im not clued into the latest neopets drama but i will say from other pet browser games i've experienced that many people do deadly seriously believe that people who think not all items in a multiplayer game should be easily obtainable are equatable to people who dont think stuff like real life education or shelter should be accessible to everyone. i personally like the challenge of some things not being immediately available to me in a game meant to be entertaining and played for a long time even if that means i probably wont ever be able to get everything i want because it gives me something to want and work for and in essence do and be interested in in a low stakes setting but i think more saliently one of these things is a real life roof over your head and the other is an online image that you can already freely access anyway but in a location you want it to be. a pixel image of like an animal

#talks #there are so many things like dress up games and so forth out there for if you really just wanted the freedom to dress up animals without #real barriers. there are so many commonly available things in pet browser games that are aesthetically on par with #or even surpass rare and sought after ones but no one seems to actually want or care to have and display those as #much. i feel like the rarity system does actually factor into desirability as much as people say they want something rare because its just #good & that therefore it shouldn't be rare.
