Just gonna say this now, if all you talk about is Palestine/Gaza and have no humanity for Jewish people I don’t want you anywhere near me.

hey some of the slogans on the bug art you reblogged from pillarsalt are pretty radfem/terfy. on their blog as far as i can tell they tend to at least reblog if not post their own radfem/terf stuff. if it wasn’t intentional on your part i figured i’d let you know or at least ask if it was intentional
I thought about not responding to this for a bit, but then immediately thought, no, this needs to be addressed, because this framing is inherently misleading.
In the post of @pillarsalt ‘s art I reblogged, which messages were inherently anti-trans people? Was it the ones asking women to examine their relationships with cosmetics and femininity? Or the one celebrating same sex attracted people, like myself? Or maybe the ones encouraging women to listen to themselves, and for others to listen to them as well?
None of these messages are anti-trans people, they are pro-women. I personally don’t find them to be quite radical either - I’ve always been a little saddened by the term “radical feminism”, because a lot of the movement’s most socially contentious points seem like ground-level beginner feminism to me.
So to confirm what you’ve already realized, yes, it was intentional. Because I am always for the empowerment and freedom of women, even at the perceived “expense” of men, or whatever stereotypes and falsehoods you’ve been fed about radical feminists. And, because it bears repeating - just because I am pro-women does not mean I am anti-trans people.

So it seems like I just?? Don’t have a messages section anymore?? I don’t know how this happened and I honestly have no idea what to do about it. I can’t send anyone messages and I can’t receive messages that aren’t asks. I’m gonna dig around in my account settings for a bit to see if I can find anything there

I’m honestly so tired of people defending T*ylor Sw*ft and calling her shit like “the best LGBT ally we have”.
First of all, that is just not true at all - not only do we have far better allies in the music industry (P!nk, Hozier, Imagine Dragons, etc), but we also have actual members of our community who are far better allies and musicians overall (Lady Gaga, Frank Ocean, Sia, Kesha, Mary Lambert, Janelle Monae, Against Me!, literally just google “LGBT musicians”).
Swift may have made an attempt at allyship with her new song, but it is, as many people have rightfully pointed out, a controversial, and in my opinion, very sloppy attempt. The song is badly written and at times non-sensical; I can’t even figure out what’s supposed to be going on in the first verse, and in the bridge she doesn’t even seem to be focused on the LGBT community. The music video is filled with famous LGBT people, but they feel like cameos - they’re never the main focus, despite both the song and the music video supposedly being about LGBT rights and empowerment.
The whole song is a badly-written mess, but beyond that is something that a lot of her fans have seemed to have conveniently forgotten about, and that I as a Jewish lesbian cannot and refuse to forget - that she took a picture with someone with a giant swastika on his shirt and “didn’t notice” according to her representative. And the fact that her music has a substantial right-wing and neo-nazi following combined with her silence on the topic is enough to make me want to stay as far away from her music as I can.
At a certain point, I don’t care how much of an “ally” Swift thinks, says, or pretends to be to LGBT people, or how much other people try and tell me she is. The existence of that photo and her continued silence on it cause all her cries of “allyship” to ring hollow in my ears. There are so many better allies and singers overall who we as a community should rally behind and support. Swift can and should do better, but so should we.
#I know y'all on here love to forget about Jews so I'm making sure this shit isn't forgotten#also I know this is a personal opinion but her music is just...shit#swastika mention#neo-nazi mention#realisticrambles

This is incredible to read. I wish I could meet this doctor in person to thank him.
This was an interesting read. Surprisingly nonpreachy given the subject; and well worth the time.

5. What three things/people do you think of most each day?
Honestly, my three best friends. They’re all wonderful and I love them so much.
7. What is your opinion on [insert person/thing here]?
Uhh I didn’t get a topic so I’m just gonna say that traditional 2D animation is an extremely undervalued and underutilized art medium and it makes me so sad because it can be used create some of the most stunning visuals and expressions and just u g h the craftsmanship!!!! Anyway if any of you know any traditional artists and/or animators please give them love because they work so hard and they deserve recognition.
22. Pet peeves?
When people are mean to others for no reason it pisses me off so much. There’s a definite line between sarcasm and cruelty and tbh you shouldn’t cross it.
Also when people drive at or below the speed limit in the fast lane. What are you doing there. Get out of my way.

From the cute ask: calm angel ✨✨
My friend, hello!! It’s been so long, I’m so sorry I haven’t talked to you in a while. Life has been…extremely busy.
Calm: Favorite scent?
This is hard, in part because I actually don’t think I have a very good sense of smell. But I love the smell of a bakery in the morning, when all the muffins, cookies, pastries, and what have you are being baked off. Flowers and fresh fruit all smell lovely, especially peaches. That first deep breath of fresh air after it’s rained is near-religious tbh, especially if it hasn’t rained in a while. And my roommate uses this leave-in condition that smells great, neither of us know what makes it smell the way it does but I love it all the same.
Angel: Do you have nickname?
Well, technically, Maddie is short for Madeleine, so I guess that counts? Some of my friends also call me Mads every now and then. And then this one person in particular will sometimes call me MJ and it’s…really nice tbh.
#asks#redoctopusbabe#thank you so much friend!!!#I've missed talking with you a lot tbh#when I get back home and don't have to worry about school and applications I'll be way more talkative lol#i hope you're doing okay#realisticrambles

I feel like I have to talk this way at work because everyone else talks this way. As much as I enjoy working in a female-dominant workplace, it is full of reactionary shit like the original statement above. I want to disagree, because I do - I hate rhetoric like that because of how sexist and patronizing it is. But if I disagree or state any opinion along those lines, I know I’ll be labeled as a “feminist killjoy” and people will be less likely to like and work with me. It’s incredibly frustrating that I can’t have any kind of serious dialogue about even the most basic elements of real feminism, because everything’s been turned into ridiculous catchy slogans that make people sound like they’re in a commercial advertising the patriarchy.
she's 100% correct btw and a lot of you are one carefully-worded pitch away from chucking away every ounce of autonomy your forebears threw themselves under cars and racehorses to grant you
#idk just needed to vent#I’m not sure if I kept the connection to OP’s post entirely but eh#needed to get it off my chest#realisticrambles

Y’all okay like I’m literally so fucking happy over Into the Spider Verse winning the Oscar, like
1. My fucking incredible amazing wonderful artistic uncle was the co producer so like it’s an immediate source of family pride, also I love him
2. The movie was so groundbreaking and spectacular and funny as shit, it was so refreshing to see a black Hispanic bilingual kid as a lead and to see Peter B. Parker properly portrayed as a Jew (like me!!!!!) and just the wonderful friendship and comraderie of all the Spiders was so wonderful!!!! They were saying I love you all the time to each other and it made me cry like twice!!!!! Also none of the protagonists were straight or cis, spidey sense is just code for gaydar, and tbh I got big trans lesbian Jewish vibes from Doc Ock too so I was living (I unfortunately can’t prove these last bits as canon canon but like. They are.)
3. The movie was just. Fucking gorgeous. The animation. The flow. The colors. The atmosphere. The music. The different styles for the different spiders!!!! It was absolutely beautiful to watch and become completely immersed and wholeheartedly invested in, it honestly takes a really good movie to bring me to tears and this one did it twice??? Iconic.
If you still haven’t seen Into the Spider Verse at this point, then like, what the fuck are you doing???? Go watch it!!!!! It’s incredible.
On another note, even though I stopped watching the Oscars years ago because, well, they’re extremely frustrating, to put it mildly, I’m low key sad that I didn’t get to see the team getting to accept the award live.
#realisticrambles#into the spider verse#I watched their speech on YouTube though and it was so good!!!#my uncle wasnt up there unfortunately but im still so proud of him!!!!!

To the anon who sent this in, tumblr isn’t letting me answer this normally, so this is how we’re doing things now.
Loveseat: Describe your ideal house.
If it weren’t for @sixteen-stars I wouldn’t be able to answer this question.
It’s a small cottage-like house in a vibrant green meadow, surrounded by forest and mountains, with enough space and elevation for me to always see the sky. There’s a chimney and a large hearth in the living room with plenty of firewood. The couches are plush and lined with pillows, and there’s a rocking chair in the corner. The walls are lined with bookshelves and art, and the windows have red-and-white picnic blanket-style drapes. I have a full kitchen, an oven, and a fridge that always has enough food. I keep a garden and chickens, and I have a couple cats as well. There’s a porch that I sit on to watch the sun rise and set, and I have mezuzahs on every door. It’s quiet, it’s simple, it’s mine, and for the first time, it’s home.
Record player: Love songs or breakup songs?
Depends on my mood and what’s happening in my life. I think I like the kind of songs that are more focused on happiness in general more, because sometimes love feels too much to hope for.
