous, gameplay-wise. But uhhh I WOULD appreciate it if the writing gave me a reason why they aren't. What makes Rook so special anyway??

I love jily but jily fandom is like a bunch of mean girls running the tags. God forbid you post something or a hc they don’t agree with and they come at you like vultures. As much as they say newbies are welcome, they really aren’t.

The Jily fandom loves new people and is very welcoming, but there are some issues that a lot of us Jily shippers get steamed over and we've been very annoyed about the infiltration of our tag in the last few years.

Some people believe that if they tag 25 things on each post they make, then their post will be seen by more people and thereby enjoyed by more people, because that's how it works on other platforms.

But tumblr is different.

You should only tag your post with appropriate tags, or you will be blocked or confronted. It's important that you understand that some of the content that you like, might be upsetting for other people. Especially in this fandom, where the author is a massive terf and constantly spewing evil bullshit on twitter.

Example 1 James and Lily probably had plans to do a lot of traveling after the war. Lily would cut pictures out of muggle magazines and pin them up on the fridge. #jily #myhc #james potter #lily evans

In example 1, I only tagged what was relevant to the post. I didn't tag wolfstar, because I didn't mention wolfstar. I didn't tag remus, because I didn't mention remus.

Example 2 Regulus Black realized that Voldemort was trying to become immortal by hiding pieces of his soul inside of objects and decided that he'd die to stop him. I wish that he would have told Sirius, so that they would have had the chance to work together. Everything might have been different. #regulus black #sirius black #au of my dreams

In example 2, I didn't mention anything about James or Lily so I didn't tag either one of them, or jily. Or wolfstar or jegulus or dorelene or anything else. I also chose not to tag it as voldemort, because even though I mentioned him, the post isn't about him, it's about how another character is reacting to figuring out his plan and a wish that he would have shared that information with his brother.

Basically, when you go to tag your post, you should think about what your post is actually about and pretend like you're shelving a book in the library. You can only put it on one shelf, so be as specific as you can, so that people will find your post when looking in that section of the library. If I find a world war two book in the gardening section of the library, I'm going to be really confused and remove it, go put it over on the cart to be reshelved.

On tumblr, that translates to me blocking people left and right, not because I don't like them, or because I don't want to be welcoming, but because I'm on this website for my own enjoyment, and because people don't normally come into my inbox and offer me up the opportunity to educate people on how this stupid wonderful website works.

Another use for tags, and you'll see an example below this post in the tags, is offering further commentary on the post. A lot of people will put little diary entries in their tags on a post, or write a little aside.

It annoys me when I see someone comment on a post that they "only ship canon ships" and bring up alphyne and asgoriel.. I have to stop myself from getting in pointless arguments about how asgoriel is not canon. Not in the current timeline of undertale and certainly not in deltarune. DOA ass ship. You don't even learn they were together until it's obvious toriel divorced him!!!! Nobody has played a version of the game where they are currently married!!!! You would think with the way people talk about asgoriel that she forgave him and they got back together!! But! no!! Their ship sailed and sunk before the title even appears!!!! and unlike alphyne their isint any ending where they do!!!! Asgoriel is about as canon as soriel and papyton are!!!!! I love how some of the Deadfire companions don't like each other. I love how things can get so tense between Xoti and Pallegina or Maia and Tekēhu that they boil over into a big fight with harsh words and hurt feelings. I love how Aloth doesn't get into a fight with Tekēhu but absolutely will bitch about him in an aside to the Watcher. I love how the endgame has some companions drawing lines in the sand and, depending on your choices, basically tears your party apart. I'm so invested in the Watcher's inner-party conflict, and the fact these arguments are triggered automatically after banter makes it feel like you're watching their nerves fray in real time. It's sooooo spicy, i love it so much

Wow I just really loved almost all of season 3 of Yellowjackets. Imo it was almost as good as season 1, and definitely a lot better than season 2. Just loved it, especially the finale which was basically perfect to me. But damn people sure love to complain lol
