             rayla  had  been  looking  everywhere  for  the  dragon  prince  ,  one  moment  she  ,  callum  and  ezrin  were  bringing  him  back  to  xadia.  then  shes  here  by  herself  ,  rayla  couldnt  help  but  blame  herself.  callum  ,  the  dragon  prince  and  ezrin  could  get  hurt  without  her  being  there  to  protect  them.  rayla  hadnt  been  enjoying  the  party  all  that  much  ,  her  mind  just  not  being  into  it.  besides  she  didnt  understand  the  whole  reason  behind  the  party  to  begin  with.  rayla  leaned  against  a  wall  off  to  the  side  ,  looking  over  at  the  person  next  to  her.  ‘  what  is  this  party  even  for?  ‘  /  rayla  &  anyone  :  @totouchthcstars​

Green eyes study the elf with seriousness uncommonly found in Claudia’s demeanor, neither absentminded nor lighthearted; there is no display of contempt either, however, none of the harshness she had reserved for Rayla in the beginning. There is truth in what she says (why she speaks to her Claudia does not know; lack of better option, perhaps, Ezran too young and Callum likely the subject at hand and Soren being, well, Soren). 

Claudia tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, uncertain how to go about it. They’re not friends — not really. Are they? Though circumstance had brought them to the same side, it had been too little time for friendship to form, all the more so when they had both regarded each other with tremendous mistrust. Sure, they were learning to work together, and Rayla was not bad for an elf, and she may have regretted a little bit to have tried to hurt her before, but were they friends, really?

It must have been wearing at her, this fear of love, for Rayla to come talk to her.

“I guess.” It’s not unsympathetic, truly; if not in words, there is sympathy in her tone, in hesitance borne out of gentleness reflected in her eyes. “The humans would definitely see it as treason for a human to love an elf, at least.” Claudia turned away, gaze falling to her restless hands, inattentively picking at her sleeves (This was treason as was, sitting beside an elf in friendly chatter, offering her kindness; a twinge of guilt cut through her heart, thoughts wandering back to Katolis, to her father, to the family she was helping break apart instead of holding together. He would be so disappointed —no, not only that. He’d hate her). “And besides, isn’t it treason already that you’re friends with humans?”

“We don’t really choose who we love any more than we choose our family… but no one should be kept from love… not any more than someone should be kept from having a family.”

It was when she was in deep despair, having so much fear of losing Callum that she bared her soul utterly.

Then Callum regained consciousness and she closed up again 😢

WILLOW HAD AN EXTREMELY GOOD POST THAT MANIFESTED INTO ME THINKING ABOUT RAYLA USING CALLUM AS AN ARM REST

                         rayla  wasnt  much  of  a  fan  of  crowded  places  ,  especially  ones  that  were  filled  with  humans.  luckily  the  humans  didnt  seem  as  hateful  as  the  ones  back  home  but  she  still  kept  her  horns  and  ears  hidden  to  avoid  any  problems  that  may  arise.  but  after  a  while  she  got  tired  of  the  crowd  and  stepped  outside  spotting  someone  who  had  the  same  idea  as  she  had.  deciding  it  wouldnt  hurt  to  ask  if  they  had  seen  her  friends.  ‘  hate  to  bother  ya.  but  i  was  wondering  if  you  seen  a  guy  about  my  height  always  carrying  a  book?  or  a  boy  probably  half  my  height  ,  carrying  around  a  bullfrog  that  changes  colors?  ‘  /  rayla  &  anyone  :  @virtuousouls​

               rayla  had  been  more  confused  than  she  ever  had  before  ,  one  minute  shes  helping  get  the  dragon  prince  home  and  then  the  next  shes  waking  up  in  a  strange  time  and  place  alone  with  memories  that  werent  her  own.  but  she  had  decided  to  go  to  the  party  hoping  she  would  be  able  to  at  least  get  some  information  where  ezrin  or  callum  were.  the  small  elven  women  slipped  past  people  on  the  dance  floor  looking  for  anyone  familiar.  but  after  a  while  she  gave  up  and  went  over  to  the  bar.  ‘  ya  dont  mind  if  i  sit  here  do  ya?  ‘  rayla  asked  looking  over  at  the  person  next  to  the  empty  bar  tool.  /  rayla  &  aloth  :  @inxthexhallofxfame​
