—- Headcanons of How the Scions Take Their Tea —-

back at it again with another headcanon

(Also, note that there are spoilers past 6.1 so beware of that)

Alphinaud

His favorite would be chamomile, but he would also like classic black teas like earl grey

Has his teas fairly sweet, with honey or some sugar

Some cream in his black teas on occasion

With his tea, he’ll have a cookie or two, or a scone or crumpet — dryer pastries that are easy to eat while reading, writing, or drawing

Has tea with nearly every meal and has it in the afternoon with his reports

Alisaie

She would like more floral blends like hibiscus tea, jasmine, blue butterfly pea tea (totally not cuz it looks cool and it’s blue)

Likes her teas to be very very sweet

And cream. Lots of it!

Cake has to go with tea! Strawberry shortcake with strawberry milk tea kind of person (would also own a really cute afternoon tea set that she would fill up with all kinds of sweets)

Enjoys afternoon tea alone in her room with her plushies or with friends!

Thancred

Likes chais or black teas, likes some spice

Takes his teas mostly black, though he puts a little honey in his chai

No cream or milk

He might have a piece of bread with his tea, but he would usually be indifferent to what goes with it

Likes to have it when he’s winding down from a mission and doesn’t want to partake in alcohol, especially in post SHB

Urianger

Likes weird teas like the blue butterfly pea tea (and developed a liking for the carrot tea that the lopporits make him), but also drinks oolong and chai

He would have the widest variety palette for tea out of all the Scions

Makes his teas somewhat sweet, and sweetens them with agave

Mayhap a splash of milk in his tea

Would have accompaniments ready for when others have tea with him, but wouldn’t eat anything with it if he were alone (always has spare strawberry shortcake for the fae or carrot cake for the lopporits)

Afternoon tea drinker, usually likes to invite others to have it with him while he regales them with his studies

Y’shtola

Likes exclusively black teas, especially earl grey (totally didn’t get her tastes from Matoya)

Has her tea black, too (black teas black for the black mage, lol)

A splash of milk and the occasional spoon of honey (when she feels more indulgent) would go in it, but she would usually have her tea plain

A slice of pound cake, a scone, or fruit tart would go with it— likes simple sweets because the tea is the star of the show

Has a strict 5pm teatime, and she will be cross with you if you keep her from that. She does it alone because it’s her me-time, but will occasionally share it with her s/o (if she feels like it)

Estinien

Doesn’t drink tea, and would have to be introduced into it

He won’t say no to an invitation, and will drink it then, but will not go out of his way for himself

When invited to tea…

Has whatever’s offered with no sugar, cream, or milk and downs it like a medicine for s/o’s sake and will put on a terrible fake smile after

He will quietly indulge on the occasional madeline (the savior of the teatime)

G’raha

Used to drink coffee to burn the midnight oil during his Studium days, but now loves royal milk tea

(he liked boba in it too at some point until he choked on one, then he never wanted to have boba in his tea again)

Likes his tea fairly sweet, would put cream and a couple cubes of sugar in plain black tea

Has black tea with every meal and royal milk tea with afternoon tea

Not very particular about what he has with his tea with, and it depends on who he’s having tea time with. Though, he really likes fruit pies, tarts, jams, and jellies

Zero

Once she’s properly introduced to tea and how to drink it, she likes calming teas like lemon tea, some lightly fruity-flavored green teas, and chamomile

Likes her tea to be a little sweet, puts a bit of honey to sweeten the tea

No milk or cream in it, feels it’s too rich for her

Likes her tea with apples and other fruits, or feather light pastries (when her palette develops more) like mille-feuille

She only has tea when she’s invited to have it with someone, then she’ll enjoy some with whoever invites her

Zenos

Likes some spice in his teas like ginger tea

He tried boba and liked it, choked on it, and liked it even more because he saw it as a challenge

Mild sweetness, some honey

Splash of milk (very particular about the amount that is put in)

Enjoys his tea plain in his room by himself with his meditations

WOL Panne

(The Protagonist and profile picture for this blog, usually)

Likes herbal, bitter teas like mint, basil, and matcha when she tried it in Kugane

Puts 0 sugar, likes it strong and super bitter (none of the other Scions could drink her tea)

No cream or milk in it

Doesn’t have anything with it, enjoys the beverage alone

Has tea sporadically on occasion. When she finds a good smelling/tasting herb, she’ll boil it with water and drink it straight up
