unfortunately 2 more episodes in and im finding some entertainment in this

its a little almost on ed edd and eddy levels of silly schemes with how akira is actually not stupid but his intentions definitely are. its also incredibly unfortunate how the first instance of his brilliance was used for seeing through women's clothing instead of the sillyness that is swapping the school's entire clock system to shorten classes. and unfortunately thats the kind of stupid silly that im into.

but also unfortunately i half liked and half disliked the ghost boy ep because they knew it was going to be a touching moment but they had to make hayato say something stupid so like, are you trying to actually be heartfelt or is someone pointing a gun to their head where they can only write boys being emotional if its funny

also the "bl scenes" feel soooo like a guy had to write a bl scene not knowing the appeal of it. (i would know what thats like because ive had a guy friend try his best to write gay yaoi fic for me (not because i asked but because he wanted to) because i enjoyed his fic of the two guys being genuine and the yaoi fic was soooo awkward when his general fics were pretty sweet)

wait the director supposedly (soubi yamato) has produced several bl works before so.... whats going on??? 😂😂

So, re: October streams

I know I usually try to cram FMA, literally all of Meganebu and Black Rock Shooter, and Halloween specials into one month’s worth of streaming like a fucking lunatic, but unfortunately my school schedule this semester is awful, so I won’t be able to do weeknights at all. I also don’t want to interrupt the regular streams too much... So, here’s what I’m thinking:

No Halloween specials, or Black Rock Shooter. Instead, I’ll just play Halloween music before streams and during intermission

One episode of each of the usual shows per night instead of two, and the remaining hour or so will be for FMA and/or Meganebu

I’m only going to show a few select episodes/OVAs/movies of FMA and Meganebu instead of trying to show As Much As Humanly Possible

Anime I’ve Watched

Okay, here’s this massive post!

My roomie/best friend, Amanda, has gotten me into watching new anime as it comes out every season. We’ve been doing this since college, either 8 or 9 years ago, and it’s accumulated in a crapton of shows that we’ve watched. Obviously I’ve liked some more than others, and I can’t remember every single show I’ve watched, and with so many to list, it’s hard to think of shows I’ve seen when people ask me.

So I’m going to use this as a way to track all the shows I’ve watched!

I’m going to list shows that I’ve seen more than just a few episodes of. There are a ton of shows I’ve started watching, but then quit. Those aren’t going to count here.

Also, I’m going to use the titles I’m used to, so there will likely be a lot of Japanese titles of shows that I’ve noticed are more popular with the English title. I honestly don’t know the English title of some of them. XD;; It’s just how I’ve watched them. I will add akas where there is more than one version of the title.

I’ve watched all of these in Japanese, unless I specify that I watched it in English. The first few shows I watched in my life were in English, and so I tend to only watch those in English even now, but now I’m a Japanese snob and refuse to watch dubs. XD

I was in the mood for some boys, and of course, megane-fucker me was like, shouldnt I watch that anime that was all about glasses boys.

Anyway, episode 1 was absolute trash. I thought I was promised a bunch of pure boys in glasses doing silly and fun things, not perverted miscreants under the guise of bespectacled youths attempting to create a pair of x-ray glasses to look through women’s clothes. Okay, maybe that was just episode 1 and they do other stupid shit later, I guess. 

Unfortunately I really like the visual vibe of it, it’s very bright and the use of mob characters reminds me of Sarazanmai. The soundtrack almost too? Gives me the same Osomatsu-san/Sarazanmai feel. Unfortunately it’s not the same music composer. I actually don’t know these people very well. The character designer did Otona Pre, and Studio Deen isn’t unfamiliar with BL. Though Meganebu was apparently based off drama CDs by Deen, so I don’t actually know who the target audience for the series is. I’m not saying Meganebu is BL, but I thought if they’d want to draw a more female oriented cast, they’d either tone down on perverted boys and up male friendships. 

I did chuckle a couple of times in episode 1 (Akira literally face in the eye test chart because he can’t see shit, Minabe stripping to reduce wind tension???) but the overall scenario of the first ep just wasn’t for me. 

I was so ready to drop it but I had time I guess, so I went on to episode 2. I was still ready to drop it because making one character the butt of the joke (Hayato), is already uncool and not fun. Akira is also not that fun, because he’s the leader making these dudes create perverted glasses (how dare you besmirch glasses this way). I don’t have big opinions on Mitsuki (little shit simp) and Takuma (choux cream guy) but of course my bias was already Minabe. (the most generic sharp eyed cool looking megane guy and ikebo Suwabe)

So yeah, ep2 B really said here you stuck around for all the stupid shit so here’s some fucking food. It’s probably mud covered moldy bread but I’m eating it. Anyway, sleeping Minabe glasses moe moment, I’m eating that. (I’m ?? why it was with sensei but ok.) Minabe falling into the river 3 times and geting smacked in the face Tom & Jerry style, I’m eating that. Minabe sad childhood backstory and present day reflection of him running to his friend’s house, eating that. Him being stupid all for Akira, I’m eating that. I’m still leaving Akira in a dumpster but maybe his brother(?) Hikaru will save him.

So yeah unfortunately I guess I’m sticking around, if just for Minabe (not like this is the first time I’m stuck around a bad anime for a guy alone) then the curiosity surrounding Hikaru. I don’t expect it to be anything mind blowing, but I guess it depends on my tolerance for bullshit.
