Recursive Maintenance (Boot.hill x Reader)
hi this is a fic idea i've had for a while that i'm obsessed with. contains the following: gt vore, male pred, soft vore, safe vore, object vore, reader insert w gender neutral terms
Ever since you went independent and started your own shop as a mechanic, you've seen all kinds of colorful characters with ships and vehicles that told a story. You've even serviced some Intellitrons and cyborgs...but one client in particular stuck out to you with how frequently he visited. For the same issue, every time... Here he sat right in front of you, wearing an innocent-looking smile as if this hasn't happened countless times before.
"So, doc..." He always called you that, much to your chagrin. "I've been feelin’ real out of sorts lately. I can hear somethin’ rattling around in here…” He gestures to his metallic stomach, lightly rapping his knuckles against it. “But it won't come up no matter what I do! Think you can be a peach and help a Ranger out?”
You knew full well what he meant by “something”. He couldn't help but chuckle at your expression; he had the strangest habit of…swallowing bullets. Whole. You scowled and crossed your arms at him- when was he going to stop doing this and getting bullets stuck in his gut! You asked him, and he got deathly serious for a moment.
“No forkin’ way! I never let myself go without some extra ammo! And even if those IPC clock-punchers shake me down for everything I’ve got…there’s just one place they’ll never think t’look!” He grinned, showing you his sharp sharklike teeth. “But they won’t do me any good in a fight if they’re stuck in there, right doc? Can you give me a hand?”
You sigh. You’ve been through this enough times to know exactly what was wrong, and exactly how you were supposed to do it. No need for scans- you knew the bullets were in his stomach, and you knew his stomach wasn’t able to be opened. (Not that you really wanted to do that, you were a mechanic not a surgeon!)
This meant an unorthodox and strange approach on your part: going inside of him and dislodging the bullets yourself. You weren’t worried about being hurt, as a cyborg he seemed to be able to control his rate of digestion so the bullets would be undamaged…though his fangs always gave you pause. He always seemed to be very careful with you when you shrunk yourself for it, at least.
Speaking of that, it was about time for you to get to work…which meant getting the shrink gun out. You used this when you wanted a more close view of some delicate machine’s insides…but now you were using it for a rough and tumble man’s insides. All the while the ranger had a pleased smile on his face, which only grew wider as your body shrunk down. He reached over and plucked you off the table, looking you over with amusement.
“I've gotta say…I'll never get over how neat that little gun of yours is. You oughta let me take it for a spin sometime, doc…”
As he spoke, he was already lifting you over his face. His sharp teeth were on full display, glinting in the light as he grinned up at you. “Be sure t’ be gentle with me~ I know I will with you.”
Opening his mouth, he lowered you inside without another word. His tongue gently tasted you to cover you in saliva for your impending trip downwards, but you swore you heard a hum that wasn't a part of his inner workings. With a swallow and a gentle tug at your body, you were pulled down his throat. Here you were surrounded by more familiar sounds- the whirrs and humming of machinery, and the clicking sounds of some of his internal parts around you. You found the experience comforting; but you’d never admit it to someone like him. You can already imagine the smug look on his face…
Splashing down in the ranger’s stomach, you were deposited in a very shallow pool of fluid. The surrounding chamber grumbled and rippled around you as if it was greeting you, and you briefly wondered why it still acted like an organic stomach. Maybe it was just to bother you specifically as the walls came in closer in an effort to gently press against you…but you simply shoved back against them, turning on your flashlight to search for the swallowed bullets.
They stood out easily against his black synthetic flesh, covered in fluid and shining in the light. They were undamaged, but…they weren’t stuck anywhere at all! Did he seriously just lie to you so he could eat you?! Your world suddenly shifted, and the bullets clicked against each other as you nearly lost your balance. Outside, the outlaw had leaned back and kicked his boots up on the table he was sitting in front of. Crossing his arms behind his head, he licked the remnants of your taste from his lips and got comfortable for a short rest.
That confirmed your suspicions, at least. He was getting an earful from you whenever you got out of here- you weren’t just some snack he could show up and munch on whenever he wanted! You were at his whims until he released you, though…and the white noise and gentle whirring of his inner workings did well to soothe your brief flare of anger.
#v0re#soft vore#safe vore#nonsexual vore#18+ nsx vore#gt vore#object vore#nomkai star rail#reader insert#insane about that ranger yeeeeeHAW#reader is fine just grumpy#boot.hill shows his fondness for people by eating them i know this in my heart#dont expect to see object vore outta me btw im not comfy with it#this case is different because i know theyll be dislodged and brought up safely w no harm to him

pretty please 16, 22, and 29 for ginny?
I like your style, anon. Two lighthearted asks and one gut-puncher. We'll go in that order, just to be kind.
(Random Character Asks here).
22. Ginny's best physical feature:
Interviewers at Quidditch Weekly and Witch Weekly always and without fail mention Ginny's long, fiery locks. They rave about her warm and winning smile, too, conveniently leaving out the bit when she dropped the facade at the first mention of her personal life.
If you ask a certain Potter, though, you might get a different answer... 🍑 #bodybyquidditch
29. Ginny's eating habits:
Ginny will never turn down a hearty meal, but she's a grazer. She isn't much of a cook, so in those first few years away from Hogwarts and the Burrow she's mostly snacking instead. Only when the work schedules even out, and Harry becomes more comfortable in the kitchen, do they establish regular meal times and she serves as his willing sous chef (read: taste-tester).
She's an adventurous eater, prefers salty to sweet, and loves anything with a good strong flavor: olives, pickles, cheese, curry fries... And, ever the Weasley, she gets this look her friends and Harry recognize any time she's excited about heavy, sloppy food wrapped in greasy paper... usually at the end of a night at the pubs.
16. Ginny's deepest darkest secret she won't admit, even to herself:
You asked for it, anon...
Ginny misses Tom. She'd never admit it to herself, let alone anyone else. Never again will she have a friendship so flawless, one in which she's so wholly and completely understood. Part of her knows that the perfection is what made it so sinister, that real relationships are found through overcoming conflict and differences. But none of that changes the fact that someone was there for her at a time of burgeoning adolescence and deepest insecurity, and she'll never be able to rewrite those experiences.

I could do some analysis on Valkyrie and Mevolent’s dynamic Or what about Valkyrie and Nefarian’s friendship? I can think of stuff to talk about there
I would laugh manically about either of these things. Your SP posting is amazing, I really enjoy it even as a casual reader of the series!
Valkyrie’s dynamics with random people who’ve tried to kill her are all absolutely gold lmao
Starting out with Valkyrie and Nefarian, their friendship is the most unlikely thing ever. They met when Val was seventeen, didn’t see each other again until Val was twenty-five, and then had to spend a number of months on a team together. And during that time, they came to a sort of understanding of each other through Nefarian trying to piss her off in the most platonically flirtatious way possible and Valkyrie not taking ANY of his bullshit.
And then when Valkyrie goes missing, Skulduggery becomes a lot more unhinged and ends up cutting up Nef’s hand. And when Valkyrie makes it back, she manages to not only kill Lord Vile but also successfully regenerate Nefarian’s hand, which pulls him closer to her since she’s capable of shielding him from people like Skulduggery. And her surprising amount of patience for him that she shows in SoW and UtE probably doesn’t help either.
I really want his arc to be learning to care about other people/learning to be a semi-functional human being, because I think it would be sweet to watch. I also think Landy should give him a boyfriend for the funnies, because he already hates the idea of caring about people in a platonic sense so much that him realizing “oh shit I like this person romantically” he’d break down then and there. Also you cannot convince me that Valkyrie wouldn’t offer to wingman him.
As for Mevolent and Valkyrie, their dynamic is a bit odd but it’s so interesting to see them together. Mevolent is a weirdly polite, eight-feet-tall fascist while Valkyrie is a much more emotionally straightforward freedom fighter. But there’s a constant sense in SoW that they hate each other, yes, but also have a profound respect for each other that makes their interactions so fun. They aren’t degrading each other, they’re kind of just…talking. While trying to kill each other.
And Mevolent actually trying to comfort Valkyrie right before he was going to kill her was honestly great?? That whole interaction was gold from start to finish, but “it’s ok to lose” was such a fascinating line, especially coming from an older sorcerer who managed to conquer the world to a younger sorcerer who earned his respect and who has the potential to one day be as great as him. And Valkyrie’s “I think we could have been friends in another life” seemed actually legitimate. Yes, she was trying to stab him with a god-killer, but there still is a general vibe that she meant it, and that Mevolent actually agrees with her. And then he helps her get to her feet to he can kill her with dignity, and she just accepts her fate without showing any real resentment towards him.
I am FULLY convinced that Mevolent sees a younger version of himself in a lot, because I honestly don’t think he was always evil. I think that came around simply as a result of him living so long and being so successful, especially in defeating The Unnamed. And Valkyrie is really similar to that, and I think that’s a big part of why he respects her so much (and why he registers her as such a threat). I REALLY hope that Mevolent and Valkyrie get to have an actual conversation in phase 3, because Landy has the opportunity to pull some emotional gut-punchers with them, and also we don’t get to see them interact a lot and that is a travesty.
#i am once again skulduggeryposting#me? normal? never#you can write so much potential angst with giving Nefarian a character arc and letting Mev and Val interact#skulduggery pleasant

Its criminal how underrated you are. I read hearts blood in ink and just wow. I felt like i know them in person. You made them so real and vivid like real life. That last paragraph was a gut puncher for sure. Howhe shared with the reader and doesnt with the second woman. I wish you write more. No pressure btw i am just blown away with your writing
All these sweet words for me?
Thank you dearly, this is very heartening. I think heart’s blood in ink is my favourite. They felt natural to write, and I found it not possible to end it with a happy note, they still must be dependent even after her death. That’s how he knows it’s love; even the absence of her is rosy, even when it’s unobtainable this time.
I wish I write more too, I don’t want to believe that’s it’s been that long since I posted something of my own. I can’t promise you when, but I have to say I try to make time to write. 🤍

another more positive update though: The guy that was talking to me that is actually attractive, and I had a conversation because I asked him why he started talking to me to make sure that I didn’t miss read the situation, and he said he only was trying to make friends, which he was definitely interested at first and now he’s not, but I’m okay with this because at least he communicated with me when I asked and didn’t make me look crazy. I think we might still go to the zoo and hang out? I have no idea but this is actually nice. I don’t feel like there’s something wrong with me because of this man like the other one but I feel so much relief now that I know that he was lying to me the entire time because it actually severely crushed my self-confidence and my mental stability because I actually felt really depressed because I thought that we were flirting, but he says that we weren’t. I think it’s just because he decided to go with the other girl so he made shit up. but I hope she finds out about how he said he “always attracts crazy women“ because she’s going to end up being one of them according to him if they ever break up. I also realize that I have not gotten over the crush on the daniel bruhl look alike. he starting to not look like daniel but he’s still cute and cosplays buggy the clown so you know
EVERYONE put the knives and tomatoes down I think we are going to be alright 👍🏽 gosh, wrapping you in my arms that really sucks that you had went through that with somebody who is absolutely not worth it :( yeah, that part was the real gut puncher like you are SO relationship worthy and deserve to be loved and be swooned over. yikesss if anyone says their ex is “crazy” then you KNOW that person is shitty as helll like how dare you say that 😭 on WHAT grounds bro…onggg anybody remember the daniel bruhl lookalike sage now THAT was an era I will never chrewly get over. ….but does he look good as buggy

The part where Mario hides in the pizza place was the one moment that felt like a real gut-puncher
My god, I felt so bad for him as he was sitting there in pain after being tossed and thrown around by Bowser, listening to the koopa belittle him and looking so upset was just....ouch.
Okay but seriously, the man threw him against cars and into a glass window pane in the restaurant, I'm surprised he wasn't knocked out in that instance...

Ok if the If We Could Turn Back Time tweets translates to a character death (which to me is a stretch - i just think it's vico and samba having fun), then I'm gonna throw my hat to the ring and say its Buttons. And it's something I already theorized a while ago.
Cause like, the idea of a main side character actually dying wouldn't be out of left field; the show has stated and shown that piracy is a dangerous world, and nobody has plot armor (stede in ep 3 and again in ep 9). Lucius? Sadly could be a fake out to prepare ourselves for the real deal
As for Buttons? Well if you're going to kill off one of the main cast of a show, then you want it to be something that feels cathartic and heroically earned. The crew are friends and are loyal to Stede, but it's mostly to a point - Buttons has been the best crewmate, and even though he will try to eat one of you, he is a person that knows the crew got his back (rip Karl) and will fight to the end
So I'm suspecting it'll be a real gut puncher like the main baddie closing, and Buttons sacrifices himself by either taking a metaphorical bullet or refusing to go against his Captain. Cause he has always been loyal to his Captain
#ofmd#our flag means death#ofmd meta#ofmd bts#crew of the revenge#nathaniel buttons#im just thinking theyre gonna do something#real angsty like this#let.me.dream.with.ofmd

Pulp Storytime #47: Death in Jersey!
Horror is in the air. Worse is in the ground. There’s a huge bounty for anyone who can find photographic proof of the supernatural. Tacíto Uriel Velasco, attorney at law/spirit puncher, gambler Penny An’Te, and mystic orphan Devika Velyapur answered the call in the spookiest of all places: suburban New Jersey. I think this was one of the best three-person groups in my history of RPGs. Not only did everyone have an extremely varied skill set (interrogation, investigation, and mystic observation were split among the trio), our approaches were different. Devi and Penny jockeyed for control. Tacito would play tiebreaker or suggest a more reasonable/legal course of action. Penny was the only one who could accurately assess people’s motives: Tacito was uniquely immune to magical peril. But Devi was small enough to get into cramped spaces (at one point she was able to sneak down a dumbwaiter into an otherwise inaccessible basement). Plus, she was the only one who could drive worth a damn. Considering her ability to detect magic, Devi thought this was gonna be an easy case. They’d finish it in an afternoon and she could head into the city and finish her Cleopatra costume with the real gold accents. Unfortunately, the case ended up somewhat complicated. First, there were multiple historic tragedies in town. Initial research unveiled both a grisly quadruple murder and an abandoned house with a decades-long history of ‘dysentery’ victims. Groundwater investigation made us believe these were poisonings. Second, local colleges sent students after the bounty. At the quadruple murder house (newly renovated), there were a few points of interest: a spooky spirit in the basement, an unbreakable lock leading to the basement, and most importantly, two golden retrievers, Goldie and Penelope. "Penny, the dog has your name!" yelled Devika. Throughout the rest of the adventure, she would refer to the gambler as "Penny the human". The adventure continued, with numerous twists and turns (like a friendly and photographable Jersey Devil). Then, near the pine barrens, we found the alleged serial killer’s pumpkin patch. The gambler and lawyer almost fell prey to magical mental assault, until we found the boss pumpkin and set him up for Tacito. He hit a bruja-powered Shoryuken, his fist cooking the pumpkin guts before they hit the ground. One downside of adventuring with your lawyer is that you can’t use arson to solve your problems. Eventually, the group uncovered the true history of the town (rejected loner framed for murder, comes back as an evil spirit, and commits revenge killings), and learned that photographs of a Jersey devil aren’t proof of paranormal activities. Oh well, there was still time to get over to Mexico for Day of the Dead!

Watched the whole fight this morning after missing the first 7-8 rounds live. Great fight front to back. Scored it for Usyk 115-112.
Seemed pretty clear what the gameplan for both was. Fury wanted to use his size and range to keep Usyk at range and punish him for stepping in too close. Usyk wanted to pressure. Force Fury to the ropes, keeping the distance close and outworking him with body punches and overhands. And both found success. Fury was really reliant on the jab early on, but wasn't really throwing anything off of it. Used it to occupy space but Usyk was willing to eat those off the guard if it meant he could force Fury back and close range. Around the 3rd/4th round, Fury started adding that sweeping right hand into the mix. It's that tall man punch that craftier punchers like to throw. They drop the hand to the gut and then fire off either a sweeping punch across the guard or underneath the forearm for a nice uppercut to the body. Fury really took over the middle rounds (3is-7ish) by showing the jab as Usyk came forward and then stopping him with the right hand. He landed some really good bodyshots and cracked Usyk a few times really nicely. Landed a really sick uppercut that I think Usyk thought was going to the body. The lateral movement from Usyk was really not there for those rounds as he was stuck right at the edge of range, getting tagged when he tried closing the pocket behind the high guard.
Usyk eventually adjusted though. He started stepping to his right (Fury's left) as he came forward and throwing same time overhand lefts. It took some of the sting off Fury's punches and worked at securing the outside for those overhands which started landing more and more at the end of the 7th. Usyk was back in the fight by the 8th. Usyk was also giving Fury space, stepping backwards a bit and baiting Fury to chase. Fury, like a lot of tall fighters, has a habit of standing straight up when he initiates combos. He threw a cheeky lead uppercut-right straight combo in the 9th as he was stepping forward without moving his head. Usyk countered with a right hook-left overhand that straight rocked Fury as he was caught with his chin in the air. Goes to the ropes where Usyk lands a series of left hands around the guard of Fury. Fury falls forward, reaching for the head to try and stall out, but Usyk throws him off and Fury stumbles across the ring to the ropes again. He's stumbling from post to post as Usyk follows with a series of 3-2s. Fury falls but catches himself in the corner and as Usyk goes for the kill shot the ref stops the fight to give Fury the 8 count.
So I'm of two minds about the knockdown call: 1) legally speaking, that was the correct call. Fury would have been down had he not been caught by the corner post. 2) Fury had literally caught himself on the post 5-10 seconds earlier. The ref stepping in when he did, as Fury was getting more and more hurt, saved him from what looked like a KO loss. Or at least some heavier damage. I don't like the call, though it is justifiable.
Rounds 10-12 showed some admirable tenacity from Fury. Despite being almost out in the 9th, he rallies in round 10. Upon 1st watch, I gave the 10th to Fury. Watching it again today, I had it comfortable for Usyk as were rounds 11 and 12.
A fantastic and dramatic fight, definitely worthy of being in the pantheon of the undisputed heavyweight title fights that came before it. I'm real interested to see what adjustments these two make in the rematch this fall (it looks like anyway). Fury had a lot of success he could build off of. Saw a lot of people saying they were disappointed he chose to box instead of doing what he did to Wilder in their two rematches, but seeing as how he just walked onto a huge counter from Usyk, I can see why that might now have been game plan 1. Usyk too has a lot of things he could build off of. He was incredibly accurate in this fight. Despite throwing less strikes than Fury, he landed significantly more punches and at a way high clip (though I think a lot of Fury feints accounted for the disparity). If he can come up with a way to neutralize the Fury right hand out the gate or at least scare Fury off throwing it earlier in the fight, that could be huge for him.
Oleksandr Usyk takes split decision over Tyson Fury to become the undisputed heavyweight champion!
You are looking at an all time great!
Oleksandr Usyk, lifted by a huge knockdown in the 9th round, earns a huge win over Tyson Fury!

@mr-kennedys-elf ADDING @hamartia-grander AND @leon-on-the-froggy-chair ‘S TAGS TO THIS CUZ AAAAAAAAHHAAHHAAHHSHDHDDHNSJSJS YOU GUYS ARE ALL SO MASSIVE BRAINED WND SMART AND IM SO JEALOUS OF YOUR MASSIVE BRAUNS BECAUDE YES!! Y E S !!!!!!
I think we underestimate as humans how fucking POWERFUL guilt as a feeling is and how powerful anxiety of failure is!!!!!!!!! Cuz like, put it into perspective right- Luis grew up in the middle of nowhere and had his entire life burn down all around him. He had NADA NOTHIN entering the real world with likely a very sheltered and religious worldview so like. You can goddamn IMAGINE how EXCITED and THRILLED he must’ve been to get offered a position at Umbrella- he can help people!!! He can make up for not being there for his Grandfather!!!!!! He can make cures for the things that killed him!!!!!!!!!
And then BOOM. THAT TOO COMES CRUMBLIMG DOWN BEFORE HIM. And when he goes home???? Looking for salvation?????? Yeah nah his CHILDHOOD HOME IS OVERRUN BY A MIND CONTROLLING VIRUS WHOOPSIE. EVERYONE around him has only ever viewed him as an inherently evil person because of the actions of others around him he can’t control- what’s the point in trying if the world is only ever gonna see you as an umbrella scientist that helped create THE nemesis???? What’s the use in trying if you can’t even save the people around you that raised you????? But he STILL DOES TRY. HE NEVER GIVES UP THAT HOPE.
And when Ada and Leon come along- they’re like,,, the spitting images of people he wants to be!!!!! Inherently good people with good hearts tly good person who can do no wrong!!!!!!!!! FINALLY, for the first time in YEARS of living in isolation with a virus of his own creation and only his own thoughts to keep him company- he’s talking to REAL PEOPLE who ACTUALLY SEE PAST HIS FLAWS. Who see past his mistakes and see him for what he is; an inherently GOOD PERSON who is capable of change.
Of COURSE he’s gonna be subconsciously looking for validation that, yes, he’s doing the right thing- of course he’s going to be putting up his best and opening his heart in the most vulnerable ways possible. Because that’s what it means to open up to somebody
Hell he even goddamn RAN INTO A BURNING BUILDING TO GET THE MEDICINE AND WHEN HE THOUGJT IT WAS ALL BURNT TO NOTHING HE JUST COLLAPSES ON THE FLOOR LIKE AGABWHWNDYDNSUENEUDNDUSJ HEAD IN HANDS ARE YOU K I D D I N T ME
One day I wanna do a SUPER PROPER and THOROUGH reading of his last line ‘what do you think, Leon, people can change, right?’ Bevause its. SUCH a gut puncher and so full of *waves hands Aggressively* but it’s literally the calalist for everything you three have said- he wants that chanve to finally right his wrongs. He’ll fight monks barehanded he’ll fight giants he’ll run into burning buildings for that chance for that SLIVER OF HOPE. Bevaude like Dante has said before, hope isn’t a one-way path- it’s bloody and bruised and it’s raw and real and it can manifest in that long, desperate ache for somebody to finally see you as a good person after likely spending years by yourself with your own thoughts surrounded by your own horrific creations.
Anyways you guys are so smart HSNDHENDUDNDJ
„You should be telling me what a good job I did.“
„See, I have a plan.“
„Cleverly hidden, just before they grabbed me.“
(about the amber)
*sheepish smile* *little cocking of the head*
„It slows the infection. And I know it works...I used it...on myself.“ (about the suppressant)
*little cocking of the head* (again)
He's longing, aching so hard for some sort of approval, just a little bit of praise from anyone for his gooddoings. Just one positive encounter with a human being for once after a long time. At least that's what I read into that...
(I am pretty sure there are even more examples)

twenty five twenty one: my favourite lines from ep.13
while we leave baekdo to make out in the snow, i’m coming to you with an attempt to analyze all the lines that made me fangirl in this episode. is my brain as melted as the snowflakes between hee do and yi jin’s lips? absolutely; so this post should be extremely fun.
“is this kind of love unacceptable?”: right from the start, hee do delivers this gut-puncher with her signature honestly and emotional intelligence. i love how this line continues the earlier discussion of what baekdo’s relationship means to both of them, and encapsulates hee do’s current feeling of having done something to overstep, of being too much or not enough.
min chae’s physical presence in the past narrative is breathtaking enough to deserve a place in this post about words. the level of theatrical staging, dramatic irony of the future towards the past, brain-tingling uncanniness, and simple comedy raised the bar for art in any form.
“kiss”: this tiny word-playing scene does a brilliant job of showing hee do’s state of mind, and parallels yi jin’s visually shown reliving of the kiss. while the translations of their feelings are seemingly opposite (words vs image; external expression vs internal disguise), they are of one mind throughout the episode.
“this is my love”: weaving this line as a narrative thread throughout the episode, the show lets hee do process all her complex feelings and still choose to fight for the relationship. while yi jin buries his feelings with the notion that they would lead to disaster, hee do’s open expression of her suffering is her signal that disaster is already happening, and yi jin is the only one who can stop it.
“damn you, alcohol!”: it’s only right that yi jin’s drunken confession reaches jiwoong first, allowing the narrative to bring him to the same level of suffering that he’s causing hee do. his level of dramatics during the drunken confession, down to his phrasing (“and yet, i waver” okay sir may i direct you to a jane austen adaptation casting), is a perfect expression of his character. as we’ve seen from episode four, alcohol makes yi jin honest, and that’s something he knows well enough to try to avoid hee do even more urgently in the second scene where she waits in front of his house.
“liking someone means i can learn about myself”: i want this line framed and exhibited in the louvre because it’s so accurate and still somehow felt like it’s never been acknowledged before. hee do continues to blow me away with how well she understands and represents real aspects of being in love, and the line can be interpreted in both a psychological and physical way, which makes it all the stronger.
“is it because you understand me that you love me?” vs “i don’t understand you. i simply accept you.”: hee do is again hitting the nail on the head with her questions, and you can tell how much courage it takes for her to state the fact of him loving her. there is uncertainty there, informed by yi jin’s current behaviour towards her, but there is also the power to return yi jin’s hidden emotion to the surface by calling it by its name. yi jin’s response is both beautiful, with its meaning that he doesn’t have to get or relate to every facet of hee do’s self to appreciate it, and a reflection of the present situation, where he doesn’t understand why she keeps turning up at his door but accepts her presence as the strange wonder it is.
“i’ll either get it all or lose it all”: once again a brilliant summary of how it feels to take the next step towards the other without knowing if they’re there to catch you. all through this episode, hee do is in free fall, but she keeps her eyes open the entire time, and trusts that she knows who she is falling towards. it’s yi jin who thinks he’s strong enough to stop gravity, and it’s her who proves him wrong.
“you wrote this, didn’t you?”: the fact that hee do knows him well enough to immediately recognize his hand at work speaks volumes, just like his expression when he was looking at her respond to a bully, freak out over stickers, and replay the fencing match to spot her mistakes. there’s something so intimate about this scene, because he sees her as she is when there is no one to be for but herself, and loves her in her wisdom, her joy, and her tenacity.
“we were capable of anything”: including making me cry because it’s such an apt summary of how much their relationship has endured and how far it has come
“i can’t lose it”: what a beautiful way to weave the recurring question of what kind of love they both feel together with hee do’s gambling metaphor before wrapping up both. hee do spends the entire episode losing, but each loss comes after the gamble of a kiss, a confession, a question, a confrontation, an action; and each loss becomes a step towards the tower of self-doubt where yi jin tried to imprison his feelings. like a hero from a fairy tale, hee do had to try to win her true love’s heart three times, each time turning up at the foot of the tower where he lives, and being stopped by a blue wall of thorns. using her words as a weapon of honesty and persuasion, on the third time, she wins.

Should I be writing? Probably. But I've been reading instead 🥰. So here we come with the Angst Edition~ There have been some real gut punchers published recently and if you're into that kind of thing, then check these out!
What's Left - SFW currently (WIP) - by @cutestkilla
I am so INTRIGUED. This "Simon died and the Humdrum remains" fic sets us up with an interesting mystery, a homeless Humdrum, and a grieving Penny and Baz that make you want to crawl under the covers but also simultaneously murder the Mage. And this is all in the first chapter. Love the characterization and am very into this blunt, cold, confused Humdrum. Can't wait to see where the story takes us.
Man in the Mirror - SFW - by @facewithoutheart
It's less than 200 words of pain. Just suck it up and read it so we can scream together. It's potent in its brevity and leaves a haunting image lingering around in the back of your brain long after you read it.
What Lies Behind Doorways - SFW(ish) - by @artsyunderstudy
Excellent exploration of Baz's kidnapping trauma. The fic weaves in the canon timeline, pulling out familiar settings and delivering on a side of Baz I honestly felt was missing in the books. The lingering haunting of Baz's time in the coffin and the mix of fear, frustration, and grief that follows him is vivid and so well handled. The art that accompanies the story is gorgeous and adds to the already strong visuals.
Walk Right In - NSFW - by imjusthereforthefreefood
Who knew jacking off could be so emotional? This fic explores some of the suppressed parts of Simon he's struggling to acknowledge. The simple cruelty of Simon’s own thoughts within the story is so well written and brutally effective. Lovely payoff and beautifully done.
