that one reddit user annoys me tbh amiya is not the pinnacle of privilege. her lifestyle is not how a child should be living. she undoubtedly has a better support system than the vast majority of infected as well as access to a certain amount of power within rhodes but she’s still an infected child soldier. she’s still cut out of normal life and public spaces like other infected, she has what is likely a full time if not more job, she has killed people and had others try to kill her, she lost her parents, she was forced to take on immense responsibility at an early age when she received the crown. all this before she turned fifteen. she is literally middle school aged in the first two arcs and still endures all this.

I am so happy right now, did not expect anything special but so happy they did~ I do have one major nitpick with it though, they forgot her originium growths on her right arm. I know this is cause this design was made for something non canon originally and they didnt alter it for in game but I also just do not like how much official but non canon art removes her originium growths in the first place. I get that it is about not wanting a cute girl with scars (weak) but like, it is an important aspect of her design. But as I said I get why it happened so this is a nitpick.

I love how people's response to critiques about the companions not noticing or being supportive of Rook's mental health is "you're too stupid" and "you don't understand the game like I do" and "here's my headcanon why you're wrong."

Why are y'all doing all the heavy lifting for the writing and then giving all the credits to the writing.

WHERE IN THE TEXT DOES IT SAY THAT. Does Emmrich even know how close Rook was to Varric? That's a nice headcanon to infer, and it would make a LOT of sense. But this is literally the "tell don't show" game, where they tell you everything three times, unless it has to do with Rook's mental health, and then it's suddenly secretly an understated genius story that I just don't understand because I'm too stupid? Okay?

No, it's once again the framework of something great that is ultimately unfinished and underutilized and a lot of people are doing the heavy-lifting for the plot and seeing their heavy-lifted headcanons propelled across the fandom, and then thinking that's just what the text says. When it does not.

I do think this is also a result of the later half of the 2nd act and all of the 3rd act being really good. Like, the later parts of this game are so good that it has me doubting my sanity about the first parts, but then I replay it and go "lol no it was bad."

FYI: Spare Me Your Mercy does not convey an ableist message. A character in SMYM expresses ableism. The show itself uses the character's perspective as an example of an unethical reasoning for euthanasia.

If ableist statements are personally triggering for you, it's nice to have a heads up that it's coming in episode 7, but it's important to note this show has a protagonist immediately speak back to counter that character's ableism. Moreover, the show as a whole up to this point has invested in disability rights issues regarding the inherent values of life, agency, cooperation, and accessibility of care.
