@thestarsarelaughing !!!!!!!!
The moment when Rincewind sees Twoflower running to the Tower of Art and his mind completely shuts down…
The most cowardly of cowards, Rincewind, who always tries to run away from the danger -
He just runs after him.
Without thinking, without hesitation Rincewind just full-on bolts after Twoflower - which all other wizards immediatly recognize as foolish.
But Rincewind doesn’t even think of not following Twoflower. Wherever he may go and however dangerous it may be.
Gods, I love “The Light Fantastic”
#hey!! how about Get Peer Reviewed#NO THAT’S IT THOUGH#@ anna if you happen to see this lmfao. this is a pretty good summary of whatever the fuck infodump i was on about last night lmao#re: rincewind HAS a moral compass it’s just that whether he Follows It and Complains or Doesn’t and Shames Himself wildly depends#but that’s a FASCINATING angle on it#especially given how much rincewind’s internalized shame reads as neurodivergent to me#his self-labeled cowardice being ANOTHER way he doesn’t fit into societal expectations makes SO much sense#WHICH IS SUCH A FASCINATING READ OF THIS SCENE IN TLF TOO#RINCEWIND IS THE FIRST WIZARD PRESENT TO ACT#AND IS THE ONLY ONE TO A.) DO SO INSTINCTUALLY (bc Twoflower Is In Danger instead of bc Being Shouted At By Bethan)#AND B.) ACTUALLY OPPOSE TRYMON#you know. despite EVERYTHING he says about how he and twoflower are the two least qualified people here to do anything about trymon.#and this is AFTER the book does a pretty thorough job of setting up rincewind as a foil to trymon/pretty much the entire wizard council#SO. You Know. something something that makes sense this man is not neurotypical the Themes said so <3#anyhow. came here bc i have a lot of emotions over how like#rincewind and twoflower’s big character flaws are things they BOTH ACT AGAINST FOR EACH OTHER#staying for this analysis because YEAH THAT’S THE GOOD STUFF#discworld
